Rolf Harris (born 30 March 1930) is an Australian entertainer whose career encompassed work as a musician, singer-songwriter, composer, comedian, actor, painter and television personality.
Harris is widely known for his musical compositions "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport", which later became a Top 10 hit in Australia, the UK, and the United States, and "Jake the Peg". He often used unusual instruments in his performances: he plays the didgeridoo; is credited with the invention of the wobble board; and is associated with the Stylophone. During the 1960s and 1970s, Harris became a popular television personality in the UK, later presenting shows such as Rolf's Cartoon Club and Animal Hospital. In 2005, he painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. He lived in Bray, Berkshire, England, for more than six decades.
Harris's career as a popular entertainer was ended by his conviction and imprisonment for sexual offences. In 2014, at the age of 84, he was jailed on twelve counts of indecent assault that took place between 1968 and 1986, on four female victims then aged between eight and nineteen. As a result, he was stripped of many of the honours which he had been awarded during his career, including the OA and CBE. As of 2015, Harris is serving a prison sentence of 5 years and 9 months at HMP Stafford.

Record's Maggie Barry and Will Payton take on John Cleland in historic event celebrating Jim Clark's life. It is not often you get to race a champion Touring Car driver but when our Lotus Cortina drew parallel with John Cleland on a cleared northbound Forth Road Bridge, the temptation was too much to resist. Will Payton gripped the wheel of the Cortina and put his foot down. In the DKW, that was once raced by Jim Clark, John Cleland looked at us and replied - and the two cars raced onwards leaving the other classics in their wake. Inside the Cortina, we urged Will on - and never had I thought when I agreed to do it, that driving in convoy across the Forth Road Bridge was going to be such fun. Yesterday as hundreds lined the bridge and even more inspected the vehicles beforehand, motor ...

This special, broadcast on BBC One on 1 January 2006, showed the creation of Harris's 80th birthday portrait painting of Queen Elizabeth II. It was highly publicised because the Queen had never been seen on such a programme before. In it, Harris goes to Buckingham Palace where he meets the Queen and paints her in an impressionist style.
Star Portraits with Rolf Harris was a BBC television series that had three series, the most recent of which was in March 2007. In it, three artists each painted a picture of a celebrity, and then the celebrity got to choose to keep one of the paintings. It was presented by artist and television personality Rolf Harris. Peregrine Heathcote was invited to participate in Series Two (2005) of Star Portraits and locked horns with two other artists to paint a portrait of Cilla Black. Happily, after the initial sitting and a two week period in his own studio, Cilla Black chose Peregrine's portrait of her as the winner of the episode. After each series was over, the paintings went on a touring exhibition around Britain.

This is probably mostly of interest to other people who appear in the video. Yes, I was Christopher Robin. This was from 1980, long before my family had a VCR. We got this on tape many years after the event following a chance encounter my mother had with Miss Martin from Colneis. More recently my very good friend was able to copy from the tape to a DVD and now I have copied from the tape to youtube. Please pass this around to anyone you know who might be in he video. Oh, and if you are in the video why not tell us who you are and what time you appear. Gareth

Footage filmed in 1992 by ITV West shows television entertainer and convicted sex abuser Rolf Harris joking with Jimmy Savile as he draws a portrait of him. Harris, known to generations of children in Britain for his friendly screen presence, was found guilty on Monday of a string of indecent assaults on young girls that took place from the 1960s to the 1980s. In the video Harris is seen joking with Savile that they go back a "long time". "What was it? Several weeks ago wasn't it when we first met?" he said. Harris then presents Savile with a portrait which he has drawn of him, to which he replies: "I see strong character lines, I see liquid brown eyes and I see the firm jutting chin, all together makes a horrible sight."
