The ship's Captain (Leslie Nielsen) watches helplessly as a massive tidal wave crashes into the Poseideon, sending crew and passengers into total chaos.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Poseidon, an ocean liner larger than the Queens Elizabeth and Mary combined, is charting its course on New Year's Eve. Just after midnight, Captain Harrison (Leslie Nielsen) spots the mother of all tidal waves. It is the last thing that Harrison and practically everyone else onboard sees before drowning -- the Poseidon is turned upside down, with only a handful of survivors. The ten lucky ones -- including Mike Rogo (Ernest Borgnine), Linda Rogo (Stella Stevens), Acres (Roddy McDowall), Belle Rosen (Shelley Winters), and Manny Rosen (Jack Albertson) -- led by no-nonsense minister Frank Scott (Gene Hackman), desperately attempt to climb from the top of the ship (now submerged) to the bottom (now "the top"). The film's theme song, "The Morning After," sung by Maureen McGovern, earned an Oscar. In addition, The Poseidon Adventure received the Special Achievement Award for Special Effects; L.B. Abbott and A.D. Flowers were the recipients. A sequel, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, came out in 1979.

In June 2016, Strader revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), which has prevented him from calling games for the Stars this season. Strader’s treatment schedule has allowed him to return to the Stars’ booth for their current five-game homestand, which began last night against Tampa Bay.
“Dave Strader has been a wonderful friend and NHL on NBC teammate for more than a decade,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. “We’re thrilled to have Dave lead our game broadcast in Dallas next Sunday, and join the Dallas Stars and Hockey Fights Cancer in providing a national platform to raise awareness for the battle against cancer.”
A member of the NHL on NBC family since 2005, Strader will be joined in the booth by his Stars broadcast partner Daryl Reaugh, as well as ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher.
Strader, who has also handled play-by-play duties at three Olympic Games for NBC Sports, joined the Dallas Stars as their full-time television play-by-play voice in 2015, and began his NHL broadcasting career as the television voice of the Detroit Red Wings in 1985.

Paul Stader
Paul B. Stader, sometimes known as Manny Stader (February 13, 1911–April 10, 1991), was an American actor best known for having performed stunts for Johnny Weismuller, Lex Barker, Gregory Peck, and John Wayne. He was also the underwater director of the 1978 film The Return of Captain Nemo.
Working with Weismuller and Barker
Stader was born and reared in Neosho, Missouri. He came to Los Angeles, California, to attempt to enter the 1932 Olympic Games. Though he did not make the team, he struck up important friendships with Weismuller and Buster Crabbe. They encouraged him to take the lifeguard examination in Santa Monica. He earned $5 per day as a guard. Thereafter, studio executives spotted him on a pier and determined that he would make an excellent double for the actor Jon Hall in the 1937 film The Hurricane. He was soon the personal trainer and stuntman for Weismuller, for whom he doubled in the 1942 film Tarzan Triumphs and in the 1955 television series Jungle Jim, based on a popular comic strip about the hunter, guide, and explorer Jim Bradley.

Maria Stader
Maria Stader (November 5, 1911 – April 27, 1999) was a Hungarian-born Swiss lyric soprano, known particularly for her Mozart interpretations.
Biography
Stader was born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary, on November 5, 1911, as Maria Molnár. During and after World War I, the price of food in Budapest was so high that it was difficult for her parents to support their five children. Maria and her younger sister, Elisabeth, were taken to Switzerland by The Salvation Army to recuperate for three months after being diagnosed with malnutrition. There, Maria's foster parents requested she stay for a full nine months. However, once in Budapest again, Maria fell seriously ill and it was also determined she would need her tonsils operated on. Her foster parents arranged for her to return to Switzerland. Because of difficulties with the immigration office, Maria could not remain in the canton of Zürich, so her foster father found her a place with the Stader family in Romanshorn, where there is also the commemorative Maria-Stader path. They later adopted her.

The ship's Captain (Leslie Nielsen) watches helplessly as a massive tidal wave crashes into the Poseideon, sending crew and passengers into total chaos.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Poseidon, an ocean liner larger than the Queens Elizabeth and Mary combined, is charting its course on New Year's Eve. Just after midnight, Captain Harrison (Leslie Nielsen) spots the mother of all tidal waves. It is the last thing that Harrison and practically everyone else onboard sees before drowning -- the Poseidon is turned upside down, with only a handful of survivors. The ten lucky ones -- including Mike Rogo (Ernest Borgnine), Linda Rogo (Stella Stevens), Acres (Roddy McDowall), Belle Rosen (Shelley Winters), and Manny Rosen (Jack Albertson) -- led by no-nonsense minister Frank Scott (Gene Hackman), desperately attempt to climb from the top of the ship (now submerged) to the bottom (now "the top"). The film's theme song, "The Morning After," sung by Maureen McGovern, earned an Oscar. In addition, The Poseidon Adventure received the Special Achievement Award for Special Effects; L.B. Abbott and A.D. Flowers were the recipients. A sequel, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, came out in 1979.

In June 2016, Strader revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), which has prevented him from calling games for the Stars this season. Strader’s treatment schedule has allowed him to return to the Stars’ booth for their current five-game homestand, which began last night against Tampa Bay.
“Dave Strader has been a wonderful friend and NHL on NBC teammate for more than a decade,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. “We’re thrilled to have Dave lead our game broadcast in Dallas next Sunday, and join the Dallas Stars and Hockey Fights Cancer in providing a national platform to raise awareness for the battle against cancer.”
A member of the NHL on NBC family since 2005, Strader will be joined in the booth by his Stars broadcast partner Daryl Reaugh, as well as ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher.
Strader, who has also handled play-by-play duties at three Olympic Games for NBC Sports, joined the Dallas Stars as their full-time television play-by-play voice in 2015, and began his NHL broadcasting career as the television voice of the Detroit Red Wings in 1985.

I slutet av 1960-talet och början på 1970-talet skedde den stora omorganisationen av Sveriges kommuner genom sammanslagningar till storkommuner. Sålunda kom exempelvis Jönköpings kommun att innehålla tre städer: Jönköping, Huskvarna och Gränna. Huskvarna hade redan innan sammanslagningen påbörjat utvecklingen av området Öxnehaga, ett vildmarksområde uppe på höjderna öster om Huskvarnas stadskärna. Kommunalrådet Karl Kittendorf och kommunalborgmästaren Paul Steen drev detta byggprojekt hårt. De ansåg att dess genomförande var en höjdpunkt i Huskvarna stads historia. De var angelägna att det skulle göras en dokumentärfilm om Öxnehagas tillblivelse. Filmen var klar till invigningen 1976.

Linda Liukas – The ABC of programming
Linda Liukas, programmerare, författare, illustratör, Hello Ruby Finska Linda Liukas är programmeraren, författaren och illustratören som i januari 2014 la upp en video där hon berättade sin idé om en bilderbok för att lära barn programmering. Genom crowdfunding fick hon in tre miljoner kronor och idag är boken Hello Ruby verklighet, skriven för barn från 5 år och äldre. Liukas är även grundare av Rails Girls, en rörelse som ordnar kurser i programmering för unga tjejer. Volontärer har hållit i aktiviteter i över 250 städer världen över och projektet att sprida kunskaper om programmering växer. Presentationen hålls på engelska.

I slutet av 1960-talet och början på 1970-talet skedde den stora omorganisationen av Sveriges kommuner genom sammanslagningar till storkommuner. Sålunda kom exempelvis Jönköpings kommun att innehålla tre städer: Jönköping, Huskvarna och Gränna. Huskvarna hade redan innan sammanslagningen påbörjat utvecklingen av området Öxnehaga, ett vildmarksområde uppe på höjderna öster om Huskvarnas stadskärna. Kommunalrådet Karl Kittendorf och kommunalborgmästaren Paul Steen drev detta byggprojekt hårt. De ansåg att dess genomförande var en höjdpunkt i Huskvarna stads historia. De var angelägna att det skulle göras en dokumentärfilm om Öxnehagas tillblivelse. Filmen var klar till invigningen 1976.

This collection of songs is the culmination of Mahler's many settings from Das Knaben Wunderhorn (The Young Boy's Magic Horn), a collection of German Folk Poetry. They are usually performed as a set, often also including the two later Wunderhorn songs, "Revelge" and "Der Tamboursg'sell", since their poetic origin and performance requirements are so similar. There is no cyclical connection or sequence to the songs -- they stand alone, each having its own unique affect, scoring, and conception. Representing Mahler's mature style, the songs cover a vast range of moods and topics, from grim and ironic tragedy to fairy tales. Unlike his Wunderhorn settings for voice with piano, these are truly symphonic in scope and technique, and the composer eventually expanded several of them into symphonic movements.
- "Revelge" (Reveille). A sinister quick-step march depicts the last parade of a slain regiment--as skeletons. Scored for full orchestra without trombones, Revelge has all the fanfares, drum tattoos, woodwind trills, and snappy rhythms of any Sousa march, yet is as grim and ironic as only Mahler can be in his darkest moods. The last line of each stanza features the usually light and silly syllables "Tralali, tralaley, tralalera," but in this context they have a chilling and macabre effect.
- "Rheinlegendchen" (Rhine Legend). Here is another charming Ländler, in this case telling a fairy-tale about a golden ring tossed into the Rhine.
- "Lied des Verfolgten im Turm" (Song of the Prisoner in the Tower). A political prisoner sings of freedom, while his lover, outside the prison, mourns him in contrasting lyrical passages.
- "Wer hat dies Liedlien erdacht?" (Who Made Up This Little Song?). This is yet another comic love song, with the protagonist pining away for his love. The shortest and simplest of these songs, it is a Ländler with a yodeling vocal line always doubled in the orchestra.
- "Lob des hohen Verstandes" (In Praise of Lofty Intellect). This is an absurd and comical song in which a donkey judges the singing of two birds. In spite of its humor, it is a biting satire of human self-importance.
- "Der Schildwache Nachtlied" (The Sentry's Night-song). A sentry is killed on duty while he is distracted by dreams of his sweetheart. Mahler casts the story as a ghostly dialog between the sentry and his girl, alternating between military drums and fanfares and sustained melodic passages.
- "Wo die schönen Trompeten blasen" (Where the Beautiful Trumpets are Blowing). Mahler again used contrasting materials in this touching song about a dead soldier's ghost visiting his beloved. Muted and hushed fanfares alternate with a gentle Ländler depicting the soldier and the girl, respectively.
- "Trost im Unglück" (Solace in Sorrow). Another humorous and lively dialog between two lovers, this one is more raucous and full of military orchestral effects. It is usually sung as a duet.
- "Des Antonius von Padua Fischpredigt" (Antony of Padua's Sermon to the Fish). This is a parody on the unchanging nature of human behavior. Mahler here uses perpetual motion in the orchestra to illustrate the purposeless busyness of life.
- "Verlor'ne Müh" (Wasted Effort). A young girl unsuccessfully attempts to seduce a boy in this charming and witty dialog. It is set as a Ländler and often sung as a duet.
- "Das irdische Leben" (Earthly Life). Here Mahler depicts a starving child who waits in vain for the grain to be harvested and milled. Cast as a chilling dialog between child and mother, the cruel inevitability of death is portrayed in the perpetual motion of the orchestra.
- "Der Tamboursg'sell" (The Drummer Boy). This song is based on a deserter facing execution. Once again Mahler has used a military funeral march as the means to convey the drummer boy's fear of the gallows and his sad farewell to his comrades-in-arms. This time, though, the orchestral effects are real, not imitated on the piano. The song is scored for a dark-sounding orchestra without the brighter timbred flutes, trumpets, trombones, violins or violas. In spite of the expected military musical flourishes of fanfares, drum tattoos and march rhythms the result of this unusual scoring is a tragic and bitter dirge.

Liukas är även grundare av Rails Girls, en rörelse som ordnar kurser i programmering för unga tjejer. Volontärer har hållit i aktiviteter i över 250 städer världen över och projektet att sprida kunskaper om programmering växer.

Linda Liukas – The ABC of programming
Linda Liukas, programmerare, författare, illustratör, Hello Ruby Finska Linda Liukas är programmeraren, författaren och illustratören som i januari 2014 la upp en video där hon berättade sin idé om en bilderbok för att lära barn programmering. Genom crowdfunding fick hon in tre miljoner kronor och idag är boken Hello Ruby verklighet, skriven för barn från 5 år och äldre. Liukas är även grundare av Rails Girls, en rörelse som ordnar kurser i programmering för unga tjejer. Volontärer har hållit i aktiviteter i över 250 städer världen över och projektet att sprida kunskaper om programmering växer. Presentationen hålls på engelska.

In the American television show Animaniacs, the voice of the character Wakko Warner is modelled after the voice of Ringo Starr. His voice was originally going to be modelled after John Lennon, but the voice actor, Jess Harnell, raised the pitch and made it more like Ringo after he saw that Wakko was "a little guy."
Also in Animaniacs, episode 73 contains a skit called "A Hard Day's Warners", a parody of the film A Hard Day's Night, in which the Warners run from their fans as they try to reach a cartoon convention.
In the episode "Rockabye Freakie" of the American television show Growing Up Creepie, the group is parodied as four beetles with Liverpool accents, who usually speak their lines in mellow, musical tune.
In the American television show Pinky and the Brain, episode number 34 is titled "All You Need is Narf", a parody of the Beatles' song "All You Need is Love". The episode is a parody of The Beatles and their encounter with the Maharishi.
In the episode "Bomb" of the English sitcom The Young Ones, Neil says to Mike, "John Lennon once said, 'a man with an arm full of takeaway is either very hungry or knows someone who's very hungry'." In the episode "Boring", while Vyvyan, Rick, Mike and Neil are walking across a zebra crossing, they mimic the album cover of Abbey Road.
On Nickelodeon in a behind the scenes fact of SpongeBob SquarePants, Plankton has an album hit called Krabby Road (referring to Abbey Road by The Beatles), which shows him walking on Abbey Road. Also, in addition the episode "Nautical Novice" features the Yellow Submarine in a museum of boating.
"The Hatrocks and The Gruesomes", the 22 January 1965 episode of The Flintstones, features a band with The Beatles' trademark mop-top hair that plays "bug music", a parody of the "yeah, yeah, yeah" refrain from "She Loves You".[13]
The early 90s series Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad featured an episode entitled "Amp Loves You! Yea, Yea, Yea."

In June 2016, Strader revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), which has prevented him from calling games for the Stars this season. Strader’s treatment schedule has allowed him to return to the Stars’ booth for their current five-game homestand, which began last night against Tampa Bay.
“Dave Strader has been a wonderful friend and NHL on NBC teammate for more than a decade,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. “We’re thrilled to have Dave lead our game broadcast in Dallas next Sunday, and join the Dallas Stars and Hockey Fights Cancer in providing a national platform to raise awareness for the battle against cancer.”
A member of the NHL on NBC family since 2005, Strader will be joined in the booth by his Stars broadcast partner Daryl Reaugh, as well as ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Brian Boucher.
Strader, who has also handled play-by-play duties at three Olympic Games for NBC Sports, joined the Dallas Stars as their full-time television play-by-play voice in 2015, and began his NHL broadcasting career as the television voice of the Detroit Red Wings in 1985.

Dave Stader thanks his hockey family on NBC - 2/26/17
In June 2016, Strader revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer (cholangiocarcinoma), which has prevented him from calling games for the Stars this season. Strader’s treatment schedule has allowed him to return to the Stars’ booth for their current five-game homestand, which began last night against Tampa Bay. “Dave Strader has been a wonderful friend and NHL on NBC teammate for more than a decade,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. “We’re thrilled to have Dave lead our game broadcast in Dallas next Sunday, and join the Dallas Stars and Hockey Fights Cancer in providing a national platform to raise awareness for the battle against cancer.” A member of the NHL on NBC family since 2005, Strader will be joined in the ...

The ship's Captain (Leslie Nielsen) watches helplessly as a massive tidal wave crashes into the Poseideon, sending crew and passengers into total chaos.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The Poseidon, an ocean liner larger than the Queens Elizabeth and Mary combined, is charting its course on New Year's Eve. Just after midnight, Captain Harrison (Leslie Nielsen) spots the mother of all tidal waves. It is the last thing that Harrison and practically everyone else onboard sees before drowning -- the Poseidon is turned upside down, with only a handful of survivors. The ten lucky ones -- including Mike Rogo (Ernest Borgnine), Linda Rogo (Stella Stevens), Acres (Roddy McDowall), Belle Rosen (Shelley Winters), and Manny Rosen (Jack Albertson) -- led by no-nonsense minister Frank Scott (Gene Hackman), desperately attempt to climb from the top of the ship (now submerged) to the bottom (now "the top"). The film's theme song, "The Morning After," sung by Maureen McGovern, earned an Oscar. In addition, The Poseidon Adventure received the Special Achievement Award for Special Effects; L.B. Abbott and A.D. Flowers were the recipients. A sequel, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, came out in 1979.
