Tracy Chevalier, bestselling author of Girl with a Pearl Earring, speaks to BBC Breakfast's Bill Turnbull and Susanna Reid about her latest novel, The Last Runaway. Take a look at just some of the great reviews already received: 'I have always admired Tracy Chevalier's un-showy brilliance, and this moving story of a young English Quaker girl trapped between duty and conscience in 1850s Ohio is the best thing she's written since Girl with a Pearl Earring' Rose Tremain 'The Last Runaway is a joy to read. Chevalier handles the intersection of two stories -- those of pioneering Quakers and escaping slaves -- with verve, imagination and, above all, compassion' Maggie O'Farrell 'A brave, warm-hearted, moving book; the characters are well-drawn and credible; the local colour meticulously de...

She’s quite a bestselling author, brought us (and Hollywood) the „Girl with a Pearl Earring“: American British historical novelist Tracy Chevalier, 53. Her latest book „At the Edge of the Orchard“ is all about apples and apple trees in the middle of nowhere in the 19th century in Ohio. And all about migration of the people…! Does this remind you of something just going on in Europe today? (Courtesy of BBC One breakfast with Louise Minchin and Dan Walker)

I have had the same dreams many times it haunts my mind
It starts with a light but it ends every time
Oh so many faces that this world will never see
A reason for your life but your heart will never be
May our tears fall down
Let them soften this ground
May our hearts be found
God forgive us now
Oh what have we lost because we chose we'll never know
And loving you is better than feeling alone
And all our claims to freedom have become these heavy chains
And in the name of rights we keep filling nameless graves
Let the tears fall down
Let them soften this ground
Let our hearts be found
God forgive us now
