The Motion Picture Production Code was the set of industry moral guidelines that was applied to most United States motion pictures released by major studios from 1930 to 1968. It is also popularly, albeit inaccurately, known as the Hays Code, after Will H. Hays, who was the president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) from 1922 to 1945. Under Hays' leadership, the MPPDA, later known as the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), adopted the Production Code in 1930 and began strictly enforcing it in 1934. The Production Code spelled out what was acceptable and what was unacceptable content for motion pictures produced for a public audience in the United States.
From 1934 to 1954, the code was closely identified with Joseph Breen, the administrator appointed by Hays to enforce the code in Hollywood. The film industry followed the guidelines set by the code well into the late 1950s, but during this time the code began to weaken due to the combined impact of television, influence from foreign films, bold directors (such as Otto Preminger) pushing the envelope, and intervention from the courts, including the Supreme Court. In 1968, after several years of minimal enforcement, the outdated Production Code was replaced by the MPAA film rating system.
In communications and information processing, code is a system of rules to convert information—such as a letter, word, sound, image, or gesture—into another form or representation, sometimes shortened or secret, for communication through a channel or storage in a medium. An early example is the invention of language, which enabled a person, through speech, to communicate what he or she saw, heard, felt, or thought to others. But speech limits the range of communication to the distance a voice can carry, and limits the audience to those present when the speech is uttered. The invention of writing, which converted spoken language into visual symbols, extended the range of communication across space and time.
The process of encoding converts information from a source into symbols for communication or storage. Decoding is the reverse process, converting code symbols back into a form that the recipient understands.
One reason for coding is to enable communication in places where ordinary plain language, spoken or written, is difficult or impossible. For example, semaphore, where the configuration of flags held by a signaller or the arms of a semaphore tower encodes parts of the message, typically individual letters and numbers. Another person standing a great distance away can interpret the flags and reproduce the words sent.

After prohibition, the Fatty Arbuckle scandal, and the death of William Desmond Taylor, the morality of people working in the film industry comes under intense scrutiny. In response to concerns from the public, Will Hays is brought in to create a production code and clean up Hollywood's image. This episode goes into great detail about the Arbuckle scandal; how the press would try to spin the case, and how even though Arbuckle was acquitted, it still destroyed his career.

As a new programmer, everyone tells you to build. But just as important is reading. Reading code is a powerful exercise - dissecting the source code of gems and libraries used in Rails offers the opportunity to examine patterns and design choices, while building confidence in new developers. But good code reading isn't as simple as scanning the source. The concrete guidelines outlined in this talk can maximize the benefits of your future code reading sessions and help you grow as a developer. Hacker-in-Residence at the New York Tech Meetup. Western Union 1941 Randolph Scott , Robert Young Full Length Western Movie **** Stars: Robert Young, Randolph Scott, Dean Jagger -- Director: Fritz Lang --- Western Union is a 1941 American Western film directed by Fritz Lang and starring Robert Young, Randolph Scott, and Dean Jagger.[1] Filmed in Technicolor on location in Arizona and Utah, Western Union is about a reformed outlaw who tries to make good by joining the team wiring the Great Plains for telegraph service in 1861. Conflicts arise between the man and his former gang, as well as between the team stringing the wires and the Native Americans through whose land the new lines must run. In this regard, the film is not historically accurate; the installation of telegraph wires was met with protest from no one.[2] The film is based ...

He's God (Fred Hammond)
Our God is high and lifted up
And you should know
That's just the way it is
That's just the way it is
He is ruler of the Heavens and Earth below
That's just the way it is
That's just the way it is
(Chorus)
He's in control of my life
He's sovereign, He knows what's right
He will take care of His own
He's God and He's on the throne
Ruling Earth and sky
And everything therein
He is crowned Most High
His kingdom never ends
I remind myself every now and then
He's God
That's just the way it is
(Verse 2)
Although our enemy is strong
God is stronger
That's just the way it is
That's just the way it is
And when He tells them that's enough
They go no longer
That's just the way it is
That's just the way it is
(Chorus)
Ruling Earth and sky
And everything therein
He is crowned Most High
His kingdom never ends
I remind myself every now and then
He's God
That's just the way it is
He's in control of my life
He's sovereign, He knows what's right
He will take care of His own
He's God and He's on the throne
He's God
He's God
He's God
That's just the way it is
