Quand danse et handicap se rencontrent à l'Opéra de Paris!
Sébastien Bertaud, Sujet du Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris et Sandra Escudé, danseuse amateure, étaient les invités de Marina Carrère d’Encausse et Michel Cymes mercredi 17 février dans Le magazine de la santé diffusé chaque jour sur France 5. Ces deux artistes participent à "Tombe", la dernière création du chorégraphe Jérôme Bel pour l’Opéra de Paris présentée jusqu’au 20 février au Palais Garnier. Le principe en est simple : trois danseurs du Ballet partagent la scène avec une invitée étrangère au milieu de la danse classique. Sollicité par Jérôme Bel, Sébastien Bertaud a décidé de se lancer dans cette aventure artistique. Il a choisi d'aborder la question du handicap, de son manque de représentation dans l'espace public, en invitant Sandra Escudé, jeune femme unijambiste suite à un accident, danseuse dans La petite Compagnie qui mêle personnes valides et en situation de handicap.
Un instantané de grâce et d’émotion qui laisse sans voix… ou déclenche les huées
Tous deux s’attaquent à un monument du ballet : Giselle. Ils interprètent le célèbre Pas de deux du 2e acte. Sébastien, ténébreux prince en pourpoint et Sandra, ballerine en tutu long immaculé, glissent sur la scène du Palais Garnier lui sur ses deux pieds, elle dans son fauteuil. Un instantané de grâce et d’émotion qui laisse sans voix… ou déclenche les huées.
Est-ce la présence d’un fauteuil roulant dans le temple de la danse classique ou la façon dont Jérôme Bel s’approprie cette œuvre pour raconter autre chose qu’un drame romantique qui a déclenché quasi chaque soir la colère de quelques balletomanes ? Qu’importe ! Le handicap est entré par la grande porte à l’Opéra de Paris.

Paris Opera
The Paris Opera (French: Opéra de Paris)(French 
) is the primary opera company of France. It was founded in 1669 by Louis XIV as the Académie d'Opéra, and shortly thereafter was placed under the leadership of Jean-Baptiste Lully and officially renamed the Académie Royale de Musique, but continued to be known more simply as the Opéra. Classical ballet as we know it today arose within the Paris Opera as the Paris Opera Ballet and has remained an integral and important part of the company. Currently called the Opéra National de Paris, it mainly produces operas at its modern 2700-seat theatre Opéra Bastille which opened in 1989, and ballets and some classical operas at the older 1970-seat Palais Garnier which opened in 1875. Small scale and contemporary works are also staged in the 500-seat Amphitheatre under the Opéra Bastille.
The company's annual budget is in the order of 200 million euros, of which 100 million come from the French state and 70 million from box office receipts. With this money, the company runs the two houses and supports a large permanent staff, which includes the orchestra of 170, a chorus of 110 and the corps de ballet of 150.

Quand danse et handicap se rencontrent à l'Opéra de Paris!
Sébastien Bertaud, Sujet du Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris et Sandra Escudé, danseuse amateure, étaient les invités de Marina Carrère d’Encausse et Michel Cymes mercredi 17 février dans Le magazine de la santé diffusé chaque jour sur France 5. Ces deux artistes participent à "Tombe", la dernière création du chorégraphe Jérôme Bel pour l’Opéra de Paris présentée jusqu’au 20 février au Palais Garnier. Le principe en est simple : trois danseurs du Ballet partagent la scène avec une invitée étrangère au milieu de la danse classique. Sollicité par Jérôme Bel, Sébastien Bertaud a décidé de se lancer dans cette aventure artistique. Il a choisi d'aborder la question du handicap, de son manque de représentation dans l'espace public, en invitant Sandra Escudé, jeune femme unijambiste suite à un accident, danseuse dans La petite Compagnie qui mêle personnes valides et en situation de handicap.
Un instantané de grâce et d’émotion qui laisse sans voix… ou déclenche les huées
Tous deux s’attaquent à un monument du ballet : Giselle. Ils interprètent le célèbre Pas de deux du 2e acte. Sébastien, ténébreux prince en pourpoint et Sandra, ballerine en tutu long immaculé, glissent sur la scène du Palais Garnier lui sur ses deux pieds, elle dans son fauteuil. Un instantané de grâce et d’émotion qui laisse sans voix… ou déclenche les huées.
Est-ce la présence d’un fauteuil roulant dans le temple de la danse classique ou la façon dont Jérôme Bel s’approprie cette œuvre pour raconter autre chose qu’un drame romantique qui a déclenché quasi chaque soir la colère de quelques balletomanes ? Qu’importe ! Le handicap est entré par la grande porte à l’Opéra de Paris.
