Mirfield
Coordinates: 53°40′51″N 1°41′20″W / 53.6807°N 1.6888°W / 53.6807; -1.6888
Mirfield is a small town and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is located on the A644 road between Brighouse and Dewsbury. In the 2001 census it was recorded as having a total resident population of 18,621.
The town is served by Mirfield railway station.
Governance
From 1894 to 1974, Mirfield was an urban district in the West Riding of Yorkshire until it was merged into the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees. In 1988 a parish council was formed, one of five in Kirklees, the others being:- Denby Dale, Meltham, Kirkburton and Holme Valley. As a parish council an additional tax precept to the Kirklees MBC tax is levied on the towns residents. It is made up of 16 councillors who serve for a fixed four-year term, and represent wards within the parish. The members elect a town mayor, who serves for a fixed one-year term.

Tour de Yorkshire
The Tour de Yorkshire is a three-day road cycling race in Yorkshire, England. The first edition was held on 1–3 May 2015. It is promoted by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) and is rated as a 2.1 event as part of the UCI Europe Tour.
The idea for the race arose as a legacy event following the significant success of the visit of the 2014 Tour de France to the county. The first two stages of the 2014 Tour, also organised by ASO, from Leeds to Harrogate, and York to Sheffield, were nicknamed Le Tour de Yorkshire.
2015 Tour
The dates of the inaugural event were announced in September 2014, and the route for the event was published in January 2015.
2016 Tour
British Cycling rejected an application by the organisers Welcome to Yorkshire and ASO to increase the race to four days for 2016.

This film was taken from a walk beginning at 15:40 next to Leeds Railway Station on Princes Square and ending just shortly after 18:20 on East Street (A61).
The film features views of the River Aire at full flow and in flood: at Leeds Station Southern Entrance; from Victoria Bridge; from behind Asda House; on Meadow Lane; on Water Lane; at Bridge End; from Leeds Bridge; from Riverside Court; from Centenary Bridge; at Brewery Place; along Dock Street; from behind Oracle; from Crown Point Bridge; along East Street; through Turlow Court; and most dramatically at the junction of East Street (A61) and Marsh Lane.
At 11:50 there is a barge which has become wedged under a balcony / walkway, lifting the balcony / walkway above it. This is just under Centenary Bridge, opposite Oracle Bar.
**PLEASE NOTE** The last few minutes of the video near East Street have corrupted, they can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzhS-OPAeSk .
According to the Environment Agency, the River Aire went on to reach 2.93 metres at Crown Point at 23:30. It's typical height is between 0.53 and 1.35 metres.

Officers in Dewsbury and Mirfield Neighbourhood policing teams carried out a pre-planned police operation on the London Park estate, to reduce crime and tackle anti-social behaviour. On Friday 16 December at 2pm and then on Saturday 17 December, uniformed Neighbourhood officers, mounted police officers and roads policing teams were present on the London Park Estate, meeting at the Mirfield Community Centre, on Water Royd Lane....
