Harajuku Station
Sunday outside of harajuku station where all the kids gather on their day off. It has become pretty much a tourist attraction, more gaijin then actual youth these days, but it is still interesting to see. You will see a lot of gothic lolita and morbid wear, and one giant transsexual. It was raining when this video was shot, but there was still a pretty big turn out. Last Sunday there was a group of mormons praying within the middle of all the kids. I don't know who is seeking attention more the mormons or the kids, but either way their means of achieve it is rather immature.

Coming around the Harajuku Station overpass, I see this Rock & Roll band playing. There are lights and girls dancing in choreographed moves... it was an MTV video, in real life But no camera... well, except mine, for that day Their sound reminds me of late 70's early 80's West coast pop rock. All them hooks and the coordinated whiplash speed at which the audience shook their heads, just makes you want to Live!! This could've been one great stadium rock band.. but alas, they disbanded in 2004??

After the pleasant once-in-a-year visit to Meiji Shrine, the platform of Harajuku Station signaled the return to normal Tokyo life - more trains. JR Yamanote Line trains 1 arriving and 2 departing Harajuku station
Just after a visit to the Meiji shrine I took the Yamanote Line to Ueno station. I was only meaning to catch a video of the train bound for Shibuya (1st train) but I also got one arriving that was heading towards Ueno station (2nd train). I'll try to get more videos of JR and Tokyo metro during my stay here in Japan.

This station is served by the following line:The Chiyoda Line Meiji-Jingumae Station is immediately adjacent Harajuku Station and is marked as an interchange on most route maps, although there is no physical connection between the two stations.
Layout
The station consists of a single island platform. A temporary platform is located on the west side of the station usable by trains traveling towards Shinjuku which is used when major events occur in the area, especially around New Year when many people visit Meiji Shrine.
The bathrooms of Harajuku station also act as mini dressing rooms for the many teenagers and rebellious youths who express themselves through the outrageous fashions for which Harajuku is famous.
The main entrance is at the southern end of the station. A smaller entrance leading to the centre of the platform is convenient for Takeshita-dōri, another famous area in Harajuku. Takeshita-dōri is a popular shopping street and the Takeshita-dōri entrance to Harajuku Station is often very crowded. This congestion creates a bottleneck on weekends when scores of tourists and locals arrive and leave the shopping areas in and around Takeshita-dōri.
To the north of the station there is a separate platform serving a loop on the east side of the freight line for use by the Imperial train.
