Plot: Going Home is about a sergeant in Vietnam who is struggling to keep himself and two of his men alive long enough to be picked up by helicopters after a botched engagement in which the rest of the platoon was killed. What drives him and keeps him going are thoughts of his wife at home, and how he wants to wash the war off with a long bath. Unseen snipers kill his two men but in the moment between life and death the sergeant does make it "home".

Plot: A young actress has retired from films to marry the son of a prominent and rich politician in New York City. The father objects strongly to the marriage. Plot: For those, if any, who have wondered why so many Paramount contractees appeared in United Artists' films during the war years, this is another one of the Paramount productions that was sold to United Artists in the early-40's when U.A. was having trouble meeting their exhibitor contracts because of lack of product, mainly due to their loss of production in England. A group of starving, but young and willing, actors band together to share finances and an apartment. Norman Reese (William Holden) orders no love nonsense between the boys and girls till they are set on broadway, but Marge Benson (Barbara Britton) and Tony Dennison (James Beown) are already secretly married. A friend drops in to see Dottie Coburn (Martha O'Driscoll) and is shocked to find the boys and girls sharing the same apartment and insists it is her duty to inform Dottie's father (Jay Fassett.) Since Dottie is the only one with any money, the boys hurriedly pack their belongings and leave until after Mr. Coburn's visit. Seeing nothing but girls, Dad is pacified until one of the boys, George Bodell (Eddie Bracken) not in on and unaware of the "move", comes home to take a bath, and the girls, to keep Coburn in the dark, accuse him of bring a "mad housebreaker." The downstairs tenant, producer Arthur Kenny (Robert Benchley), also gets involved.

Plot: This entry in Universal's "Dead End Kids and Little Tough Guys" series is minus "The Little Tough Guys" and has only four members of "The Dead End Kids" gang. Consequently, "The Little Tough Guys" are not working for a finance company,and, for that matter, neither are the "Dead End Kids" as a group. Tommy Clark is the only one of the group that includes Pig, aka Albert , Ape and String, gainfully employed in any manner and he is working for a crooked finance company that charges the borrowers 36% interest (compounded) and more, and is constantly repossessing radios, furniture, taxi cabs and anything else the poor people of the slums buy on time payments. Tommy, who went to work for the company because the job paid more than a trainee's job he was offered in the District Attorney's office, finally sees the light and turns "stolen" evidence from the finance company over to the D.A's office.

Plot: In 1939, American Tom Martin, who fought in the Spanish Civil War, awaits execution at the hands of the Fascist victors when reporter Augusta 'Gusto' Nash, for a scoop, aids him in an audacious escape. Of course, Tom tries to romance Gusto; but though she likes him, her career comes first, and Tom himself prefers freedom-fighting to settling down. Comedy becomes drama as their mixed feelings lead them on a circuitous path through the deepening chaos and catastrophe of the early days of World War II.
