The Ruta del Bufeo, known as the River Dolphin Tour, is one of the main tourist attractions in Trinidad, capital of the state of Beni, Bolivia. Along this tour you will slowly motor down the Ibare River, a major tributary of the Madera River, which in turn is a large tributary of the Amazon River. At one point it converges with the immense Mamoré River as well. All the rivers in the Department of Beni are Amazon tributaries.
Beni is home to a species of pink river dolphin that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, the Inia boliviensis. Because these dolphins are cut off from other river dolphins in other tributaries by several spots of rapids and waterfalls, they have evolved into a completely separate species found only in Bolivia. And yes, they really are pink. For those who enjoy the tropics, a boat tour down the Ibare River to swim with pink river dolphins (if they aren't too shy of you) is one of the top tourist attractions in Bolivia.

9 Districts In High Alert
A landslide at kafaldanda Ramche Of Myagdi district has blocked Kaligandaki River since 2 am this morning.Nepal police has alrerted the people of Mustang, Myagdi, Baglung , Parbat, Gulmi, Syanga, palpa, Tanahun and Nawalparasi living on the riverside areas whereas people from Beni have been evacuated towards the safer area.
According to Nepal Police a dam of 150-200 mtrs have been created as the landslide blocked the river.

The perceived danger downstream was averted, at least temporarily, as the water in a landslide-dammed lake on the Kaligandaki river in Myagdi district started overflowing after 15 hours of blockage.
The river has been blocked at Baisari as a massive “dry landslide” fell from Mahavir in Ramche-9 along the Beni-Jomsom road. The site is about 9km north of Beni, the district headquarters of Myagdi.
The blocked river flowed out after filling the artificial lake at around 5pm on Sunday. There was flood as the water level rose two metres above the usual monsoon flow. Though floodwaters reached up to some houses near the banks, there was no notable damage.

The Beni River (in Spanish Río Beni) is a river in the north of Bolivia.
It rises north of La Paz and flows northeast through the pampas. Its most important tributary is the Madre de Dios River. One of the tributary rivers is Tuichi River in the Madidi National Park. Tuichi River joins the Beni River upstream from the town Rurrenabaque. South of Rurrenabaque, Río Beni runs through the rainforest. 30 km before joining the Mamoré River at the Bolivia-Brazil border, the rapids of Cachuela Esperanza interrupt the upstream navigability of the river.

Beni is the second largest state in Bolivia and it's capital city is Trinidad. It covers the entire northeastern portion of Bolivia. Madidi Jungle Ecolodge, Bolivian Amazon. How to get there?
The Madidi Jungle Ecolodge is nestled deep in the Madidi National Park (Bolivian Amazon), in the valley of the Tuichi River. The entry way to Madidi is from the town of Rurrenabaque, accessed by air or land from the city of La Paz. A flight from the La Paz International Airport to Rurrenabaque takes 40 minutes. By land, the bus ride takes approximately 18 hours. The trip from Rurrenabaque to the Madidi Jungle Ecolodge (Madidi Park) takes 3.5 hours by boat traveling along the Beni and Tuichi rivers. -

Because of this geography, Beni was a very important center of pre-Colombian civilization known as the hydro-culture of Las Lomas (the hills), a culture that constructed over 20,000 man-made artificial hills, all interconnected by thousands of square kilometers of aqueducts, channels, embankments, artificial lakes and lagoons, and terraces.
Beni, Bolivia is where many products that are now used worldwide have their origin, among them tobacco, peanuts, cotton, yucca (manioc), vanilla and sweet potatoes. The Spanish initially were intensely interested in this area. During the first century of colonization, they believed the mythical city of El Dorado (also known as Paititi) could be found in this region.
Beni's capital city, Trinidad, located in the Bolivian tropics, is hot and humid most of the year. This region of the country is heavily forested. Between the 19th and 20th Centuries northern Beni became Bolivia's rubber capital. The abundance of rubber trees attracted many people to the region, many of them adventurers and others workers (many of whom were indigenous) to work in the huge rubber plantations that arose. For decades it was one of the most active, dynamic regions of Bolivia.

"am mittwoch morgen kurz nach 6 waren wir dann endlich durchgeschuettelt in rurre angekommen ! nach einem lecker fruehstueck und einer erfrischenden dusche in unserem hostel jislene sind wir dann gleich los zur 3-tage-jungle-tour in den madidi-nationalpark. mit dem boot gings ca. 45 km den beni-river flussaufwaerts hinein in den nationalpark. dort sind wir fuer 2 nachte in einer eco-lodge untergebracht, ein rudimentaeres hauschen mit moskito-netz und ohne strom. auch die duschen waren abenteuerlich. unser guide eriberto hat uns von dort aus zu ausfluegen in den regenwald mitgenommen und uns die flora+fauna erklaert. wir waren auf der spur von groesseren tieren (u.a. auch jaguare), gesehen haben wir aber nur kleine (spinnen, voegel, insekten). trotzdem interessant und vor allem : GRUEN ! abends gab es trotz der abgeschiedenheit sehr leckeres essen. da der 2. tag sehr verregnet war sind wir im camp geblieben und haben schmuck aus kokos-kernen und anderem krams gebastelt. naja....und chris und ich haben den stamm der bollaha-indianer gegruendet ;-) fernab der zivilisation und ohne inet kommt man(n) auf echt dumme gedanken *gg* abends sind wir auf nachttour und haben unsere hoersinne gescharft. tolle sounds im wald ! am 3.tag gab es noch einen morgen-walk, dann ging es wieder zurueck in die jislene nach rurre ! endlich wieder zivilisation und ein kuehles bier ! hier haben wir uns entschieden noch ein paar tage laenger zu bleiben und eine tour in die pampa dranzuhaengen....groessere tiere sehen...na mal schauen..."
