Plot: Photographer Barnard Jacobs is dying. What seems as bad to him is that Ashley, the woman he's in love with, can't bring herself to admit her own feelings for him. She's too wrapped up in her own cocaine addiction and a desire to find a wealthy husband. During a typical New York City evening, shallow fashionista Madeleine begs Barnard to call Ashley for drugs. When Ashley's wealthy friend Boccaccio comes over, Ashley admits that she has a new boyfriend and Boccaccio and Madeleine pair off. Barnard eventually retires to his own apartment, where Ashley, seeking peace and solitude, joins him in a chastely romantic expression of affection. In flashback, Barnard recalls how his best friend, a financier named Pickering, hired him to take a series of photos of women's eyes. Despite Ashley turning up late to her audition and being hungover, the two forged a deep personal connection. Back in the present, Boccaccio and Madeleine sink into drug induced insanity. Unable to make any constructive decisions, the two become more removed from the world. As Barnard learns that death is near, he reaches out to Ashley one last time in a final attempt to save both of them.

Plot: American couple Mike and Janet Harper move to England for Mike's work, his company which deals in wool textiles and wool fashions. Despite Mike's want for them to live in a flat in the heart of London, Janet, who is not a big city girl, ignores his want and instead finds them a house to rent thirty miles outside of London in Kent, which means that Mike has to commute into town by train. This commute is not ideal for Mike, who often for convenience stays in one of the company's flats in town rather than go home. This commuting situation makes Janet feel even more neglected than she already did previously. Janet believes Mike may be taking his neglect to the next level by having an affair with his secretary quickly turned assistant, Claire Hackett. Janet's beliefs are fueled in part by the Harper's busybody landlady, Vanessa Courtwright, who thinks Janet can play Mike's game by entering into an affair of her own, whether it be real or made-up. It has the potential to be real with the arrival onto the scene of Frenchman Paul Bellari, an antiques dealer and decorator who Janet hires to decorate the house. Although neither Mike or Janet had any initial thoughts of cheating on the other, Claire and Paul may have thoughts of their own, especially when Claire with Mike, and Paul with Janet, are thrown into one compromising position after another, which in and of themselves could potentially break up the Harper's marriage regardless.

Plot: A mixture of a psychological study of a ten-year-old boy, an English domestic comedy and a satire on psychologists finds young Johnny Brent, the only child of a pair of psychologists, trading an "invisible watch" to a much-younger child for a large magnet. His nurse/nanny accuses him of stealing and scolds him and he runs away. He soon convinces himself that the police are after him and following several unsuccessful attempts to get rid of the magnet, he presents it to an organizer of a fund-raising campaign for acquiring an iron-lung for the local hospital. The magnet is one of the auction items and finally is mounted on the iron-lung as a tribute to the unknown donor. Meanwhile, the father makes a completely inaccurate diagnosis for the mother of the boy's worries. In the end the boy meets the child he thought had died as a result of losing the magnet, and trades the boy back for the return of his "invisible watch" the gold medal the town mayor had given him for his part in the hospital campaign.
