The Late Show may refer to:
John Arthur Heilemann (born January 23, 1966) is an American journalist for New York magazine, where he mainly covers US politics. He is the co-author (with Mark Halperin) of Double Down and Game Change, books about Presidential campaigns. He and Halperin currently co-host With All Due Respect, a political analysis show on Bloomberg Television and MSNBC. He previously was a staff writer for The New Yorker, Wired, and The Economist. He is the author of a previous book, Pride Before the Fall, about the Microsoft antitrust case. He was the host of a four-part documentary series for Discovery called Download: the True Story of the Internet, about the rise of the World Wide Web, which first aired in 2008.
Heilemann holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Political Science from Northwestern University and a master's degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
Mark Evan Halperin (born January 11, 1965) is the senior political analyst for Time magazine, MSNBC, and Bloomberg news. He is the co-author (with John Heilemann) of Game Change and Double Down: Game Change 2012. Both Halperin and Heilemann are co-hosts of MSNBC and Bloomberg's With All Due Respect, a political analysis show.
Mark Halperin serves as a board member on the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College.
Halperin is the son of Morton Halperin, a foreign policy expert, and Ina Young. He has two brothers, David and Gary. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and raised in Bethesda, where he attended Walt Whitman High School. Halperin received his college degree from Harvard University in 1987.
In 1988, Halperin started out as a desk assistant for ABC News and a researcher for World News Tonight. He then worked in the investigative unit of World News Tonight and as a general assignment reporter in Washington. In 1992 he worked full-time as an off-air producer covering Bill Clinton. In 1994 Halperin became a producer with ABC's special events unit in New York and later an editorial producer.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is an American late-night talk show hosted by Stephen Colbert, which premiered on September 8, 2015. It is the spiritual successor of The Colbert Report. Produced by Spartina Productions and CBS Television Studios, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the second iteration of CBS's long-running Late Show franchise. Stay Human, led by bandleader Jon Batiste, serves as the program's house band.
The program is taped at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City; unlike predecessor series during its final decade, new episodes are produced five nights a week (as such, The Late Show and its NBC competitor The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon are the only daily late-night network talk shows that produce and air first-run episodes on Fridays), which air at 11:35 p.m. Eastern and Pacific Time on Monday through Friday evenings.
Prior to Colbert's assumption of hosting duties, David Letterman had been host of the Late Show for 22 years, dating to his arrival at CBS in 1993. CBS had not had a regular late-night talk show for most of its existence prior to that point, with only one attempt (the short-lived Pat Sajak Show in 1990) between 1972 and Letterman's arrival. Letterman, who joined CBS from NBC after ending his eleven-year run as host of Late Night and losing out on being Johnny Carson's successor on The Tonight Show to Jay Leno, was initially competitive with his show's bitter rival, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno; Letterman's Late Show, however, slowly experienced a decline in ratings over the course of the 1990s and 2000s, dating back to an affiliation agreement between New World Communications and Fox that resulted in all nine CBS-affiliated stations it owned or recently acquired switching to Fox between September and December 1994, relegating the network to lower-rated former Fox affiliates and independent stations in many major cities.
Stephen Tyrone Colbert (/koʊlˈbɛər/, né: /ˈkoʊlbərt/; born May 13, 1964) is an American comedian, writer, producer, actor, media critic, and television host. He currently hosts the late-night television talk show The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS.
Colbert had originally studied to be an actor, but became interested in improvisational theatre when he met Second City director Del Close while attending Northwestern University. He first performed professionally as an understudy for Steve Carell at Second City Chicago; among his troupe mates were comedians Paul Dinello and Amy Sedaris, with whom he developed the sketch comedy series Exit 57. Colbert also wrote and performed on the short-lived Dana Carvey Show before collaborating with Sedaris and Dinello again on the cult television series Strangers with Candy. He gained considerable attention for his role on the latter as closeted gay history teacher Chuck Noblet. His work as a correspondent on Comedy Central's news-parody series The Daily Show first introduced him to a wide audience.

In "Double Down," they apply their unparalleled access and storytelling savvy to the 2012 election, rendering an equally compelling narrative about the circuslike Republican nomination fight, the rise and fall of Mitt Romney, and the trials, tribulations, and Election Day triumph of Barack Obama. Halperin and Heilemann will join us at the UChicago Institute of Politics to talk about their new book, as well as about their careers.

War between brothers fighting each against other
Blood will run soon, the story repeats over and over
Sons of same father, bringer of pain
Cursed lineage near to an end
Bastard offspring educated in hate, no hope for them
Defiance are their blades
Sons of same father, bringer of pain
Cursed lineage near to an end
Forgotten in heaven, kings on earth
No time for redemption, just pure living hell
Bred to apostatize
Baptized in blood
Opening the eyes of the skeptic
Destroying the dogmas of this deceived world
Opening the eyes of the skeptic
