New Zealand and 7
Indian wickets in a day of test match cricket
NZ all out on 105 one of the lowest total in test cricket history
Team India scored 87 runs at the loss of one wicket by the end of Day 3 against New Zealand at the
Eden Park stadium in
Auckland. It was a surprising day of cricket, especially when compared with the first two days. It was business as usual for New Zealand early in day as the hosts restricted
India to 202 runs and gained a healthy lead in the game. However,
Brendon McCullum's decision for not asking India to follow-on might have changed the course of the match for good. New Zealand skipper will be thinking about that decision all through the day as the hosts were skittled out by the
Indians for a paltry 105-run total.
Mohammed Shami and
Ishant Sharma were ion business throughout the Kiwis innings alongside contributions from
Zaheer Khan and
Ravindra Jadeja. India's fielding was another area that showcased improvement and added to the dismay of the Kiwis. New Zealand managed to pick a wicket today which should keep them positive.
Despite a significant turn-around, the Kiwis are still ahead in the race. India require another 320 runs to win this one and tommorow's early session will be crucial for both the teams.
India managed to recover from early blows and were 130 for 4 in reply to New Zealand
503 when bad light forced the umpire's to call off the play early on day two of the second
Test at Eden Park on Friday.
Rohit Sharma (67*) and
Ajinkya Rahane (23*), who were at the crease when play was abandoned for the day have added a 79-run stand between them for the fifth wicket.
At the moment, India are 87/1 needing a further 320 runs to win. There is plenty of time to get the runs and India find themselves in a good position. However, tomorrow is another day and there is plenty of ground to be made. The Kiwis will come out all charged up and ready to have a crack at the Indians. Should be another cracker of a day, do join us then for Day 4 action at 0300
IST again. That is all from us then! See you tomorrow.
A miraculous recovery from the Indians saw them knock out the Kiwis for a paltry 105 with Ishant Sharma and
Shami Ahmed doing most of the damage. With a target of 407, India were chasing history as the score has never been scaled in the fourth innings by an Indian team to win a
Test match. They started positively with Dhawan and
Vijay both looking confident. Vijay lost his wicket rather unluckily when he was caught down leg but
Pujara and Dhawan ensured that there were no further hiccups.
That brings to end, a staggering day of
Test cricket. 264 runs were scored for 17 wickets, a day of tremendous ups and downs. NZ started the day with blood on their hands as they skittled out the Indians for 202, taking a commanding lead of
301 runs. Just when they thought they were firmly on top, Indians decided to give them a taste of their own medicine.
