The Samanid Empire (Persian: سامانیان, Sāmāniyān), also known as the Samanid dynasty, Samanid Emirate, or simply Samanids, was a Sunni Iranian empire, ruling from 819 to 999. The empire was mostly centered in Khorasan and Transoxiana during its existence, but at its greatest extent, the empire encompassed all of today's Afghanistan, and large parts of Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
The Samanid state was founded by four brothers; Nuh, Ahmad, Yahya, and Ilyas—each of them ruled their own territory under Abbasid suzerainty. In 892, Isma'il ibn Ahmad (892–907) united the Samanid state under one ruler, thus effectively putting an end to the feudal system used by the Samanids. It was also under him that the Samanids became independent of Abbasid authority.
The Samanid Empire is part of the so-called Iranian Intermezzo, which saw the creation of a Persianate Muslim culture and identity that brought Iranian speech and traditions into the fold of the Islamic world. This would lead to the formation of the Turko-Persian high culture that would characterise Greater Iran for a thousand years.

Tajikistan’s national currency is called Somoni. The word is derived from the name of the tenth century ruler of the Samanid Empire, Ismail Samani. As Press TV’s Hooman Abedi reports from Dushanbe, Tajiks see their national currency as a symbol of honor because it reminds them of their history and culture. Dr. Sussan Babaie from the Courtauld Institute is an expert in Islamic architecture. She turns the spotlight on two significant monuments of the early medieval period in the Islamic world: the 10th century royal mausoleaum of the Samanid dynasty in Bukhara, present-day Uzbekistan and the 11th to 12th century developments in the great congregational mosque of Isfahan, in central Iran, built under the patronage of the Seljuq dynasty.
Hakīm Abu'l-Qāsim Ferdowsī Tūsī (Persian: حکیم ابوالقاسم فردوسی توسی) known as Ferdowsi (فردوسی; also spelled as Firdausi; 940--1020 CE) was a highly revered Persian poet. He was the author of the Shahnameh, the national epic of Iran and related societies. The Shahnameh was originally composed by Ferdowsi for the princes of the Samanid dynasty, who were responsible for a revival of Persian cultural traditions after the Arab invasion of the seventh century. The Shahnameh chronicles the legendary history of the pre-Islamic kings of Iran fromKeyumars to Yazdegerd III. Ferdowsi continued work on the poem after the Samanids were conquered by the Ghaznavids. The new ruler Mahmud of Ghazni, a Turk, may have lacked the interest in Ferdowsi's work shown by the Samanids, resulting in him losing fav...

His reign saw the emergence of the Samanids as a powerful force. The other building Genghis Khan left untouched is the Ismail Samani mausoleum. The Ismail Samani Mausoleum was built in the 10th century to house its the tombs of Ismail Samani, founder of the Samanid Dynasty, as well as his father and grandson. This mausoleum, one of the most important examples of Central Asian architecture, For many years, the lower part of the mausoleum remained under a thick layer of sediment. The external composition of the mausoleum seems rather simple, a hemisphere atop a cube. However, the intricate brickwork of the walls gives the building a delicate lightness. In reality, the walls are so thick and well-built that the mausoleum has never needed significant repair in the 1100 years it has stood here. http://www.shadpurshareef.com http://www.salyalshareef.com...
