Expedition!

Expedition! is an American travel documentary television series that was broadcast in the United States on ABC Tuesday nights in the 1960-61 television season and Monday nights in the 1961-62 television season.

Summary

Producer John D. Craig hosted episodes that documented journeys to various remote regions of the world, looking for such unusual things as Abominable Snowmen, African bushmen, unfriendly jungle tribes in Brazil, ruined cities of antiquity, and strange animals in their natural habitat. Episodes varied, but all focused on geological, geophysical, biological, anthropological, or archaeological themes.

Production details

The show was sponsored by the Ralston Purina Company, and was broadcast on the ABC television network 7–7:30 PM on Tuesday nights in its first season and on Monday nights in its second season. The first program was broadcast September 20, 1960; the last show was broadcast April 27, 1962. The show received a Thomas Alva Edison award for science education, an Ohio State award for broadcast journalism, and a 1961 Peabody Award for Television Excellence.

The First Generation Sets

Pokémon Demo Game Plastic Pack

The Pokémon Demo Game pack was the earliest Pokémon card pack to be produced in the English Pokémon TCG. This card pack was printed and distributed in December 1998 to select retailers and at Magic: The Gathering (MTG) trading card shows as a limited production run. This Pokémon pack consists of 24 Base Set shadowless cards and an instruction manual. The remaining Pokémon Demo Game packs were given to guests and vendors at the annual E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) event which was held from May 13–15 in 1999. This Pokémon Demo Game pack is considered the "Holy Grail" within the Pokémon trading card game because it was the very first introduction of the Pokémon trading cards within the United States. This Pokémon pack is limited in quantity and predates all other Pokémon Set cards including the 1st edition Base Set cards making these packs extremely rare and valuable. It is estimated that between 100-200 of these Pokémon Demo Game packs remain unopened. The first ever Demo Game pack to be issued a PSA certification number was Demo Game pack #24287143 making it the default earliest known package of English Pokémon cards to remain sealed in existence.

Expedition 48

Expedition 48 is scheduled to be the 48th expedition to the International Space Station.

Jeffrey Williams, Aleksey Ovchinin and Oleg Skripochka are to transfer from Expedition 47. Expedition 48 is scheduled to begin upon the departure of Soyuz TMA-19M in June 2016 and conclude upon the departure of Soyuz TMA-20M in September 2016. The crew of Soyuz MS-01 are then to transfer to Expedition 49.

Tristan

Tristan (Latin & Brythonic: Drustanus; Welsh: Trystan), also known as Tristram, is the male hero of the Arthurian Tristan and Iseult story. He was a Cornish knight of the Round Table. He is the son of Blancheflor and Rivalen (in later versions Isabelle and Meliodas), and the nephew of King Mark of Cornwall, sent to fetch Iseult back from Ireland to wed the king. However, he and Iseult accidentally consume a love potion while en route and fall helplessly in love. The pair undergo numerous trials that test their secret affair.

Tristan legend cycle

Tristan made his first medieval appearance in the twelfth century in Celtic mythology circulating in the north of France and the Kingdom of Brittany, which had close ancestral and cultural links with Cornwall by way of the ancient British kingdom of Dumnonia, as made clear in the story itself, and the closely related Cornish and Breton languages. Although the oldest stories concerning Tristan are lost, some of the derivatives still exist. Most early versions fall into one of two branches, the "courtly" branch represented in the retellings of the Anglo-Norman poet Thomas of Britain and his German successor Gottfried von Strassburg, and in the Folie Tristan d'Oxford; and the "common" branch, including the works of the French. The name Tristan is also known as "Trischin" in the Maltese culture.
