Lisa Nandy was first elected to parliament as Labour's MP for Wigan in 2010. After Jeremy Corbyn became the party's leader in 2015, she was brought into the shadow cabinet with the energy and climate change brief. However, following Britain's decision to leave the EU and the turmoil within the Labour party she resigned her position and is now backing Owen Smith to replace Corbyn as leader. She tells me her reasons for leaving the shadow cabinet, her desire to help unite the party's warring factions, why Labour is yet to elect a female leader and why she has not put herself forward for the job.

Since early 2015 Yemen has been gripped by civil war, with forces backed by a Saudi coalition fighting Iran-backed Houthi rebels. Since the start of the conflict, Britain has sold nearly £3bn worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia, a dictatorship accused of war crimes and human rights breaches by several NGOs. I went to speak to Yemenis whose lives have been destroyed by the conflict and asks Sir Alan Duncan, governmental special envoy to Yemen, if the British people should be questioning their links to the Saudi regime more.

Where should we begin? It's been utter madness this week as the Brexit fallout continues. The Conservative party leadership contest was expected to feature the Vote Leave team of Boris Johnson and Michael Gove giving each other a helping hand into power. Then Gove stabbed Johnson in the back, Johnson pulled out and Gove went off to run against Theresa May. Then there's the Labour party, which is tearing itself apart at the seams. There's been a spike in reports of racist incidents in the UK as the consequences of such a virulent official leave campaign become apparent. It's all a bit of a nightmare really.

The European Union is far from perfect but voting to leave in the EU referendum could be a huge mistake. A vote for Brexit could have a number of consequences domestically and at a European level. These could include a power grab by the Conservative right, rising anti-immigrant sentiment and fresh attacks on workers' rights and the NHS. But we may also have to take an economic hit and Europe will be unlikely to want to give us a good deal as it seeks to discourage further disintegration of the union. If we vote leave, we have to be prepared for the consequences.

The Iraq Inquiry, led by Sir John Chilcot, could hardly have been more critical of Tony Blair and the New Labour government, which led us into that calamity. Many feared it would be a whitewash but in the end, it pulled no punches. From the intelligence dossier that led to Tony Blair claiming Saddam Hussein could launch WMDs within 45 minutes to the claims that the UK and US had exhausted their diplomatic options, Chilcot eviscerated those in charge. But, of course, to those of us who marched against the war, much of what the Chilcot Inquiry told us, we already knew.

Mhairi Black became the youngest MP serving at Westminster when she beat took the seat held by Labour's Douglas Alexander at the 2015 general election as the SNP decimated Labour in Scotland. I went to meet her at the party's spring conference in Glasgow, where we talked about how the SNP caused a political reawakening in Scotland, Labour's failings in the run up to that political earthquake and whether the party is really as leftwing as it likes to portray itself. Mhairi Black also told me she believes Westminster is like an old boys club, removed from reality, which needs to be dragged into the 21st century.

Tony Blair
Anthony Charles Lynton Blair (born 6 May 1953) is a British Labour Party politician, who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007. He now runs a consultancy business and performs charitable work. Blair was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sedgefield from 1983 to 2007 and Leader of the Labour Party from 1994 to 2007. Blair led Labour to a landslide victory in the 1997 general election, winning 418 seats, the most the party has ever held. The party went on to win two more elections under his leadership: in 2001, in which it won another landslide victory, and in 2005, with a reduced majority.
Blair was elected Labour Party leader in the leadership election of July 1994, following the sudden death of his predecessor, John Smith. Under Blair's leadership, the party used the phrase "New Labour" to distance it from previous Labour policies and its opposition to the traditional conception of socialism. Blair declared support for a new conception that he referred to as "social-ism", involving politics that recognised individuals as socially interdependent, and advocated social justice, cohesion, equal worth of each citizen, and equal opportunity. Critics of Blair denounced him for having the Labour Party abandon genuine socialism and accepting capitalism. Supporters, including the party's public opinion pollster Philip Gould, stated that after four consecutive general election defeats, Labour had to demonstrate that it had made a decisive break from its left-wing past, in order to win again.

There's been a spike in reports of racist incidents in the UK as the consequences of such a virulent official leave campaign become apparent. It's all a bit of a nightmare really.

These could include a power grab by the Conservative right, rising anti-immigrant sentiment and fresh attacks on workers' rights and the NHS. But we may also have to take an economic hit and Europe will be unlikely to want to give us a good deal as it seeks to discourage further disintegration of the union. If we vote leave, we have to be prepared for the consequences.

The former Labour Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has said leaving the EU would create "an enormous economic problem". Speaking to Andrew Marr, Mr Blair said "if we vote to leave we will suffer an immediate shock to our economy" and "years of uncertainty". The former Labour Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has said leaving the EU would create "an enormous economic problem".
Speaking to Andrew Marr, Mr Blair said "if we vote to leave we will suffer an immediate shock to our economy" and "years of uncertainty".
He said this was not a hypothetical risk but "something you will see directly in people's jobs and living standards" and the confidence of business to trade.
On immigration, Mr Blair said he accepted it was "a big issue" but that it was "not going to be solved by leaving the EU".
He added that some of the people who come here from Europe "play a fundamental part in services like the NHS" and that free movement of people also applies to British people going to Europe.
