Vanguard

The vanguard (also called the advance guard) is the leading part of an advancing military formation. It has a number of functions, including seeking out the enemy and securing ground in advance of the main force.

History

The vanguard derives from the traditional division of a medieval army into three battles or wards; the Van, the Main (or Middle), and Rear. The term Vanguard originates with the medieval French avant-garde, i.e. the ward in front. The vanguard would lead the line of march and would deploy first on the field of battle, either in front of the other wards or to the right if they stood in line.

Speedy J

Jochem George Paap (born 1969 in Rotterdam), known by his stage name Speedy J, is a Dutch electronic music producer based in the city of Rotterdam. His breakthrough came with the release in 1992 of the minimal techno track Pullover. Subsequently his material became more mellow as he moved away from the hardcore sounds that were then becoming popular in Belgium and the Netherlands.

His debut album Ginger (1993) was released on Richie Hawtin's Plus 8 record label in Canada, while in the UK it was part of Warp Records' Artificial Intelligence series of electronic listening music. A further, more introspective release, G-Spot followed in 1995; a live album, !ive, was also released. Afterwards his work, which included Public Energy No.1 (1997) and A Shocking Hobby (2000) became more experimental, importantly influencing the development of what is known as "IDM", or intelligent dance music.

"Upon first impressions, Public Energy No.1 highlights a big departure from previous Speedy J offerings... in a complete role reversal, it enters upon an iconoclastic electro territory more familiar to admirers of such other purveyors as Autechre, the Aphex Twin, Mike Paradinas and Martin Damm in his Steel persona," wrote Andrez Bergen in 1998 for Australian magazine Inpress.

Christian Fischer

Christian Fischer (born April 15, 1997) is an American ice hockey forward who was drafted 32nd overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Arizona Coyotes, and is currently playing with the Windsor Spitfires.

Juniors

Fischer played his juniors leagues with Chicago Mission Bantam AAA, Chicago Mission Midget AAA, and Chicago Mission U16, registering 44 goals and 95 points in a total of 77 games in the 3 seasons. He was selected in the 11th Round of the 2013 OHL Draft, however he was not signed.

Major Juniors

After that, he played in the USNTDP Junior Team, and even played with the USA U17 hockey team, where he did very well. He stayed and did the U18 and the Junior Team again and produced more great results. He was selected 32nd Overall by Arizona in the NHL Draft and signed with them in late August. However, he is currently playing with the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires.

On August 20th, Fischer signed an NHL Entry Contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

On August 24th, 2015, Christian Fischer chose to stay down and accept terms to the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, who previously drafted him in 2013.
