This is a list of fictional characters in the television series Heroes, the Heroes graphic novels, and the Heroes webisodes.
In its inaugural season, Heroes featured an ensemble cast of twelve main characters. During the first season, the NBC Heroes cast page listed ten characters among the cast; Leonard Roberts arrived later, and Jack Coleman was promoted to series regular as of the eleventh episode.
For the second season of the show, Santiago Cabrera, Tawny Cypress, and Leonard Roberts left the main cast. Zachary Quinto and James Kyson Lee, who were recurring characters in the first season, were added to the main cast for the second season, and were joined by new cast members David Anders, Kristen Bell, Dania Ramírez, and Dana Davis. Anders was originally to be a recurring character, but was promoted to a series regular prior to the start of the season. He is credited as a guest star for the first four episodes of season two.
For the third season, Cristine Rose, recurring in the first two seasons, was promoted to series regular. Kristen Bell, David Anders, and Noah Gray-Cabey were no longer regulars and became guest cast. Additionally, Dana Davis was no longer part of the main cast, with scenes involving her in the third season cut.
For the fourth season, a new character Samuel Sullivan (portrayed by Robert Knepper) has been added. Originally cast as a recurring part, the part has been changed to a starring role.[1]
Unlike most series, each main cast member is only credited for the episode he/she appears in.
Charlene "Charlie" Andrews, portrayed by Jayma Mays (with K Callan playing an elderly Charlie in one episode), is a waitress at the Burnt Toast Diner in Midland, Texas, where Hiro Nakamura and Ando Masahashi stop to eat on their road trip to New York. After she reveals to Hiro that she had recently developed the ability to quickly memorize and recall any information with great accuracy in a seemingly unlimited volume, Sylar murders her in the diner's storeroom, removing her brain in the same manner as his other victims.[5] Hiro tries to prevent her murder by going back in time one day to warn her, but he accidentally goes back six months, to April 24 (Charlie's birthday). He convinces Charlie that both he and she have special powers by stopping time to make one thousand origami cranes. After taking a job at the diner and dating Charlie, Hiro buys two tickets to take her to Tokyo. Charlie ponders her feelings and tells Hiro that while she does not usually let people get close to her due to a blood clot and aneurism in her brain that is killing her, he makes her feel happy and she loves him. However, when Hiro and Charlie are about to kiss, he inadvertently teleports back to present day Japan and is unable to return; as a result, Charlie still goes to work on the day of her murder.[6]
Charlie and Hiro's relationship is the subject of the novel Heroes: Saving Charlie.
In season 4 episode "Tabula Rasa", Hiro travels back in time to attempt to save Charlie again. In "Once Upon a Time in Texas", Hiro both saves her from Sylar and persuades him to remove the blood clot in her brain. Just as things seem to be going well, Samuel has Arnold trap her somewhere in time and reveals that he will only tell Hiro how to find her if he does what he says. In "Brave New World", Hiro receives a note from a 85-year-old Charlie who's in a nearby room. She reveals that Arnold teleported her to January 26, 1944 in Milwaukee and she lived a full life with her blood clot never bothering her again. She has married with four children and seven grandchildren and is apparently dying now. Hiro offers to teleport to 1944 to get her and return her to her time, but she refuses as she feels she's lived her life and is happy as she is. She says goodbye to Hiro as her family comes in and watches as Hiro teleports off with Ando through a window.
Charles Deveaux, portrayed by Richard Roundtree, is the wealthy father of Simone Deveaux, and one of the founding members of the Company. He owns the Deveaux Society, which opened with the goal to "fund causes that bettered the world", and the Deveaux Building, the rooftop of which is a frequently visited location in the series.[7] At the beginning of the series, he is under Peter Petrelli's care due to his failing health, and he has recently lapsed into a coma. Simone believes that Peter is "like a son" to him, and Charles believes that Peter's love and compassion can change the world, as opposed to his former partners' methods.[7] In "Nothing to Hide", Charles and Peter telepathically share a dream in which they fly. After he awakens, he tells Simone about the dream and dies soon after.
He appears in the episode "1961" as test subject at Coyote Sands Relocation Center where he meets Daniel Linderman, Bob Bishop and Angela Shaw; after the massacre, they swear to create the Company. Here it's revealed that he possessed the power of telepathy, though the writers have hinted that Arthur Petrelli later steals this ability.[8] The younger Charles was played by Edwin Hodge.
In the graphic novels "From the Files of Primatech: 1963", Charles and the young founders approach a folk musician named Chris Coolidge in New York City while in the search for other founders of the Company. They also meet a young, runaway Kaito Nakamura at the concert, where Chris uses his ability of enhanced synesthesia to lure people to hear his music, but the police enter the scene, so Chris causes an uprising with his ability that ultimately turns into a chaotic and violent scenario. The founders convince him to stop the riot but Chris is killed while attempting to calm the people. On the other hand, they notice Kaito somehow foresaw the outcome and invite him to join their Company.
In the graphic novels "From the Files of Primatech: 1978", after Mindy Sprague used her ability to stop a meltdown at Three Mile Island, PA, causing a heavy blizzard as well, Charles suggests he should track her down using his telepathy, although it is hinted by Arthur Petrelli that he is already sick by that time, so Arthur introduces Maury Parkman as replacement for Charles in that assignment.
In the graphic novel "From the Files of Primatech: 1991", Bob asked the help of Charles in how to deal with Elle; Charles advised him to act as a father and get to know his daughter and not treat her as a test subject, which Bob failed to understand. Charles then met his daughter Simone and her friend Barbara (Niki and Tracy's triplet) at the Primatech Headquarter.
Hana Gitelman (Hebrew: חנה גיטלמן) is introduced in a four-part arc of the Heroes graphic novels. She made small, on-screen appearances in the series (played by Stana Katic) during "Unexpected" and "Five Years Gone", but has primarily featured in supplemental material. Her surname is misspelled as "Gittelman" in some of the graphic novels.
Hana has the ability to act as a living electronic transmitter and receiver, capable of intercepting and interpreting virtually any form of electronic signal and transmitting coherent signals of any type through thought alone. E-mail, text messages, and phone calls are all simple for her to receive and reproduce if necessary. Her range is implied to be around thirty feet at the time of her first spy mission. Her powers were awakened by mental and physical tests combined with repeated use of unknown drugs, sponsored by Mr. Bennet.
In "Unexpected", Hana finds Ted Sprague in Nevada and explains that the marks on their necks are from insertion of tracking devices. She convinces him and Matt Parkman to seek revenge on the perpetrators (The Company). In "Five Years Gone", in an alternate reality in which New York City is destroyed by a nuclear explosion, Hana is working with Mr. Bennet, and is killed by Matt Parkman.[9]
Aside from her superhuman abilities, Hana's time as a soldier has rendered her capable of handling most types of firearms with ease and skilled in the art of hand-to-hand combat. She was also an Army Intelligence officer in the Mossad for some time, and is well-trained in espionage and tactical planning. Hana primarily travels using her personal motorcycle, as first seen in Wireless part 4.
Meredith Gordon, portrayed by Jessalyn Gilsig, is the biological mother of Claire Bennet and the older sister of Flint Gordon. She does her best to watch over him, leading their abusive father to tell Flint, "God gave you a big sister instead of a brain." Like her younger brother, Meredith has pyrokinetic abilities, which both enable her to create fire from her body and grant her immunity to the effects of it. The two were separated after she accidentally burned down her father's house with their father inside it, though after years of effort Meredith tracked down and reunited with him. She eventually began a relationship with Nathan Petrelli, and the two conceived a baby, Claire. Meredith was later attacked by Company Agents Noah Bennet and Claude Rains, and her powers created a large explosion that consumed the building. The Company was led to believe that Meredith perished, while Meredith herself believed Claire had died. Years later, Meredith was captured by Thompson while robbing a convenience store with Flint. Rather than be a prisoner for the rest of her life, she agreed to train to become an agent. However, after she learned that Flint was also captured and was to become an agent, she felt that the Company was just using the two of them, and broke Flint out. The siblings were separated after Thompson tracked them down, and she was recaptured. However, Thompson lets her go after learning that Claire was her daughter.
Claire manages to track her down after many years, though the two only meet briefly before separating. Meredith blackmails Claire's biological father, Nathan Petrelli, for $100,000 before leaving, and hides his identity from Claire. She later returns at the request of Noah to help protect Claire from the escaped Level Five villains. She helps Claire to admit that, contrary to her claims, she wants to be trained so that she can help people and actually wants to learn how to fight so that she can get revenge on Sylar. Meredith later confronts Eric Doyle, with whom she has past connections, believing Claire may have gone there. However, she is rescued by Claire and Sandra Bennet, and later accepts Noah's request to rejoin the Company as his partner. When Sylar later takes over Primatech and holds Meredith, Claire, Noah, and Angela hostage, he injects Meredith with high adrenaline, eliminating her control over her pyrokinetic abilities. She and Noah are then placed in a Level 5 cell, where her lack of control threatens to burn Noah alive. Claire manages to break them free and tries to save Meredith, but Noah pulls her away. They make their escape as Meredith loses total control, destroying the Primatech facility and is killed when the building collapses with her still inside.
Jimmy Jean-Louis
The Haitian has the ability to erase peoples' memories as well as suppress the abilities of others' around him within a certain radius/area of himself.
Paulette Hawkins, portrayed by Tina Lifford, is the mother of D.L. Hawkins, and Micah's grandmother. Her relationship to Niki is tense, questioning her ability to raise Micah. In "One Giant Leap", she defends D.L. in front of Niki. Paulette is convinced that D.L. was framed for killing his crew. She is not seen again until "The Kill Squad, Part 3" where it is revealed that she has the power to enhance other people´s abilities and had become a thorn in the Company's side and was locked in one of the five levels. She is brought out by the Kill Squad to augment the powers of Brenden Lewis so a crater created by a Guyanese local could be covered in forestry. She performs her duty under the impression that she will be taken to her grandson, Micah, afterward. Against the Company's orders, she is shot upon finishing.
Sanjog Iyer, portrayed by Javin Reid, is an Indian boy whom Chandra Suresh had been observing prior to leaving for New York. Chandra's notes described Iyer as having a genetic marker allowing the boy to enter people's dreams, where he acts as a "spirit guide" of sorts. He appears in visions that Mohinder Suresh experiences after returning to India with his father's ashes. After Mohinder finds Sanjog, he explains to Mohinder that he does not enter the dreams of others, but that they instead come to him. Sanjog subsequently appears in several Heroes graphic novels, showing visions of the past to various individuals. In an interview with Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite, they state that Sanjog's character was considered for the storyline involving Molly and her nightmare man, Maury Parkman. However, the idea was scrapped for reasons they did not reveal.[10]
In "Seven Minutes to Midnight", the name on the file's label included a comma as a typo. On the NBC website, Suresh's map spells the name Sanjop Iyer. The episode "Homecoming" confirms the boy's name is Sanjog Iyer.
Daniel Linderman, portrayed by Malcolm McDowell, has the ability to heal the injuries and illnesses of living organisms; this includes healing the "scars" created by mental manipulation, thereby allowing him to restore lost memories and remove implanted thoughts.[11] He served in the U.S. Army with Arthur Petrelli, whom he ended up healing from the brink of death, in the Vietnam War under the code name "Austin". After the war, Daniel found himself living a nomadic, solitary existence. Though he occasionally drowned his sorrows in alcohol, nothing eased the pain of his war memories. Then he met Linda Tavara, whom he thought he could trust his secret with, but he ended up killing her in self-defense; Linda's list led him to reunite with Arthur. He eventually became a reputed mobster, and founder of Linderman Corporation under the guidance of Adam Monroe. In person, he is persuasive, gentle, and unfailingly polite, though he has no qualms about extortion or assassination. During the first season, he manipulates various events in order to ensure that the Company controls the United States, including talking Nathan Petrelli into wanting to become president, manipulating the lives of D. L. Hawkins and Niki Sanders, kidnapping Micah Sanders to alter election polls, and planning on letting the explosion kill six million people. He is later killed by D.L. during a standoff.
During the third season, Linderman returns as an illusion created by Maury Parkman in the minds of Nathan Petrelli and Daphne Millbrook. He tells Nathan to become a politician again, and tells Daphne to recruit others for the Pinehearst Company. McDowell also plays the real Linderman in a flashback in "Villains".
In the episode "1961", a younger version of Daniel Linderman appears, played by Casey Kringlen, in a camp for people with abilities, being one of the few evolved humans that survived the massacre of May, 1961. Together with Angela Shaw, Charles Devaux and Bob Bishop swore to create the Company to keep the secret of evolved humans.
In the graphic novels From the Files of Primatech, Linderman is shown as an active founder of the Company, being involved in the major decisions. He is present at Chris Coolidge's concert and subsequent riot in New York, 1963, and at Claude Rains' room after he healed his injuries in 1988. He congratulates Eric Thompson's achievement and seems to agree with Angela to inject Claude with the radioisotope tracking device to test it.
Eden McCain, portrayed by Nora Zehetner, is a Company operative with the power of persuasion, to control others through verbal communication. Born "Sarah Ellis", her father left her to live with her stepmother at an early age, which caused her stepmother to blame her for her father's actions and to abuse her for it. She discovered her power after saying "I wish you'd just die!" to her, which caused her heart to instantly stop beating. She headed west, adopted her new name, and began living selfishly until being taken in by Noah Bennet and the Haitian, who persuaded her to work with them. On Noah's orders, she moved in near Chandra Suresh and befriended him in order to remove Claire Bennet's name from the list of posthumans. She also becomes close to Chandra's son, Mohinder, who continues his father's research after his death. Eden later assists the Haitian in capturing Sylar, and insists to Noah that Sylar be killed. When the Company refuses to allow this, she tries to take matters into her own hands by forcing Sylar to commit suicide. However, Sylar stops her before she can do so, and she takes her own life to prevent him from gaining her power.
Kaito Nakamura, portrayed by George Takei and Eijiro Ozaki (in a flashback), is a stern and powerful businessman in Japan and the father of Hiro Nakamura. He is the CEO of Yamagato Industries, and he is described as a man with "real power" by his underlings. He is initially very disappointed with Hiro, who does not show any sort of drive, though he eventually comes to respect his son as he develops into a hero. He is one of the founders of the Company. It is revealed in a deleted scene (in the season two DVD boxset) that he has the power of studying a situation and predicting its outcomes, though in the series he never uses this ability.[12] It is shown in "Our Father" that Kaito was the one who arranged for Claire's adoption into the Bennet family and also the one who arranged for the catalyst of the genetic modification formula to be implanted in Claire's body.
He dies after Adam Monroe pushes him off a roof, his death having been predicted by the deceased painter Isaac Mendez. Hiro later goes back in time in an attempt to revert his father's death, but Kaito is resigned to his fate, telling Hiro that they cannot use their abilities to play God. Convinced, Hiro lets the murder transpire, but uses the opportunity to find out the identity of the murderer.
In the graphic novels "From the Files of Primatech: 1963", Kaito attends the concert of Chris Coolidge at New York City while "escaping his destiny"; there he meets the young Company founders and invites Angela to dance. When Chris attempts to stop the riot he caused with his ability, the founders notice Kaito somehow foresaw the outcome and invite him to join their Company.

Claude Rains, portrayed by Christopher Eccleston, is a former employee of the Company. His real name is unknown, as he went by the aforementioned alias while working for the Company.[13] A posthuman, he has the ability to turn himself, any personal objects he touches, and other people invisible. Claude's power is limited to the visible spectrum; it does not make him inaudible, nor does it mask his body heat or other such emissions, allowing him to be tracked through thermal imaging or similar methods.[14] He leaves the Company after his partner, Noah Bennet, is ordered to kill him for hiding another powered human. He spends many years hiding before meeting Peter Petrelli, who can see Claude after absorbing his ability, and he attempts to help Peter control his power. However, Noah and the Haitian track him and Peter down, and almost capture them. Though Peter manages to get him to safety, Claude refuses to help him anymore and flees to London.
However, he is later tracked down by Elle Bishop, who needs help controlling her power. He helps her figure out her problem is based on her anger and resentment towards her late father, Bob. He and his friends, Abigail and Lee, are eventually attacked by DHS's agents in their home, but Rebel's team arrives to help them, saving Abigail but leaving Claude and Lee behind while the building collapses. They are later rescued by Abigail, Micah Sanders, and Molly Walker from a posthuman-prison train leaving Pittsburgh. He agrees to take Molly to safety while the "Rebellion" team goes to Washington, D.C. to save Monica.
In the graphic novels From the Files of Primatech: 1988, Claude and Thompson are assigned a mission in East Berlin, Germany during the Cold War, in which they must catch or terminate a KGB agent named Sylvia with the ability of mass manipulation; she convinces Claude that Thompson is hiding the real reason to chase her, and ultimately turn into a giant defeating both agents, leaving Claude near death. Once Claude wakes up, he is at the Company getting treated. Angela Petrelli reveals the real target of the mission, which Thompson achieved; he brought a tracking device (isotope pneumatic injection) from Germany which will allow them to track posthumans, starting with Claude.
"Claude Rains" is likely to be only an alias he adopted, referring to the actor Claude Reins, who played The Invisible Man in the 1933 feature film of the same name.
Theodore "Ted" Sprague, portrayed by Matthew John Armstrong, has the ability to generate and manipulate radiation, which he only discovers after being abducted by the Haitian. At first, he has very little control over his power and is extremely destructive, causing such harmful side-effects as radiation poisoning, which ends up killing his wife. When he gains better control over his ability, Ted realizes he is also able to produce an EMP when necessary. First arrested under the assumption that he is Sylar, he later escapes prison. He eventually comes to believe that the Company is responsible for giving him his power, so he seeks to get revenge. He teams up with Matt Parkman and Noah Bennet to take down the Company, and they go to New York. However, Sylar reports Ted's whereabouts to the FBI, and Ted is taken into custody. Sylar later tracks down the van transporting him and attacks it, slices Ted's skull open and acquires his ability.
Brian Davis, portrayed by David Berman, is an evolved human who has the ability to move things by the use of his mind. Sylar, who stole Davis's contact information from Chandra Suresh, called up Davis and pretended to be Suresh, telling him he can fix his problem. When he revealed his telekinetic ability to Sylar, Davis asked Sylar if he could remove it. Sylar, driven by his aggression and hunger for power killed and stole his ability, making him the first of several victims.
Zane Taylor, portrayed by Ethan Cohn, is the first person to respond to Mohinder's calls when Mohinder resumes his father's research. Zane leaves a phone message on Mohinder's answering machine, inviting him to Virginia Beach to talk; however, Sylar arrives first and impersonates Mohinder. After an anxious Zane displays his ability to liquefy objects, Sylar kills him. When Mohinder arrives later on, Sylar impersonates Zane and demonstrates Zane's power to liquefy the toaster instantly. According to the article reporting his death, Zane is a musician; he is even seen wearing a Ramones t-shirt, which Sylar then wears while impersonating him.

Molly WalkerDale Smither, portrayed by Rusty Schwimmer, is an auto mechanic with the ability of enhanced hearing. She constantly listens to rap music in order to drown out all the sounds which she is exposed to. In "Unexpected", she is contacted by Mohinder and Sylar (posing as Zane Taylor), and is subsequently murdered by Sylar.
Candice Wilmer, portrayed by Missy Peregrym, is an agent of the Company who has the ability to create illusions. She appears in the first two volumes, Genesis and Generations. She can manipulate her own body and a large area around herself, effectively trapping someone if she wishes, and change any detail instantly. Originally known as Betty, she is a very obese woman, so she constantly maintains the illusion that she is thin. She is originally paired with Noah Bennet and is seen using her powers to taunt multiple characters. After Noah's betrayal of the Company is revealed at Candice's hands, however, she is seen operating on her own. She aides Mr. Linderman in the kidnapping of Micah Sanders in ".07%", and watches after Micah in "Landslide." In "How to Stop an Exploding Man", Candice is confronted and knocked out by Niki Sanders who, with D.L., came to New York for Micah.
Because the persona of Candice became too well known, she takes on the form of 'Michelle,' portrayed by Rachel Kimsey, in the second season. On Company orders, she took the wounded Sylar to a remote area in South America and cares for him there until she is eventually killed by him.
Missy Peregrym formerly worked with executive producers Greg Beeman and Jeph Loeb on Smallville and was excited to be able to audition for the role because of it. However, she felt her first audition was "one of [her] worst performances" and was surprised to get another reading the following Monday, after which she felt she did "a little better."[15] While filming, Peregrym stayed around set while the other actors played the illusions Candice cast in the show. The visual effects necessitated her to follow the other actors' exact actions as they filmed: from the parts where the viewer would see the illusion, to the parts where the viewer would see Candice or vice versa.[16]
For Season 2, however, it became more difficult for Candice's character to be involved in the show. Peregrym was never contractually bound to Heroes for the second season,[16] and after being cast in the show Reaper as a series regular, scheduling interfered with her availability to shoot her remaining scenes as Candice. This resulted in the writers' original plan for Candice and Sylar to have a multi-episode story arc being scrapped and the character getting killed off in her next episode. The producers attempted to collaborate with the producers of Reaper on shooting dates for the final episode in which Peregrym would appear, but although she agreed to work on a weekend, schedule changes for Reaper made this impossible. Rachel Kimsey then came in and her performance made a strong enough impression on writers and producers that they attempted to keep Candice, but could not.[17]
Robert Bishop, portrayed by Stephen Tobolowsky, has the ability of alchemy, allowing him to change the atomic properties of objects into materials such as gold. This can also be used as an offensive weapon; in one instance he turns a man's arm into gold, not only rendering it useless but also causing great pain. Known as Bob to his colleagues, he is one of the twelve members of the group established by Adam Monroe thirty years prior to the events of Kirby Plaza. He directs much of the tracking and capture of targets of the Company and he is their financial source, using his ability to create unlimited amounts of gold and other "resources." Following the death of Linderman at the end of Volume One, he takes over as head of the Company. He is also Elle's father, and though she was trained to work for the Company from birth, he constantly criticizes her actions. Bob is killed by Sylar at the beginning of Volume Three. It is revealed in "1961" that he met Angela Petrelli, Daniel Linderman, and Charles Deveaux while a "prisoner" at Coyote Sands.
In the graphic novels "From the Files of Primatech", Bob is seen as a Company founder, being involved in the decision making along with the others.
In "From the Files of Primatech: 1991", after Elle caused a blackout in Athens, Ohio, her mother sent her to New York so Bob would deal with her. Bob asked the help of Charles Deveaux, taking a fatherly approach, but ended up taking Dr. Jonas Zimmerman's advice: treat Elle as any other posthuman and test her abilities. During one of these tests, Bob tried to calm the weeping Elle, turning her smoothie's straw into gold, but this backfired as it allowed Elle to accidentally shock her father. After this, Elle escaped and Bob enlisted Noah Bennet to go after Elle.
Alejandro Herrera, portrayed by Shalim Ortiz, is the twin brother of Maya Herrera. Alejandro has the ability to absorb and neutralize his sister's poison emission; to do so, he must make physical contact with Maya and calm her down. He is very protective of her even after the initial manifestation of Maya's power kills their friends and his new wife. When she runs away, he tracks her down and discovers his ability to stop the progression of the poison she emits. They flee the police through Mexico, trying to get to New York in the hope that Mohinder can cure her. Along the way they meet Sylar, who joins them. Maya trusts Sylar, but Alejandro does not, and when Alejandro reveals his intention to force Maya to leave with him, Sylar kills him.
Maury Parkman, portrayed by Alan Blumenfeld, is Matt Parkman's father, having abandoned Matt when he was thirteen. He is one of the twelve founders of the Company, and like his son, Maury is a telepath; however, his powers are much more developed than Matt's. Instead of just reading surface thoughts, he can read people's memories and manipulate their perceptions of reality, allowing him to trap people in nightmares based on their deepest fears and insecurities. He can either render a person unconscious and manipulate their dreams, or he can induce "waking nightmares" that allow the person's real body to move. He is also able to detect Molly Walker, who calls him "the Nightmare Man," attempting to locate him using her power, and he does not require close proximity to affect a person's mind. He is one of several people swayed into believing that those with abilities are superior to humans by Adam Monroe, whom he loyally served. Maury subsequently works for Arthur Petrelli after Adam's imprisonment, having pledged to do so to save his son's life. When this arrangement became inconvenient, Arthur snapped his neck, killing him.
In the graphic novel "From the Files of Primatech, Part 4: 1978", Arthur introduces Maury to the other Company founders as Charles Devaux's replacement on the assignment to track their own people, just like Mindy Sprague who has fled from their radar with his son.

Victoria Pratt, portrayed by Joanna Cassidy and Jaime Ray Newman, was a founding member of the Company and biological engineer. In 1977, she met Shanti Suresh and began to do research on the Shanti virus. On Company orders, she experimented on the virus, and weaponized it, creating Strain 138, which is capable of killing 93% of the world's population, including both humans and posthumans. When Monroe attempted to steal the strain, Pratt insisted that the program on the virus be stopped, and the strain destroyed. Kaito Nakamura and the other founders did not agree and locked the virus away at Primatech Paper in Odessa, Texas. Pratt was not happy about the decision.
In the present, Matt Parkman begins to investigate the remaining Company founders. After discovering that most of them are dead, he uses his abilities on Angela to persuade her to give him information on who Pratt is. Angela resists, stating that Pratt was in hiding and wanted to be left alone. Matt is however able to get her name. Pratt is discovered in the present, hiding in Maine, by Adam Monroe and Peter Petrelli. Fearing that she will be the next to die after hearing about the death of Kaito, she attempts to kill Monroe to no avail. After Peter uses his telepathy to find out where Strain 138 is hidden, Monroe and Petrelli attempt to release Pratt and set her free. However, after she attempts to shoot Peter in the head, Monroe kills her and leaves a death-threat photo on her body.
West Rosen, portrayed by Nicholas D'Agosto, has the ability to fly. He was abducted by Mr. Bennet and the Haitian for examination prior to the start of the series, though he tried to escape. He saw Mr. Bennet before being recaptured and having his memory wiped, though he still remembers Bennet's glasses. Years later, he and Claire become classmates at Costa Verde High School. West has a philosophy that people are either "Aliens" or "Robots;" "Robots" being those who act normal, question nothing, and never "look up," while "Aliens" are unafraid to be different. West notices that Claire makes a point of not being noticed, so he becomes intrigued to figure out where she stands. He uses his ability to spy on Claire through her window, and eventually sees her regrowing a toe. When Claire discovers this, he shows her that he can fly. They share a kiss at the beach and start going out. When West later finds out that Claire's father is the man who abducted him, he thinks that she has been working with Noah, though Noah later tells him the truth. Later, West helps in rescuing Claire from Bob Bishop. When Noah is killed in the altercation, Claire decides to go public with her powers and expects West to help her. When West refuses to, telling her that he likes having his secrets, Claire breaks up with him.
In the "Rebellion" graphic novels, West is recruited by Micah Sanders and Sparrow Redhouse into the anti-government force known as "Rebel." Together they save and recruit Abigail in London, and the team starts fighting DHS's agents and finding the captured posthumans.
As of the Heroes web novel continuity, in "The Scenic Route" West is seen again cajoling Bennet to help him aid Alex. Bennet agrees, the two rescue Alex and then Bennet advises Claire's two ex-boyfriends to stay in hiding.
After helping Sparrow to derail a posthuman-prison train, the "Rebellion" team follows the directions Molly gave to find Monica in Washington, D.C., but at the cost of losing Micah to Sylar.
In "Ice Queen, Part 1", Micah states that he has already reunited with Monica and the "Rebellion" team before the beginning of Redemption.
In "Let it Bleed", while Claire is talking with Peter, it is mentioned that West is currently a student at NYU and that he and Claire are Facebook friends. Peter asks Claire to call West to mimic his ability, which happens in some point before the episode's end, as Peter is then seen flying.
Bridget Bailey, portrayed by Tehmina Sunny, has the ability of psychometry, introduced by the BBC in its mirror of Heroes 360 information. Her exchanges with Mohinder Suresh were later included on NBC.com as part of Heroes Evolutions. Her first message, entitled "I need some advice", began on July 11, 2007.[18]
The Heroes Evolutions site, Assignment Tracker 2.0, was updated on August 5, 2008 to include a new interactive map which revealed Bridget to be a Company agent paired with Berk Donahue.[19] On the Evs Dropper blog, Bailey expressed regret that she was unable to aid in the war against Evs alongside her partner. In "Into the Wild, Part 3", Sean Fallon asks Gael Cruz about the "Bailey case", implying that he was assigned to aid her. Gael told him to forget it. Angela sends Bridget to meet Sylar in "One of Us, One of Them", where she is killed as soon as Angela leaves the room and her ability is absorbed.
Luke Campbell, portrayed by Dan Byrd, is a teenage boy with the ability to project microwave beams from his hands. The effects of his power vary from object to object. He is able to melt a figurine, boil liquid from a distance without damaging the mug, and burn a person to death from the inside out. After he and his mother are captured by Sylar, he finds himself sympathizing with the killer and ultimately abandons his old life to follow him and become his apprentice. He has information on the current whereabouts of Sylar's father, so Sylar reluctantly allows Luke to accompany him. When they stop in a diner, the Hunter's men arrive and take Luke while Sylar escapes, but he returns to get a laptop with information about their operations and in the process rescues Luke. After the rescue, Sylar takes Luke to the diner where he witnessed his mother's murder. Sylar then turns on Luke and forces him to leave and go back home.
Eric Doyle, portrayed by David H. Lawrence XVII, has the ability of "puppet mastery", which allows him to control the actions of others by manipulating them like a puppeteer. In the webseries "Nowhere Man" he displays control over inanimate objects by closing a door without touching it. He is initially captured by the Company after causing people to seemingly commit suicide with his ability. He later escapes during the confrontation between Elle and Sylar, and returns to running "Doyle's Marionette Theater". He has obsessive romantic feelings for Meredith Gordon, which are renewed after she goes to him fearing that Claire is going to attempt to capture him. Doyle is eventually recaptured after forcing Meredith, Claire and Sandra Bennet to play a variation of Russian roulette, not knowing about Claire's ability. In "Dual", he is freed by Noah Bennet along with two others and offered freedom for killing Sylar. He attempts to save Meredith, but Sylar breaks free of his control and incapacitates him.
In "Puppet With No Strings" Doyle is revealed to have survived the Primatech disaster, and being around by manipulating anyone in his way, although he realizes the evil he does while looking his victim's faces; that's when he gets a message from "Rebel" that he can be good. He decides to return to his theater, but there he is ambushed by Danko, Rachel Mills and other agents. After beating him, he is left to die while the theater burns down until Rachel teleports in and saves him by order of Rebel, and gives him her phone. After the agents are gone, Doyle receives the message from Rebel that Claire will save him.
At the end of "Exposed", he appears in the Bennet kitchen confronting Claire. He claims to want a normal, regular life and leaves Claire after she refuses to help him. He is soon chased by the two agents, undercover Rachel Mills and partner, that were also chasing Claire; Claire comes in (after an admonition from "Rebel") and helps Doyle escape. After Doyle is out of harm's way, Claire removes his old identity and gives him a new life. Claire asks him if he was telling the truth about changing his ways, and he smirks and walks away. However, he is later captured by Sylar and given to Danko as a "gift".
In "Exodus", he is rescued by a recent fugitive Rachel Mills and escapes with the help of Gordon Hovey who protects him from bullets.
Doyle is the main character of the Heroes webseries "Nowhere Man", which takes place sometime between the events of the TV series episodes "Shades of Gray" and "Cold Snap". With the new identity he received from Claire, Doyle attempts to adjust to regular life, including getting a job at Copy Kingdom where Noah Bennet worked in volume two, Generations. Mr. Bennet's former boss is seen tormenting Doyle, who has fallen for a beautiful co-worker, and Doyle finds it increasingly hard to resist using his puppeteering powers.
Doyle is seen in "The Fifth Stage" reuniting with Claire Bennet, telling her about how his new life did not work out well until Samuel took him into the Carnival, where he found he belonged. Doyle catches her going into Samuel's trailer and ambushes her, demanding answers, and accuses Claire of being a spy for Noah, but finally lets her go and tells her to talk to Lydia about Samuel.
In "Brave New World", Doyle is called in to control Emma when she refuses to draw thousands of people to the Carnival in Central Park. Doyle successfully forces Emma to draw the people and takes control of Sylar when he shows up to save Emma. He controls the two, but gets distracted with Sylar and accidentally releases Emma who stops playing and blasts him with her power allowing Sylar to defeat him. Doyle begs Sylar to stop as Sylar's like him, but Sylar responds with "no, I'm a hero." It's shown later that Sylar strung him up in lights rather than kill him.
The German, portrayed by Ken Lally, has the ability of magnetism manipulation, allowing him to control ferrous objects and materials. He is originally introduced in the graphic novel "Berlin, Part 1", where he is captured by the Company. He subsequently escapes Level 5 in "The Butterfly Effect" along with a dozen other prisoners, and joins a group of them in robbing a bank. In "One of Us, One of Them", he is killed by Knox after disagreeing with his plan.
He is seen in a picture at Dr. Zimmerman's home along with Barbara, Niki and Tracy's sister.
Flint Gordon Jr., portrayed by Blake Shields, is Meredith Gordon's younger brother, who also possesses the power of pyrokinesis. He produces extremely hot blue flames as opposed to Meredith's more conventional orange flames. He is slow-witted, causing him to be more of a lackey than a leader, especially when around Meredith. He and Meredith were separated as children after Meredith accidentally used her ability to burn down their abusive father's house. After being sent to different foster homes, Flint discovered his power, and Meredith later united with him until they were both captured by the Company. They were offered positions as agents, though Meredith forced them to flee to avoid being manipulated. Flint was recaptured and placed into Level 5. He ends up being released during the conflict between Sylar and Elle, and he later joins Arthur Petrelli. However, he later turns on Pinehearst Company, feeling that he will not be needed after the formula is distributed, and ends up destroying the building.
In "Rebellion, Part 1: Rebel Yell", which takes place during the "A Clear and Present Danger" events, a person accredited as "Gordon, F." is listed among those prisoners being transported in the HLS's Flight 195. In "Rebellion, Part 2: Providence In The Fall Of Sparrow", a posthuman with similar appearance of Flint was shot in the head by a sniper after attempting to help the agents hunt down others like him (Micah and Sparrow) in exchange for his life.
Samson Gray, portrayed by John Glover, is the biological father of Sylar (Gabriel Gray). Like his son, he possesses the ability of intuitive aptitude, allowing him to steal the abilities of other super-powered humans. He is responsible for the death of Gabriel's mother back in 1980. Appearing in "Shades of Gray', he is old and dying of terminal cancer, hiding from Nathan's agents in an old trailer in the woods of Newark, New Jersey. He apparently was a friend to Luke Campbell, going bird-watching with Luke despite his own jaded and pessimistic nature. Still practicing taxidermy in his old age, he realizes that he and his son have the same ability and tries to tell his son how to use his life for something worthwhile, not the repetitive and boring task of collecting abilities from "helpless" prey. He demonstrates several abilities while talking to Gabriel, namely telekinesis and induced sedation (expressed through whistling), restraining Gabriel when Samson realizes he can heal himself. Desperate to escape death, he attempts to steal Gabriel's ability of rapid cellular regeneration, but Gabriel fools his father, restraining him with his own oxygen tube and leaving him to die of his cancer, alone and helpless like his old victims.
Benjamin "Knox" Washington, portrayed by Jamie Hector, gains enhanced strength when others around him are frightened. He often uses the threat of becoming stronger to fuel the fears of others. His past was going to be featured in a dropped storyline in "Villains" where he attempts to get out of gang life with the help of Matt Parkman, returning to his old ways after his power manifests;[20] it was later released as the webseries Hard Knox. He is initially a Level 5 prisoner who escapes after the conflict between Sylar and Elle. He joins with the others to hunt down Noah Bennet, though he eventually ends up working for Arthur Petrelli. He later turns against Pinehearst Company, feeling that he will not be useful once the formula is distributed, but is frozen and shattered by Tracy Strauss as he is about to kill Nathan Petrelli.
James Martin possesses the ability to shapeshift into the form of anyone he touches. He is responsible for killing three of Danko's agents, who were hunting him. Using his ability, he makes his way into Danko's office to touch him in order to "borrow" his form. He escapes Danko and his forces by shifting into another man and fleeing. Eventually, he is tracked down to a nightclub by Danko and Sylar. He takes on Sylar's appearance but is shot by Danko. His ability is then acquired by Sylar and he dies while still in Sylar's form. Later, after Matt compels Sylar to believe that he is the now-deceased Nathan, his body (still in Sylar's form) is cremated in order to give the impression to the other Heroes that Sylar is dead. He is portrayed by Bill Hooper, Kevin Alejandro, Manuel Urrego, Željko Ivanek and Zachary Quinto.
Daphne Millbrook, portrayed by Brea Grant, is a thief with the power of enhanced speed. She can move herself at speeds fast enough to just barely outrun a nuclear explosion, move fast enough to be at normal speed when Hiro Nakumura slows down time to the point where time appears to have stopped, and can extend her ability to those she is in contact with. She suffers from cerebral palsy and relied on crutches and braces to walk before gaining her powers. She first becomes acquainted with Hiro Nakamura, who refers to her as "nemesis", after she steals his half of a chemical formula that gives ordinary people super powers. She works for the Pinehearst Company under the direction of Maury Parkman (who appears to her as Mr. Linderman), charged with recruiting members. One of the people she is to recruit is Matt Parkman, to whom she is married in "I Am Become Death". Parkman, having seen this future, tries to convince her to quit instead because her thievery will eventually get her killed. She sees that he is actually a good person and reveals to Parkman that although she is very conflicted about her work and the people she works for, she does not have a choice. In "It's Coming", she tells Matt she loves him and defects to Primatech, becoming one of the Heroes. She subsequently helps retrieve Isaac Mendez's sketchbook of prophetic drawings and obtain a sample of the formula that grants Ando an ability. She then couples her speed with Ando's power amplification to travel back in time, rescues the stranded Hiro, and then takes Hiro to Pinehearst to steal back the formula. In "Trust and Blood", she tries to save Hiro and Matt, but she is badly wounded when shot by government agents. She survives and is taken to a medical facility where she is tranquilized and medically treated. Upon being "saved" by Tracy Strauss, Matt takes Daphne to a hospital in which she is treated for sepsis. He projects an image of her having a storybook ending complete with a trip to Paris, but she eventually tells Matt to "let her go". Matt, having also made himself fly in her dream, then flies with Daphne to the moon while the trail in the sky becomes a steady line on a heart monitor. Matt and Mohinder are then shown standing next to Daphne's bedside, where she has died.
Jesse Murphy, portrayed by Francis Capra, is a former prisoner of Level 5 with the ability to produce powerful sonic waves with his voice. According to executive producer Greg Beeman, Jesse's power was originally "Earthquake-stomp", but was changed due to budget constraints.[21] He is described by Knox as having no friends. He and Knox were captured by Noah Bennet and the Haitian after the two used their powers in an attempt to take over a neighborhood.
Years later, an alternate, future version of Peter Petrelli puts the present-day Peter in Jesse's body to keep him safe. However, present-day Peter is forced to leave with the other Level 5 prisoners when Elle Bishop accidentally releases them. Peter accompanies a group of them on a bank robbery to make sure that no innocents are hurt. However, Knox figures out the truth and attacks, causing Peter to trigger Jesse's ability. Before Peter can stop the villains, though, the future Peter releases him and takes him to the future. Jesse, now free, attempts to kill Noah Bennet with Flint and Knox, but Sylar incapacitates them and takes Jesse's power, killing him. It was hinted in a previous episode that Jesse may have the power to 'destroy us all', as Noah is looking at his file along with Knox's, Flint's and 'The German's'.
Ishi Nakamura, portrayed by Tamlyn Tomita, was the wife of Kaito Nakamura and mother to Kimiko and Hiro. She was shown as deceased when Hiro was eight years old when he went back in time with his father in an attempt to convince him to escape his death. It was revealed that she had an ability in an interview with Aron Coleite and Joe Pokaski,[22] which is shown to be the ability to heal living organisms through kisses in "Our Father". She revives Hiro's sick bird and restores the future Hiro's lost memories.
She carried the Catalyst, also referred to as "the light". Prior to her death, she originally transferred it to baby Claire, but the future Hiro intervenes and convinces her to transfer it to him instead. Then she dies but not before telling Hiro that she is very proud of him.
In the episode "Pass/Fail", a mental version of Ishi appears to Hiro as reward for beating Adam in a sword-fight so he could die with honor. She kisses his forehead, healing him, and returning him to life (although he was actually saved by doctors).
Matthew "Matty" Parkman, Jr. is the infant son of Matt Parkman and his ex-wife Janice Parkman, and the grandson of Maury Parkman. He has the ability to activate and deactivate objects, whether they are electronic, mechanical, or even human, earning him the nickname "Toddler Touch-And-Go" from Hiro. He is first mentioned in the episode "Five Years Gone", his father working to capture other posthumans in exchange for the protection of him.[23] Matt Parkman, Jr. later appears in the main timeline, living in California with his mother. Matt Senior divorces his wife because they initially believe Matt Junior is the son of the man she cheated on him with, but it turns out they were wrong. According to Janice, he got his powers during the last eclipse which stripped away the others' powers, including his father's. He is able to turn on and operate a television that had been unplugged, operate several mechanical toys, and even partially restore Hiro Nakamura's time manipulation ability through his touch, though when he is very happy or sad, his ability activates remotely. When his mother is apprehended by government agents, he is rescued by Hiro and Ando. They take him to his father, who in turn returns him to Janice. He now lives with his remarried parents as a family. Eventually his reactivation of Hiro's powers brings back all of his powers, although it takes Hiro awhile to control time travel and teleportation again, at first only using both on instinct.
Arthur Petrelli, portrayed by Robert Forster, is the husband of Angela Petrelli, the father of Nathan Petrelli and Peter Petrelli, and the biological grandfather of Claire Bennet. Angela has stated that she and Arthur have gone through "great lengths" to protect Claire. He has the power to take the abilities of other posthumans through physical contact. Once he takes an ability, he cannot return it.[24] The known powers he has taken are telepathy from an unknown source, though hinted at being Charles Deveaux;[8] the regenerative abilities of Adam Monroe; Peter's empathic mimicry and the powers he absorbed as a result, including the Haitian's mental manipulation;[25] Maya Herrera's poison emission; and Hiro Nakamura's time manipulation. Arthur's range of powers is such that he can overcome the Haitian's dampening powers after a short period, though not without significant effort.
Arthur fought in the Vietnam War under the code name "Dallas" alongside Linderman. After the war, Petrelli and Linderman "were brought together" into a group of twelve by Adam Monroe, with a mission to help save the world. Linderman tells Nathan that Arthur became disillusioned and gave up trying to save the world, resulting in his alleged suicide. It is revealed in the third season that Angela actually poisoned Arthur because of his attempt on Nathan's life. He secretly survived, but was left paralyzed due to nerve damage from the poison.
He is the primary antagonist of the third volume, "Villains," where he is first revealed to be alive. He is in charge of the Pinehearst Company, recruiting various posthumans to assemble a new group of villains, as well as arranging for Adam Monroe to be brought to him in order to absorb his powers, healing Arthur's paralysis and killing Adam. He is shown to be ruthless in this endeavor, killing any who oppose him. For example, he snaps Maury Parkman's neck without hesitation when he protests the order to kill Matt. Arthur is killed during a confrontation with Sylar, Peter, and the Haitian in "Our Father." As the Haitian suppresses Arthur's powers, Peter tries to shoot Arthur in the head, but Sylar stops the bullet. After Sylar uses his ability of lie detection to discover that Arthur is not really his father, Sylar drives the bullet into Arthur's head, killing him.[26]
In the graphic novel "From the Files of Primatech, Part 4: 1978", Arthur has already joined the Company founders. After Mindy Sprague used her ability to stop a meltdown at Three Mile Island, PA, causing a heavy blizzard as well, Charles Deveaux suggests he should track her down using his telepathy, although is hinted by Arthur that he is already sick by that time, so Arthur introduces Maury Parkman as replacement for Charles in that assignment.
Daniel Pine, portrayed by Franc Ross, is a Vietnam veteran with the ability to transform parts of his body into metal. He is introduced in "Villains", being captured by Agent Thompson and Meredith Gordon as the latter's first assignment in the Company. He is placed in Level 5, but escapes when Elle Bishop accidentally sets all the Level 5 prisoners free. From there, he returns to his old home, and ends up killing his ex-wife. He is then recaptured by Meredith and Noah Bennet.
When Sylar later puts the Company facility into lockdown, Noah releases Pine and the other recaptured prisoners, offering them freedom if they can kill Sylar. Pine is subsequently killed by Sylar, his twitching, severed arm found in a corridor by Meredith.
Baron Samedi, portrayed by Demetrius Grosse, is a powerful warlord in the jungles of Haiti, and is the half-brother of the Haitian.[25] He possesses impenetrable skin, which grants him a degree of invulnerability from trauma such as fire, knives, and bullets. He shares a name with a loa. After escaping Level 5, he returns to Haiti and retakes control, though the Haitian follows after him. When Nathan and Peter Petrelli fly to Haiti to find the Haitian, Baron Samedi is warned of their presence by Arthur Petrelli, and he manages to capture Nathan. Due to the effects of the eclipse, Baron Samedi temporarily loses his powers, and is knocked unconscious by Peter and the Haitian as he is about to rape a girl. He later confronts them after regaining his ability, but is mind-wiped by the Haitian.
Scott, portrayed by Chad Faust, is a Marine recruited by the Pinehearst Company. Wanting to be more than human so that he can make up for his fellow Marines that died, he is the first person to try the newly perfected formula, which grants him the ability of enhanced strength. However, as he is about to stop Flint Gordon and Peter Petrelli from destroying the lab and the formula in "Dual", his neck is snapped by Knox.
Alice Shaw, played by Laura Marano in flashbacks and by Diana Scarwid in the present, is the estranged younger sister of Angela Petrelli, the aunt of Nathan Petrelli and Peter Petrelli, and the great-aunt of Claire Bennet. She has the ability of weather manipulation. Her powers are seemingly linked to her emotions as she is able to summon gale force winds when frightened, or generate lightning bolts or hailstones when angered. She first appears in the flashback in episode "1961". She along with Angela (whom she nicknamed Banana) were sent to the Coyote Sands Reservation by their parents. It was there that after months of observation, she was eventually abandoned by Angela and the future members of the Company. She appears in the present having survived the massacre at Coyote Sands, opting to stay on the reservation to protect humanity from herself. However, once Angela reveals the truth, she retaliates by controlling the lightning and shooting it at Angela, Mohinder, and Peter. Angela tries to calm her down but she runs away.
Usutu, portrayed by Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, makes himself known to Matt after he is teleported to Africa by the future Peter Petrelli. He had painted an image of the earth exploding on a nearby rock. This image appears several times in the episodes "The Second Coming" and "The Butterfly Effect", painted on various objects in various places. He also seems to have an extensive knowledge of Matt's life, having painted the major events of Matt's story arc in Volume One when he was just a child. Like the precognition demonstrated by Isaac Mendez, which is also why Hiro refers to him as Mr. African Isaac, this skill can be activated at will, though Usutu prefers to listen to music while he works. In a discussion with Parkman, Usutu reveals that he is aware of various changes in the timeline, specifically events that change his earlier predictions. As Hiro finishes his own spirit journey, Usutu is decapitated by Arthur Petrelli, but appears in Suresh's Loft with Ando, Hiro, Matt, and Daphne in "Dual".
After his death, Matt Parkman experiences as of yet unexplained visions of Usutu in "It's Coming" and "Dual", although they do not speak to him, and he is unaware that Usutu is dead.
In addition to his powers, Usutu is able to make a traditional food paste from tree roots and hyena dung which temporarily allows others to engage in a "spirit walk." In practice, this spirit walk roughly translates into a series of precognitive visions of future events or postcognitive visions of significant past events that are personally relevant to whoever consumes the paste. It is unknown whether or not this works on everyone. What is clear is that this paste has worked on two other characters with powers, though their powers did not involve precognition. Usutu freely shares the paste with Matt Parkman and Hiro Nakamura, despite being a family tradition, and the two lapse into trances shortly thereafter.
He later appears to Matt, telling him that he is becoming a prophet like himself. Matt then could draw the future in the same manner as Usutu and Isaac Mendez when their eyes go blank.
Alex Woolsley, portrayed by Justin Baldoni, is an employee at Sam's Comic Book Shop with the ability to breathe underwater. He first discovered his ability while on his high school's swim team. He is rescued by Claire Bennet on orders of the mysterious Rebel, and secretly took up residence within the Bennet household. Eventually Claire's mother finds out about his hiding in their house and she helps him change his identity to protect him. During his stay at the Bennet household, Claire and him develop a mutual romantic interest, culminating in a kiss while they hide from government agents underwater in a pool (thus also allowing Alex to transfer air to her thanks to his ability, removing the need for them to surface to breathe). In the graphic novel "The Scenic Route", he is rescued again, this time by Noah Bennet and Claire's ex-boyfriend West Rosen, and both boys are advised to lie low.
Arnold, portrayed by Jack Wallace, has the ability of space-time manipulation. Introduced in "Orientation", he is shown as a member of the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", and as any member, is considered family. He is asked by Samuel Sullivan to send him 14 years back in time so he can meet the adult Hiro Nakamura, which he is capable of doing despite his bad health. He is shown as an old and dying man, and it is implied that Samuel intends to replace him with Hiro. In "Once Upon a Time in Texas", Arnold once again sends Samuel back in time to find Hiro; after Hiro saves Charlie from Sylar and her aneurysm, Samuel orders Arnold to take her to the carnival in present and then to hide her somewhere in time away from Hiro so he will stay with them. This final effort killed Arnold. In the graphic Novel "Smoke and Mirrors", an altar is seen in honor of Arnold as the carnies discuss about Samuel forcing Arnold to use his ability without any concern about his health.
In the graphic Novels "Bloodlines", nearly a year prior to Joseph's death, we see a much younger version of Arnold as part of the carnival, being the closest person to Joseph, to whom he refers as "brother". Understanding the danger Samuel represents, Joseph sends young-Arnold to Coyote Sands Relocation Center back in 1961, but he arrives earlier when the center is being built and is taken down by Adam Monroe, which causes Arnold to suffer amnesia. Going by the name Ernie Crum (first seen in the episode "1961" as the diner's chef); he lived a new life, getting a family and a history of his own. At the year-prior-present, Joseph worries about the absence of Arnold and asks Samuel and Lydia to find him, but Lydia's tattoo shows her the old-Arnold, in his terminal condition wearing a nasal prong. Once there, Joseph helps him remember his former life, understanding his brain tumor made his condition even worse. Arnold asks Joseph to find his son Mel, but Lydia finds out he is already dead, killed by a man named Emile Danko. During the events in the present of "Once Upon a Time in Texas", Arnold states no one deserves the fate Samuel chose for Charlie, and Arnold now remembers his mission back in 1961: he was out to kill baby Samuel by orders of Joseph. He then is suffocated to death by Samuel. It's later revealed in "Brave New World" that Arnold took Charlie to Milwaukee on January 26, 1944.
The Bowman Family consists of Chris Bowman, portrayed by Daryl Crittenden, with his wife Gail and daughter Jenny, who are workers at the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival" as part of the fire-breathing family. The three of them exhibit the ability to breathe fire; Chris and Gail exhibit orange flames, but little Jenny exhibits blue ones (in main series she exhibits orange flames as well). Although seen in background as member of the "family" since "Orientation", they are shown mainly in iStories (Faction Zero and Slow Burn). In "Strange Attractors" (Slow Burn iStory chapter 5) they are told by Samuel Sullivan to show their ability to Tracy so she will feel comfortable at the carnival, but she felt the other way around so they stop. In the graphic novel "Smoke and Mirrors", Amanda watches as the Bowman family practices their fire-breathing act making her want to be a Bowman herself. Chris comes to Gail and discuss about Samuel blackmailing them to stay, although Gail thinks there's nowhere else safe for them. Jennie then "weeps" blue flames. In the webisode Slow Burn Part 10, the Bowmans are seen performing in front of a crowd, featuring Amanda, who recently joined their fire act.
Emma Coolidge, portrayed by Deanne Bray, is a deaf woman working in the same hospital as Peter. Dialogue indicates that she is trained as a physician, but prefers to work archiving patients' data instead of treating them. In the episode "Ink", she discovers that she can perceive sound as a form of colored light; the louder the sound, the more intense and colorful the light. Her doctor (also her mother) suggests that this is a form of synesthesia (mixed signals from the different senses). At the park, she sees the music a cello player produces, and then starts playing it herself, producing beautiful music. She constantly uses headphones in public to avoid being asked anything, so people will not notice that she is deaf. In the episode "Hysterical Blindness", Emma discovers that she is able to convert sound into physical force after damaging her apartment walls while playing a cello once more; the cello was in a box with the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival" label on it. In "Tabula Rasa", she is afraid of her power and seeks Peter to help her stop it, but ultimately Hiro helps her understand that her ability is a gift, and once she knows what she can do, she can use it to do good things. As Peter and Emma learn that Hiro is dying, Emma makes him promise he will stay in bed, although he constantly tells Emma he feels alive when he uses his ability and he will die with dignity like Charlie intended to do. In "Shadowboxing", Emma is lured to the ER and starts helping victims of a train wreck. After seeing Peter getting weaker every time he uses his healing power, she suggests him to stop using it, but he refuses to. Later she finds Megan, a girl who collapsed due to a pneumothorax, and practices an emergency thoracentesis saving her. Later while playing the piano, Peter retrieves a tiara from Megan for Emma, who considers her as special to her. Although she cannot forgive herself for Christopher's death, Peter assures she could save others as she did with Megan. Later, Emma takes out her medical coat from storage. In "Upon This Rock" Emma failed to get back to med-school and returns to her apartment, where she gets visited by Samuel Sullivan. He explains to Emma that he needs her to find someone for him. Once at Central Park, Samuel explains how her true ability works: Emma must use her feelings to create the music and lure the one he is seeking: Ian Michaels. After treating Ian at the hospital, Samuel offers Emma a place within the carnival, as they need "a doctor and a siren", and he gives a compass to her. In "Close to You", Emma uses this new application of her siren song ability to summon Peter to her apartment and explains about Samuel. After comparing the compass on her cello to his compass tattoo, Peter takes her to his apartment and she identifies Samuel from a newspaper article Peter has. Emma then meets Angela when she shows up and leaves due to Angela's attitude. Angela reveals that she had a dream where Emma is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people and that Peter cannot save her but someone else can. Peter copies her power and has a prophetic dream that night where Emma is crying and playing the cello in the Carnival's House of Mirrors with people screaming outside before Sylar shows up and offers her his help. As a result of this dream, Peter goes to Emma's apartment and smashes her cello. She responds by ordering him to leave and ending their friendship. In "The Art of Deception", Peter has a more explicit dream, in which he sees Eric Doyle manipulating Emma to play the cello, even with her fingers bleeding; he tries to find Emma, but she is unreachable. That night, Emma arrives to the carnival after the gunshots, and witnesses the damage all around her. She gets to Samuel and immediately attends his wound. Samuel states she will help him create a new world. In "The Wall", Emma finds Lauren injured at the carnival's medical tent and helps her; Lauren tries to explain Emma who Samuel really is, but Emma ends up giving Lauren up once Samuel enters the tent. Emma leaves them to talk. In "Brave New World, Emma is asked by Samuel to draw thousands of people to Central Park for a show and upon seeing a new cello, realizes that this is what Peter dreamed about and confronts Samuel who's reaction confirms it for her. Emma refuses to play, but is forced to by Eric Doyle. Emma's playing draws thousands of people to the Carnival and her fingers end up turning bloody. Sylar shows up to help, but he too is controlled by Doyle. During his confrontation with Sylar, Doyle accidentally releases Emma and she uses the opportunity to blast him with her powers while he's distracted, allowing Sylar to defeat him and tie him up like a puppet. After its all over, Emma reunites with Peter and hugs him before telling him Doyle controlled her and Sylar saved her.
- As hinted by Emma's mother, Dr. Coolidge, the death of her nephew Christopher caused Emma to put her biomedicine degree aside and prefer to file patient data at the hospital instead. This event causes enough pain that it triggers Emma's ability to evolve into a sound blast. She even feels displeased when someone mentions for her to leave the file room (Hysterical Blindness). Emma confirms this to Peter while playing the hospital piano; Emma blames herself of his death because she was babysitting him that day but couldn't hear Christopher asking for help while drowning in the pool. Ultimately she overcomes her guilt after saving Megan's life (Shadowboxing).
- In "Upon This Rock", Samuel reveals to Emma that the cello he sent her was supposed to go to his love Vanessa.
- In the graphic novels "From the Files of Primatech: 1963", a man named Chris Coolidge is introduced as a folk musician at New York City who uses his ability of enhanced synesthesia to lure people to hear his music; once the police enter the scene, Chris causes an uprising with his ability that ultimately turns into a chaotic and violent scenario. The young Company founders convince him to stop the riot but Chris is killed while attempting to calm the people. Is hinted that Chris is Emma's uncle as he states his sister just entered nursing school, although Emma's mother is actually a doctor. Also, Emma's nephew, who drowned, was named Christopher (which can be treated as Chris).
Damien, portrayed by Harry Perry, is a carnival worker at "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", introduced in "Tabula Rasa", with the ability to restore, heal and distort other people memories. By orders of Samuel, he takes Sylar to the center chamber of the Hall of Mirrors and touches his head using his ability on him. Then, he leaves Sylar alone while he sees his real memories reflecting in every mirror. In "Thanksgiving", he is present during Thanksgiving dinner; after Edgar's escape, he surprises Hiro while talking to Samuel, disrupting his memories, but apparently in a way he did not expect (which is also seen in the graphic novel "The Trip, Part 1"). In "The Art of Deception", he helps Samuel to walk over the dying Lydia. Later, he is seen guarding Noah Bennet in the Hall of Mirrors. In "The Wall", Damien shows Claire the past of Noah reflecting in the mirrors, so she would know the kind of man he really is. Here, Damien is said to be able to reveal the memories of people, and this time he did not need to touch Noah to use his ability on him. In Brave New World he abandons Samuel along with the other carnies and is teleported away by Hiro.
Edgar, portrayed by Ray Park, has the ability of enhanced speed and works at the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival". Introduced in "Orientation", he is sent by Samuel Sullivan to kill Emile Danko in order to retrieve a mysterious compass. At first he refuses, stating that he does not kill unless absolutely necessary. Samuel chokes him (with a tattoo hand controlled by his power), but releases him with a promise to not force Edgar again after he does this task. Edgar fails once, as Danko does not have the artifact with him and Tracy manages to freeze his knife and arm; he fails again when Peter Petrelli mimics his ability. He goes after Noah Bennet and finally takes the compass to Samuel, leaving Noah badly wounded.
He is shown to have feelings for Lydia, doing favors for her without informing Samuel. He works at the carnival as a knife thrower, his weapons of choice being Kukri knives. He has stated to Samuel that he does not kill unless absolutely necessary, proving this by injuring but not killing Noah Bennet and the worker that gives Danko's lock box to Noah and Peter. He constantly mistrusts Samuel's decisions to fill the void Joseph left when he died, like bringing new members to the "family".
In "Running In Circles" it is revealed that his family died in a fire when he was a child, and he discovered his ability as he escaped running from it. He later found the carnival and a new family, which he believes is not the same these days. He secretly brings a package to Lydia, which turns out to be a cell phone she later uses to contact her daughter Amanda in Slow Burn webisodes. After learning of Lydia's daughter, he hides her secret and even takes responsibility when Samuel learns about the hidden money, which actually belongs to Lydia, and is willing to accept the consequences. He follows Lydia's wishes and tries to make Amanda stay away from Samuel and Caleb, unsuccessfully. Together with Lydia, he worries about Amanda's fate among the carnival and near Samuel.
In "Tabula Rasa", Samuel orders him to retrieve Captain Lubbock, who was in the search of Sylar; Edgar realizes Samuel wants to make Sylar kill the cop so he will be back to normal. Once Sylar is among the carnies, Lydia constantly flirts with him by orders of Samuel, which enrages Edgar. During morning chores, Edgar displays his ability with knives to impress Lydia and stand out from Sylar, but Sylar shows off in turn by using telekinesis to redirect the knives. Edgar gets angry after this and Sylar throws him into a wheelbarrow filled with concrete to stop him. When Sylar cannot kill Captain Lubbock, Edgar rushes into the Hall of Mirrors and kills the cop with his super speed knife-attack, and tells Sylar he knew he could not make it. After Sylar's baptism, he watches as Lydia and Sylar celebrate with the whole family and then walk together to trailer area.
In "Thanksgiving", Lydia and Edgar hear Hiro complaining about Samuel and learn he already fixed what Samuel wanted, leaving them wondering why Joseph is not alive. After Lydia and Hiro return from eight weeks ago in time, Lydia informs Edgar how Joseph died by the hands of Samuel. During the carnival's Thanksgiving feast, Lydia informs Edgar what happened, so he confronts Samuel in front of the "family", but Hiro denies it for Charlie's sake. Once Edgar and Samuel are out to fight each other, Hiro freezes time saving Edgar from a rock to the back of his head. Hiro advises him that sometimes a hero needs to run away to live another day and attack back, so Edgar left the carnival. In the webisode Slow Burn Part 10, Lydia receives a voicemail from Edgar, who promises her he will return for her and Amanda.
In "Let It Bleed" Edgar tries to surprise Noah at his apartment, but Noah was expecting him and shocks him down. With Lauren's help, Noah tries to obtain information from Edgar by torturing him, until Lauren realizes Noah is letting his rage with Samuel go instead of being focused on the interrogation. Later, Edgar describes the carnival's settings as he states Noah can help him get rid of Samuel, but then he understands Noah and Lauren's actions will only destroy the family Joseph once created, so he sets himself free and flees with the map.
In "The Art of Deception", after Lydia died, Edgar rushes in Samuel´s trailer to find her corpse. He blames Noah Bennet and rejoins Samuel's side.
In "Brave New World", Edgar is still suspicious of Samuel's plans, especially as they move closer to fruition, and Samuel's "excitement" only confirms Edgar's suspicion. Edgar captures Noah at knife-point when he is trying to sneak into the carnival. After Noah explains he did not hurt his family, Edgar releases Noah and explains they have a common goal. He then helps Noah expose Samuel's crimes, including his murder of Joseph. He is last seen being teleported away from the carnival to somewhere safe with Hiro, along with the rest of the carnies.
Eli, portrayed by Todd Stashwick, is a thief and diamond-mine owner who is found by Tracy Strauss (following orders from Samuel Sullivan) in a cruise in the southwestern coast of Africa in the graphic novel "Prodigals, Part 1: Immersed". Tracy interrupts his way into a girl and accidentally reveals the money he has stolen from a tourist, and then Eli takes out a gun. When Tracy recognizes Eli, he gets angry and distrustful to hear she knows his real name, and creates many clones to surround Tracy. Unknowing what she meant about the carnival, "they" shoot Tracy, also unaware that her abilities will allow her to survive and fight back. The original Eli is already in a boat escaping, and Tracy knows she must follow him to the open sea. In "Prodigals, Part 2: Witch Hunt", Tracy is tracking down the root Eli at Cape Town and in the process ends up killing many of his clones. After understanding how Eli and clones move around, Eli surprises her at his diamond mine where his clones work. Instead of killing her when having a chance, he decides to receive her and show her the place. In "Prodigals, Part 3: Parched", Tracy is seen fighting against a horde of clones while the root Eli stands quietly. After learning Samuel is the actual leader of the carnival, he agrees to return, as it was Joseph who exiled him but always was loyal to Samuel.
His first appearance in the main series is in the episode "The Fifth Stage", as he returns to the carnival and appears in front of Samuel and Lydia. Samuel asks him to go to Noah Bennet's place and retrieve the Primatech files to him, which he agrees and sends clones to do it. The clones surprise Noah and Lauren at the apartment, where they quickly surround the former agents. Finally, the clones take the files and disappear from the place.
In the graphic Novel "Bloodlines", nearly a year prior to Joseph's death, Joseph sends Eli away from the carnival after Eli and Samuel steal from local farms.
In The Wall and Brave New World, Eli and his clones go after Matt, Peter and Sylar to stop them from disrupting Samuel's plans. While the real Eli and several clones attack Peter and Sylar, a bunch of other clones attack and nearly kill Matt who is unable to use his powers to stop them as only the real Eli has a mind that can be read or manipulated. At the last second, the clones disappear as Peter and Sylar apparently easily defeat the real Eli and his clones and knock him out, getting rid of the clones. Peter, in order to learn Samuel's plans, reads Eli's mind with his copy of Matt's telepathy and heads off to Central Park with Sylar to stop him. Matt then apparently brainwashes Eli against Samuel and he returns to the Carnival where he backs up Claire, Noah and Edgar's story and admits to murdering Lydia. Under Matt's brainwashing, he denounces Samuel and says he must be stopped and permanently leaves the Carnival family. His switching sides convinces the carnies to leave and he is presumably teleported away by Hiro.
Ian Michaels, portrayed by Adam Lazarre-White, is a homeless man introduced in "Upon This Rock" who has the ability to control, manipulate, and accelerate plant growth. Originally, he was terrified by his ability and opted to hide in seclusion in Central Park. He was soon found by Samuel Sullivan and Emma Coolidge and shown the benefits of having an ability. He is now part of the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival".
Jeremy Greer, portrayed by Mark L. Young, is an evolved human introduced in "Tabula Rasa", a teenager with the ability to control the life force of living creatures, so he can either heal them or kill them. Years ago, he was a "bag and tag" assignment of Noah Bennet and the Haitian, who later wiped his memory. In the present days, Noah finds his location after Peter asks him to find a healer to save Hiro's life. Peter teleports Noah to Cainan, Georgia to find Jeremy, but they notice several dead things at his house, including both of Jeremy's parents; he then shows up shooting the intruders. After Noah talks to him to understand the scenario, Jeremy confesses his ability changed from heal to kill because he got angry at his parents. Jeremy ends up shooting Peter when he intended to surprise him, so Noah forces Jeremy to heal Peter and conquers his fear to kill another person. Peter later mimics his ability and then leaves for New York while Noah stays with Jeremy. Noah feels he has let Jeremy down in the past because at that time he'd lost his will to help evolved humans. He tries to redeem himself by covering up the deaths of Jeremy's parents but Jeremy is locked up by a bitter sheriff regardless of Noah's efforts (Strange Attractors). With the help of Tracy Strauss, Noah manages to free Jeremy, but he is greeted by an angry mob outside of the police station. Jeremy, frightened, kills a man who attacks him and is sent back into his cell. He is later chained to a pickup and dragged to death by a hateful policeman, but not before finally showing restraint over his powers.
Lydia, portrayed by Dawn Olivieri, introduced in "Orientation" as a member of the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", where she is known as the "Painted Lady" for having several tattoos over her body. She demonstrates the complex ability to connect with people and knowing their description and whereabouts, achieved mainly when Samuel Sullivan draws their faces in her skin with ink, probably a type of clairvoyance. She is able to find Emile Danko's current location, and even find that Hiro Nakamura had visited the carnival fourteen years prior, and then she is told by Samuel to locate other characters (Claire, Sylar and Peter) so he can find a new member of the "family", who turns out to be Sylar (Hysterical Blindness). When she shakes hands with Sylar, it triggers Nathan's memories of shaking hands as a politician. In the graphic novel "Stolen Fate", she said to have the ability to show people's desires and hopes. In the graphic novel "The Painted Lady", her ability is shown as backfiring by making her susceptible to anyone else's desires, such as running away like her boyfriend wanted her to, and Carol's desire for Amanda to be hers, which led Lydia to abandon her baby with Carol. Lydia serves as the main antagonist, but not villain, of the Webseries: Slow Burns.
In "Tabula Rasa", once Sylar is among the carnies, Lydia constantly flirts with him by orders of Samuel so he will be comfortable enough to stay, which enrages Edgar. After Sylar's baptism, he and Lydia celebrate with the whole family and then both walk to trailer area. In "Once Upon a Time in Texas", she talks to Samuel about Arnold's terminal condition and the fact that Hiro is too far from them; Lydia shows Samuel the image of Charlie in her back as the reason why Hiro is away, and then shows images of Sylar, Noah and fellow company agent Lauren Gilmore; this directs Samuel to travel back in time three years ago to find Hiro. In "Shadowboxing", Lydia and Samuel are talking about the problem Becky has become in her assignment to recruit Claire; Samuel assures her he will take care of it. Once Samuel and Becky are back to the carnival, Lydia informs him Sylar is gone.
In "Thanksgiving", Lydia and Edgar hear Hiro complaining about Samuel and learn he already fixed what Samuel wanted, leaving them wondering why Joseph is not alive. Lydia tries to convince Hiro to confess what he did, but he refuses for Charlie's sake; Lydia approaches him to sense his desires: Charlie, and connecting with Hiro she activated his time traveling, teleporting both of them to the night Joseph died, eight weeks ago. Lydia and Hiro witness how an enraged Samuel killed his brother while craving for power. Hiro, with her help, manages to take them back to the present before past-Samuel finds them. Once back at the carnival's Thanksgiving feast, Lydia informs Edgar what happened, so he confronts Samuel in front of the "family", but Hiro denies it for Charlie's sake. Samuel nearly kills Edgar, but Hiro manages to save him and help him escape. Lydia decides not to reveal Samuel's secret as she has a daughter to worry about. In "The Fifth Stage", Lydia confronts Samuel, telling him she knows everything, but she will be quiet because she needs to look after Amanda, and leaves as soon as Eli shows up. Later that night, Claire and Gretchen enter her tent, and Claire touches her, so Lydia shows her deep desire, to be known as the "Indestructible Girl", to fit there. Lydia is seen again as Samuel talks to the carnies at Joseph's grave, about how they should settle at that point instead of wandering around.
In the graphic Novel "Bloodlines", nearly a year prior to Joseph's death, Lydia is among the carnies during the Christmas dinner. Joseph worries about the absence of Arnold and asks Samuel and Lydia to find him, but Lydia's tattoo shows her the old-Arnold somewhere at the year-prior-present, in his terminal condition wearing a nasal prong.
Although she seems to be the confidant of Samuel and the one who comforts him, she shares Edgar's opinion that Samuel's decisions would not be approved by Joseph if he was alive. Also, she hides from him the fact that she has a daughter, Amanda, or at least that she has contacted her because she sensed danger nearby Amanda as her ink images moved in her skin, which was the first image to ever move (Slow Burn webisodes). This has led her to constantly ask for Edgar's assistance without Samuel's knowledge, mainly to contact and help Amanda, and also to hide money from the "family" so she can send it to Amanda. According to Lydia, the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival" is a too dangerous place for Amanda, so she prefers her to stay as far away as she can. When Samuel learns about Amanda, he confronts Lydia and finds her image in Lydia's right arm. Lydia ends up lying to him by telling him that Amanda has no power and that she does not care about her daughter. When Samuel leaves Lydia's trailer, Amanda appears in front of her. After arguing about Amanda's presence there, she leaves Lydia alone in her trailer. Lydia's efforts to hide Amanda turn out unsuccessful, as Amanda meets Samuel and shows her ability to him. Despite Amanda's joy at the carnival, Lydia explains her reasons to leave and her reason to mistrust Samuel, as she feels his desire for power. Lydia confesses her story as she compares herself with Amanda.
In "Upon This Rock", Lydia tries to explain Claire why Eli is constantly watching her, and then leads Claire into finding Primatech stolen files at Samuel's trailer. Later, Claire finds Lydia and Amanda arguing about many carny boys trying to date her, which Lydia forbids. After Amanda left, Lydia confesses to Claire that Joseph was their true leader hinting to Claire that his death was Samuel's fault. In "Let It Bleed", Samuel orders Lydia to convince the restored Sylar into joining them, although she tries to refuses at first. As Sylar regenerates from death, Lydia gets it on with Sylar so her empathy could reach him unknowing Sylar empathically mimicked her ability as well; Lydia senses Sylar´s thirst for power but his recent incapability to kill, which makes him toss her aside and leave. Later, Lydia watches as Samuel and Sylar talk; Sylar confesses that Lydia is keeping secrets from Samuel. In "Close to You", Lydia mentions to Amanda that she indeed believes that while the Carnival is a good place for specials, she does not believe Samuel should be the leader anymore and believes Peter would be perfect due to a comment by Samuel about him possibly being "the next Joseph" who was a good leader of the Carnival. Lydia ends up using her empathic powers to reach out to a sleeping Peter and cause the compass tattoo to return to his arm. In "Pass/Fail", Lydia, Amanda and the rest of the carnies watch as the earthquake caused by Samuel destroys an entire town. In "The Art of Deception", Lydia confronts Samuel about how his recent actions made everyone afraid of him, questioning him about what his real goal is. Samuel accepts his fault and promises to gain the trust of all the carnies again, although he starts speculating that Lydia must be the one to replace Joseph within the carnival. When Claire returns to the Carnival, Lydia senses danger as Noah attempts to come and kill Samuel, and decides to take Amanda and leave, but Samuel intercepts them, and finally learns that Noah is near and decides to turn himself in. Samuels calls for all carnies as he recognizes his faults and tells them he will go with Noah, but from the forest a sniper starts shooting Samuel, Claire and the carnies, mortally wounding Lydia. Samuel approaches the dying Lydia to apparently kiss her goodbye, but he really means to show Lydia the truth: he sent Eli into the woods to injure him and kill her, making Noah the one responsible, whilst he is left as a victim. Helplessly, Lydia dies is Samuel's arms, and her tattoos disappear.
Joseph Sullivan, portrayed by Andrew Connolly, was the leader of the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", until his mysterious death. Seeing his burial in "Orientation" and being mentioned so many times, mainly by his brother Samuel, Lydia and Edgar, he is referred to as a kind and fair leader, with visions of family and peace far from Samuel's. As his rightful successor, Samuel tries to fill his void by adding new members to the family, although Lydia and Edgar say it was not Joseph's will (Acceptance). In the episode "Ink", Samuel reveals he and Joseph once lived and served at a mansion while kids. In the episode "Hysterical Blindness", Samuel chooses Sylar from a list of evolved humans as the one who will fill the void left by Joseph's death, although is unknown what ability Joseph held. In "Shadowboxing", Samuel states Danko is the one who killed Joseph and that's why he kept a compass hidden, Joseph's.
Joseph is first introduced as Lydia remembers her story in the graphic novel "The Painted Lady", where Joseph is revealed to be the one who accepted Lydia into the carnival ring, though Samuel did not agree to it.
In flashbacks during the episode "Brother's Keeper", Joseph is seen in his trailer talking to Mohinder Suresh about Coyote Sands' Project Icarus, involving Samuel's power limits: he becomes stronger when surrounded by other posthumans. While alive, Joseph kept this secret from Samuel, but once he learnt this he confronts both Mohinder and Joseph separately. In "Thanksgiving", Hiro and Lydia travel back eight weeks ago to witness Joseph's murder; then, they find Samuel arguing with Joseph about his ability and how to become more powerful, and Joseph confesses to have Mohinder burn the film and even lend a compass to Danko so he will hunt Samuel and keep him away because he is too dangerous. Samuel propels a rock through Joseph's throat and embraces him while he dies.
In the graphic Novel "Bloodlines", nearly a year prior to his death, Joseph is seeing sending Eli away as he stole from local farms together with Samuel. He then faces his brother realizing Samuel is getting harder to control as days pass. Joseph then talks to a much younger version of Arnold, to whom he refers as "brother", and asks to go to Coyote Sands Relocation Center back in 1961 to kill baby Samuel. During Christmas dinner, Joseph worries about the absence of Arnold, unknowing he failed, and asks Samuel and Lydia to find him, but Lydia's tattoo show her the old-Arnold (Ernie Crum) somewhere at the year-prior-present, in his terminal condition wearing a nasal prong. Once with Arnold, Joseph helps him overcome the amnesia and remember who he really was. He asks Joseph to find his son, Mel Crum, finally understanding he was killed by Emile Danko. Joseph then in seen meeting Danko and giving him a compass so he would be able to find Samuel and terminate him. Although Danko states he will come for everyone at the carnival, Joseph assures him he will only let him get Samuel.
In "Upon This Rock", as Samuel remembered his childhood, younger versions of Joseph and Samuel are seen while living at the carnival; they discuss over the fact Samuel wants to develop his ability so Vanessa would return to him.
Lydia reveals that Joseph was a great leader of the Carnival and made it into a good place for specials, unlike Samuel who just uses it as his own powerhouse. Lydia believes that the Carnival could be like it was with Joseph running it if it has a new leader who could do the job like Joseph did. Lydia believes that new leader to be Peter Petrelli who Samuel himself said could be "the next Joseph". In "The Art of Deception", Samuel states that Lydia has become the empath who will replace Joseph, so he ultimately sends Eli to kill her.
Rebecca "Becky" Taylor, portrayed by Tessa Thompson, possesses the power of invisibility. She is first introduced in "Hysterical Blindness" as a pledge master for a sorority on Claire Bennet's college campus. She is connected to the Sullivan Bros. Carnival by way of her "Uncle Samuel". It is revealed that she is the one responsible for the death of Claire's first roommate, Annie, and for fueling Claire's suspicion of Gretchen. When Claire and Gretchen are exploring the slaughterhouse as part of the hazing process, an invisible Becky attempts to kill Gretchen twice, but is thwarted by Claire at both turns. Becky exhibits her power in front of all four girls being hazed and is forced to flee after Claire hits her. It's revealed in "Shadowboxing" that Becky has an unpleasant past with Noah Bennet as he killed her father during a bag and tag mission for the Company; her fear towards Noah activating her invisibility. Becky grew up hating Noah and when she learned Claire was his daughter, she used the sorority cover to approach her; the rush attacks were her method of getting her revenge using Claire as a pawn. Finally, Samuel shocks her using Noah's taser, and carries her to the carnival. Once there, he apologizes to Becky, and though she feels she messed up her mission, Samuel assures things turn out good for them as Claire sees the carnival and Noah in different ways now.
In the graphic novels "Reaching Out", Becky has been sent by Samuel to Savannah, Georgia to kill Tracy Strauss, but a boy named Ricky notices a flying knife and shoots green energy towards it, revealing Becky in front of Tracy; she then fades away again while Eli's clone tries to escape. Then, Becky tries to attack Ricky, but Tracy summons freezing air, stopping her just in time to save Ricky. Her fate after this is unknown.
Bianca Karina is an agent of the Company who can adapt her lungs to enable her to breathe in any environment, including underwater. She is partnered with Devin Patterson and engaged to Gael Cruz. She is first seen in "Root and Branch, Part 1" when she and Patterson capture one of Julien Dumont's rogue clones. She is next seen in "Berlin", where she, Gael, and Devin are sent to capture the German. After Gael is incapacitated and Devin is killed, Bianca uses her ability to knock him out. With the help of Paul Harding and Ahlrich Dekker, they get the German to headquarters. At the end of the Evs Dropper arc, she defends Donna Dunlap from Gael, locking him in a cell. After Donna and Eric Thompson, identify Connie Logan as Evs Dropper, she is leads those sent to fight her. Once the majority of agents are killed, Bianca shoots the root Julien Dumont and all clones are killed. In "The Butterfly Effect" and "Dreams Until Death", she and Gael confront Sylar outside the Bennet house after he leaves having taken Claire Bennet's ability, and she is killed by Sylar after she and Gael attempt to capture him. However, Gael identifies himself as "special", so Bianca gets a quick death and her power is not taken.
Caleb, portrayed by Dusty Sorg, is a worker at the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival" and loyal lackey of Samuel Sullivan who seems to monitor the activities within the "family", as he is seen spying and informing Samuel in webisodes and iStories (and even to Joseph in Bloodlines, Part 1). He is introduced in Slow Burn webisodes as he spies on Edgar and Lydia. Later, he befriends Lydia's daughter, Amanda, once she gets to the carnival. After seeing her ability, he is out to introduce Amanda to the carnival, especially to Samuel. In the way they encounter Sylar and after shaking hands with Amanda, he witnesses Amanda's journey, and advises her to return to her mother. Caleb gets angry by this and turns into a spider-like monster to attack Sylar, but he manages to take him down using his electrical power. Caleb apologizes with Amanda, who understands the trouble to control one's ability and quickly checks on him (Yang & Yang). Later, Edgar incapacitates Caleb using his knives to subdue him, and tells Amanda to return to her mother; she then goes away (Smoke and Mirrors).
He is introduced in the main series in the episode "Thanksgiving" as part of the carnival family during the Thanksgiving dinner. After Edgar's escape, Samuel orders Caleb to keep an eye on Amanda, so he forces her to go with him pushing her into a trailer. Next, Caleb's corpse is seen burning while Amanda is clearly shocked about killing him (Slow Burn Part 9).
Echo DeMille, portrayed by Kiko Ellsworth, is a prisoner of Level 5 with the ability to manipulate sound. He was almost captured by the Constrictor and Howard, but used his power to escape. When the Constrictor later took his girlfriend hostage, Echo was forced to kill him. He took out another pair of agents making his escape. When trying to meet with his girlfriend, Echo used the brown note to avoid two more Company agents. He arranged to meet her thirteen weeks later at his family's cabin only to be ambushed by Penny and Connie Logan, Elle Bishop, and several other paired agents. Using his ability, he incapacitated all but one - a posthuman with the ability to absorb sound. The agent captured him, and Echo was detained to Level 5, where Angela Petrelli implied a former connection to him.
He also appeared in the TV series at the episode "Dual", wherein Sylar later puts the Company facility into lockdown, Noah releases Echo and the other recaptured prisoners, offering them freedom if they can kill Sylar. Echo is subsequently killed by Sylar, his throat slashed open.
Rachel Mills, portrayed by Taylor Cole, is the daughter of Leona Mills and a father with the ability to teleport. Rachel, as time goes on, goes on a journey of self-exploration and is gradually drawn into the secret world of people with special powers, all beginning with the trauma of her mother's apparent suicide, which she never recovered from and eventually drove her to join the United States Marine Corps. After an experience in an unusual biological experimentation lab while serving as a USMC Corporal in Iraq, Rachel found her career at an end, and so was recruited by Pinehearst as part of their "super-soldier" program, agreeing to accept injections of Mohinder Suresh's experimental formula to fight a war against dangerous specials. It is at this time that Rachel discovers she already has a power, having unknowingly developed her teleportation ability that she inherited from her father.
After surviving the explosive disaster at Pinehearst, Rachel is interrogated by Angela Petrelli in order to locate a vial of the serum Rachel had salvaged after the incident. Rachel is imprisoned until she finally accepts her ability, which she uses to teleport out of the Company facility and finally escape, with Angela secretly watching.
Discharged from the USMC, Rachel uses her background as a decorated combat veteran to apply to join what she believes to be an elite security organization, but, after a thorough interview regarding her past experiences with people with abilities, Rachel discovers it to be actually a secret task force agency set up by the Department of Homeland Security - code-named "Building 26", at the behest of Senator Nathan Petrelli, to hunt down and imprison people with powers. Rachel is accepted and becomes an elite government agent.
Concealing her ability, Rachel works with the agency to fight her fellow kind, gradually earning respect and admiration from the rest of her colleagues (especially from Senior Agent Emile Danko) and is soon considered the best agent in the agency. However, she is eventually contacted by the mysterious "Rebel", who blackmails her into assisting him undermine Building 26's operations and helping people escape government persecution.
Initially Rachel is still hostile to her fellow kind and is only complying with "Rebel"'s demands for her own well-being, but with time she sees her fellow agents actions are too extreme and also that the special people are being un-fairly prosecuted, and so willingly joins their spreading resistance to Building 26. This ultimately leads to Rachel being forced to kill her partner, Agent Jason Pierce, when he discovers her ability. When her role in Jason's death is exposed, she is exiled from the agency and eventually captured along with several other rebels. Assigned to kill a resistance member named "Linda Niles", Rachel refuses when she recognizes the woman to be Leona Mills; her mother. Leona, however, fakes her death in an extremely convincing manner then and there, and is able to slip away while Rachel is forced to battle Janey Pierce - Jason's sister and an Army intelligence officer. After a vicious fight, Rachel defeats Pierce.
Later on, after Building 26 is formally shut-down, Rachel and other resistance members are summoned by "Rebel" to meet him in person, Angela and Leona. Mother and daughter finally reunite. In the months that followed, Rachel and her mother moved together back to their hometown of Lyneboro, Connecticut. Rachel had hoped to settle down in civilian life as a seemingly ordinary police officer, but was once again drawn into the hidden heroes world while investigating unusual activities, and becomes embroiled in the turf wars between different special ones' factions that rose in the aftermath of the defeat of Building 26. Her current status is unknown.
Amanda Strazzulla, portrayed by Sasha Pieterse, is the daughter of Lydia who abandoned her because she was too young to raise her. She lives in New England with Lydia's sister Carol Strazzulla, and months ago manifested spontaneous combustion, the ability to explode things with the power of her mind, which caused her aunt to fear her, and also lured Noah Bennet and Meredith Gordon while they worked together for the Company during the Villains' arc (Boom). Lydia senses danger near her daughter, so she calls Amanda with the cellphone Edgar got her while he was out to retrieve Danko's compass to Samuel (Running in Circles). During the conversation, Lydia reveals herself as Amanda's mother, and Amanda tells Lydia about her power manifestation and that she feels like a freak; Lydia comforts Amanda, but they are interrupted by Carol (Slow Burn Parts 1 and 2). The fact that Lydia didn't want Amanda to come to her caused Amanda to destroy her house, burning her aunt as well. Because of this, she meets Peter Petrelli, who makes her feel she is not alone in this world after seeing his super speed. Ultimately, he convinces her to trust in her family, so she decides to find Lydia (Amanda's Journey, Part 1: When Everything Changed). On her way to find Lydia, she meets Tracy Strauss, who gives her a ride so she could catch the bus she missed. Later, Amanda feels she can be a hero and tries to stop two robbers in a car, but her power gets out of control and she nearly kills them; in that moment Tracy returns and freezes the fire. Tracy agrees to take Amanda all along to her destiny and in the way she would teach her how to control her ability. Next, Amanda arrives at the carnival (Amanda's Journey, Part 2: Thank Goodness for Tracy Strauss). When she finally gets to Lydia, she is shocked, which made her burn several things, and leaves her trailer. Outside she meets Caleb and then she shows him her ability (Slow Burn Parts 4 and 5). After this, Caleb wants to introduce Amanda to the carnival, especially to Samuel. On the way they come across Sylar and after shaking hands with her, he witnesses Amanda's journey, and advices her to return to her mother. Caleb is angered by this and turns into a spider-like monster to attack Sylar, but Sylar manages to take him down using his electrical power. Amanda understands the trouble to control one's ability and quickly checks on Caleb, then she gets a message from Lydia (Yang & Yang). Later, Edgar incapacitates Caleb and tells Amanda to return to her mother, but she chooses to explore the carnival instead. She meets the Bowman family and watches their fire-breathing ability making her want to be a Bowman herself. Then she watches a shiny, gold-skin lady and decides to befriend her. Then she watches Arnold´s altar and wishes to have a family that would honor her in her funeral. Then Amanda decides to finally meet Samuel, who was expecting her at Lydia's trailer (Smoke and Mirrors and Slow Burn Part 6). Samuel introduces the carnival to Amanda, a place where she can be free to use her ability as well as a safe place for her to call home. Despite Lydia and Edgar's efforts to convince both Samuel and Amanda there was no place for her, Amanda decides to stay at the carnival stating Lydia can't act as her mother as Samuel has become more like a father to her since Amanda got there (Slow Burn Parts 7 and 8).
She is introduced in the main series in the episode "Thanksgiving" as part of the carnival family during the Thanksgiving dinner. There she informs Samuel that Lydia went off to find "the japanese guy". After Edgar's escape, Amanda tries to comfort Lydia and asks her why Edgar left. Samuel then enters the trailer and asks Amanada to leave them alone. Once outside, Caleb grabs Amanda by the arm and forces her to go with him pushing her into a trailer. Later, Caleb's corpse is seen burning while Amanda is clearly shocked about killing him (Slow Burn Part 9). In the episode "The Fifth Stage", Amanda appears together with carny children listening to Samuel's story about an ogre, and Claire's story about a frog; Samuel then calls off the night. After Caleb's death, Lydia comforts Amanda, who blames her lack of emotional control to be the cause of her sporadic outbursts of power. Lydia assures her she is not a murder and she should go back home, but Amanda is afraid of losing control again and decides she is where she belongs. Later, the Bowmans introduce Amanda to the public, who recently joined their fire act, while Lydia looks on worried about her daughter (Slow Burn Part 10).
In "Upon This Rock", Claire watches as Lydia and Amanda discuss the fact some carnies want to date her, which Lydia does not approve; this reminds Claire of her life with her mother. In "Close to You, Amanda is annoyed with her mother making trouble for Samuel and when Lydia mentions that the Carnival needs a new leader and she knows who's perfect for the job, Amanda suggests she call him, which leads to Lydia empathically reaching out to him. In "Pass/Fail", Amanda alongside Lydia and other carnies watch horrified how Samuel sinks a whole town without reason.
This list includes every non-powered relative of the main characters to have been seen either in the TV series or in the graphic novels.
Kate Bennet, portrayed by Sherri Saum, was Noah's first wife in 1985, seen in "The Wall", introduced as she revealed Noah she was pregnant. That night both were assaulted by a telekinetic man named Richard who ended up killing Kate. This event triggered Noah's psychotic depression, paranoia and having investigations about posthumans and finally put him in the Company's way.
Lyle Bennet, portrayed by Randall Bentley, is Claire Bennet's younger brother and the son of Noah and Sandra Bennet. Lyle finds out about his sister's healing powers by watching a videotape showing her quickly recovering from such otherwise deadly experiences as being hit by a car and falling nearly thirty feet. He confirms his realization by stapling Claire's hand and watching it heal, though Claire convinces him to keep the secret and to hand her the tape.[27] After Claire tells her father that Lyle knows about her powers, Mr. Bennet has the Haitian remove Lyle's memories about her healing abilities.[28] but later he becomes aware of her powers again. Four months later he began a new life with the surname 'Butler', along with the rest of the family.[29] Whether Lyle was adopted by the Bennets is never mentioned within the series, although in a deleted scene from "Nothing to Hide" Claire tells him she is "glad we're both adopted".
Sandra Bennet, portrayed by Ashley Crow, is Claire Bennet's adoptive mother and the wife of Noah Bennet. She has great affection for her pet pomeranian, Mr. Muggles. She is at first unaware of her husband's activities or her daughter's powers, and the Haitian has wiped her memories several times on her husband's orders.[28] However, after Claire meets Hank and Lisa, Sandra tells Claire that she and Mr. Bennet had tried unsuccessfully to find her biological parents when she was a baby because they thought she might have a rare chromosomal disorder.[30]
Sylar tries to murder her, but she is saved by Mr. Bennet and the Haitian.[31] They also, once again, erase her memory of the event, which becomes evident to Claire when Sandra does not recall allowing her to skip school. After this erasure, her memory continues to degrade, as demonstrated by an event where she does not recognize Mr. Muggles or Claire, and then a few minutes later has no recollection of the episode. She complains of headaches and sees a neurologist. She collapses and is taken to the hospital, where she is diagnosed with a subdural hematoma.[32] Upon her return to the house, she is held hostage with the rest of her family by Matt Parkman and Ted Sprague, and witnesses her daughter's regenerative powers.
After the hostage stand-off, she and her family stay at a hotel. She reveals to Bennet that he had told her everything the previous day, including what happened to Claire. Under her husband's orders, she only pretends that she has lost her memory. However, the illusion-casting Candice Wilmer impersonated her shortly afterwards in order to trick Mr. Bennet into revealing that he'd sent Claire away, and it is not clear at which point the impersonation actually began.[33]
She was not seen again until "Four Months Later…", in which she has begun a new life with the surname 'Butler', along with the rest of the family.
In the alternate future portrayed in the episode "Five Years Gone", it is revealed that she leaves Mr. Bennet. Claire also used the name "Sandra" as an alias in this episode.
When Meredith Gordon is called in to watch over the family in "The Butterfly Effect", Sandra finds her position in the house threatened and would often clash with Meredith over raising Claire, especially when Meredith acts like the "cool" mom and allows Claire to skip school so that they could train together.
When Claire later goes after Eric Doyle in "Dying of the Light", Sandra does not object and in fact goes as her partner. Their plan fails but during a twisted game of Russian roulette, Claire has Sandra shoot and apparently kill her tricking Doyle and allowing Claire to knock him out freeing Sandra and Meredith. Noah arrests Doyle and takes him back to Level 5 later.
Sandra learns the truth about Noah's job from Claire in "Building 26" and, after a heated argument, asks Noah to leave the house, apparently for good. She then discovers Alex Woolsley hiding in Claire's closet in "Exposed", and after expressing her disappointment over the situation, decides to help. She created a fake ID using Lyle's driver's license to help Alex start over, and she and Claire successfully hide him from Rachel Mills and her partner, who have been performing surveillance on the Bennets ever since Claire brought Alex back with her.
In "Turn and Face the Strange", Sandra goes to visit Noah in Washington, only for him to assault her, believing her to be Sylar in disguise (Sylar had, in fact, come by disguised as Sandra earlier to force divorce papers on Noah). Holding her down on the table with a gun to the back of the head, he remains unconvinced that it is the real Sandra even after she recounts several past events of their lives (believing that Sylar had acquired telepathic abilities). It is only after Lyle calls to ask where the dog medicine is and Sandra accurately answers him that Noah realizes his mistake. However, the damage is already done; despite Noah's attempts to explain, an enraged and terrified Sandra orders him to leave, later divorcing him as Sylar had intended.
Several months later when Noah calls the house one evening, a man answers the phone and appears to be living there. Shocked at the turn of events, Noah hangs up and does not speak with Sandra once she answers. It is implied (or at least Noah believes) that she has moved on and is now living with a boyfriend. After the death of her daughter's roommate in "Orientation" she had let a shaken and frightened Claire stay the night with her off campus. They are seen returning to the campus of Arlington University as Sandra reminisces about her years at AU, and Claire introduces her to Gretchen Berg before Sandra leaves.
In "Thanksgiving" Sandra has in fact moved on from Noah with a man named Doug, who states that their meeting was "love at first sight", though with Mr. Muggles and Doug's dog Ms. Lovegood; they both attend the Thanksgiving dinner that Noah is hosting at his apartment. Sandra meets Lauren Gilmore and, believing her to be his date, immediately becomes jealous, though she hides this from everybody in attendance. Her boyfriend also is not very bright which she even admits to, but Sandra says he's a good man. Despite her divorce with Noah, they seem to possess at least a cordial relationship and he has now moved on too with Lauren Gilmore. It is revealed in "The Wall" that Noah's marriage to Sandra was Company-arranged, though Sandra has remained unaware of this throughout the series; she is also shown to have worked as a waitress.
Martin Gray, portrayed by Ned Schmidtke, is Sylar's adoptive father and biological uncle. He abandoned Sylar and his mother, Virginia, when Sylar was very young. In the third volume, Sylar learns that Martin is not his biological father, prompting him to track Martin down in "A Clear and Present Danger". Martin reveals that his brother, Samson Gray, is his real father, and that he adopted Sylar to appease Virginia and their marital problems.
Virginia Gray, portrayed by Ellen Greene, is Sylar's mother. When Sylar visits Virginia, she constantly pushes Sylar to "be special," even saying that he could become President if he wanted to. Sylar reveals his powers, accidentally injuring her, and confesses his guilt since he thinks he will be the exploding man and kill many people. Both instances only alienate the two, and Virginia demands that Sylar leave her house and give back her son Gabriel. She brandishes a pair of scissors at Sylar, but is accidentally stabbed in the heart when they struggle for the scissors. In "I Am Sylar", Sylar, as Agent Taub, is given a box of Virginia's old knickknacks, including some of her many snow globes and the pair of scissors that killed her. He starts having conversations with her via shapeshifting while trying to figure out why he is so "lost." In "Tabula Rasa", she appears in mirrors reflecting Sylar's real memories as Damien has used his ability on him; he even remembers killing her and so every victim.
Kimiko Nakamura, portrayed by Saemi Nakamura, is the daughter of Kaito and older sister of Hiro. She is very intelligent and motivated, and wishes to advance in her father's company, Yamagato Industries. She accompanies her father to New York to retrieve Hiro.[31] She gets along with her brother, in comparison to his and their father's strained relationship, as evidenced by the way Kimiko's pleas and reasoning get much further than Kaito's authoritative tactics (up to and including kidnapping). Hiro convinced his father that Yamagato has a successor in Kimiko. It is unknown if Kimiko has any abilities.
In the graphic novel "Heroism Is Found In The Heart", Ando tries to get close to her, but the leader of a bikers' gang tries to kidnap her. Ando "helps" her escape, although she displays some fighting skills. Ando ends up as the hero, and she kisses him in gratitude. But it was really Kaito who scared the bikers as he was standing on the roof of a building wielding his sword.
In "Cautionary Tales", Kimiko is present with Ando and Hiro at Kaito's funeral.
She also appears in the graphic novel "Past Experience", as she continues the tradition of Takezo Kensei's legend through the Yamagato Fellowship, and she settles as the CEO of Yamagato Industries. Here, she displays skills with the sword as well.
In the fifth volume, "Redemption," it is revealed that she has hated Ando since their childhood, as he accidentally spilled his slushie on her favorite dress. However, she and Ando end up engaged to be married after Hiro changes the past, resulting in the two having dated since high school, as Hiro changed the past and prevented the Slushy spill. She learns about Hiro's terminal illness and abilities in "Acceptance", when he reveals he's dying and then accidentally teleports away. She is shown to care about Hiro a lot, even though he annoys her with his antics: she asks him to give her away at the wedding as they are the last remaining members of their family. When Hiro reveals his illness to her, she is extremely emotional about it. Despite the changes in her relationship with Ando, it does not seem to have affected his adventures with Hiro any and he still possesses his powers, although she probably is not aware of them.
Janice Parkman, portrayed by Lisa Lackey, is the ex-wife of telepathic police officer Matt Parkman. Their marriage has been troubled for some time, with both becoming increasingly distant. Janice blames their problems on his jealousy of her prospering career while his has been stalling. However, when Matt disappears for a day, she is truly worried about him. Matt then tries to fulfill her every need by reading her thoughts to improve their marriage. Matt discovers that she had had an affair with his ex-partner. Two weeks later, after Matt tells Janice of his ability to read minds, the pair's marriage and relationship begins to mend. When Matt gets a six-month suspension for his rogue actions at work, she provides him with emotional support and reveals that she is pregnant. Four months later Matt and Janice are divorced, and Matt later reveals to Nathan Petrelli that the child his wife bore is not his, but rather the man's with whom his wife cheated.[29] Matt Parkman sees a vision of his wife in a dream sequence or illusion created by his father Maury Parkman, in which he was holding a baby and saying that Matt left his son just like his father had left Matt.
In the fourth volume episode "Cold Snap", in Los Angeles, Janice arrives home to find Hiro and Ando babysitting her son, Matt Jr., who was next on the list of Danko's agents. It's revealed that Matt really is the baby's father, and once Janice learns about Ando's powers, she grows more comfortable around him and Hiro. She believes Matt is a terrorist due to Danko framing him, but Ando and Hiro are able to set her straight about him being framed. Agents soon arrive, and she is taken in while Hiro and Ando take her son to safety. Thanks to her son, Hiro regains his powers and is able to carry Matt Jr. and Ando to safety. As she's seen free later, they probably released her eventually. In "I Am Sylar", Matt Sr. returns their son to Janice, and he states that they deserve a life together as a family. They nearly get caught by agents, but Matt is able to use his telepathic powers to protect them and sends Janice and their son into hiding while he helps bring down Building 26.
In Redemption, she is trying to have a normal life and marriage with Matt Sr., and even encourages his decision to never use his ability again. It's indicated that they have remarried, as Sylar refers to Janice as Matt's wife in one episode. As Sylar poisons Matt's mind, he begins to mistrust her, thinking the water boy is her lover. After a while, Matt tells the truth to Janice and asks her to take Matt Jr. somewhere safe away from him. After returning home, she finds Matt drunk, stating to have beaten Sylar. Once Sylar is really gone, Matt stays home as a full time daddy, which leads Janice to constantly ask him to go out for a while without complaining about the chores he does; Matt asks her if she thinks he is a coward for not being out there acting as the hero he is, but Janice encourages his decision of being there for his family (Close to You). In "Pass/Fail", Sylar gets to the Parkmans' house and asks Janice where he can find Matt; Janice apparently remembers him. In "The Art of Decepticon", she has Sylar help her bring in the groceries and then go with Matt into the basement to see what he's working on. In order to force Matt to block his powers, Sylar telekinetically holds her against a wall and thretens to use every power he has to kill her until Matt convinces him to stop and allow her to leave. Realizing who Sylar really is, Janice convinces Matt to do something to permanently stop him before leaving, leading to Matt trapping Sylar in his own nightmare.
Heidi Petrelli, portrayed by Rena Sofer, is Nathan Petrelli's wife and is involved with his strategies for his bid for congressional office. She uses a wheelchair for mobility after being paralyzed in a car crash in the episode "Six Months Ago" caused by Linderman's accomplices under the orders of Arthur Petrelli while Nathan was driving. Nathan, while trying to control the car, suddenly found himself flying for the first time. Tragically, he could not figure out how to get back down to his car and the car crashed into a highway barrier. During a brunch set up by her mother-in-law, an invited journalist implies that Nathan may have cheated on her with a blonde during his trip to Las Vegas to see Mr. Linderman. She doubts Peter's story with an innocent explanation of the woman, but when Nathan confirms it in private, she tells him she believes him. Heidi says that she is determined to recover but only if Nathan is true to her. Heidi remained unseen for most of the season. She did, however, return to the Petrelli mansion in Manhattan with her and Nathan's two sons, Monty and Simon.[34] Heidi has yet to meet Claire and is currently unaware that she exists and that she is Nathan's illegitimate daughter. Even though his men reportedly put her in this condition under Arthur Petrelli's instructions, Linderman heals Heidi, who now can walk again.[35]
When Nathan drives Heidi away,[29] she moves to Washington, D.C.[36]
In the episodes "Upon This Rock" and "Let It Bleed", Heidi appears together with Monty and Simon in Nathan's funeral.
Simon and Monty Petrelli, portrayed by Justin Evans and Jackson Wurth, are the juvenile sons of Nathan and Heidi Petrelli, seen participating in the Petrelli campaign during the 2006 election. Following the presumed death of their uncle, Peter, Nathan's depression and heavy drinking caused Heidi to leave Nathan, taking their sons with her. As of the second season episode "Kindred", they live and attend a private school in Washington, D.C.[36]
In the episodes "Upon This Rock" and "Let It Bleed", Heidi appears together with Monty and Simon in Nathan's funeral.
Chandra Suresh, portrayed by Erick Avari, was born in Chennai and is Mohinder's late father, as well as the author of Activating Evolution, a book which appears to explain the reason so many people with powers are suddenly appearing. He found a means of tracking and locating potential powered people. He was also connected with Sylar, whom he referred to as "Patient Zero". On a taped telephone conversation from shortly before Chandra's death, however, he said he wanted nothing to do with Sylar, and insisted the man stop calling him. Before his death, Chandra kept a male lizard named Mohinder.
According to a dream Mohinder had, Chandra was killed while sitting in the driver's seat of his cab by a man wearing a watch, which was stopped at 11:53, a watch which Sylar is often seen wearing. Eden McCain, Chandra's one-time neighbor, claimed Sylar was his murderer. Sylar later claimed that Chandra became very close to him at one time and shared things he felt Mohinder was too "fragile" to know, including information on his sister.
In "Turn and Face the Strange" and "1961" it was revealed that Chandra was part of the government project that studied persons with special abilities at Coyote Sands Relocation Center, named Project Icarus. Several recordings of this project are seen in a film found by Mohinder during the episodes "Brother's Keeper" and "Thanksgiving", showing the events surrounding the birth of Samuel Sullivan and the extension of his power.
Shanti Suresh is Chandra Suresh's daughter, also born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. In the episode "Seven Minutes to Midnight", Mohinder Suresh's mother tells him that she had died at the age of five, two years after he was born. But in the later episode, "The Hard Part", he states that he never got to see her because she died before he was born. His blood actually possessed the antibodies she needed to survive, but he was born just a few months too late. Chandra Suresh said she had a genetic abnormality.[6] Her death, along with several other factors, prompted Chandra Suresh to begin his investigations into people with special powers. Sylar also knows about Shanti from his time working with Chandra.[33] Mohinder was not aware of her existence until his mother told him.[5]
Damon Dawson, portrayed by Carlon Jeffery, is Monica's younger brother. When Micah comes to live with the Dawsons, Damon initially bullies him. But when Micah uses his power to tune in pay-per-view television, Damon starts to accept his cousin. He gets Micah's backpack stolen, which eventually leads to Niki Sanders' death.
In the "Rebellion" graphic novels, is stated that he and Nana were abducted by HLS's agents in the search for Micah and Monica. By the time Peter and Matt enter Building 26 ("Exposed"), the Rebellion team is already there to find and free Nana and Damon from their sedated-state, and they succeeded.
"Nana" Dawson, portrayed by Nichelle Nichols, is Micah Sanders' Great Aunt and grandmother of Monica and Damon Dawson. She lives with her grandchildren in New Orleans after her daughter, Monica and Damon's mother, is killed during Hurricane Katrina. Niki Sanders leaves Micah in Nana's care when she leaves to join the Company.
In the "Rebellion" graphic novels, is stated that she and Damon were abducted by DHS's agents in the search for Micah and Monica. A person accredited as "Dawson, N." is listed among those prisoners being transported in the DHS's Flight 195, although is unknown if her actual name starts with N. By the time Peter and Matt enter Building 26 ("Exposed"), the Rebellion team is already there to find and free Nana and Damon from their sedated-state, and they succeeded. She informs them Monica was taken away from there.

Hank and Lisa, portrayed by Colby French and Karri Turner, claim to be a former couple and Claire Bennet's biological parents in "Better Halves". Mr. Bennet tells Claire that he has arranged through an adoption agency for Hank and his former girlfriend, Lisa, to meet Claire and answer her questions. Hank and Lisa tell Claire that they were high school sweethearts who split up before her birth. Hank wanted to keep Claire, while Lisa wanted to give her up for adoption. Hank tells Claire that he has a family history of heart disease and cancer, while Lisa tells that she has diabetes, but neither tell Claire anything that explains how she got her healing powers.
It is revealed that Hank is actually a doctor working with Mr. Bennet, who later performs tests on Sylar.[37] Hank is killed by Sylar, who then escapes from containment at Primatech.[38]
Audrey Hanson, portrayed by Clea DuVall, is an FBI agent pursuing Sylar. Three months after Sylar begins his murder spree, Audrey catches sight of him in Chicago, but he eludes her by escaping on a subway after giving his cap and trenchcoat to an elderly man, whom Audrey shoots, mistaking him for Sylar.[39]
While investigating the murder of Molly Walker's family in Los Angeles three months later, Audrey initially gets to know Officer Matt Parkman. He reveals to her his ability to read people's minds and she asks him to help the FBI find Sylar. Later, Sylar unsuccessfully attempts to seize Molly from FBI custody. During his escape, Audrey is almost forced to shoot herself because of the man's telekinetic abilities but is saved when Parkman intervenes.[40]
Audrey again requests the aid of Officer Parkman when she suspects that Sylar has killed again. She takes Parkman to the morgue, where they examine the body of a dead oncologist who was burned alive. Audrey is exposed to a dangerously high amount of radiation while investigating the house of Theodore Sprague, whom she believes to be Sylar. She and Parkman find Sprague in the hospital with his dying wife, but Parkman persuades him to surrender.[27] However, Sprague escapes after being taken into custody by Homeland Security, and she again enlists Parkman's aid in hunting him down.[5] Audrey begins to bond with Matt, to the extent of giving him advice on his relationship with his wife, and she looks to become attracted to him.[28] Two weeks later, Audrey and Matt have the FBI raid Primatech Paper Company.[37] However, they find nothing. Audrey's superior then threatens her position with the bureau. Disheartened, Audrey harshly tells Matt their partnership is over. Audrey re-appears in the penultimate episode for the season and arrests Sprague on a tip from Sylar (posing as Isaac Mendez). After Sprague is killed by Sylar, she is seen at the accident site. When a police officer remarks on how the top of someone's head falls off, she walks by and replies, "You don't want to know."
Aron Malsky, portrayed by Kevin Chamberlin, is a lawyer formerly under the employ of Mr. Linderman. He is first seen visiting D.L. Hawkins to retrieve the case of money stolen by Niki/Jessica. He later visits Niki in the psych ward to notify her of her release, due to someone else supposedly confessing to her crimes.[31] Matt Parkman becomes his personal bodyguard for the day while he's in California.[41] Malsky then uses the two million dollars he retrieved from D.L. to buy diamonds for himself. He is finally murdered by Jessica who was sent by Mr. Linderman.
Brody Mitchum, portrayed by Matt Lanter, is a classmate of Claire Bennet and quarterback on the football team at the fictional Union Wells High School. During a celebratory bonfire Brody and Claire wander off to the bleachers, where he attempts to rape her.[40] He accidentally throws her onto a tree branch and considers her dead when a branch impales the back of her head. In "Collision" he is shaken to see her alive again. After Claire discovers that Brody has raped at least one other girl, she convinces him to let her drive them both home in his car, but then, in an attempt to scare him, rams the car headfirst into a brick wall. She drags his unconscious body from the car when it catches fire and ultimately explodes.[42] When he wakes up and sees Claire unharmed, he realizes that she is not a normal human being. After learning of the attempted rape of his daughter, an enraged Mr. Bennet has his associate, the Haitian, wipe out all of Brody's memory. Brody, severely injured, is later seen in a wheelchair attending Homecoming.
Mira Shenoy, portrayed by Kavi Ladnier, is a geneticist and love interest of Mohinder Suresh, first seen in "Seven Minutes to Midnight", during the funeral of Chandra Suresh in India. Mira offers Mohinder a job in her company so he could return to Madras and forget about his father's research, but he ultimately refuses and returns to New York. In "Brother's Keeper" is shown that Mohinder returned to Madras and lived together with Mira until he was drawn by Project Icarus and left following the compass. In the graphic novel "Second Chances", Mira is abducted by someone interested in Mohinder´s research. With the help of Molly, Mohinder finds Mira and saves her, and they end up sharing a kiss.
Elisa Thayer, portrayed by Stacy Haiduk, is an FBI agent investigating Sylar-related murders who appears in several first-season episodes beginning with "Don't Look Back." The character also appears in the unbroadcast version of the pilot episode.
Eric Thompson, Sr. or commonly referred as Agent Thompson or simply Thompson, portrayed by Eric Roberts, is an associate of Noah Bennet at Primatech, which is a cover for his position as Bennet's superior in The Company. The character is first mentioned in "Wireless, Part Two", and introduced in the graphic novel "How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part Two" tracking down Ted Sprague. He is also seen recruiting a young Haitian ("It Takes A Village, Part 4"), and in a failed attempt to recruit Daphne Millbrook ("The Caged Bird"), prior to "Genesis".
In the episode "Company Man", he is mostly seen in flashbacks of Bennet's past dealings with The Company, but he also gets a brief cameo at the end of the episode where he is seen shooting Ted Sprague in the shoulder, causing him to lose control of his radioactive powers, and expressing interest in Claire Bennet's complete recovery from her exposure to Ted's overload. Due to Bennet's betrayal of The Company, Thompson informs him that he is on death row and that he is just waiting for the order to kill him. His later appearances show him recruiting Mohinder Suresh into the Company, and informing Mohinder of Molly Walker's condition.[43] In the Primatech building, he dies when he is shot twice by Noah Bennet while attempting to kill Matt Parkman.[35]
Thompson is portrayed as a man who plays by the rules and takes his orders very seriously. He gets his orders from Linderman. During a conversation with Nathan Petrelli, Thompson reveals that he knows and approves of the plans to blow up New York.[34] When Nathan implies that Linderman does not have the situation under control, Thompson reassures him that Linderman does.
In the Volume Three episode "Villains", a flashback is shown revealing that Thompson had wanted to train Meredith and Flint Gordon Jr. to be agents for the Company. However, Meredith betrays the Company and tries to escape with her brother. After a heated battle on a train, he captures Meredith and asks her why she hates the Company. Meredith replies that the Company killed her daughter, Claire. Upon hearing this, Thompson lets Meredith go, hinting that Claire is still alive.
In the episode "The Wall", seen in flashbacks, Eric approaches Noah in 1987 to recruit him into the Company after seeing what he is capable of. He later informs Noah the will of the Company for him to get married, suggesting the waitress (Sandra).
In the graphic novel From the Files of Primatech: 1988, Thompson is assigned a mission in East Berlin, Germany during the Cold War along with Claude Rains, in which they must catch or terminate a KGB agent named Sylvia with the ability of mass manipulation. Sylvia ultimately turns into a giant defeating both agents, leaving Claude near death; meanwhile Thompson completes the real mission. Once Claude wakes up at the Company, Angela Petrelli reveals the real target; Eric brought a tracking device (isotope pneumatic injection) from Germany which will allow them to track posthumans, starting with Claude.

"Texas" Tina, portrayed by Deirdre Quinn, is the romance-novel-loving confidante of Niki Sanders who frequently takes care of Niki's son, Micah, and attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings with Niki. When Niki confides in Tina about having blackouts and possibly an alternate personality, Tina tells her that her troubles stem from psychological damage as a result of her dealings with the mob. In "Nothing to Hide", Tina finally meets and flees from Niki's alternate personality, Jessica, after Micah is taken away by D.L. Hawkins.
Jacqueline "Jackie" Wilcox, portrayed by Danielle Savre, is a cheerleader and high school classmate of Claire Bennet. Although she claimed to be "BFF" (best friends forever) with Claire and once revealed plans to run for class president with "good deeds" as her platform, Jackie is an obnoxious rival and dramatic foil for Claire. Jackie repeatedly taunts Zach about his sexual orientation. She is also apparently jealous of Claire and Brody Mitchum, who described Jackie as a gossip. Jackie is eager to be the center of attention and takes credit for a fire rescue Claire performed in "Genesis." Sylar mistakes Jackie for Claire after having read of Jackie's faked heroism and kills her by telekinetically slicing open her skull. Jackie's last word to Claire is "run." She appears again in "Once Upon a Time in Texas", as Hiro travels back in time before Sylar gets to Charlie; Jackie is seen along with Claire and other cheerleaders celebrating the outcome of the homecoming football match. Ultimately, Hiro teleports Sylar to Odessa so he will not harm Charlie, but it is hinted that Jackie and later victims will have the same fate they once had. She appears again in "Pass/Fail" in Hiro's mental trial as the main Sylar's victim Hiro could save besides Charlie.
Zach, portrayed by Thomas Dekker, is a high school classmate of Claire Bennet and one of the first people to know of her powers. He videotapes Claire using her abilities.[44] He tells Claire that he helped her win the Homecoming Queen election by campaigning for her amongst the "unpopular" crowd. He also gives her a book written by Chandra Suresh, which he says details information on her power and others.[45] Claire is overwhelmed and later punches Jackie when she makes homophobic comments towards Zach. After Claire is grounded, Zach enters her bedroom using a ladder and convinces her to come to the Homecoming game.
After Claire tells her father that Zach knows about her powers, Mr. Bennet has the Haitian make him forget about his relationship with Claire and her powers. When Claire approaches him the following day, Zach does not remember having even spoken to her since sixth grade. Nevertheless, Claire convinces Zach to videotape her again and is able to rekindle their friendship.[37] Zach subsequently helps Claire track down her biological parents while also helping to keep her actions secret from her adoptive parents.
Though it was originally intended for Zach to be gay, Dekker's manager "didn't want him to be playing a gay character" for career reasons, and his storyline was later changed.[46][47][48] As producer Bryan Fuller detailed,

We were definitely going down a route of making him the gay character and having him have a big role in Claire's life and sort of teaching her to come out about her ability and embrace herself and actually using the coming out metaphor and the gay metaphor in that instance as a fun piece of storytelling.
There was an unfortunate miscommunication and when the script arrived that had the line in it, 'I would take you to homecoming but you have to know that I don't like girls that way.' The actor Thomas Dekker's manager threatened to pull him from the show because he was up for the John Connor role in The Sarah Connor Chronicles and she didn't want him playing a gay character because it might affect Fox's interest in hiring him. It got really ugly.[49]

Caitlin, portrayed by Katie Carr, is Ricky's sister and a love interest of Peter Petrelli. As a worker at the Wandering Rock Pub in Cork, Ireland, she watches over Peter when he is taken captive by her brother. After Peter uses Isaac's ability to paint a picture of Caitlin and Peter standing outside of a cathedral in Montreal, she goes with him to Montreal, her motivation being that she wants to avenge her brother's death by killing Elle in return. At the end of "The Line", she and Peter accidentally travel one year into the future to find New York evacuated due to a deadly virus, and the country under martial law. In "Out Of Time", Peter returns to the present alone, accidentally leaving her stranded in the future being deported to Ireland. By eventually preventing the release of the virus, Peter stops that future from coming to pass.
Caitlin's fate was originally intended to be revealed in the cancelled volume "Exodus", but due to the writers' strike, it may never be known.[50]
Kyle Dilman, played by Brian Kimmet, was Noah Bennet's manager at Copy Kingdom. In "Four Months Later...", when Noah arrives late for work, Dilman decides to give him a hard time about it. He eventually gets Noah to call him "sir". Later, when Noah is five minutes late from returning from his break, Dilman yells at him again even though the shop is virtually empty. Noah grabs his finger, flips him onto his back, and threatens him. Dilman agrees to let Noah work how he wants, when he wants.
Dilman returns as the main antagonist of the Webseries: Nowhere Man, where he has been promoted to a corporate position at Copy Kingdom Headquarters.
In Part 1, Dilman arrives at "Jason Tyminski"'s workstation, and chastises him for getting some batches of paper mixed up. He mentions that he used to work at Copy Kingdom in Costa Verde. Later, when "Jason" and Lauren Shapiro are chatting, Dilman walks in and tells Lauren to stop talking to "Jason", whom he calls "Jerry", mentioning that the person with whom she is sleeping is Kyle Dilman. Dilman then starts putting papers into a shredder while insulting Jason.
In Part 2, "Jason" approaches his boss, Kyle Dilman. He makes a final attempt to appear professional and expresses his hope that Dilman will write a statement of character for his court case, as Doyle had assaulted his previous boss out of anger. Dilman, however, infers that he may help him out, but "Jerry" must now complete a long list of errands by the end of the day. By night, "Jason" had finally completed the list of tasks. He enters Dilman's office to show he completed the list and interrupts an argument between Dilman and Lauren. When his boss tells "Jerry" to get out (saying that it's "not a good time"), Lauren tells Kyle to stay calm. However, Dilman lashes out at Lauren and tells her to shut up. Doyle's power consumes him and he makes Dilman hit himself in the head with the golf club. Dilman slumps onto the floor, and Lauren watches in shock.
In Part 3, Dilman, with a bandage on his face, arrives from the operating room and asks what is going on. Lauren tries to explain, but Dilman tells her to shut up, saying he spend the night at the hospital due to injury and wakes up to find his girlfriend holdings hands with "Jerry". He takes Lauren by the arm, dragging her out of the hospital. Doyle tries to stop him, saying that Dilman does not deserve her. But Dilman dares him to say something to him. He also adds that "Jerry" should give up and that he's worthless. "Jason" asks him about his letter and Dilman replies that he should forget it and that's he's fired. Dilman and Lauren got out of the hospital, leaving Doyle upset. Outside the hospital, Dilman says to Lauren that if she dates trashes, she will become trash. Having enough, Lauren tells Dilman this is over between them. But Dilman says that only he can say when it is over while brutalizing her. Doyle uses his powers to stop Dilman brutalizing Lauren, making his arms look up. Lauren took her chance to escape. Dilman tries to call Lauren's name, but to no avail. Doyle goes to Dilman, makes Dilman shut up and says that they need to talk.
In Part 4, "Jason" comes knocking on Lauren's door, holding a coffee mug. She tells him of a video message Kyle has sent her, and shares her fears of it being threats or other unpleasant slurs from Dilman. "Jason" suggests to her that Kyle might try to apologize. Lauren agrees, and watches the video, only to see a remorseful Kyle asking for forgiveness for his actions, and reveals to her that he quit his job. Later that night, Doyle summons out Dilman, who he has kept in Doyle's closet. Doyle instructs him to get out of his house, go on a bus and leave town. He threatens that if Kyle Dilman ever mistreats a woman, Doyle will find him.
Detective Bryan Fuller, portrayed by Barry Shabaka Henley, is Matt Parkman's partner in the NYPD. He and Matt are currently investigating the murder of Kaito Nakamura and the attack on Angela Petrelli. He is also Parkman's superior, as he promoted Parkman and made him detective after a successful training session.[29] He arrested Angela Petrelli after her false confession to Kaito Nakamura's death. He is named after the writer/producer Bryan Fuller who worked on Heroes during season 1.
Deborah "Debbie" Marshall, portrayed by Dianna Agron, is the head cheerleader/captain of the cheer squad at Costa Verde High School. She has had negative interactions with both Claire and Martha. She does not want Claire on the squad. She also sees West in disguise come from the sky and seemingly kill Claire but when Claire is proved to be alive, the police think that she is seeing alcohol-induced hallucinations. She was suspended from school and cheerleading after having a blood alcohol level of .13.
Ricky, portrayed by Holt McCallany, is an Irish mobster, first appearing in the season premiere while searching for a shipping container with his partners Tuko and Will. They believed it to contain iPods, but instead found a half-naked Peter Petrelli handcuffed inside the empty container. Subsequently, Peter became both Ricky's prisoner and part of his team, including a romantic liaison with Ricky's sister Caitlin. Ricky was murdered by Elle after refusing to tell her where to find Peter.[4]
The Swordsmith, portrayed by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa is Yaeko's father and the creator of Takezo Kensei's sword. He first appeared in "The Line". He made the guns for Whitebeard's army.
Whitebeard, portrayed by Kurando Mitsutake, was a warlord in 17th century Japan. He first appeared in "Four Months Later...".
Will and Tuko, portrayed by Dominic Keating and Adetokumboh M'Cormack, are two associates of Ricky's. They reside in Cork, Ireland. They work with Ricky in some of his illegal ventures. Will betrays Ricky but is stopped by Peter.[36] Will later reveals information to Elle about the whereabouts of Peter Petrelli. Tuko was on scene at the Wandering Rock Pub when Caitlin arrived to view the destroyed body of her brother.
Yaeko, portrayed by Eriko Tamura, is the swordsmith's daughter in the legend of Takezo Kensei. She lives in Feudal Japan, 1671. In the stories, she is the love interest of Takezo Kensei, though Hiro Nakamura's time travelling reveals that it is actually Hiro whom she loves. Initially, Hiro enamors Yaeko to Kensei by posing as him and rescuing her. This led to Yaeko eventually falling in love with Kensei, but upon discovering that it was actually Hiro who saved her in the first place, she concludes that she was actually in love with Hiro the entire time. Upon witnessing Hiro and Yaeko kiss, Kensei feels betrayed and turns Yaeko, her father (the swordsmith) and Hiro over to Whitebeard and his army. After they escape and Hiro scatters Whitebeard's army, Yaeko spreads his tale under Kensei's name.
In historical context (Heroes Evolutions), Yaeko was known as the Princess. She asked Kensei to protect Japan from Whitebeard, and Kensei did. This eventually led to their wedding, which was interrupted by the "Dragon of Kiso Mountain." The Dragon was looking to take Kensei's love, the Princess. As a response to the Dragon's demands, Kensei cut out his own heart and gave it to the Dragon. What happens next is a bit of a mystery. Legend says that Kensei may have died, or that he was brought back to life by the Dragon, and he and the Princess went away together. However, according to legend, Yaeko is said to be the princess in question, and also the creator of the Takezo tapestries.
In the graphic novel "The Ten Brides of Takezo Kensei", it is revealed that Yaeko had a granddaughter named Yumi, who married Adam Monroe. Adam became bored with her and faked his death by drowning.
Emile Danko, portrayed by Željko Ivanek, also referred to as "The Hunter", is a senior agent of the Department of Homeland Security who served as the leader of a team of soldiers hunting and imprisoning people with abilities on behalf of his superior, Senator Nathan Petrelli. He is the central antagonists during Volume 4: Fugitives. He was part of an incident in Angola and was one of the few who survived. Danko has, for unknown reasons, a hatred for people with abilities; both Noah and Sylar claim he has nothing in life but his work. Danko, who is heavily prejudiced against superpowered posthumans, often defies Nathan's orders by shooting to kill instead of to incapacitate. In order to save his operation from getting shut down, he allows Tracy Strauss to escape and kill an officer in front of an auditor, allowing the operation to get full funding. Danko even goes as far as strapping a bomb onto Matt Parkman and letting him out in front of the Capitol Building to "prove" posthumans are terrorists. After the President removes Danko from his position for what he did, he starts investigating Nathan's past and discovers that he can fly, forcing Nathan to flee and allowing Danko to take over. He later turns to Sylar for help in the operation, and allows Sylar to acquire a shapeshifting ability in order to move around undetected. It was also revealed that he was secretly dating a woman under the guise of a salesman named "Jakob Pradassa" until the relationship was ruined by Matt Parkman when he revealed Danko's true past to her, simultaneously proving that Danko was a monster when he allowed Danko to shoot him even after he had rejected the chance to shoot Danko (Although Matt was still saved by Hiro). After being set up by Sylar, Danko is imprisoned with Noah and the two men form an alliance to defeat Sylar before Hiro and Ando release them. Danko is shocked to discover that Hiro and Ando have released all of the captives and replaced them with all of his men. Danko prepares two tranqulizer needles for Sylar as he is immune to the tasers, but takes the opportunity when Noah has his back turned to try to inject him from behind. However, Hiro freezes time, takes the needle from him, unfrezzes time and tranquilizes Danko instead.
In "Orientation", he saves Noah Bennet from drowning inside his car in Tracy's revenge path. He refuses Noah's advice to stop hunting her after she killed four former DHS agents. After meeting Noah again, the Haitian erased any trace of Tracy from his memory, so he does not remember her when she appears in his apartment to kill him. Minutes later, Edgar arrives and kills him. Noah finds in his corpse a key, which leads him to a safe deposit box and a mysterious compass. In "Shadowboxing", Samuel Sullivan states Danko killed his brother Joseph, and the compass he hid was in fact Joseph's. In "Thanksgiving", Joseph confesses to Samuel that he gave a compass to Danko so he will hunt Samuel down and lock him up because he is too dangerous and its shown that Danko is in fact innocent of murdering Joseph: Samuel killed him himself and blamed it on Danko and later Edgar.
In the graphic novel "Bloodlines, Part 2", prior to Joseph's death, Lydia finds out Arnold´s son, Mel Crum, was killed by Danko during the Fugitives' arc. Joseph approaches Danko and informs him about Samuel; finally he gives Danko a compass so he could find the carnival. Danko hints he will get them all at last, but Joseph is willing only to give up his brother.
Hesam, portrayed by Assaf Cohen, is a paramedic in New York City, friend and co-worker of Peter Petrelli, introduced in "A Clear and Present Danger". He is shown as middle-eastern ascendancy, and so he is at first concerned about Nathan's speech about minorities, unknowing he was talking about posthumans instead.
In Redemption, as Peter returns to work as a paramedic, Hesam is again his partner, and constantly questions Peter about his never ending shifts. By the time Peter mimics Edgar's superhuman speed, Hesam notices Peter always disappears when an emergency calls in, and he is always the first one at the scene. As many other members of the hospital's staff, he starts to believe Peter is behind all those accidents so he could be the hero.
Robert Malden, portrayed by Bruce Boxleitner, is the governor of the state of New York by the time Nathan Petrelli was shot during a press conference in Odessa, Texas. He is introduced in "The Second Coming", while at his apartment he watches together with his lover, Tracy Strauss, the news about Nathan's murder attempt and miraculous recovery; Tracy finally convinces him that Nathan would be the perfect person to fill as junior senator for the state, and he agrees.
In "A Clear and Present Danger", Tracy discusses by phone with governor Malden about Nathan's recent actions and press releases, minutes before she was taken by DHS agents.
In "Acceptance", Tracy visits him in order to get her job back. Although he expects her to return as his mistress once more, Tracy tries to really help people as a politician this time.
Dr. Jonas Zimmerman, portrayed by Ronald Guttman, is a former employee of the Company. He helped create the formula that grants synthetic abilities. Under Company orders, he delivered Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss, as well as their third sister Barbara, and gave them their abilities. After his tenure with the Company was over, however, many of his memories of employment there were erased. It is later revealed in the episode "1961" that he was working with Chandra Suresh at Coyote Sands, conducting research on posthumans for the government, Project Icarus.
In "From the Files of Primatech: 1991", as Bob tried to deal with his daughter Elle, Jonas eavesdropped his conversation with Charles Deveaux, and then suggested Bob to treat Elle as any other posthuman and test her abilities, which Bob easily agreed. Here, Jonas is seen bringing young Simone Deveaux to his father along with Barbara, who seems to be friends.
Gretchen Berg, portrayed by Madeline Zima, is a college student of Arlington University who befriends Claire Bennet in "Orientation". She recognizes Claire as the survivor of the cheerleader massacre in Odessa, Texas ("Homecoming"), and ultimately becomes friends with her, which makes Claire's roommate Annie jealous. After Annie's death, Gretchen suggests using the "jump, push or fall" theory. Claire ends up testing Gretchen's theory by throwing herself out of the window, and thinks Annie committed suicide (but in "Hysterical Blindness" it is revealed that Becky actually killed Annie on orders from Samuel). Gretchen witnesses Claire's regeneration. When Noah invites them out to lunch, Gretchen immediately agrees. Gretchen brings up the subject of a girl who cannot feel pain, which makes Noah understand she knows Claire's secret. Claire stops Noah from erasing Gretchen's memory, and finally chooses to trust Gretchen, telling her the truth and letting her watch her heal. They become roommates. Claire grows suspicious at the close attention Gretchen begins paying to her, but Gretchen confesses to having a crush on Claire and kisses her. During their Sorority initiation, Claire and Gretchen discuss their relationship, and their bond grows. Becky makes two attempts on Gretchen's life, but she is saved by Claire. In "Shadowboxing", Gretchen fears that Becky will come after her again. Despite Claire's reassurances, Gretchen books her flight home. Claire convinces the Haitian to follow Gretchen to protect her. Gretchen returns in "Thanksgiving", apparently on an invitation from Noah Bennet, and reconnects with Claire. After the Thanksgiving feast at Noah's apartment, she reluctantly joins Claire on her journey of self-discovery, following the compass' direction. Upon Claire's return to college, she and Gretchen become closer together to contradict Sylar's prediction of her ending up alone like him. She is shown in "The Wall" in one of Noah Bennet's recent memories, where a panicked Noah is shown confronting Gretchen in the dorm about Claire's location and intentions.
Lauren Gilmore, portrayed by Elisabeth Röhm, is a CIA agent who previously worked as Noah Bennet's closest co-worker. She is introduced in "Once Upon a Time in Texas" working with Noah at Primatech Paper as the events of Volume One "Genesis" unfold, more as a confidant outside of the home when Noah cannot tell his family about what his job really entails. Noah and Lauren share a kiss at Lauren's motel room while wrapped in a romantic moment; however Noah stops the kiss, feeling that he is cheating on Sandra, and he and Lauren apologize for letting it get out of hand. After this, she gets the Haitian to mind-wipe any memory of her crush on Noah, so they could work together without any concern, and then gives a pre-written note to Noah to let him know this.
They run into each other at a grocery store in "Thanksgiving", where Noah jokingly admits to "stalking" Lauren, and Lauren advises Noah to pick up a pre-cooked turkey rather than a frozen one. Lauren helps prepare the Thanksgiving feast at Noah's apartment, where she meets his daughter Claire, who along with Sandra believes Lauren to be Noah's date for the evening. She is clearly aware of Claire's ability as she is not surprised to see her wound healing. Before leaving, Lauren asks Noah to go out and watch a movie some day. In "The Fifth Stage", Lauren appears at Noah's apartment ready to go out in their date, but Noah noticed Claire took the compass and must be heading to the "Sullivan Bros. Carnival", so Lauren decides to help him using her CIA contacts. Later that night, Eli shows up at the place looking for the Primatech files, surrounding Lauren and Noah with clones; both attack the clones and hide in the bathroom to arm themselves. Once out again, they notice Eli and clones are gone, and they took the files with them. Lauren takes part in the mission to bring down Samuel Sullivan; in "The Wall" she is wounded with a gunshot to the shoulder and calls Tracy Strauss for help. After Samuel's arrest in "Brave New World" she is present with Noah as they watch Claire show her powers to the world.
Vanessa Wheeler, portrayed by Kate Vernon, is a cellist living in LA and old flame of Samuel Sullivan, who constantly draws her picture using his ability. Although mentioned before, she is first seen in the episode "Close to You", when Noah Bennet and Matt Parkman track her down and telepathically convince her to talk about Samuel. According to Vanessa, Samuel is obsessed with her and has visited her many times. Using Vanessa as bait, Noah and Matt wait for Samuel, but Eli fools Noah and finally lost her. She appears in the carnival, where Samuel convinces her to stay just enough time to see her dream come true, which is shown in the next episode ("Pass/Fail") as an isolated cottage at a lake surrounded by a beautiful garden. Although beautiful, Vanessa states that's not her dream anymore because she changed since her childhood. Samuel takes this badly, sending her home and then sinking a whole city in an outraged fury.

Bartell, portrayed by Luke Massy, was the leader of Knox's Los Angeles gang and the main antagonist of the Webseries: Hard Knox.
In Part 1, Matt Parkman tries to convince Knox to leave the gang Bartell is running. They part ways, and later the gang are planning a job and selecting guns. When Knox mentions he wants to "sit this one out", Bartell does not comply. Bartell does a "confidence check" on each member (by holding a gun to their throats), except Knox, who begins sensing their fear, which allows the surprised Knox to effectively bend a steel crowbar into a pretzel. When no other gang member asks to skip out on the heist, Knox reluctantly agrees to participate.
In Part 3, Bartell confronts Knox about talking to a cop. Bartell begins punching him, and then threatens him with a gun. He then prepares to beat Knox up with a baseball bat, but Knox, empowered by the fear of the other gang members present, breaks the bat in half. Knox proceeds to throw Bartell around the room, before punching a hole through his chest; killing him. One of the gang members, in shock, tells him that he killed Bartell, with Knox answering that he is "the main man" now.
In Part 4, When Matt asks what happened to Bartell, Knox merely replies that he heard he "got eaten by a shark". This may imply that they threw Bartell's remains in the ocean.
The Constrictor, portrayed by Mark Steger, served as the main antagonist of The Webseries: Going Postal, and has the power of constriction. He is sent with Howard to capture Echo DeMille. After their first attempt fails, leaving Howard dying on the ground and bleeding from his ears, the Constrictor finishes Howard off and goes after Echo himself. However, he is killed by Echo after using his ability on Echo's girlfriend in an attempt to force him to surrender.
David Sullivan, portrayed by Brian T. Skala, is a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps recruited by Pinehearst as part of their super soldier program. The goal of the program is to inject the marines with an experimental serum to aid in the apprehension of people with special abilities by granting them abilities themselves. He is shown working at a Pinehearst facility alongside Pvt. Rachel Mills and Ryan Hanover. During the explosive disaster there, he is severely injured by falling debris. In an attempt to save him, Rachel injects him with a vial of the serum. The serum augments his strength and speed, makes his eyes glow red-orange, and also causes him to behave in a violent, animalistic fashion. After attacking and killing Ryan, he also turns on Rachel. However, she stabs him to death with a pair of scissors.
Edward, portrayed by Jose Yenque, is the father of Santiago and the husband of Iris, and is a former agent of the Company. He has the abilities of both accelerated probability - allowing him to slow time, determine which action to take, and do so at a superhuman speed - and electricity manipulation. With his family threatened, he was forced to work as an assassin for the Company, but eventually faked his death to leave that life. Upon learning that the Company is going after his family, he returns and attempts to kill the character listed in the credits as Serious Looking Woman (S.L.W.) by electrocution.
Elisa, portrayed by Lina Esco, is a Company agent with the ability to turn her body into water. She is partnered with S.L.W., and the duo is assigned to capture Santiago and convince him to be an agent. However, Elisa develops feelings for him, and releases him so that he will not end up like her.
Iris, portrayed by Norma Maldonado, is the wife of Edward and mother of Santiago. She has the ability of pyrokinesis.
Leona Mills is the long-lost mother of Rachel Mills. Leona is a childhood friend of Angela Petrelli (affectionately referring to her as "Angie"). Leona is also an evolved human with the ability to absorb life-force from both living and in-animate objects (such as the ground around her, or living people); with such a degree of control Leona can age herself to make herself look extremely old or relatively young at will. Initially she was unable to accept her ability when it first manifested and faked her death; with Angela the only person, who she confided in, knowing the truth; leaving Rachel to believe her mother had truly committed suicide. In truth, Leona, with Angela's help, eventually accepted her ability and, while secretly hiding from her daughter, nevertheless retained contact with Angela (such as when Rachel was imprisoned by Angela following the fall of Pinehearst; as part of Angela's efforts to get Rachel to accept her own ability when it first developed). In this time, Leona eventually accepted her power; but still had a fatalistic view toward it and herself. Leona, going under the alias of "Linda Niles", became one of the members of "LAWR"; and is leader of "Ellen" - its fugitive smuggling ring operating to hide evolved humans from being hunted and imprisoned by the Department of Homeland Security. After a pitched battle in which "Ellen" is effectively shut-down and "LAWR" crippled, Rachel, initially imprisoned, is forcibly sent on a mission to kill Leona - as Danko states that, due to Leona's position as head of the smuggling ring, she is one of the greatest dangers to the United States - or Anna Korolenko, another prisoner and friend to Rachel, would be executed. Initially, Rachel was unaware of who Leona was but, even when Leona used her ability to age herself and make her look un-recognizably old, Rachel recognized how Leona was talking and acting around her and, despite Leona's insistence to kill her (having been informed by Angela's precognitive dreams, and, also having lost hope in the cause to protect evolved humans), Rachel refused to kill her mother. It was here Leona commenced her second faked death, with the aid of one of the circus performers, which convinced all present she had truly killed herself. Pretending to be dead for the duration of Rachel and Janey Pierce's fight, Leona slipped away and vanished. Some time later, Leona reconnects with Angela, and is then met by Micah Sanders a.k.a. Rebel in person; who summons the rest of LAWR - including Rachel. Mother and daughter finally reunited. In the months that followed, Leona and Rachel moved together to Connecticut.
The Serious looking woman, portrayed by Andrea Thompson, served as the main antagonist of The Webseries: Destiny.
In Part 1, A serious looking woman watches from a distance in a Lima, Peru park, as Santiago approaches and makes first contact with Elisa. After Santiago leaves her to go play on the soccer field, the woman meets up with Elisa by the park fountain. Hearing from Elisa that he is ready, the woman tells Elisa to get close to him, but to be careful. She then stays watching, and is not shocked when Elisa suddenly dissolves into a puddle of water.
In Part 2, After Elisa stops Santiago by surprising him, the serious looking woman zaps him with a taser.
In Part 3, Inside a secure warehouse, the serious looking woman talks with Elisa as Santiago sits asleep on a chair in the middle of the room. The woman question's Elisa's loyalty and reminds her to follow protocol. Later, she assists Elisa in explaining Santiago's ability to him, informing him that there are others out there like him, and that they want him to be a part of something much larger than himself. The serious looking woman then explains that Santiago inherited his ability from his father, and that he also worked for them. Next, she pulls out a projector and shows Santiago a couple of targets they want him to kill, and explains that his father was very good at getting his mark. When Santiago refuses, she pulls out a gun and shoots at him after threatening to do so, but Santiago uses his ability to dodge and turn her own gun on her. The woman then convinces Santiago he cannot refuse to work for them by showing him a video of his mother and explaining that his mother will get killed if he does not accept to do so.
In Part 4, In the secure warehouse where Santiago had been brought, the serious looking woman orders three gunmen with laser-guided automatic rifles to fire at Elisa and Santiago. When they escape the gunfire, she uses her cell phone to call someone. Later, the serious looking woman is on a walkway outside the church in Lima. She takes a cell phone call from a hitman and learns the target is approaching. Next, the woman tells the hitman that everyone involved must be eliminated. Then, a blur sneaks up quickly behind the woman. The serious looking woman turns and spots Edward, Santiago's father, standing in front of her. She tries to explain her position to Edward, but she cannot stop his blaming of her for involving his family and she gets zapped by him. The serious looking woman collapses onto the ground in a pile of smoke and dust as Edward turns and walks away. While on the ground, the charges on the woman's body gradually dissipate into the ground and the key she has been holding in her right hand. The woman's eyes then reopen and she closes her hand tightly around that key.
Santiago, portrayed by Roberto Urbina, is a posthuman living in Peru with the ability of accelerated probability, which allows him to slow down time, analyze which action to take, and then do so at a superhuman speed. He believed for years that his father was dead, but finds out the truth after being captured by S.L.W. and Elisa that his father was an assassin for the Company. He refuses to follow in his father's footsteps, and eventually escapes with Elisa, to whom he is mutually attracted.

Julien Dumont was an agent of the company who was able to duplicate himself, supposedly monitoring a bag and tag mission of several of his duplicates who had gone rogue in Antarctica, Australia and the Congo (though a holding room filled with more indicates that there were even more). While the duplicates in Antarctica and Australia are captured, the third jumps from a cliff and dies. When his partner and girlfriend, Sabine Hazel, reports back, Julien says he can still sense the third one alive, making her suspicious.
Following a tip from someone known only as Evs Dropper, Sabine realizes that the Julien she knows is really another duplicate, and demands to know what's happened to the real Julien. The duplicate claims that she's never met the real Julien, it's been him all along. Infuriated, she kills the duplicate and takes his keycard, using to access a Company holding cell where she finds the original Julien, kept in a coma and hooked up to machinery that activates his cloning powers involuntarily. The Company had been using him as an agent factory for years, producing an endless supply of clones to recruit while keeping the original alive and protected, as it is believed that if he dies, all his clones would die as well. Sabine proceeds to disconnect and extract Julien, even understanding he's not the Julien she loved, and the two flee from the Company. They are rescued by another Julien, who takes them to a safe house where Sabine finally meets Evs Dropper in person.
She is told by Evs (Connie Logan) that they were married and that Penny is their daughter. Gael asked for Julien to be tested but tells her he was killed two years later. At the end of the battle, Bianca shoots Julien to kill the oncoming clones.
Donna Dunlap was merely an everyday dental receptionist who happened to have telescopic, microscopic, and nocturnal vision. She went on a date with a disguised Eric Thompson Jr. After receiving a mysterious warning from someone known as Evs Dropper, she left and stayed at her apartment. She later found out she was being watched by Thompson and Elle Bishop. As she tried to escape, she was stunned by Elle and taken into captivity. She is taken to the Company infirmary where she recovers next to Noah Bennet. Bob sees her exposure to Bennett as a risk and orders her memory of that day erased with hopes of later convincing her to help The Company. Evs Dropper reveals the erased events to her as proof of what was done and convinces her to fight against the Company. She is trained by Felicia Brooks and sees a picture of her death painted by Isaac Mendez. She becomes suspicious of Evs and renounces her allegiance, uncovering the truth of Cushing's murder in the process. She and Eric capture a rogue Julien clone and soon after try to stop an escaping Sabine and Julien. She and Eric are later dispatched to recapture Brenden Lewis, but both are knocked out and the support must capture him. She is interrogated by Gael later on, who thinks she is still working with Evs so she escapes with Eric (with Bianca's help) to a hotel where she is incapacitated and replaced by Penny Logan. She is captured by Connie, who nails her feet to a board and binds and gags her to a chair strapped with enough explosives to destroy a metal bridge. Eric tries to save her, but she pushes him over and falls into the painting's position as the bomb detonates.
Sabine Hazel is a medical professional (specifically a biologist) in the employ of the Company who was selected by Bob Bishop to become an agent and partner of whom she believed was the real (or "Root") Julien Dumont. Initially only together to protect him, eventually Sabine succumbed to her desires and became his lover. Secretly, Sabine had been contacted by the mysterious Evs Dropper, who claimed Dumont was an imposter. Sabine, however, did not believe the warning.
After a bag and tag mission of several rogue Dumont duplicates, Sabine goes after the one in the Congo alone, and claims he escaped. In actuality, the third clone jumped from a cliff and died. When Sabine reports back, Dumont claims he can still sense the third one alive. Suspicious, Sabine is able to lure Dumont out into the forest, where she forces him at gunpoint to confess that, not only is he really another duplicate, but that Sabine has never met the real Dumont. Upon demanding to learn what has happened to the real Dumont, an infuriated Sabine kills the Dumont clone, and takes his keycard, using it to access the detention facility at Primatech Research. Sabine finds the original Dumont, kept in an induced coma and hooked up to machinery that activates his cloning powers against his will. The Company had been using him as an agent factory for years, producing an endless supply of clones to recruit while keeping the original alive and protected, as it is believed that if he dies, all his clones would die as well. Sabine proceeds to disconnect and extract Dumont, even understanding that he's not the Dumont she loved, and the two flee from the Company.
The two are then rescued by another Dumont clone, and Sabine is taken to a safe house where Sabine meets Evs Dropper, who is revealed to be the original Dumont's wife, Connie Logan. Sabine is told by Connie of how Dumont submitted himself for testing, only for the Company to fake his death. Sabine agrees to aid Connie's plan to destroy the Company. Soon afterwards, Sabine keeps the original Dumont safe as a pitched battle ensues, where Connie, Penny and many clones are killed in battle with the Kill Squad. After the dying Connie tells Sabine to escape with Dumont, the two are captured by Gael Cruz and Bianca Karina. Initially, Sabine assumes they intend to keep harvesting Dumont, but is instead shocked when Bianca kills Dumont to wipe out the clone army. Instead, "The Package" they have been seeking is Sabine herself, as they know (before Sabine herself) that she is pregnant with Dumont's clones' son, who will be an evolved human. Sabine is then returned to Primatech and incarcerated.
It is revealed in "Rebellion, Part 5: Wanted", in a conversation between Micah Sanders and Eric Thompson Jr. that her baby is already been born, and is considered to be as dangerous as his posthuman father, Julien Dumont, although is never revealed if he has any ability.
In the iStory Faction Zero, Sabine and her child are seen living at the Sullivan Bros. Carnivale along with main characters of the fifth volume and other characters that only appear in iStories.
Sparrow Redhouse was on Chandra's list, as well as the Gabriel Gray's list. In 2011, in the possible future in which the destruction of New York City in 2006 is not stopped, Future Hiro rescues Sparrow from police. When he scolds her for not obeying her curfew, Sparrow criticizes the government. The graphic novels reveal that she was the prisoner who was sucked out of Flight 195 in "A Clear and Present Danger", and survived by breaking her fall using her power of terrakinesis. As she flees the crash site, she meets Micah Sanders, and later begins helping him protect other posthumans from Building 26. Although she initially states her power is useless at cities due to the lack of soil, she is seen using great amounts of earth to scape tall buildings, to summon powerful ground-make fists and even producing earthquakes at places with concrete, revealing the development of her power after joining 'Rebel'.
She is later mentioned by West Rosen in the graphic novel "Scenic Route", having gone on the run with Alex to escape Danko's agents, but later getting separated from him. After derailing a prison train, she and the rest of the 'Rebel' team follow the direction Molly gave to find Monica in Washington, D.C., but at the cost of losing Micah to Sylar. In "Ice Queen, Part 1", Micah states that he has already reunited with Monica and the "Rebellion" team before the beginning of Redemption.
Linda Tavara, originally seen on Chandra Suresh's list of posthumans, had the ability to see and absorb the auras of other people by touching them. Her hand glowed with a blue light when she did this. If she absorbed the life force of another posthuman, she also gained their power. Linda first discovered her ability in her teens, during the 1960s. It is implied that her parents knew of it, too, and fearfully took measures to keep her isolated. Despite this, Linda was enthralled by her power, and went out into the city to fully experience it. After some time, she spotted Ida Walker, an elderly woman whose aura glowed brighter than most people's. Though she seemed to understand right and wrong, she continually felt to urge to steal life forces. Thus, she absorbed Walker's aura and obtained the woman's ability to see the dead.
In her adulthood, she worked as a private investigator and possibly bounty hunter. However, she would routinely continue stealing the life forces of powered people, even if she was assigned to bring them to authorities. This led to suspicions from others, and these misgivings forced her employer to fire her. Afterward, she was approached by a mysterious woman who hired her to locate certain individuals for her, all implied to have powers. After turning in two such people, Linda was tasked to find a man named Jason Welkes, but she instead absorbed his life force and disposed of the body. When asked, she repeated her previous habit of claiming she was unable to find the person. This led the informant to question her competence, and threaten to take away her next assignment. In response, Linda absorbed the informant's life force, and stole a notepad regarding the next targets, which included Daniel Linderman and Arthur Petrelli. Linda introduced herself to Linderman at a gas station, and he traveled with her while she gained his trust. After Linderman demonstrated to her his ability to heal others, Linda attempted to absorb his power. However, Linderman killed her with a stick before she successfully did so.
- Abigail is a friend of Claude's with the power of force field generation. She has a confrontation with Elle, who was seeking Claude's help with her out-of-control electrical powers, after she accidentally hurt her fiancé, Lee, prompting Elle's departure from England. In Fugitives graphic novels, her photograph, along with Lee's, can be seen in the fugitives board at Building 26. Later, when she, Lee, and Claude are attacked by Danko's agents, she is rescued by Sparrow Redhouse and West Rosen, and then she became part of the 'Rebel' force. After contacting Molly, they found sedated fugitives being transported in a train, finding Claude and Lee among them. Then, together with Lee, she and the 'Rebel' team follow the direction Molly gave to find Monica in Washington, D.C., but at the cost of losing Micah to Sylar. In "Ice Queen, Part 1", Micah states that he has already reunited with Monica and the "Rebellion" team before the beginning of Redemption.
- Anya - when Claude meets his first partner Haram he also learns about Rollo Fusor, a criminal whom the Company believes is killing people by dehydrating them. Haram considers Fusor his first failed case, and bears a solid hate against him. In 1990 the Company sends Claude and Haram to France to catch Rollo. However, when they are to arrest him, Rollo himself is dehydrated, and the real criminal is revealed to be his partner, Anya.[51] While Haram and Claude are to arrest the unnamed woman, she attacks Haram, nearly killing him. Claude manages to stop her, and she is killed by Haram.
- Felicia Brooks is a Company agent who was trained by Noah Bennet. She describes her power as a "disintegration touch". She vigorously trains Donna Dunlap to be an agent herself, and is not seen with a partner. She rises up against Gael when she overhears him talking about the posthuman agents, and fights Penny Logan until Eric Thompson knocks everyone out with tear gas. She comments annoyance at other agents who blast discussions without questioning their importance first, and is extremely angered at Connie Logan's betrayal. She, Penny, and Connie had trained together, and it was implied that they were friends. She is among those sent to deal with Evs Dropper, and is killed in the process.
- Au Co was a Vietnamese girl killed by Arthur Petrelli on a mission during the Vietnam War. Arthur Petrelli and Daniel Linderman were on a mission to locate an airplane. They found it too late and there were no survivors, but "Dallas" decided to carry on with the airplane's mission to destroy Au Co. They presumed that it was a nearby farming village, but later realized that it was a young girl with the ability to make plants grow at a rapid rate. She was shot and killed by Arthur despite Daniel's efforts to stop him. This event, and those leading up to it, eventually resulted in a close bond between Linderman and Petrelli.
- Leonard Cushing is an agent of the Company who can secrete a highly potent corrosive from his hands. Cushing is Eric Thompson's partner until one mission where they are trying to find Evs Dropper. Thompson finds Cushing in a room with a fellow agent's dead, acid-burnt body. Thompson believes that Cushing is responsible. However, when Cushing is about to reveal something about Evs Dropper, Devin Patterson comes in and shoots him. With his final breath, he warns Thompson that Evs Dropper is always watching.
- Richard Drucker was an evolved human recorded by the Company. He is described in Evolutions as having hatred towards the founding members of the Company. He also attended college with Charles Deveaux, and they were friends before the start of the Company. They were both associated with an unidentified group, described as "like-minded individuals", but Drucker left the group in 1977 and moved to Bangalore. His physical body was destroyed in Bangalore in a plane crash. He is a distant relative of Hana Gitelman. The Company has extensive information on Drucker in its files.[52][53] He continued to exist within computers, like Hana, until they were both deleted while trapped in the Company's mainframe.
- Donald Essex is a prison guard who is left the sole survivor of a bus crash, unharmed due to his power to transform his body into water. While under observation at a hospital, he is approached by Nathan Petrelli, who offers him a position in his government task force. After turning him down, Donald returns home and is attacked by Nathan's agents, who spray him with a gas that makes him dissolve into a puddle. His current status remains unknown.
- Evan - during the Revolutionary War, Adam Monroe, working as a mercenary for the British Empire, learned of a man who destroyed an entire town single-handedly, and claimed he could not be killed. Adam initially assumed the man had the same regenerative ability as he did, but upon meeting this man, Evan, Adam killed him on the spot. His crew was immediately attacked by an unseen army, and Adam soon found himself fighting another Evan... and another, and another. It turned out Evan had the ability to duplicate himself, effectively making him a one-man army. Adam attempted to track down and kill the original Evan, believing this would stop all the duplicates; however, this proved futile when he found that the duplicates can also duplicate themselves, and Adam was hopelessly outmatched.
- Manuel Garcia had connections to Evs Dropper, and with her help, he managed to evade the Company by teleporting. He was eventually captured by Connie and Penn Logan while acting as agents and not as Evs Dropper. They managed to get close enough to him by Penny impersonating his girlfriend with Connie's ability. His name was revealed on the Assignment Tracker's interactive map. He was recruited into the Company after his capture and was killed while fighting Evs Dropper.
- Howard Grigsby is a man with the ability to emit blinding amounts of light. He thinks he is the light of God, and is the reason that Noah Bennet had to get his famed glasses. After he was captured, he was sent to a Level 5 detention cell. However, he later escapes after Elle Bishop accidentally releases all the Level 5 prisoners.[54]
- Guillame is the Haitian's father and a leader in their village in Haiti. He is known as the Houngan, the Priest, and his power to manipulate people's emotions has been able to protect his village from attack. He dies when jumping off a mountain.
- Paul Harding was listed on the assignment tracker map as a posthuman with the ability to manipulate the hair of his entire body. Before the map was created, it was mentioned that he and his partner helped Bianca and Gael bring the German to Primatech Research. He left a discussion on Evs Dropper's blog about mysterious blue water, traveled with his partner, Ahlrich Dekker, to Calgary to capture an unidentified posthuman and angrily commented on being ordered back from the battle with Connie Logan by Bob Bishop while Dekker was sent on his own. He eventually arrived by himself and was killed in the subsequent battle.
- Howie Kaplan, aka Slick by DHS agents, is an elusive fugitive with the ability to secrete an oily liquid from his hands, seen in "Hang By A Thread". While in the run from Danko's agents, Rachel Mills hunts him down through building's rooftops, she slips due to the oil he left and falls saving herself by teleporting in front of Slick, just in time to stop him. Accidentally, he falls too, and Rachel finally saves him by teleporting both of them to a street away from other agents. She lets Howie go after Rebel points out she was acting like Angela Petrelli. In iStories, he is shown to be part of LAWR, being him who came up with the name, and is stated that the oil he secretes is flammable.
- Anna Korolenko is a teenage girl from Russia with the power to shut down people's higher brain functions. After she had used her power on her family, she had sworn never to use it again. However, she was kidnapped by Ricardo "Red Eye" Silva, who believed that her ability could be used in conjunction with his own as a weapon. After a confrontation with the Kill Squad in which they are forced to use their powers to make them kill one another, Anna flees and starts a new life in Ithaca, New York. She later meets Claire Bennet at college, when Ricardo returns and uses his power to make two security guards attack Claire, believing her to be a Primatech agent. Anna stuns the guards with her power, and Claire helps her realize that Ricardo has come to care about her. She decides to hear him out over dinner. Later, she begins working with "Rebel" to protect other posthumans, as part of a team known as the LAWR. She claims the A stands for Anna.
- Brendan Lewis was captured by the Company, and it was suspected that his ability to control plants would mutate. When it does, granting him further plant-like abilities such as rapid cellular regeneration and UV energy absorption, he escapes and knocks a partnership unconscious and kills most of a support team before being recaptured. He is sent to a crater the size of a village in Guyana caused by a local manifesting his ability. Paulette Hawkins augments his power to cover the crater with forestry, and he dies in the process.
- Connie Logan is an agent of the Company, referred to as Face by Bob Bishop, who was considered an invaluable asset for her ability to mold and reshape other people's faces as if they were made of clay, and to change their hair and eye colors as well as their vocal cords to precisely mimic the appearance and voice of another person, creating perfect disguises. The effect only lasts 24 hours, and she could not change her own appearance. She often worked with her non-powered daughter, Penny Logan. The graphic novel "Into the Wild, Part 1" reveals that she is the mysterious "Evs Dropper", and is working to bring down the Company alongside an army of Julien Dumont clones. She is also married to the original Julien. She and her daughter are killed by the Kill Squad in the ensuing battle along with the rest of her forces, though the Company suffered heavy casualties.
- Penny Logan is an agent of the Company, and the daughter of Connie and the original Julien Dumont. Unlike her parents, Penny does not possess any abilities. Nevertheless, Penny dedicated herself to Company service and soon became a highly decorated field agent. Unbeknownst to most, Penny is secretly aiding her mother (who she publicly detested, but privately bonded with) to destroy the Company in revenge for taking Julien from them. Penny helps lure Eric Thompson, into an ambush, with Penny poised to kill him (as Penny thirsted for revenge towards Eric as he seduced and had sex with her solely for his pleasure, at a time when she admired him). Eric is saved at the last moment, as the Kill Squad arrives and opens fire. One of their bullets hits Penny in the face, and blowing her head apart.
- Joe Macon appears in the graphic novel "Out of Town...On Business", as an insurance agent for Steele Family Safe Insurance. Possessing the ability of thoughtography, he was able to project his handwriting onto surfaces, filling out business forms instantaneously. Sylar visits the insurance company after hours in search of information concerning the location of his adoptive father, Martin Gray. When Macon refuses to give Sylar the information, Sylar kills him and takes his ability. Noah Bennet later discovers the body in Macon's office after receiving reports of strange, unexplained murders.
- Matt Neuenberg was a high school student who had difficulty fitting in and making friends, feeling that people are only ever interested in him for his ability to quickly memorize and recall vast amounts of information with great accuracy. After demonstrating his ability at a talent show, he encountered Elle and was taken to the Company, where he was subjected to painful experiments. Later, Elle told him that this was for his own protection, and that he and she want the same things. Matt was eventually used by the Company to guard their computer from hackers. Through his efforts, an attempt to hack the Company computer by Hana Gitelman and Richard Drucker is stopped by downloading the information to his head before destroying the computer. However, he died when the Company downloaded the information from him.
- The Russian was a wanted con artist, thief, and killer. Originally thought to be a family of men of different ages, a confrontation with Noah Bennet, Claude Rains, and Ivan Spektor in December 1998 revealed him as an "age shifter", able to alter his own biological age at will.
- Ricardo Silva, a.k.a. "Red Eye", was a former biochemist, researcher, and part-time professor with the ability to induce a "primal rage" in others. Seeking revenge against Primatech and the Kill Squad, he kidnaps a young girl named Anna Korolenko, hoping to use her ability in conjunction with his own as a weapon. Over time, however, he comes to care for Anna as more than a hostage. As the two are caught by the Kill Squad, they use their powers together to turn them into raging, mindless beasts who proceed to kill each other. Horrified at what they have done, Anna flees. Weeks later, Ricardo finds Anna talking to Claire Bennet, whom he mistakes for a Primatech agent. He uses his power to make two security guards attack Claire, forcing Anna to stun them with her power. Claire sees that Ricardo truly does care for Anna and wants only to protect her, and convinces her to hear him out over dinner.
- Traveler answers a call from Hana Gitelman and is asked to deliver a message to Richard Drucker in Bhutan. He enters the country and easily adapts to his surroundings thanks to his command of languages. While traveling on foot, he falls down an incline and injures himself. He shouts for help before passing out. When Traveler awakens he is in a Bhutanese temple, being tended to by Buddhist monks. A man who appears to be Drucker asks for his message. Traveler informs him that his message is from Hana Gitelman, to whom Drucker is related.
- Ida May Walker was an elderly woman living in a retirement home in 1967. As stated in "Moonlight Serenade", she had the power of mediumship, seen when Linda Tavara killed her absorbing her ability as well. She described it as seen angels all the time due to the blue light-shape spirits exhibit. According to Evsdropr, she is the mother of James Walker and Molly's grandmother.
