The Kola Peninsula (from Northern Sami: Guoládat; Russian: Ко́льский полуо́стров, Kolsky poluostrov) is a peninsula in the far northwest of Russia. Constituting the bulk of the territory of Murmansk Oblast, it lies almost completely to the north of the Arctic Circle and is washed by the Barents Sea in the north and the White Sea in the east and southeast. The city of Murmansk is the most populous human settlement on the peninsula, with the population of over 300,000 as of the 2010 Census.
Despite its northerly location, closeness of the peninsula to the Gulf Stream leads to unusually high temperatures in winter, but also results in high winds due to the temperature variations between land and the Barents Sea. Summers are rather chilly, with the average July temperature of only +11 °C (52 °F). The peninsula is covered by taiga in the south and tundra in the north, where permafrost limits the growth of the trees resulting in landscape dominated by shrubs and grasses. The peninsula supports a small variety of mammals, and its rivers are an important habitat for the Atlantic salmon. The Kandalaksha Nature Reserve, established to protect the population of Common Eider, is located in the Kandalaksha Gulf.

Peruvian cuisine is one of the most diverse in the world. Distinct influences come from its three main geographical zones – the coast, the jungle and the Andean Highlands and various immigrant cultures. What you find is a melting pot of flavors receiving International recognition. Peruvians are proud of their cuisine and for good reason. In this video we try to explore as many different kinds of Peruvian foods as possible. With only three weeks in Lima we had our work cut-out for us given the diversity of things to try. What exactly did we sample? Well, we ate Churros, Picarones, Turron, Ceviche, Tejas, Cremoladas, Tamales, Pan Con Chicharron, Alfajores, Cuy, King Kong, Mazamorra Marada, Pisco Sour, Inca Kola, Doña Pepa, Kamote, Sublime, Chicha Morada and Besos de Moza just to name a few. Kola Peninsula an important PGM prospect - Eurasia Mining chief
Christian Schaffalitzky, managing director and chief executive of Eurasia Mining Plc (LON:EUA), says the Kola peninsula “holds out the prospect of being a very important platinum group metal producing area in the future . Eurasia has a good presence in the Kola region and has a project that’s capable of doing that.” The boss of the PGM exploration and development company spoke to Proactive after announcing positive drill results from its Monchetundra project in the far northwest of Russia, which should lead to defining a reserve estimate. Next steps include producing a resource estimate and further work on metallurgy, hydro-geological and environmental considerations which are all designed to produce a pre-feasibility study for governmental reporting. -

The Kola Peninsula is a peninsula in the far northwest of Russia. Constituting the bulk of the territory of Murmansk Oblast, it lies almost completely to the north of the Arctic Circle and is bordered by the Barents Sea in the north and the White Sea in the east and southeast. The city of Murmansk is the most populous human settlement on the peninsula, with a population of over 300,000 as of the 2010 Census. The Kola Peninsula is a peninsula in the far northwest of Russia. Constituting the bulk of the territory of Murmansk Oblast, it lies almost completely to the north of the Arctic Circle and is bordered by the Barents Sea in the north and the White Sea in the east and southeast. The city of Murmansk is the most populous human settlement on the peninsula, with a population of over 300,000 as of the 2010 Census.
Despite the peninsula's northerly location, its proximity to the Gulf Stream leads to unusually high temperatures in winter, but also results in high winds due to the temperature variations between land and the Barents Sea. Summers are rather chilly, with the average July temperature of only 11 °C. The peninsula is covered by taiga in the south and tundra in the north, where permafrost limits the growth of the trees resulting in landscape dominated by shrubs and grasses. The peninsula supports a small variety of mammals, and its rivers are an important habitat for the Atlantic salmon. The Kandalaksha Nature Reserve, established to protect the population of common eider, is located in the Kandalaksha Gulf.

The Mariana Trench or Marianas Trench is the deepest known part of the world's oceans. It is located in the western Pacific Ocean, to the east of the Mariana Islands. The trench is about 2,550 kilometres (1,580 mi) long but has an average width of only 69 kilometres (43 mi). It reaches a maximum-known depth of 10,994 m (± 40 m) or 6.831 mi (36,070 ± 131 ft) at the Challenger Deep, a small slot-shaped valley in its floor, at its southern end,although some unrepeated measurements place the deepest portion at 11.03 kilometres (6.85 mi).

The Kola Superdeep Borehole (Russian: Кольская сверхглубокая скважина, Kolskaya sverkhglubokaya skvazhina) is the result of a scientific drilling project of the Soviet Union in the Pechengsky District, on the Kola Peninsula. The project attempted to drill as deep as possible into the Earth's crust. Drilling began on 24 May 1970 using the Uralmash-4E, and later the Uralmash-15000 series drilling rig. Eight years ago two latvian adventurers- Jānis and Andis- dared to quit everyday routine and start the journey to fulfill their dream- to travel 28000 km from Riga to Australia, the same route never taken by anyone before. Back then, they didn't have modern, high quality GoPro cameras or a professional filming crew with a large budget following them. It was only them, the road and the destination, and the people with their unique stories that they met along the road, the different cultures and crazy adventures. As a final result, a documentary film ''On the way of freedom'' was made, this title was given to the film because, for the two adventurers, the road itself is the ultimate freedom.
The idea of this expedition lives on. The next goal is to travel all of the former Soviet union countries and show them from the motorcyclist perspective, and to share the experience with other motorcyclists. In expeditions like these, suprises aren't uncommon. The first goal was completed- the adventurers have driven the road to the Caucasus, but for various reasons were not able to enter Georgia, so they moved on to explore Abkhazia. All of their travels and adventures are documented on a film which will be avaliable soon.
While the first film in the series is still in the making, we offer you a throwback from 8 years ago, when the idea was born- the trial trip before the journey to Australia.
