This video is NOT a review of the cinematic merits of the film. And yes, I am aware no biographical film can be 100% accurate. But I do believe the subject of a biographical film should be presented in a fair and balanced way. Oliver Stone’s film 'The Doors' starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison was released in 1991. Like most biographical films, 'The Doors' takes many liberties with the actual facts about Morrison’s life and the band overall. Unfortunately, too many movie viewers accept what they see onscreen as reality and rarely make an attempt to learn more about the subject. So, if you think Jim Morrison was nothing more than a somber, drug-addicted psychopath in leather pants, you might want to watch this video and learn the Truth About Oliver Stone’s The Doors. “It’s not Jim Morrison, it’s Oliver Stone in leather pants.” -Ray Manzarek “Oliver made a great impressionistic painting of our career.
