Carrera Island is one of the two Diego Islands in the Gulf of Paria, Trinidad and Tobago. Situated off the northwest peninsula of Trinidad, the islet comprises approximately 20 acres (8.1 ha). When Trinidad was under Spanish rule, Carrera Island was known as Isla Carrera.
Since the late 19th century, Carrera has been used as a prison island. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago recently announced the facility shall be mothballed by the end of 2013, at which time all prisoners currently incarcerated there will be transferred to mainland correctional facilities.

Join us as we showcase the Costa Brava region of Spain in this travel guide for food lovers as part of #EuroFoodTrip. We started off our journey spending the night in Cadaqués waking up the following morning to go on a sailing trip along the Cap de Creus Natural Park on a traditional boat. We had the opportunity to bask in the sun and eat plenty of local seafood including Fideuà (noodles with seafood) and mussels with Bizcochos Borrachos (drunken Spanish sponge cake) for dessert. In the afternoon we visited La Vinyeta Cellar vineyard to harvest grapes by hand and then crush them with our feet. Afterwards we enjoyed a wine tasting paired with cheese. That evening we did a cooking workshop and a gin and tonic workshop and tasting with Gin Nut staying overnight at La Vall de Bianya. The fo...
The General Carrera Lake, which may be found in the Chilean Patagonia, is known as one of the most picturesque cave networks in the world and its enchanting underworld, alongside the azure waters is definitely the view every tourist would enjoy. The most popular caves are known as Marble Caves because the force created by the waves has polished calcium carbonate cave walls for thousands of years, so after going inside the caves tourists enjoy polished cavern walls, which have a pleasant blue color. If you come to Chile, please keep in mind that these caves are only accessible by boat, so you’ll have to wait for the right weather conditions and a calm water to get the best possible experience. City Walk in Granada, Andalusia – Spain please read more: https://blog.myvideomedia.com Our Granada city walk starts at the confluence of Rio Darro and Rio Genil and continues through the magnificent Avenue Carrera de la Virgen. We quickly recognize one of the heritages that the Moors had left to the Spaniards; The preference for water as a part of the architecture. Everywhere, you can find magnificent fountains and can watch the game of water and light. The desired side effect in this hot area is the slight cooling through the evaporation of the water . Es i...

Subscribe to Munchies here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-MUNCHIES Farang, the Thai word for foreigner, is the story of how chef Andy Ricker took a 25 year obsession and spun it into the Pok Pok restaurant empire. While impetus behind Andy opening a restaurant in the first place was a decision based wanting to be able to travel and not continue his house painting business, it became more than that. The focus of Andy's mission soon became to represent the culture and food of the people in Northern Thailand as faithfully as possible. He is constantly reinforcing the idea that he is not a chef, but merely a person who is helping to curate this cuisine in America. In the film Andy introduces us to 3 of his main inspirations Thailand for which he based some of his most successful dishes. Farang c...

Check out more from Chartlet here! http://www.vice.com/author/charletduboc The desert may be one of the last places on Earth you'd expect to find a beauty pageant. But on Christmas Day, while you were busy testing the limits of your digestive system, VICE's Charlet Duboc was traipsing through sand dunes in Abu Dhabi's remote Western Region, all in the name of beauty. In the West, we think nothing of beauty contests for dogs, horses, flowers, even women. But the leggy, doe-eyed lovelies on parade here are of the four-legged variety, and are judged on such criteria as having a nice firm pair of ears and floppy lips. Just like supermodels, at the height of their careers camels can command millions of dollars. Who knew? While the super-car or the SUV has replaced the camel as the most popul...
