Ben Rector (born November 6, 1986, Tulsa, Oklahoma) is an American musician based in Nashville, Tennessee. His most recent record, Something Like This was released in September 2011. Through word of mouth the record charted at #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart, and climbed above Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV to the #4 spot on iTunes, albums overall, bested only by Lady Antebellum’s same day release, Coldplay, and Adele. Rector’s songs have been featured on One Tree Hill, Drop Dead Diva, Pretty Little Liars, Teen Mom, ESPN SportsCenter, and ABC’s Modern Family fall promo.
Rector took piano lessons as a small child but did not begin pursuing music seriously until he picked up guitar and later songwriting in high school. He formed a band called Euromart the following year. Euromart made an EP and played club shows in Tulsa, but dissolved when the members left for college. After high school, Rector attended the University of Arkansas where he studied marketing. During his freshman year he released a self-titled EP that featured the song “Conversation”, which went on to win the Grand Prize in the pop category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest in 2006. He is the youngest person ever to win the award for the pop category. The EP grew popular in surrounding states, and Rector began touring frequently on weekends and during breaks in the school year. In 2008 Rector released his first full-length record, Twenty Tomorrow, followed by Songs That Duke Wrote in 2009. In 2009 Rector was given the NAMA award for best singer songwriter in Northwest Arkansas. During his college career at the University of Arkansas he played approximately 200 shows. In June 2009 Rector moved to Nashville with his wife to pursue songwriting and to continue his career as an artist.
Thomas Earl "Tom" Petty (born October 20, 1950) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He is the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and was a founding member of the late 1980s supergroup Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch. He has also performed under the pseudonyms of Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr. and Muddy Wilbury.
He has recorded a number of hit singles with the Heartbreakers and as a solo artist, many of which remain heavily played on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. His music, and notably his hits, have become popular among younger generations as he continues to host sold-out shows. Throughout his career, Petty and his collaborators have sold 60 million albums.
Tom Petty was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, and attended Gainesville High School. His interest in rock and roll music began at age 10 when he met Elvis Presley. In the summer of 1961, his uncle was working on the set of Presley's film Follow That Dream in nearby Ocala, Florida and invited Petty to come down and watch the shoot. He instantly became an Elvis Presley fan and soon traded his Wham-O slingshot for a box of Elvis 45s. In a 2006 interview on the National Public Radio program Fresh Air, Petty said that he knew he wanted to be in a band the moment he saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. One of his first guitar teachers was Don Felder, a fellow Gainesville resident, who would later join the Eagles. As a young man, Petty worked briefly on the grounds crew for the University of Florida, but never attended as a student. An Ogeechee lime tree that he planted while employed at the University is now called the Tom Petty tree.

I start my Saturday the right way
Playing wiffle ball at Steve's place
League champs since the third week of May (deal with that)
While we're working out the lawn chair strike zone
Go on and turn off your cell phone
Whoever needs to call you can wait
Ohhh thank God for the summertime
Ohhh no cares and I'm doing fine
No cares, and I'm doing fine
Thank God for the summertime
Tomorrow morning we could hit the river
Sit in inner tubes and simmer
Work hard on a sunburn all day
Or if we stay up late we'll sleep in
Cause everyday is like the weekend
Thank God for the months after May
Ohhh thank God for the summertime
Ohhh no cares and I'm doing fine, no cares and I'm doing fine
Thank God for the summertime
Everyday feels just like the weekend
Sam Cooke plays through the speakers
Mmm thank God for the summertime
Ooh thank God for the summertime
And did I mention we were league champs baby?
Thank God for the summertime
