This was my first solo flight. I definitely made a lot of mistakes on the landing. I thought about not showing it, but hey I thought it was a good learning experience and I didn't get hurt. Just bruised the ego a bit. The flight was incredible. Thanks to Matt Beechinor for talking me through it on the radio.

Pilot B Scott and I attended a world class mountain fly-in in Moore Idaho today. The Paragliding World Cup Competition was held today among concerns that the smoke from nearby fires were going to hold up the event, but on it went. Several pilots soared on by with some thermal help from King Mountain and we happened be there for our own motor/soaring fun. Thermals going to cloud base.It was some amazing sights!

This strip is rated as the second most difficult strip in Galen Hanselman's “Fly Idaho”.
"As it turned out I was a little more concerned about Dewey Moore than the greater difficulty-rated Mile Hi. A winding approach in the bottom of a canyon was required with a right turn to a touch down spot that would not be visible until just before the flare. The take off would require some maneuvering right after lift off to follow the canyon out. The go around potential did not look good with rapidly rising terrain surrounding the strip. The flight in and out went well with no problems. The landing used about 250 feet and the first third of the strip was all that was required for take off. I was carrying about 60 gallons of fuel and the airplane was full of camp gear. I flew in and out of Dewey Moore three times in two days. After having gained some familiarity with the strip I also wanted to do a go around. On a short final I made a left turn into the rising terrain and was able to reverse course to fly back out."

Landing a Super Stinson 108 at Dewey Moore in the Idaho backcountry. The approach into Dewey Moore can be somewhat difficult in the narrow Big Creek canyon.
Dewey Moore is a gorgeous airstrip on the Big Creek Drainage. It is a un-maintained airstrip and landing/takeoff is only possible one way. Hazards include; short and narrow, trees, rocks and bumps, steep grade, possible water, rising terrain, density altitude, no go-around, and canyon / mountain weather. Please proceed with caution (highly recommended to seek qualified instruction prior) and make sure the weather is on your side. Also, make sure your piloting skills (and plane) are top notch prior to landing. I imply no instruction with this video, for entertainment purposes only.

Actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have donated the Liberty Theatre in downtown Hailey to a local theater company.
The Idaho Statesman reports that the formalized gift gives the Company of Fools a secure, permanent space where the theatrical company has performed since 1996.
The couple, who are now divorced, bought the historic movie house in 1995 with the idea of transforming it into a live-performance space. The next year, they encouraged friends Rusty Wilson and Denise Simone to relocate their theater company to Idaho to perform on the Liberty’s thrust stage.
In 2013, Company of Fools merged with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, creating the largest arts organization in Idaho.
Moore and Willis are longtime supporters of the Wood River Valley.

Moore, Idaho
Moore is a city in Butte County, Idaho, United States. The population was 189 at the 2010 census.
Geography
Moore is located at 43°44′8″N 113°22′1″W / 43.73556°N 113.36694°W / 43.73556; -113.36694 (43.735517, -113.366952).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.29 square miles (0.75 km2), all of it land.
Demographics
2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 189 people, 79 households, and 50 families residing in the city. The population density was 651.7 inhabitants per square mile (251.6/km2). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 310.3 per square mile (119.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 100.0% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.2% of the population.
There were 79 households of which 30.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.4% were married couples living together, 5.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 3.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.7% were non-families. 34.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 3.14.

This strip is rated as the second most difficult strip in Galen Hanselman's “Fly Idaho”. "As it turned out I was a little more concerned about Dewey Moore than the greater difficulty-rated Mile Hi. A winding approach in the bottom of a canyon was required with a right turn to a touch down spot that would not be visible until just before the flare. The take off would require some maneuvering right after lift off to follow the canyon out. The go around potential did not look good with rapidly rising terrain surrounding the strip. The flight in and out went well with no problems. The landing used about 250 feet and the first third of the strip was all that was required for take off. Dewey Moore is a gorgeous airstrip on the Big Creek Drainage. It is a un-maintained airstrip and landing/takeoff is only possible one way. Hazards include; short and narrow, trees, rocks and bumps, steep grade, possible water, rising terrain, density altitude, no go-around, and canyon / mountain weather. Actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have donated the Liberty Theatre in downtown Hailey to a local theater company. The Idaho Statesman reports that the formalized gift gives the Company of Fools a secure, permanent space where the theatrical company has performed since 1996. The couple, who are now divorced, bought the historic movie house in 1995 with the idea of transforming it into a live-performance space. The next year, they encouraged friends Rusty Wilson and Denise Simone to relocate their theater company to Idaho to perform on the Liberty’s thrust stage. In 2013, Company of Fools merged with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, creating the largest arts organization in Idaho. This was my first solo flight. I definitely made a lot of mistakes on the landing. I thought about not showing it, but hey I thought it was a good learning experience and I didn't get hurt. Just bruised the ego a bit. The flight was incredible. Thanks to Matt Beechinor for talking me through it on the radio.

A winding approach in the bottom of a canyon was required with a right turn to a touch down spot that would not be visible until just before the flare. The take off would require some maneuvering right after lift off to follow the canyon out. The go around potential did not look good with rapidly rising terrain surrounding the strip. The flight in and out went well with no problems. The landing used about 250 feet and the first third of the strip was all that was required for take off. I was carrying about 60 gallons of fuel and the airplane was full of camp gear. I flew in and out of Dewey Moore three times in two days. After having gained some familiarity with the strip I also wanted to do a go around. On a short final I made a left turn into the rising terrain and was able to reverse course to fly back out."

Around five miles east of the town of Twin Falls in the U.S. State of Idaho, a spectacular and fascinating natural phenomenon attracts much attention. Shoshone Falls is one of the most visited attractions of the region and is also very well known way beyond Idaho, its waters plunging sixty five metres down into the depths below, a truly breathtaking sight. The waters of Shoshone Falls are supplied by Snake River, one of the longest and most important tributaries of the legendary Columbia Rivers. The source of Snake River, whose name was created by the Shoshone Indians, lies at the continental watershed of North America namely, the Yellowstone National Park. Man’s visible encroachment on the falls has been few and far between. Even the hydroelectric power station at Shoshone Falls has not really impacted on the local scenery. Indeed, the vast majority of the basalt rock walls were not damaged by the construction of the oldest hydroelectric power plant in Idaho, Magic Valley. Far into the future, water will also play an important role in Magic Valley and will continue to find its way through the rocks and down into the valley below. The mighty sound of Shoshone Falls will never be silenced!

After a stint teaching rock climbing in Oregon for the City of Eugene’s Outdoor Recreation Program, he moved to Montana in 2008.
In spring 2011, Tyler began freelancing for Outlaw’s publications, writing about adventure, travel and the ecological threats to the landscapes he loves. Then in November 2011, he traveled to the Caribbean, Japan, Southeast Asia and Europe for seven months. Upon his return, Tyler joined the Outlaw team as a staff writer and Distribution Director.
Tyler sees the commute from Bozeman to Big Sky as an opportunity to fish the riffles and climb the rocks of the Gallatin Canyon.

Dr. Holly Wissler, in conjunction with invited guests from the remote highland Quechua community of Q’eros, will talk about and demonstrate the deep meaning behind ritual music in the Andes. Through the lens of Q’eros’ music we learn about Andean belief system, ecological environment, and spiritual connection to the earth and mountain gods.
Originally from Iowa, Holly Wissler has worked as an adventure travel guide in the Andes of Peru since 1982 and the Himalayas of Nepal since 1987. Holly is invited as guest speaker for various university study abroad programs and Lindblad/National Geographic Expeditions. She is the Director of the Study Abroad music/cultural program in Peru for the “Center for World Music,” NGO with headquarters in San Diego. Holly speaks fluent Spanish and Quechua.
Holly holds two master’s degrees, Flute Performance and Music History from the University of Idaho, and a PhD in Ethnomusicology on the musical rituals of the Quechua community of Q’eros. For her PhD research Holly was awarded a Fulbright-Hays doctoral dissertation research abroad fellowship. Holly has published numerous articles on the Q’eros (in both Spanish and English), and is adept at creating meaningful cultural exchanges between the indigenous Q’eros and visitors to Peru.
She is the producer of the video documentary Qoyllur Rit’i: A Woman’s Journey (1998), about Qoyllur Rit’i, the largest pilgrimage festival in the Peruvian Andes and her inside role as mayordoma (sponsor) of a dance group. She also produced the documentary Kusisqa Waqashayku (“From Grief and Joy We Sing”) about the Q’eros musical rituals. This documentary, with viewing options in Quechua, Spanish and English, shows a year cycle of musical rituals in Q’eros, and briefly discusses modernization and change. First Solo Flight - King Mountain - Moore, Idaho
This was my first solo flight. I definitely made a lot of mistakes on the landing. I thought about not showing it, but hey I thought it was a good learning experience and I didn't get hurt. Just bruised the ego a bit. The flight was incredible. Thanks to Matt Beechinor for talking me through it on the radio.

Pilot B Scott and I attended a world class mountain fly-in in Moore Idaho today. The Paragliding World Cup Competition was held today among concerns that the smoke from nearby fires were going to hold up the event, but on it went. Several pilots soared on by with some thermal help from King Mountain and we happened be there for our own motor/soaring fun. Thermals going to cloud base.It was some amazing sights! This strip is rated as the second most difficult strip in Galen Hanselman's “Fly Idaho”. "As it turned out I was a little more concerned about Dewey Moore than the greater difficulty-rated Mile Hi. A winding approach in the bottom of a canyon was required with a right turn to a touch down spot that would not be visible until just before the flare. The take off would require some maneuvering right after lift off to follow the canyon out. The go around potential did not look good with rapidly rising terrain surrounding the strip. The flight in and out went well with no problems. The landing used about 250 feet and the first third of the strip was all that was required for take off. I was carrying about 60 gallons of fuel and the airplane was full of camp gear. I flew in and out of Dewey Mo...

Landing a Super Stinson 108 at Dewey Moore in the Idaho backcountry. The approach into Dewey Moore can be somewhat difficult in the narrow Big Creek canyon. Dewey Moore is a gorgeous airstrip on the Big Creek Drainage. It is a un-maintained airstrip and landing/takeoff is only possible one way. Hazards include; short and narrow, trees, rocks and bumps, steep grade, possible water, rising terrain, density altitude, no go-around, and canyon / mountain weather. Please proceed with caution (highly recommended to seek qualified instruction prior) and make sure the weather is on your side. Also, make sure your piloting skills (and plane) are top notch prior to landing. I imply no instruction with this video, for entertainment purposes only. Use EXTREME CAUTION! Bruce Willis & Demi Moore Donate Theater To Idaho Theater Troop
Actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have donated the Liberty Theatre in downtown Hailey to a local theater company. The Idaho Statesman reports that the formalized gift gives the Company of Fools a secure, permanent space where the theatrical company has performed since 1996. The couple, who are now divorced, bought the historic movie house in 1995 with the idea of transforming it into a live-performance space. The next year, they encouraged friends Rusty Wilson and Denise Simone to relocate their theater company to Idaho to perform on the Liberty’s thrust stage. In 2013, Company of Fools merged with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts, creating the largest arts organization in Idaho. NCAAF 2008 Week 01 Boise State vs Idaho State
Freshman Kellen Moore threw for 274 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Shoemaker caught two passes for two touchdowns as Boise State defeated Idaho State 49-7 Saturday night. Becoming the first freshman to start in the season opener for the Broncos, the left-handed Moore used his quick release and rifle arm to complete 14 of 19 passes and no interceptions.
