The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For the majority of their history, the band consisted of Sting (lead singer, bassist and principal songwriter), Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (drummer). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and are generally regarded as one of the first new wave groups to achieve mainstream success, playing a style of rock that was influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. They are also considered one of the leaders of the Second British Invasion of the U.S. They disbanded in 1986, but reunited in early 2007 for a one-off world tour that ended in August 2008.
Their 1978 debut album, Outlandos d'Amour, reached No. 6 in the UK, and their second album Reggatta de Blanc became the first of five consecutive UK No. 1 albums.Synchronicity from 1983 was No. 1 in both the UK and U.S., selling over 8 million copies in the U.S. alone. The Police have sold over 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. They were the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, thanks to their reunion tour.
Losing You may refer to:
"Can't Stand Losing You" is a song by English rock band The Police, released from their debut album Outlandos d'Amour, both in 1978. The song also was released as the follow-up single to "Roxanne," reaching no. 2 on a re-release in 1979. It was written by the band's lead singer and bassist Sting as a song about suicide.
The song also gained controversy for its single cover art, featuring Stewart Copeland hanging himself.
"Can't Stand Losing You" features lyrics which, according to Sting, is "about a teenage suicide, which is always a bit of a joke." Sting also claimed that the lyrics took him only five minutes to write.
The original single was banned by the BBC because of the controversial cover (an alternative cover was released in some places). As Sting described: "The reason they [the BBC] had a problem with "Can't Stand Losing You" was because the photo on the cover of the single had Stewart standing on a block of ice with a noose around his neck, waiting for the ice to melt." Despite this, or perhaps because of the extra attention from the controversy, it became the group's first single to break the charts, and has held a spot in their live sets ever since it was written.
A police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a sovereign state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing.
Law enforcement, however, constitutes only part of policing activity. Policing has included an array of activities in different situations, but the predominant ones are concerned with the preservation of order. In some societies, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these developed within the context of maintaining the class system and the protection of private property. Many police forces suffer from police corruption to a greater or lesser degree. The police force is usually a public sector service, meaning they are paid through taxes.

Directed by Joseph Mann Subscribe - http://www.blinkink.co.uk/# Joseph Mann invites us under the floorboards of a quintessentially English pub to sneak a peek at mice behaving badly in this cheeky and charming promo for Police Dog Hogan's 'West Country Boy'. Expertly employing his trademark plethora of techniques, Joseph aptly encapsulates the pub spirit via hand drawn animation, 3D printing, stop-frame animation and live-action puppets, creating a joyful mixed media jamboree. It is a right old Blink family affair with Jonny and Will's puppeteering mastery, Kyle Bean's prop perfection and BlinkInk Studio post production prowess, all for James Studholme's brilliant band, Police Dog Hogan.
Directed by Noah Harris Subscribe - http://www.blinkink.co.uk/#subscribe Following a series of imaginative and technically adventurous commercials, Noah makes a triumphant return to the medium of music video with a stirring new promo for Police Dog Hogan. Noah travelled to the dramatic scenery of Scotland's Cairngorm Mountains to capture a heartfelt story set at the intersection of past and present, following a boy on a symbolic journey through ancient forests and sweeping shores. Noah draws strong performances from the characters, bringing a quiet sense of anguish to the moving narrative, with lingering close-ups powerfully contrasted by the vast emptiness of the landscape. With 'Fraserburgh Train', Noah has added a strongly emotional dimension to his already diverse showreel, render...

This is updated video about my bare breasted walk. Performance contained 161 km long walk from South Estonia, Tartu town where I live to Karepa village in North Estonia by the sea. When weather allowed, I was bare breasted. The walk took 5 days. I arrived on 12th of Aug and presented my final act on Performance Evening “Angst” on 13th of Aug at Karepa, R. Sagrits’ house-museum. I monitored people’s reaction on my way. Since bare breasted women are rare, I wanted to know how people react if they see one in public space. Everybody were calm until we spent longer time in a small town Väike-Maarja, where the TV news filmed me in front of the Municipality Government building. Governor saw me from his window and called police. I spent two hours in police station, explaining why I was walking ...

About the project: November, the 9th, 1999. The fall of the Berlin Wall set the seal on the end of the Iron Curtain, a fence some 7 thousand chilometres that split Europe in two spheres of influence. A division that lasted from the end of World War II to the end of the Cold War. How did the lives of those who grew up along this ideological and political border change? How did the dreams of the boys who jumped on the Wall to celebrate a regained freedom end up? After twenty years from the historical date, four editorial staff - Peacereporter journalist agency, Matteo Scanni, movie director, Becco Giallo comic Editor and Prospekt Photojournalist agency - have decided to travel along the former Iron Curtain border and to tell what it was. Two teams provided by videocamera, photocamera, audi...

“In order to grasp and analyse rhythms, it is necessary to get outside them, but not completely… A certain exteriority enables the analytic intellect to function… In order to grasp this fleeting object, which is not exactly an object, it is therefore necessary to situate oneself simultaneously inside and outside. Interviews with Stewart, Andy and Sting at Melbourne Showground on the day of the final concert of their Synchronicity Tour on March 4, 1984. This was broadcast a week later on ABC's "Countdown" program. Chopped rather heavy-handedly during broadcast recording (I presumably didn't want the other program stuff) I have further edited it to tidy it up a little.
A segment from the long running Australian music TV series Countdown, which aired on the ABC from 1974-1987. This particular segment aired during the Countdown 'End of the Decade' special, a retrospective of the music of the 1970s, which originally aired on December 16, 1979, on the ABC. This clip features an interview of British band The Police, featuring band members Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland, conducted by Countdown Talent Co-Ordinator Molly Meldrum. The interview begins, after a short clip of The Police's 'Message In A Bottle', with Molly asking the band about their relatively fast success, having kept Fleetwood Mac from the Number 1 position in the UK for a long time. A discussion is then had about how The Police achieved the success they have. Also discussed is h...

I've called you so many times today
And I guess it's all true what your girlfriends say
That you don't ever want to see me again
And your brother's gonna kill me and he's six feet ten
I guess you'd call it cowardice
But I'm not prepared to go on like this
I can't, I can't
I can't stand losing
I can't I can't
I can't stand losing
I can't I can't
I can't
I can't stand losing you (x4)
I see you've sent my letters back
And my LP records and they're all scratched
I can't see the point in another day
When nobody listens to a word I say
You can call it lack of confidence
But to carry on living doesn't make no sense
I can't, I can't
I can't stand losing
(x6)
I guess this is our last goodbye
And you don't care so I won't cry
But you'll be sorry when I'm dead
And all this guilt will be on your head
I guess you'd call it suicide
But I'm too full to swallow my pride
I can't, I can't
I can't stand losing
(x13)
