MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

Bob Christo
Robert John Christo, popularly known as Bob Christo (Hindi: बोब क्रिस्टो), was an Australian-Indian civil engineer and actor in Hindi films. Starting with Sanjay Khan's Abdullah (1980), he went on to act in over 200 Hindi films in the 1980s and 1990s, including Qurbani (1980), Kaalia (1981), Nastik (1983), Mard (1985), Mr India (1987), Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993) and Gumraah (1993), mostly playing roles as a henchman or an Army General.
Career
Born in Sydney, Australia, Christo was a qualified Civil Engineer. He had two brothers, Helmut and Mike. Known for his brawny physique and bald headed look, Bob arrived in Mumbai, India whilst awaiting a work permit to expatriate to Muscat. It is in Mumbai where he was introduced to Bollywood actress Parveen Babi who enabled him his first steps into the world of Hindi films.
He received his first break, as a typecast villain in the Hindi movie Abdullah in 1980. Christo decided to stay in India and appeared in over 200 movies in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. His film career had restricted him to typecasted roles as an antagonist to the main villain, or a British Indian army officer in pre-war related movies.

MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

Devanarayanan (Mohanlal) is a Brahmin priest, who has to look after the entire family. He is in love with Shobana but her father Innocent is against their relationship. M.G Soman falsely accuses Mohanlal, of the theft of "Temple thiruvabharana" and forces him to leave his village in Kerala.He reaches Bombay where he gets shelter from Balan. K. Nair and family, who runs a tea shop. Monisha is the daughter of Balan. K. Nair. Some turn of events draws Mohanlal into the underworld and he becomes the trusted aide of the ageing don Kareem (Goga Kapoor).
Ramya Krishnan, who is working for the same gang, gets closer to Mohanlal. Jhonny, from the same gang, joins hands together with rival don ( Sharat Saxena ) and Kareem's son and daughter-in-law, Monisha are killed leaving Kareem on a path towards religion and leaving all underworld business.Sharat Saxena plans to leave Bombay, but Mohanlal gets him arrested. Later he proves his innocence to his father. But that time Sharat Saxena killed Ramya Krishnan. In climax, Mohanlal killed the villain.

In an unspecified Arab country, Khaleel (Danny Denzongpa) is a dangerous outlaw bringing terror to the land. Sheikh Mohammed Al-Kamal (Sanjay Khan) is a man of honour, who helps to protect people from harm and is asked by the government to help search for Khaleel. The quest to bring Khaleel to justice becomes a personal one for the Sheikh when his wife Zainab (Zeenat Aman) is injured during a bungled kidnap attempt by Khaleel.
Abdullah (Raj Kapoor) is a devout Muslim who lives in a small hut in the middle of the desert, and looks after a well which provides water to thirsty travelers. One day a friend, Ameer(Sanjeev Kumar), informs him that Khaleel had raided a settlement nearby, killing everyone except for Yashoda (Farida Jalal), a pregnant woman. Shortly thereafter, Ameer himself is killed, a mortally wounded Yashoda gives birth to a boy, names him Krishna, asks Abdullah to care for him, and passes away. Abdullah overcomes his fears of bringing up a Hindu boy, and looks after Krishna as his own son.
One day Khaleel's magician (Bob Christo) informs him that he is going to die at the hands of Krishna. Just as the Hindu deity Krishna once slew Kamsa, his maternal uncle, so also will Khaleel's life end at this Krishna's hands. Angered by this, Khaleel sets out to kill Krishna. He attacks Abdullah, abducts Krishna and readies to kill the boy to get rid of any threat against him. Synopsis - Raja Azaad Singh rules over his people with compassion and fairness, and as result this region prospers. His wife, Durga, gives birth to a son, and there is considerable jubilation amongst his subjects. Then the British decide to take over his region, Azaad fights bravely, but he is outnumbered, both he and Durga are taken prisoner and made to work as slaves. Loyal subjects assist in getting their son out of the region, where he is adopted by a kind woman Jamuna and her husband. Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena. Watch how father and son unknowingly fight each other, knowing fully well that only one of them will survive to tell this tale.

Synopsis - Raja Azaad Singh rules over his people with compassion and fairness, and as result this region prospers. His wife, Durga, gives birth to a son, and there is considerable jubilation amongst his subjects. Then the British decide to take over his region, Azaad fights bravely, but he is outnumbered, both he and Durga are taken prisoner and made to work as slaves. Loyal subjects assist in getting their son out of the region, where he is adopted by a kind woman Jamuna and her husband. Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena. Watch how father and son unknowingly fight each other, knowing fully well that only one of them will survive to tell this tale.

In an unspecified Arab country, Khaleel (Danny Denzongpa) is a dangerous outlaw bringing terror to the land. Sheikh Mohammed Al-Kamal (Sanjay Khan) is a man of honour, who helps to protect people from harm and is asked by the government to help search for Khaleel. The quest to bring Khaleel to justice becomes a personal one for the Sheikh when his wife Zainab (Zeenat Aman) is injured during a bungled kidnap attempt by Khaleel.
Abdullah (Raj Kapoor) is a devout Muslim who lives in a small hut in the middle of the desert, and looks after a well which provides water to thirsty travelers. One day a friend, Ameer(Sanjeev Kumar), informs him that Khaleel had raided a settlement nearby, killing everyone except for Yashoda (Farida Jalal), a pregnant woman. Shortly thereafter, Ameer himself is killed, a mortally wounded Yashoda gives birth to a boy, names him Krishna, asks Abdullah to care for him, and passes away. Abdullah overcomes his fears of bringing up a Hindu boy, and looks after Krishna as his own son.
One day Khaleel's magician (Bob Christo) informs him that he is going to die at the hands of Krishna. Just as the Hindu deity Krishna once slew Kansa, his maternal uncle, so also will Khaleel's life end at this Krishna's hands. Angered by this, Khaleel sets out to kill Krishna. He attacks Abdullah, abducts Krishna and readies to kill the boy to get rid of any threat against him. In response, Abdullah and the Sheikh set out to stop this and to deal with Khaleel once and for all.

Synopsis:After being critically wounded and losing his left arm, Captain Jaswant Kumar is discharged from the Indian army and goes to live with Journalist A.V. Razdan in Shanti Nagar, Bombay. Ironically, Shanti Nagar is far from peaceful as it is ruled by extortionists like Peter Gonsalves and Jaichand Khurana who work for underworld don, Taneja. Jaswant and a local taxi-driver, Raju Varma, decide to put up a fight and attempt to drive the goons away - with considerable success much to the chagrin of Taneja, who hires a killer named Raaka to do away with them. Instead they end up befriending Raaka and join forces against Taneja himself. But Jaswant and Raju will soon find out that Raaka never befriends anyone and always disposes off his enemies when they end up getting arrested for smuggling and are sentenced to two years in prison - leaving Taneja and his men to carry on with their nefarious activities.

Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena. His wife, Durga, gives birth to a son, and there is considerable jubilation amongst his subjects. Then the British decide to take over his region, Azaad fights bravely, but he is outnumbered, both he and Durga are taken prisoner and made to work as slaves. Loyal subjects assist in getting their son out of the region, where he is adopted by a kind woman Jamuna and her husband. Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena.
