This will enable them to prove that they have done the training. They will after they have successfully completed a workplace assignment gain 4 NZQA credits and will be hooked onto the NZQA framework. Injury Statistics: The road freight industry registered more than 1396 new serious and 849 ongoing injuries with ACC in the 2006/07 year. This does not include road crashes, only out-of-cab injuries. These out-of-cab injuries had a direct cost of $8.88 million for the new injuries and $13.6 million for the ongoing injuries, not taking into account personal and social costs. There are a number of common causes of injury within the industry: * slips, trips and falls when getting in or out of the cab * jumping to the ground from the deck or cab instead of using steps * lifting and manual handling of goods, which commonly result in back and shoulder injuries. Of course, these injuries are in addition to the dangers faced by drivers who spend much of their time on the road or around dangerous equipment.
