Badass 10-Year-Old Girl Shuts Down BBC Daily Politics Presenter

Kids say the funniest things but it’s safe to say we still never expected to see a veteran BBC politics presenter absolutely humbled and shut down by a 10-year-old. Given that Daily Politics host Andrew Neil is used to grilling politicians and celebrities, it was pretty incredible to see him reduced to a mumbling mess by a young schoolgirl. Charlotte, from the Wirral, was one of two children – alongside fellow 10-year-old Henrietta from Worcester – who appeared on the show this morning to discuss whether the government should ban unhealthy food in schools, reports the Mirror. As if it wasn’t incredible enough that a 10-year-old had clearly done more research ahead of her Daily Politics appearance than most actual politicians do, she then laid into the presenter with this absolutely badass putdown. When asked during the debate over sugar tax on fizzy drinks whether she understood the concept of the ‘nanny state’, Charlotte absolutely schooled Neil with this cutting insult. Here’s how the exchange went down: Charlotte: Well Mr Neil, do you remember on Jan 1 1983 when seatbelts were made compulsory? It wasn’t a popular idea. People didn’t like it. But do you know how many lives it saved a year? Three hundred lives per year because the government did something. Andrew: When I was your age and someone told me not to do something, that usually meant I tried to do it. Charlotte: Well, maybe you weren’t educated properly enough about health and wellbeing. Holy shit! Do you need some ice for that sick burn, Andrew? To be fair to the big man, he did respond in good humour, noting: “Many people have said that.” We expect to see Charlotte in the House of Commons very soon. This sounds like someone who can get shit done!
