"Oath" is a song by British singer and performer Cher Lloyd, featuring vocals from American rapper Becky G. The track was released on October 2, 2012 as the second single from the American version of her debut studio album, Sticks + Stones, and the fourth single overall.[1] "Oath", produced by Dr Luke and Cirkut, was played for the first time on New York radio station Z100 FM.[2] The track was released as single in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand only. "Oath" charted in the United States, debuting at #99 and peaking at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Oath was originally written by songwriters Ammar Malik and Emily Wright, along with help from producers Dr. Luke, Cirkut and Robopop, for inclusion on Lloyd's second studio album, slated for release in 2013. However, when it was revealed that Lloyd's debut album, Sticks + Stones, was set to be revised for the American and Australian markets, Lloyd's producers decided to use the track as one of the release's lead singles, and teamed Lloyd up with aspiring American rapper Rebecca Gomez, better known as Becky G, who wrote her own verse, to appear on the track. Thus, Oath was released as the album's second single, following Want U Back, in both the United States and Australia, and also featured on the version of the album released in Japan. The track itself premiered on New York radio station Z100 FM on September 7, 2012. In promotion of the single, Lloyd performed it live solo on The Today Show and Live! with Kelly and Michael and with Becky G on The X Factor USA, in front of her mentor and manager, Simon Cowell.
Robert Copsey awarded the track four stars, and offered the following review: "Cher Lloyd once again tries to stamp her mark in the United States by releasing a wonderful, uptempo anthem for the times, that draws power from its dance-pop and synthpop genres. The chorus, in which Lloyd chants "Wherever you go, just always remember, That you got a home for now and forever, And if you get low, just call me whenever, This is my oath to you", uses a well structured bass synth to accompany the sing-rap style verses of both Lloyd and Gomez. Gomez proves her lyrical talent, with some catchy yet well structured lyrics, including: "You need a hand, and I'm right here right beside you, You in the dark, I'll be the bright light to guide you" and "We in the car, sing, sing, singing our song, Rocking the building, tear it down, like we King Kong". All we know is that with clever, tactical material like this, Cher has a great chance of going far and hitting it big in the States."[3]
The music video for Oath was filmed over the course of three days, between September 19 and 21, 2012. The video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis, and was first previewed in a number of images released via Lloyd's Twitter account. The video premiered in full on October 4, 2012, via Lloyd's official VEVO account on YouTube. It features Lloyd and Gomez as students in a high school, who are kept behind in detention, before being allowed to go home, to go out and party with their friends. The video also depicts Lloyd sitting on top of a convertible car while being driven down a boulevard, and the closing scene features Lloyd dancing in the sunset at the water's edge on a beach.[4]

Yeah, Latinos
I can go all around the world.
But there’s no place like where you come from.
C’mon, Yeah.
Mic check one two baby!
Fresh off the blizzy, New Adidas track suit
White, green, and red stripes
I might get a tattoo
I’m so Mejico, No pavement
Dirt roads I walked those and I finally made it
This is for my grandfather who came
Without a penny now I’m rapin ‘bout my shoe game
Let me check myself, everybody need that
Grandma listen to my records but she doesn’t speak that
I’ve seen poverty, I know how it feels
To change the life of a kid with some big wheels
Just like Santa Claus, In Jalisco
Givin presents to these kid-no tree though
I do it for my roots, and I ain’t talkin hair
Can’t drive into the USA so we walkin there
I love my heritage, I’m so irrelevant
New Vicente Fernandez I’m blarin it.
Estephan Lopez, George and Jenifer
I’m so focused
I speak it fluently, I might rap in it
Until then, Ha
It’s a wrap ain’t it
Owww, Yeah
It just feels good
Turn that music up
It just feels good
Turn that music up baby
It just feels good
Asi, Asi – C’mon Hahahaa
And now my family live in Inglewood, there’s a whole
block of us
I signed my deal and took the doc to a taco truck
That’s just who I am, Viva Vismo
I’m on TV now, Telemundo!
See my dad’s daddy work his finger to the bone
For less than I made and so I’m bringin that home
Never goin broke again, we lived that
Dollar menu dinners for my family won’t miss that
And when I touch down, to the motherland
If I can’t cry cuz I’m happy that my mother can
So I pay my respect to the fallen ones
Selena was a star, Can’t believe they call me one
Channel Pancho Villa Wen, I'm tryna conquer
I know we saw the white light, you is blanca
I’d rather die on my feet in this battle ground
Then live one day on my knees, How that sound?
I’m bringin everything I know to the masses
Tequila shots, Raise your glasses
Not for me, though, a bag full of Fanta
Light a candle on the window sill for the Hanta
Owwww, Yeah, C’mon
It just feels good
Turn that music up
It just feels good
Turn that music up baby
It just feels good
Asi, Asi, C’mon, C’mon
