Making a MFT style assembly table for the shop. This is the first part in multiple videos of making the table and accessories for it.
Hey everybody, Feddie here. I have recently started drinking the Festool KoolAid. I'm liking their tools but I can't bring myself to spend several hundred dollars on the MFT.
This is my take on the Festool MFT multi-function table. I wanted a portable table that would not take up permanent space in my shop. I also wanted it to have functionality with the Festool clamps but also accept traditional clamps. I found a plan for a similar table called a multi-function slab and modeled mine after that one.
I made this on my CNC Router Parts CNCRP 4896 machine. Turned out great.

I made my knock off of Festool's MFT out of a slab of 3/4 MDF I then modified the hole spacing and size to allow the use of inexpensive Bessey Bar Clamps that you can find here: http://amzn.to/1Q3kfJ5.
My slab is 3ft by 5ft and can be made in an afternoon with only a Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Drill, and Router. I also painted my slab to protect it from the elements. With folding saw horses it takes up very little space in my carpentry truck. I can set it up quickly on job-sites and it beats just a plain sheet of plywood with the clamping options it provides. It's a great tool for those with limited storage space or how constantly "set up shop" in new places
This workbench solution solves several problems for me as a carpenter/handyman. I needed something compact that takes up minimal space in my truck. I needed a work bench that I can quickly set up and take down several times a day. It's big enough to do real work on, yet small and light enough not to strain myself moving. It can act as a table saw out feed and I can even mount my Miter saw to it.

This is a project I've been meaning to make for ages, A simple portable workshop or jobsite bench slash work table. By routing the holes using a jig I have made a fairly quick and easy Festool MFT type workbench that can be taken to site or used in the shop/garden.
It has many clamping options using the track saw clamps, quick clamps and even bench dogs. It will be used slung across two saw horses, and can be stowed easily in the van without taking up lots of valuable space.

Kreg automaxx bench clamps with the Festool MFT
I wanted to share how I plan on using the new Kreg Automaxx bench clamps with the Festool MFT tables. The Kreg Automaxx clamps will be a sweet accessory to my MFT tables. #16.3 - Festool MFT - Part 3 - Qwas-ness
http://HalfInchShy.com Part 3 (the last!) of my review of the Festool MFT system. This episode concentrates on Qwas dogs and Qwas rail dogs from Qwas Products. I show you how to take advantage of the CNCed grid of the MFT to make a number of unusual cuts as well as work without the MFT's guide rail for "in-field" cuts. Lastly, I show you how to use the rail dogs to have repeatable square cuts on the MFT. Anyone considering going with just an MFT and TS saw instead of a cabinet table saw should give this a look.

Hey everybody, Feddie here. I have recently started drinking the Festool KoolAid. I'm liking their tools but I can't bring myself to spend several hundred dollars on the MFT.
This is my take on the Festool MFT multi-function table. I wanted a portable table that would not take up permanent space in my shop. I also wanted it to have functionality with the Festool clamps but also accept traditional clamps. I found a plan for a similar table called a multi-function slab and modeled mine after that one.
I made this on my CNC Router Parts CNCRP 4896 machine. Turned out great.

I made my knock off of Festool's MFT out of a slab of 3/4 MDF I then modified the hole spacing and size to allow the use of inexpensive Bessey Bar Clamps that you can find here: http://amzn.to/1Q3kfJ5.
My slab is 3ft by 5ft and can be made in an afternoon with only a Circular Saw, Jig Saw, Drill, and Router. I also painted my slab to protect it from the elements. With folding saw horses it takes up very little space in my carpentry truck. I can set it up quickly on job-sites and it beats just a plain sheet of plywood with the clamping options it provides. It's a great tool for those with limited storage space or how constantly "set up shop" in new places
This workbench solution solves several problems for me as a carpenter/handyman. I needed something compact that takes up minimal space in my truck. I needed a work bench that I can quickly set up and take down several times a day. It's big enough to do real work on, yet small and light enough not to strain myself moving. It can act as a table saw out feed and I can even mount my Miter saw to it.

This is a project I've been meaning to make for ages, A simple portable workshop or jobsite bench slash work table. By routing the holes using a jig I have made a fairly quick and easy Festool MFT type workbench that can be taken to site or used in the shop/garden.
It has many clamping options using the track saw clamps, quick clamps and even bench dogs. It will be used slung across two saw horses, and can be stowed easily in the van without taking up lots of valuable space.

Part 3 (the last!) of my review of the Festool MFT system. This episode concentrates on Qwas dogs and Qwas rail dogs from Qwas Products. I show you how to take advantage of the CNCed grid of the MFT to make a number of unusual cuts as well as work without the MFT's guide rail for "in-field" cuts. Lastly, I show you how to use the rail dogs to have repeatable square cuts on the MFT. Anyone considering going with just an MFT and TS saw instead of a cabinet table saw should give this a look.
