Their debut single, "Planet", was released in 2007, the b-side of which, "Boundaries", was used in a trailer for the television series The Sopranos in the United States. Their debut album was released in 2008 on Kids Records (UK) / Erased Tapes Records (EU) to generally positive reviews. The band toured the United Kingdom between March and May 2008 and appeared at some of the Summer festivals the same year. In April 2009 they released their second album Science For The Living in Japan. The two disc Japan release featured tracks taken from their 2008 Two Sparks, Two Stars EP, with the remaining tracks being new material. The bonus disc included a remix from The Joy Formidable of the opening track on Disc 1 "Eyes Lose Their Fire".

Can we rewind back to a time
When life stood still and we thought we'd last forever
more
Now I stand alone
All you've left me are memories
The endless nights we laughed out loud at everything
All these scenes are broken dreams
And now I stand alone
Frame by frame by
Name by name by
Face by face we're
Talking pictures
History I can't believe
I had it all then I just watched it fade away
All these scenes are broken dreams
And now I stand alone
Frame by frame by
Name by name by
Face by face we're
Talking picutres
We're talking pictures
All these scenes are broken dreams
Love's not always what it seems
Frame by frame by
Name by name by
Face by face we're
Talking pictures

We're talking pictures
Tyler:
Well I’m here,
I’m in the Yukon,
And I’m trying all it on.
Well I’m here,
I’m trying to soak in
All the cool dry air alone.
Tyler with Alexz humming harmony:
Well I’m here.
And I’m not smoking.
And I’ll be leaving with a picture.
Soft spoken…
Both:
Well I can see the river’s frozen,
All the long roads track and gone.
And I believe that something’s watching
So keep your eyes right on the road.
Well I’m here,
And I’m not broken.
And I’ll be leaving with an image,
Soft spoken…
So see the soft spoken words alive,
And believe the cold tired shelter dive.
Ohh, ohh ohh, ohh ohh
Well I’m here,

I've been walking through the ruins of my life and
times
Seems like everything is sinking right in front of my
eyes
I've been asking all the questions but nothing's coming
back
Now I'm trying to keep myself from slipping through the
cracks
Where is my fame? How did I get this far?
Who do I blame, when it all falls apart?
Maybe the moon's just a hole in the sky
One day at a time my world is shattering
Maybe the answer's to never ask why
As I watch my life unraveling
Unraveling
I don't know who to turn to and I wonder who's a
friend?
Out of everyone I trusted too, it led to the end
I'm running out of reasons for putting up a fight
Trying to drag another lost soul back into the life
How could I heal so many broken hearts?
And who's there for me, when it falls apart?
Maybe the moon's just a hole in the sky
One day at a time my world is shattering
Maybe the answer's to never ask why
As I watch my life unraveling
Unraveling
We were so strong when we started
Something went wrong
And all the things that mattered
Somehow got away
Away...
Maybe the moon's just a hole in the sky
One day at a time my world is shattering
Maybe the answer's to never ask why
As I watch my life unraveling
As I watch my life unraveling
Unraveling
Gonna watch it unwind
One day at the time
(x4)
Every day was glowing like a perfect day in summer
You'd never know rain
If it was always the same
We need a bitter taste of falling
How to feel it back
To know when it's right
To walk in the light
Sometimes you pull me back
Back from the edge
I rescue you back from the dead
We got lost along the way
But we got here in the end
I know
It was worth waiting for
It was worth waiting for
Even with my friends I felt like I was just pretending
To know what I was
And turn it into a song
Somehow we're still standing after all our shattered
plans that faded away
Now there's only today
Sometimes you pull me back
Back from the edge
I rescue you back from the dead
We got lost along the way
But we got here in the end
I know
It was worth waiting for
It was worth waiting for
Everything's just...
Start a step out on the way
And everytime I take you too far
Bring me back again
Sometimes you pull me back
Back from the edge
I rescue you back from the dead
We got lost along the way
But we got here in the end
I know
It was worth waiting for
It was worth waiting for
Yeah! It was worth waiting for
It was worth waiting for
We're always on display
People question what we say
Seems like evry move we make
There's someone watching
Don't want to lose you to the crowd
So I turn the music loud
So we don'y have to listen to them talking
You're scaring me
Cause you'd do anything
And it's tearing me apart
You hear your name in every song
You're happy when the spotlights on
You need so badly to belong
But don't forget to talk to me
Remind yourself to breathe
If i's all so bitter sweet
If you're feeling incomeplete
put your trust in me
Cause i believe you need me
Lose your face to the world
And just try to be my girl
All this craxy stuff will mess
You up comepletly
You're scaring me
Cause you'd do anything
And it's tearing me apart
You hear your name in every song
you're happy when the spotlights on
you need so badly to belong
But don't forget to talk to me
Remind yourself to breathe
We got to get it back
We got to get it back
We got to get it back
We got to get it back again
We got to get it back
We got to get it back...again
You hear your name in every song
you're happy when the spotlights on
You need so badly to belong
But don't forget to talk to me
Remind yourself
Remind yourself
