Naruto

Naruto (ナルト) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who constantly searches for recognition and dreams to become the Hokage, the ninja in his village who is acknowledged as the leader and the strongest of all. The series is based on a one-shot manga by Kishimoto that was published in the August 1997 issue of Akamaru Jump.

Naruto was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from the 43rd issue of 1999 to the 50th issue of 2014, with the chapters collected into seventy-two tankōbon volumes by Shueisha. The manga was later adapted into a television anime, which was produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex. It premiered across Japan on the terrestrial TV Tokyo and other TX Network stations on October 3, 2002. The first series lasted 220 episodes, while Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, has been airing since February 15, 2007. In addition to the anime series, Studio Pierrot has developed ten movies and several original video animations. Other types of merchandise include light novels, video games, and trading cards developed by several companies.

The episodes of the fourth season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The season follows the return of the criminal organization Akatsuki who are searching for the hosts of the tailed-beasts and their encounter with ninjas from the village Konohagakure. The fourth season was broadcast on TV Tokyo in Japan, between August 21 and December 11, 2008. The season was later released on four DVDs in Japan by Aniplex between January 14 and May 13, 2009. The season was referred to by these DVDs as the chapter of Immortal Devastators — Hidan and Kakuzu (不死の破壊者、飛段・角都, Fushi no Hakaisha Hidan Kakuzu).

On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes. The English dub aired on Disney XD between March 16 and July 23, 2011. Viz Media released the season in two DVD boxes on April 26, 2011 and July 12, 2011.Manga Entertainment also collected it in two DVD boxes with the first one released on July 11, 2011 and the second set to November 7, 2011.

List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes (season 1)

The episodes of the first season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. Set two years and a half after the ending from the Naruto anime, the season follows Naruto Uzumaki and his comrades going through a mission to rescue Gaara, the leader from the ninja village Sunagakure, from the criminal organization Akatsuki. The episodes began airing on February 15, 2007 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and the first season finished on October 25, 2007. The first season was released on DVD in Japan over eight discs between August 1, 2007 and March 5, 2008 under the name of Kazekage Rescue (風影奪還, Kazekage Dakkan). There is also a special feature included with the seventh Naruto: Shippuden compilation DVD based on the second ending of the series called Hurricane! "Konoha Academy" Chronicles (疾風!"木ノ葉学園"伝, Shippū! "Konoha Gakuen" Den).

Toshiyori

A toshiyori (年寄) is a sumo elder of the Japan Sumo Association. Also known as oyakata, former wrestlers who reached a sufficiently high rank are the only people eligible. The benefits are considerable, as only toshiyori are allowed to run and coach in sumo stables, known as heya, and they are also the only former wrestlers given retirement pay.

To become an elder, a retiring wrestler must be a Japanese citizen and must have fought at least one tournament in the san'yaku ranks, or else twenty tournaments in the top makuuchi division or thirty as a sekitori (makuuchi or jūryō division). (The rules were modified in November 2013 to allow membership after only 28 sekitori tournaments in certain circumstances.) However, membership can only be obtained by purchasing toshiyori-kabu, or elder stock, in the Japan Sumo Association. There are only 105 shares available for purchase, and the increasing lifespan of elders has meant that they take longer to become vacant. As a result, their decreasing availability has caused their price to greatly increase, with stock now reportedly selling for up to 500 million yen. Often the only way wrestlers, even very successful ones, can afford a share is if they have a large and wealthy group of supporters and financial backers.

List of Naruto: Shippuden episodes (season 6)

The thirty-one episodes of the sixth season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The sixth season began airing on June 11, 2009 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and finished on January 14, 2010. The English dubbed version of this season began on January 12, 2013 and ended in the same year, February 4 on Neon Alley. They are centered on Sasuke Uchiha's quest of revenge against his older brother Itachi for their clan's destruction. It also features two arcs focusing on the background stories of Kakashi Hatake and Jiraiya. The season is referred to by its DVDs as the chapter of Master's Prophecy and Vengeance (師の予言と復讐, Shi no Yogen to Fukushū) released by Aniplex.

The seven DVD volumes were released in Japan between January 13, 2010 and July 7, 2011. Limited edition of Seventh DVD of "Master's Prophecy and Vengeance" comes with special DVD Behind the Scenes of Uchiha containing interview mixed with footage from episodes. Episodes 119-120, which detail the story of a young Kakashi and his teammate Obito Uchiha, were released on separate disc on December 16, 2009 under the title of Kakashi Chronicles: Boys' Life on the Battlefield (カカシ外伝～戦場のボーイズライフ～, Kakashi Gaiden ~Senjō no Bōizu Raifu~).

The episodes of the fifth season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The fifth season began airing on December 18, 2008 on TV Tokyo in Japan, and finished on June 4, 2009. The season is referred to by its Japanese DVDs as the chapter of The Three-Tailed Demon Turtle (三尾出現, Sanbi Shutsugen). A total of six volumes were published by Aniplex between June 3, 2009 and November 4, 2011. This season follows the Konohagakure ninjas in a mission to find the criminal Orochimaru.

On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes. The English dub of this season premiered on July 30, 2011 on Disney XD; episodes 89 to 97 were broadcast until the show was removed from Disney XD's schedule. The season continued on Neon Alley with episode 98 on December 29, 2012 and ended on January 7, 2013. Its first twelve episodes were collected in a DVD box by Viz Media on October 11, 2011. Additionally, Manga Entertainment collected its first episodes alongside the last ones from the previous season on November 7, 2011 in a 2-disc DVD set in the United Kingdom.

The episodes of the third season of the anime series Naruto: Shippuden are directed by Hayato Date and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo. They are based on Part II of the Naruto manga series by Masashi Kishimoto. The third season was broadcast on TV Tokyo in Japan, between April 3, and August 14, 2008. Titled in Japan Twelve Guardian Ninja (守護忍十二士, Shugonin Jūnishi), it follows the ninja group Team Kakashi who meet a monk-in-training name Sora who is related to a figure from Asuma Sarutobi's past whose goal is the destruction of Konohagakure.

The season was later released on three DVDs in Japan between September 3 and November 5, 2008 by Aniplex. On January 2, 2009 Viz Media and Crunchyroll began providing subtitled Naruto: Shippuden episodes. The English dub began airing on Disney XD on October 28, 2009, with this season airing between November 3, 2010 and March 9, 2011. Viz Media also released it in two DVD boxes on January 25 and April 26, 2011.Manga Entertainment released it in two boxes in the United Kingdom on May 16, 2011 and July 11, 2011.
