9. decembrī Latvijas Orientēšanās federācija rīkoja informatīvu semināru par augstu sportisko rezultātu sasniegšanu augsta stresa apstākļos. Semināra mērķis bija Latvijas orientēšanās izlases sportistiem pastāstīt par dažādiem veidiem, kā sakārtot domas un sevi noskaņot augstam sniegumam starptautiskās sacensībās, piemēram, 2018. gadā Latvijā notiekošajā Pasaules čempionātā orientēšanās sportā. Seminārā uzstājās Kalvis Pastars, kvalificēts mikro, plastiskās un rekonstruktīvās ķirurģijas speciālists, kurš stāstīja par stresu, kas saistīts ar dažādām medicīniskām operācijām. Savukārt Zintis Ekmanis, Latvijas Bobsleja federācijas ģenerālsekretārs, 1984. gada Sarajevas Ziemas Olimpisko spēļu bronzas medaļas ieguvējs divnieku ekipāžu sacensībās, dalījās pieredzē par stresu un izaicinājumiem, sacenšoties bobsleja pasaules elitē.

Todo comenzó en Londres, donde tres amigos compartían piso. Se trataba de los hermanos Mark y David Knopfler, junto a John Illsley. Mark trabajaba como maestro de escuela, David era asistente social y John trabajaba en una tienda de discos. Su situación económica no les permitía demasiadas alegrías
A ellos se solía unir su amigo Pick Whiters, quien era el único que estaba introducido en el mundo de la música. Poseía experiencia como músico, tras haber participado en algunos grupos.
En 1977 Pick y Mark deciden crear un grupo. Pick sugiere el nombre: 'Dire Straits', algo así como 'situación límite'.
Juntos, los cuatro componentes del grupo consiguen reunir el dinero para grabar una maqueta. En ella, cuatro temas: 'Wild West End', 'Water Of Love', 'Sacred Loving' y 'Sultans Of Swing'.
Cuando un conocido disc-jockey de una emisora de radio en Londres pinchó la maqueta en su emisora, la reacción de la audiencia fue muy favorable, lo que oblogó al pinchadiscos a seguir emitiendo la música de los Knopfler y compañía.
Entre los oyentes de la emisora se encontraba un conocido mánager de Fonogram, a la búsqueda de nuevos talentos, quien no cesa hasta que consigue que dos Dire firmen un contrato con su compañía. El mismo representante de Fonogram les presenta a una representante para sus conciertos.
Los Dire Straits actúan como teloneros del grupo norteamericano 'Talking Heads', en su gira por Gran Bretaña, lo que les permite coger experiencia y darse a conocer. Entre todas las notas del grupo destacan las de la guitarra de Mark Knopfler, quien nos obsequia con sonidos extraordinarios entre el blues yel rock.
En marzo de 1978 Dire Straits publican su primer álbum, 'Dire Straits'. Poco después comienzan a hacer conciertos en solitario, incluso fuera del Reino Unido. Por desgracia, las ventas del disco no son demasiado elevadas.
Un año después graban 'Communiqué', su segundo álbum y el menos vendido del grupo. Para compensar, sacan 'Making Movies', una vuelta al rock clásico, con temas más fuertes.
Con 'Lover Over Gold' dan un nuevo giro a su estilo, más al aire que a Mark le gusta seguir. Un disco con sonidos casi orquestales, aunque sobre la base del rock.
En 1984 sale a la luz 'Alchemy', una selección de diez canciones recogidas de los conciertos en directo del grupo en la gira del año anterior.
A finales de 1984 los Dire Straits se encierran para preparar su nuevo disco. La grabación de este nuevo álbum les llevará varios meses y con ellos colaborar artistas de la talla de Sting. El nuevo álbum se titula 'Brothers In Arms' y será su disco más vendido en todo el mundo, con canciones como 'So Far Away', 'Money For Nothing', 'Walk Of Life', etc.
La gira del disco 'Brothers In Arms' supuso repetir el éxite cosechado por el disco. Duró dos años y ofrecieron 250 conciertos en todo el mundo.
Lo siguiente fue una recopilación de sus mejores canciones y 'Money For Nothing' fue el título escogido.
En 1991 Dire Straits publicaron 'On Every Street', que no cubrió las espectativas generadas por los anteriores títulos y que ha sido, hasta la fecha, el último de los Dire Straits. Aunque no han anunciado definitivamente su separación, la verdad es que realizan trabajos independientes. Por ejemplo, Mark Knopfler ha editado varios discos en compañía de su guitarra, varios de ellos como bandas sonoras para películas.

Dire Straits
Dire Straits were a British rock band formed in 1977 by Mark Knopfler (lead vocals and lead guitar), his younger brother David Knopfler (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), John Illsley (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Pick Withers (drums and percussion). Dire Straits' sound drew from a variety of musical influences, including jazz, folk, and blues, and came closest to beat music within the context of rock and roll. Despite the prominence of punk rock during the band's early years, their stripped-down sound contrasted with punk, demonstrating a more "rootsy" influence that emerged from pub rock. Many of Dire Straits' compositions were melancholic. Dire Straits' biggest selling album Brothers in Arms has sold over 30 million copies, and was the first album to sell a million copies on CD.
They also became one of the world's most commercially successful bands, with worldwide records sales of over 100 million. Dire Straits won four Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards—winning Best British Group twice, two MTV Video Music Awards, and various other music awards. The band's songs include "Money for Nothing", "Sultans of Swing", "So Far Away", "Walk of Life", "Brothers in Arms", "Private Investigations", "Romeo and Juliet", "Tunnel of Love", and "Telegraph Road".

Composer - John Williams John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. With a career spanning over six decades, he has composed some of the most popular and recognizable film scores in cinematic history, including Jaws, the Star Wars series, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman: The Movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, the first two Home Alone films, the first two Jurassic Park films, Schindler's List, and the first three Harry Potter films. Williams has been associated with director Steven Spielberg since 1974, composing music for all but three of his feature films. Other notable works by Williams include theme music for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, NBC Sunday Night Football, "The Mission" theme used by NBC News, the television series Lost in Space and Land of the Giants, and the incidental music for the first season of Gilligan's Island. Williams has also composed numerous classical concertos and other works for orchestral ensembles and solo instruments. From 1980 to 1993, he served as the Boston Pops's principal conductor, and is currently the orchestra's laureate conductor. Williams has won 23 Grammy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, five Academy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. With 50 Academy Award nominations, Williams is the second most-nominated individual, after Walt Disney. In 2005, the American Film Institute selected Williams's score to 1977's Star Wars as the greatest American film score of all time. The soundtrack to Star Wars was additionally preserved by the Library of Congress into the National Recording Registry, for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Williams was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl's Hall of Fame in 2000, and was a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2004 and the AFI Life Achievement Award in 2016. Williams composed the score for eight of the top twenty highest-grossing films at the U.S. box office (adjusted for inflation).[

A ellos se solía unir su amigo Pick Whiters, quien era el único que estaba introducido en el mundo de la música. Poseía experiencia como músico, tras haber participado en algunos grupos.
En 1977 Pick y Mark deciden crear un grupo. Pick sugiere el nombre: 'Dire Straits', algo así como 'situación límite'.
Juntos, los cuatro componentes del grupo consiguen reunir el dinero para grabar una maqueta. En ella, cuatro temas: 'Wild West End', 'Water Of Love', 'Sacred Loving' y 'Sultans Of Swing'.
Cuando un conocido disc-jockey de una emisora de radio en Londres pinchó la maqueta en su emisora, la reacción de la audiencia fue muy favorable, lo que oblogó al pinchadiscos a seguir emitiendo la música de los Knopfler y compañía.
Entre los oyentes de la emisora se encontraba un conocido mánager de Fonogram, a la búsqueda de nuevos talentos, quien no cesa hasta que consigue que dos Dire firmen un contrato con su compañía. El mismo representante de Fonogram les presenta a una representante para sus conciertos.
Los Dire Straits actúan como teloneros del grupo norteamericano 'Talking Heads', en su gira por Gran Bretaña, lo que les permite coger experiencia y darse a conocer. Entre todas las notas del grupo destacan las de la guitarra de Mark Knopfler, quien nos obsequia con sonidos extraordinarios entre el blues yel rock.

La gira del disco 'Brothers In Arms' supuso repetir el éxite cosechado por el disco. Duró dos años y ofrecieron 250 conciertos en todo el mundo.
Lo siguiente fue una recopilación de sus mejores canciones y 'Money For Nothing' fue el título escogido.
En 1991 Dire Straits publicaron 'On Every Street', que no cubrió las espectativas generadas por los anteriores títulos y que ha sido, hasta la fecha, el último de los Dire Straits. Aunque no han anunciado definitivamente su separación, la verdad es que realizan trabajos independientes. Por ejemplo, Mark Knopfler ha editado varios discos en compañía de su guitarra, varios de ellos como bandas sonoras para películas.

Todo comenzó en Londres, donde tres amigos compartían piso. Se trataba de los hermanos Mark y David Knopfler, junto a John Illsley. Mark trabajaba como maestro de escuela, David era asistente social y John trabajaba en una tienda de discos. Su situación económica no les permitía demasiadas alegrías
A ellos se solía unir su amigo Pick Whiters, quien era el único que estaba introducido en el mundo de la música. Poseía experiencia como músico, tras haber participado en algunos grupos.
En 1977 Pick y Mark deciden crear un grupo. Pick sugiere el nombre: 'Dire Straits', algo así como 'situación límite'.
Juntos, los cuatro componentes del grupo consiguen reunir el dinero para grabar una maqueta. En ella, cuatro temas: 'Wild West End', 'Water Of Love', 'Sacred Loving' y 'Sultans Of Swing'.
Cuando un conocido disc-jockey de una emisora de radio en Londres pinchó la maqueta en su emisora, la reacción de la audiencia fue muy favorable, lo que oblogó al pinchadiscos a seguir emitiendo la música de los Knopfler y compañía.
Entre los oyentes de la emisora se encontraba un conocido mánager de Fonogram, a la búsqueda de nuevos talentos, quien no cesa hasta que consigue que dos Dire firmen un contrato con su compañía. El mismo representante de Fonogram les presenta a una representante para sus conciertos.
Los Dire Straits actúan como teloneros del grupo norteamericano 'Talking Heads', en su gira por Gran Bretaña, lo que les permite coger experiencia y darse a conocer. Entre todas las notas del grupo destacan las de la guitarra de Mark Knopfler, quien nos obsequia con sonidos extraordinarios entre el blues yel rock.

John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. With a career spanning over six decades, he has composed some of the most popular and recognizable film scores in cinematic history, including Jaws, the Star Wars series, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman: The Movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, the first two Home Alone films, the first two Jurassic Park films, Schindler's List, and the first three Harry Potter films. Williams has been associated with director Steven Spielberg since 1974, composing music for all but three of his feature films. Other notable works by Williams include theme music for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, NBC Sunday Night Football, "The Mission" theme used by NBC News, the television series Lost in Space and Land of the Giants, and the incidental music for the first season of Gilligan's Island. Williams has also composed numerous classical concertos and other works for orchestral ensembles and solo instruments. From 1980 to 1993, he served as the Boston Pops's principal conductor, and is currently the orchestra's laureate conductor.

John Towner Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor, and pianist. With a career spanning over six decades, he has composed some of the most popular and recognizable film scores in cinematic history, including Jaws, the Star Wars series, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman: The Movie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the Indiana Jones series, the first two Home Alone films, the first two Jurassic Park films, Schindler's List, and the first three Harry Potter films. Williams has been associated with director Steven Spielberg since 1974, composing music for all but three of his feature films. Other notable works by Williams include theme music for the 1984 Summer Olympic Games, NBC Sunday Night Football, "The Mission" theme used by NBC News, the television series Lost in Space and Land of the Giants, and the incidental music for the first season of Gilligan's Island. Williams has also composed numerous classical concertos and other works for orchestral ensembles and solo instruments. From 1980 to 1993, he served as the Boston Pops's principal conductor, and is currently the orchestra's laureate conductor.
Williams has won 23 Grammy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, five Academy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. Semināra mērķis bija Latvijas orientēšanās izlases sportistiem pastāstīt par dažādiem veidiem, kā sakārtot domas un sevi noskaņot augstam sniegumam starptautiskās sacensībās, piemēram, 2018. gadā Latvijā notiekošajā Pasaules čempionātā orientēšanās sportā. Seminārā uzstājās Kalvis Pastars, kvalificēts mikro, plastiskās un rekonstruktīvās ķirurģijas speciālists, kurš stāstīja par stresu, kas saistīts ar dažādām medicīniskām operācijām. Savukārt Zintis Ekmanis, Latvijas Bobsleja federācijas ģenerālsekretārs, 1984. gada Sarajevas Ziemas Olimpisko spēļu bronzas medaļas ieguvējs divnieku ekipāžu sacensībās, dalījās pieredzē par stresu un izaicinājumiem, sacenšoties bobsleja pasaules elitē.

Moguće da je projekat sa zracima smrti stvarno postojao, ali u Teslinom muzeju, gdje se nalaze svi njegovi originalni dokumenti njega nema.
