Massive Attack are an English trip hop group formed in 1988 in Bristol, consisting of Robert "3D" Del Naja, Grant "Daddy G" Marshall and formerly Andy "Mushroom" Vowles ("Mush"). Their debut album Blue Lines was released in 1991, with the single "Unfinished Sympathy" reaching the charts and later being voted the 63rd greatest song of all time in a poll by NME. 1998's Mezzanine, containing "Teardrop", and 2003's 100th Window charted in the UK at number 1. Both Blue Lines and Mezzanine feature in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The group has won numerous music awards throughout their career, including a Brit Award—winning Best British Dance Act, two MTV Europe Music Awards, and two Q Awards. They have released five studio albums that have sold over 11 million copies worldwide.
DJs Daddy G and Andrew Vowles and graffiti artist-turned-rapper Robert Del Naja met as members of partying collective The Wild Bunch. One of the first homegrown soundsystems in the UK, The Wild Bunch became dominant on the Bristol club scene in the mid-1980s.
Robert Del Naja (/ˈrɒbə(r)t dɛl ˈnaja/; born 21 January 1965), also known as 3D, is an English artist, musician, singer and songwriter. He emerged as a graffiti artist and member of the Bristol collective known as "The Wild Bunch", and later as a founding member of the band Massive Attack, with whom he is still active.
Del Naja is one of the founding members of Bristol trip hop collective Massive Attack. In addition to his work with Massive Attack, he provided vocals to "Invasion" on Unkle's album Never, Never, Land, and "Twilight" on War Stories.
In December 2012, Del Naja released the first single of his new project called "The Battle Box", which fuses music, art and discourse across one-off live events, exhibitions and exclusive vinyl releases. He counted with the collaboration of artists such as Guy Garvey, and the Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band.
In December 2014, Robert donated ten unreleased music tracks to the Game Jam site "Ludum Dare", for a game event taking place in December. The songs will be used by the site developers to make soundtracks for the games. This new music material is also available for free download.

Blue Lines is the debut album by English trip hop group Massive Attack, released on their Wild Bunch label through Virgin Records on 8 April 1991. A remastered version of the album was released on 19 November 2012.
"We worked on Blue Lines for about eight months, with breaks for Christmas and the World Cup," said 3D, "but we started out with a selection of ideas that were up to seven years old. Songs like 'Safe from Harm' and 'Lately' had been around for a while, from when we were The Wild Bunch, or from our time on the sound systems in Bristol. But the more we worked on them, the more we began to conceive new ideas too – like, 'Five Man Army' came together as a jam."
Blue Lines is generally considered the first trip hop album, although the term was not widely used before 1994.
The album reached No. 13 on the UK Albums Chart; sales were limited elsewhere. A fusion of electronic music, hip hop, dub, '70s soul and reggae, it established Massive Attack as one of the most innovative British bands of the 1990s and the founder of trip hop's Bristol Sound.

Avec son premier album Blue Lines (1991), Massive Attack s’est imposé dans les oreilles de toute une génération, mais aussi dans les charts. Massive Attack and video director Walter Stern, accepting their award for Teardrop which won "Best Video" at the MTV Europe Awards 1998, which were held in Milan, Italy on the 12th November 1998. Of mention here, is the slightly infamous incident which was widely reported in the British music press the day after, of when Massive Attack upon accepting their award from the Duchess Of York, Sarah Ferguson, appear none to pleased with her, with 3D declaring to the crowd "Someone's having a fucking laugh". Afterwards, 3D would later explain their dismissal of Sarah Ferguson as "What the fuck has she got to do with music for a start? If someone had told us that was happening we would not be here".

Don't tell your man what he don't do right
Nor tell him all the things that make you cry
But check yourself for your own shit
And don't be making out like it's all his
Take a look around the world
You see such bad things happening
There are many good men
Ask yourself is he one of them
The deadliest of sin is pride
Make you feel like you're always right
But they're always two sides
It takes two to make love, two to make a life
Take a look around the world
You see such mad things happening
There are few good men
