Billy the Kid is a 1930 American film directed in widescreen by King Vidor about the relationship between frontier outlaw Billy the Kid (Johnny Mack Brown, billed as "John Mack Brown") and Pat Garrett (Wallace Beery), the man who later killed him.
Directed by King Vidor, the movie was filmed in an early widescreen process called Realife, a 70mm format similar to Fox Film Corporation's Grandeur used for the lavish The Big Trail the same year.
While The Big Trail, starring John Wayne, has been restored so that the 1930 widescreen process can be evaluated by modern viewers, no widescreen prints of Billy the Kid are known to currently exist and the movie can only be viewed in a standard-width version that was filmed simultaneously. Widescreen did not get a commercial foothold until The Robe two decades later.
In some newspaper ads, the more familiar Beery, a major star and frequent supporting player since the teens during the silent era, was accorded top billing over young Brown but not in the main posters. Within two years Beery had contractually become MGM's highest paid actor while John Mack Brown was rechristened "Johnny Mack Brown" and demoted into B-Westerns.

Plot: When horror romance novelist John Cassidy and his family move to the sleepy suburbs of Harker Heights, they realize John's new found fame comes with a "Price". The neighborhood is populated by a bickering couple, an overzealous ex-cop, a boozing playboy, a nosy neighbor, and a mysterious Homeowners Association head, just like any other upper middle class enclave. But when the busybody turns wallflower, the womanizer becomes more interested in raw meat than female flesh, and unsolved murders begin to pile up, John gets suspicious. He soon discovers the HOA leader, Mr. Price and his minions are even more sinister than they seem. When Price kidnaps John's daughter, he is forced to spring into action and with the aid of his slacker brother Bobby, a rag-tag team of neighbors and guidance from his sleazy agent Vincent Graves, he begins to wage a battle between good and evil. The crew of misfits face a lineup of creatures that seem torn from the pages of John's novels, but the most evil of them may be his agent who proves greed is the worst monster of all. A climactic battle in a classic setting finds John and his gang of ne'er-do-wells in a life or death struggle to find the truth, rescue his daughter, save his neighborhood and perhaps the world.

Plot: 4 mildly intelligent, that's being very generous with that analysis, rock n rollers trying to make it to a gig at another dead end club, 6 socially retarded misfits, and one small deity all collide for a strange gathering in a rural farmhouse.A twisted tale of sinners sinning, suffering, and paying their dues. A hectic road trip in an autistic automible. Drug addiction, alcoholism, and child abuse. What more could you crave. How about some blasting rock n roll songs, and a few mysterious zombies for good measure all compressed into far too short of a time. Not enough for you huh? crucifixion more your thing. Well we provide one of those as well. Lofi gore effects prevail in this fun and frantic little film. Grade B prime cut!

Plot: Another in the series of Don Barry starring films (who NEVER used Don 'Red' Barry as his billing except in his series of Republic westerns from 1940-44 and the serial "The Adventures of Red Ryder"), financed by Robert L. Lippert and produced by William Berke all as A Donald Barry Production in the late 40's and early 50's, this one pretty much follows the semi-inaccuracies and myths found in the vast majority of the films about Billy the Kid, while adding a narration - a trend found in many B-westerns of this period evidently under the mistaken impression it would add some class to the proceedings. It didn't. And having a 38-year-old actor play an outlaw who died when he was 21 gave Barry an opportunity to darken his hair to nearly black and pull out, what appears to be, the forelock hairpiece he used for the Red Ryder serial in 1940 to make him look more like the character as drawn by Fred Harman. It didn't make him look much like the real Billy the Kid, though.

Plot: Newly appointed sheriff Pat Garrett is pleased when his old friend Doc Holliday arrives in Lincoln, New Mexico on the stage. Doc is trailing his stolen horse, and it is discovered in the possession of Billy the Kid. In a surprising turnaround, Billy and Doc become friends. This causes the friendship between Doc and Pat to cool. The odd relationship between Doc and Billy grows stranger when Doc hides Billy at his girl, Rio's, place after Billy is shot. She falls for Billy, although he treats her very badly. Interaction between these four is played out against an Indian attack before a final showdown reduces the group's number.
