In which John Green teaches you about World War II, aka The Great Patriotic War, aka The Big One. So how did this war happen? And what does it mean? We've all learned the facts about World War II many times over, thanks to repeated classroom coverage, the History channel, and your grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather) showing you that Nazi bayonet he used to keep in his sock drawer and telling you a bunch of age-inappropriate stories about his harrowing war experiences. So, why did the Axis powers think forceful expansion was a good idea? (they were hungry). So why did this thing shake out in favor of the Allies? HInt: it has to do with the fact that it was a world war. Germany and Japan made some pretty serious strategic errors, such as invading Russia and attacking the United States, and those errors meant that pretty much the whole world was against them. So, find out how this worldwide alliance came together to stop the Axis expansion. All this, plus Canada finally gets the respectful treatment it deserves. Oh, and a warning: there are a few graphic images in this episode. Sensitive viewers may want to use caution, especially around the 9:15 mark.

(Normandy Surviving D-Day Documentary)
Five years into World War II, the future of Europe hangs in the balance, as 34,000 US soldiers embark on a mission to launch the biggest attack ever from sea. This fascinating documentary, interviews the soldiers who fought at Omaha, recalling their experiences as they approached the shore line under intense cross fire. Using CGI graphics to recreate and illustrate what happened on D Day, the programme also explores the weaponry used in the first wave of the invasion.Omaha Beach is the code name for one of the five sectors of the Allied invasion of German-occupied France in the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944, during World War II. The beach is located on the coast of Normandy, France, facing the English Channel, and is 5 miles (8 km) long, from east of Sainte-Honorine-des-Pertes to west of Vierville-sur-Mer on the right bank of the Douve River estuary. Landings here were necessary in order to link up the British landings to the east at Gold Beach with the American landing to the west at Utah Beach, thus providing a continuous lodgement on the Normandy coast of the Bay of the Seine. Taking Omaha was to be the responsibility of United States Army troops, with sea transport and naval artillery support provided by the U.S. Navy
and elements of the British Royal Navy.

In which John Green teaches you about World War II, and some of the causes behind the war. In a lot of ways, WWII was about resources, and especially about food. The expansionist aggression of both Germany and Japan were in a lot of ways about resources. There were other reasons, to be sure, but the idea that the Axis needed more food can't be ignored.

Lyrics:
I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time
Know there was something that, meant something that I left behind
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets
Leave something to remember, so they won't forget
I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I've done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know

This educational history documentary covers the European Theatre of World War II, also known as the European War, a huge area of heavy fighting across Europe, from Germany's and the Soviet Union's joint invasion of Poland in September 1939 until the end of the war with the Soviet Union conquering much of Europe along with the German unconditional surrender on May 8, 1945 (Victory in Europe Day). The Allied forces fought the Axis powers on two major fronts (the Eastern Front and Western Front) as well as in the adjoining Mediterranean and Middle East Theatre.
Blitzkrieg is a method of warfare, whereby an attacking force spearheaded by a dense concentration of armored and motorized or mechanized infantry formations with close air support, breaks through the opponent's line of defense by short, fast, powerful attacks and then dislocates the defenders, using speed and surprise to encircle them. Through the employment of combined arms in maneuver warfare, blitzkrieg attempts to unbalance the enemy by making it difficult for it to respond to the continuously changing front and defeating it in a decisive Vernichtungsschlacht ("battle of annihilation").

He explains how the fall of The Berlin Wall was nothing more than a false flag and how this ties into the Hegelian Dialectic, Victoria Nuland’s use of profanity towards the European Union, Henry Kissinger, The Bilderberg Group, Barak Obama, The Council on Foreign Relations, ISIS, The War on Terror, Svoboda, and how all right wing racist movements are run by the CIA, our march towards World War 3 and when we can expect the WAR to start, how to prepare, what to do, and the implications towards yourself and your children. June 6 marks the anniversary of D-Day. Mr. Sergio Moirano, a United States veteran of World War II living in Belgium, talks about his experience before and during the allied landing on the beaches of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 in this interview taped by the U.S. Embassy to Belgium in 2010 (http://belgium.usembassy.gov).
The following are excerpts from President Obama's speech at the D-Day 65th Anniversary Ceremony:
[...] It was unknowable then, but so much of the progress that would define the 20th century, on both sides of the Atlantic, came down to the battle for a slice of beach only six miles long and two miles wide. More particularly, it came down to the men who landed here -- those who now rest in this place for eternity, and those who are with us here today. Perhaps more than any other reason, you, the veterans of that landing, are why we still remember what happened on D-Day. You're why we keep coming back.
For you remind us that in the end, human destiny is not determined by forces beyond our control. You remind us that our future is not shaped by mere chance or circumstance. Our history has always been the sum total of the choices made and the actions taken by each individual man and woman. It has always been up to us.
[...] Friends and veterans, we cannot forget. What we must not forget is that D-Day was a time and a place where the bravery and the selflessness of a few was able to change the course of an entire century. At an hour of maximum danger, amid the bleakest of circumstances, men who thought themselves ordinary found within themselves the ability to do something extraordinary. They fought for their moms and sweethearts back home, for the fellow warriors they came to know as brothers. And they fought out of a simple sense of duty -- a duty sustained by the same ideals for which their countrymen had once fought and bled for over two centuries.

You may ask yourself, "What makes Chicago Sci-Fi special?" I pride myself on the fact that I try to give fans videos with explanation for each segment interview, rather than just throw up the video "as is" "to be first"; I don't plaster logos all over the video to share or watermark;
I also will post more obscure interviews from Producers, Special Effects Supervisors and Costume Designers! They deserve their 15 seconds of fame as well. (And it's kinda fun to listen to them as well!)

Clement Dowler's B-17 was shot down over Avord, France on April 28, 1944. It was his thirteenth mission as a ball turret gunner with the 91st Bomb Group/324th Squadron. For the next five months, he successfully evaded German patrols and Nazi collaborators with the help of local French Resistance fighters known as le Maquis. Following his escape in September of 1944, Mr. Dowler was questioned by the U.S. Army Military Intelligence Service at Headquarters, European Theater of Operations. The resulting report was marked "SECRET" and titled Escape and Evasion Report No. 1669, Evasion in France. Only recently has this document been made available to the public in electronic format. This was the second interview recorded on January 11, 2014 for the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress. It contains Mr. Dowler's first-person account of his experiences during World War II, including the time he spent fighting alongside French Resistance units and an American OSS unit in occupied France.

O.B. Streeper served with the Army Air Corps from March 1943 to September 1945. He was shot down May 27, 1944, over southern France. He parachuted to safety, and joined the French resistance. During one of the missions that he participated in, a bag was accidentally left behind contained his name and some of his identification. After finding this bag, the Nazis were apparently convinced that Streeper was one of the key figures in the French resistance so they offered a large reward for him—large enough that it represented several years of salary to an average French citizen—so Streeper had to distance himself from some of his colleagues in the resistance for fear that someone might turn him in for the reward money.

Antony C Sutton gave an interview back in 1980 discussing his research on the funding of World War II, when American and European financiers were funding both the Nazi party and the communists.
Sutton was an economics professor at California State University, Los Angeles and a research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution from 1968 to 1973.
In 1973, Sutton published a popularized, condensed version of the three volumes called National Suicide: Military Aid to the Soviet Union and was thereby forced out of the Hoover Institution. His conclusion from his research on the issue was that the conflicts of the Cold War were "not fought to restrain communism", since the United States, through financing the Soviet Union "directly or indirectly armed both sides in at least Korea and Vietnam"; rather, these wars were organised in order "to generate multibillion-dollar armaments contracts"
For impressive evidence of Western participation in the early phase of Soviet economic growth, see Antony C. Sutton's Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development: 1917--1930, which argues that 'Soviet economic development for 1917--1930 was essentially dependent on Western technological aid' (p.283), and that 'at least 95 per cent of the industrial structure received this assistance.' (p. 348).
Sutton died June 17, 2002 at the age of 77.

He fought through Belgium, Holland and Germany. Dukes was captured Nov. 23, 1944, spending six months in Runddorf, a labor camp near the Czech border. He escaped several different times, finally making it to the Elbe River where Americans were being exchanged one-for-one for Russians.

Sam Weldon grew up in Champaign, Ill., a Midwestern college town. He was drafted and became a member of the 4th Marines Division at 18. Following a shortened training session, he and his fellow Marines were put on ships and sent to the Pacific. He was part of the second wave to land on Iwo Jima. His stories of the days and nights of battles there are amazing and touching and very human. He became a Corporal when the officers ranked above him were killed. Weldon talks about friendships made and friends lost and those who survived during the fights on Iwo Jima and afterward. His stories of being discharged and celebrating in Chicago add another picture. Looking back over it all, he can still say he would do it all again.

23. Collaboration and Resistance in World War II
European Civilization, 1648-1945 (HIST 202)
One of the principal myths concerning collaboration during World War II in France, as in other countries, is that the domestic collaborators did so despite themselves, or to prevent even greater atrocities. In fact, many French, Belgians, Hungarians, Poles, Dutch and others voluntarily and enthusiastically abetted the occupying Germans. This collaborati

The massacre in Paris changes everything. That’s how one European politician reacted to the worst violence that city has seen since World War II.
How will Europe respond? That was the big question following the terrorist attacks on November 13. The French president called the assault on Paris an “act of war”—brought on by an “army of terrorists.” He called on the EU member states to join France in the fight against ISIS.
Other leaders in Europe immediately connected the Paris attack to the ongoing refugee crisis, calling for strict border control and tougher immigration policies.
The attack in Paris on November 13 has changed Europe—and dramatically so! On today’s show, we explain where Bible prophecy says these latest events in Europe are leading.

This collaboration, inspired by anti-Semitism and xenophobia, often resulted in extremely zealous persecution of Jewish nationals, communists, and others. Along with the myth of reluctant collaboration, France has also been obliged to confront the myth of widespread resistance, promulgated in part by a victorious Charles de Gaulle. Many questions concerning collaboration and resistance still remain unresolved in formerly occupied European countries to this day.

World War II (WWII or WW2), also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945. It involved the vast majority of the world's nations—including all of the great powers—eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million people serving in military units from over 30 different countries. In a state of "total war", the major participants placed their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities at the service of the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Marked by mass deaths of civilians, including the Holocaust and the only use of nuclear weapons in warfare, it resulted in 50 million to over 75 million fatalities. These deaths make World War II by far the deadliest conflict in human history.
The Empire of Japan aimed to dominate East Asia and was already at war with the Republic of China in 1937, but the world war is generally said to have begun on 1 September, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Germany and subsequent declarations of war on Germany by France and Britain. From late 1939 to early 1941, in a series of campaigns and treaties, Germany formed the Axis alliance with Italy, conquering or subduing much of continental Europe. Following the Molotov--Ribbentrop Pact, Germany and the Soviet Union partitioned and annexed territories between themselves of their European neighbours, including Poland. The United Kingdom and the other members of the British Commonwealth were the only major Allied forces continuing the fight against the Axis, with battles taking place in North Africa as well as the long-running Battle of the Atlantic. In June 1941, the European Axis launched an invasion of the Soviet Union, giving a start to the largest land theatre of war in history, which tied down the major part of the Axis' military forces for the rest of the war. In December 1941, Japan joined the Axis, attacked the United States and European territories in the Pacific Ocean, and quickly conquered much of the Western Pacific.
The Axis advance was stopped in 1942, after Japan lost a series of naval battles and European Axis troops were defeated in North Africa and, decisively, at Stalingrad. In 1943, with a series of German defeats in Eastern Europe, the Allied invasion of Italy, and American victories in the Pacific, the Axis lost the initiative and undertook strategic retreat on all fronts. In 1944, the Western Allies invaded France, while the Soviet Union regained all of its territorial losses and invaded Germany and its allies. During 1944 and 1945 the United States defeated the Japanese Navy and captured key Western Pacific islands.
The war in Europe ended with the capture of Berlin by Soviet and Polish troops and the subsequent German unconditional surrender on 8 May 1945. Following the Potsdam Declaration by the Allies on 26 July 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima on 6 August, and Nagasaki on 9 August. With an invasion of the Japanese archipelago imminent, and the Soviet Union having declared war on Japan by invading Manchuria, Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945, ending the war in Asia and cementing the total victory of the Allies over the Axis.
World War II altered the political alignment and social structure of the world. The United Nations (UN) was established to foster international cooperation and prevent future conflicts. The great powers that were the victors of the war—the United States, the Soviet Union, China, the United Kingdom, and France—became the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. The Soviet Union and the United States emerged as rival superpowers, setting the stage for the Cold War, which lasted for the next 46 years. Meanwhile, the influence of European great powers started to decline, while the decolonisation of Asia and Africa began. Most countries whose industries had been damaged moved towards economic recovery. Political integration, especially in Europe, emerged as an effort to stabilise postwar relations and fight more effectively in the Cold War.

Former secret military force shown for first time on "THE BIG PICTURE" -- "Phantom Fighters" (TV-448) is good strong film entertainment, worthy of the attention of every thoughtful viewer. It is a documentary about the Army's Tenth Special Forces Group in Europe, until recently a secret military force, now shown for the first time on THE BIG PICTURE. The story setting is in the vicinity of Bad Tolz which lies in an alpine valley near the German Swiss border. Resourcefully put together from film made in Germany by the Army Signal Corps, "Phantom Fighters" is a movingly meaningful television documentary about American soldiers trained to organize guerrilla resistance in enemy occupied territories. In a field training exercise, the many and varied skills of the Tenth are put to the test. They include a parachute jump, a mountain climb on skis, destruction of a bridge on the River Ammer, and a race to outdistance the enemy. It's a rugged, exciting life as evidenced on film and no soldier with Tenth Special Forces would have it any other way. Every man is a volunteer qualified to carry out hazardous and adventurous assignments. In no other branch of the United States military services is the standard of physical fitness higher than in Special Forces. Among the groups at Bad Tolz, a man's hand is as deadly a weapon as a rifle or hand grenade. Credit goes to the Tenth Special Forces for having accomplished the difficult task of staging a part of their mission before the motion picture cameras. -

Created by Theodore Andrica and narrated by him, CHILDREN OF EUROPE is an emotional, and disturbing portrait of post-WWII Europe. It shows the plight of the youngest survivors of the war, including the many orphans and Jewish concentration camp victims who outlasted the conflict and now face uncertain futures. Andrica's film, which was funded by the Cleveland Press, represents a plea for support for organizations like the Red Cross which was actively working to return children to school and divert them from other enterprises -- such as hard labor. Plenty of work by children, including construction and other dangerous jobs, is shown in the course of the film, as is scavenging. Images of children playing amidst the rubble of Europe's once great cities is both heartbreaking and stirring. For Andrica (9 Aug. 1900-1 Mar. 1990), this film represented a continuation of work he began before WWII. As a writer for the Press, he chronicled the affairs of Cleveland's diverse ethnic population for 46 years. Born in Radna, Romania, Andrica emigrated to the United States in 1920 and began writing nationality news for the Canton Daily News. In 1927 the new editor of the Press, Louis B. Seltzer hired him to cover the same beat in Cleveland. With Seltzer's encouragement, Andrica literally invented the field of "ethnic journalism." Naturalized in 1928, he married Mary P. Patrilla of Cleveland the following year. In pursuit of material for his "Around the World in Cleveland" column, he conversed in 6 languages and claimed to have attended an estimated 14,000 banquets. Affectionately dubbed the "Broken-English Editor" by his colleagues, he promoted a series of All-Nations exhibitions and in 1932 sold Seltzer on the idea of sending him on annual visits to the homelands of their readers. He took thousands of messages, culled from mail-in coupons printed in the Press before his departure, from Clevelanders to their relatives in Central and Eastern Europe. Prior to the outbreak of the war he visited Nazi Germany, a trip showcased in another film (see film 3275 on Youtube). After a year at Harvard in 1943 on a Nieman Fellowship, Andrica resumed his European tours in 1945. This film comes from that immediate post-war period. He remained active throughout the Cold War and once chartered a jet liner to fly tons of clothing from Clevelanders to refugee camps in Austria following the 1956 Hungarian uprising. Retiring from the Press in 1973, Andrica edited a Romanian quarterly and authored Romanian Americans and Their Communities of Cleveland in 1977.

D-Day marked the commencement of one of the greatest common ground initiatives in world history -- the final campaign of the Allies to take Europe back during WW II. Pulitzer Prize-winner Rick Atkinson's riveting account of that bold gamble set the pace for the masterly narrative that follows. Historic events came alive with a wealth of new material and a fascinating cast of characters. Atkinson told the tale from the perspective of participants at every level, from presidents and generals to war-weary lieutenants and terrified teenage riflemen. When Germany at last surrenders, we understand anew both the devastating cost of this global conflagration and the enormous effort required to win the Allied victory.

The Culture of Drinking: Memoir of the Great Depression, World War II, Journalism Career (1994)

Pete Hamill (born June 24, 1935) is an American journalist, novelist, essayist, editor and educator. Widely traveled and having written on a broad range of topics, he is perhaps best known for his career as a New York City journalist, as "the author of columns that sought to capture the particular flavors of New York City's politics and sports and the particular pathos of its crime." Hamill was a columnist and editor for the New York Post and The New York Daily News.
The eldest of seven children of Catholic immigrants from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Pete Hamill was born in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. His father, Billy Hamill, lost a leg as the result of an injury in a semi-pro soccer game in Brooklyn. Hamill's mother, Anne Devlin, a high school graduate in Belfast, arrived in New York on the day the stock market crashed in 1929. Billy Hamill met Anne Devlin in 1933 and they married the following year. Billy Hamill had jobs as a grocery clerk, in a war plant, and later in a factory producing lighting fixtures. Anne Hamill was employed in Wanamaker's department store, and also worked as a domestic, a nurses' aide, and a cashier in the RKO movie chain.[6]
Hamill attended Holy Name of Jesus grammar school[7] and delivered the Brooklyn Daily Eagle when he was 11.[8] In 1949, Hamill attended the prestigious Regis High School in Manhattan, but left school when he was 15 to work as an apprentice sheet metal worker in the Brooklyn Navy Yard; 59 years later, in June 2010, Regis awarded him an honorary diploma.[9] Inspired especially by the work of Milton Caniff, he was set on becoming a comic book artist.[10] Hamill attended night classes at the School of Visual Arts (then called the Cartoonists and Illustrators School),[11] with the goal of becoming a painter.[12] In the fall of 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, in 1956-57, he was a student at Mexico City College on the G.I. Bill.[13] Hamill has also lived in Spain, Ireland, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rome, Los Angeles, and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
A friend of Robert F. Kennedy, Hamill helped persuade the senator to run for the United States presidency, then worked for the campaign and covered it as a journalist. He was one of four men who disarmed Sirhan Sirhan of his gun in the aftermath of the Robert F. Kennedy assassination.[14]
Hamill began to work as a reporter for the New York Post in 1960.[15] The 1962--63 New York City newspaper strike led Hamill to start writing magazine articles. By the fall of 1963 he was a correspondent for the Saturday Evening Post, stationed in Europe.[16] Hamill spent six months in Barcelona and five months in Dublin, and traveled Europe interviewing actors, movie directors, and authors, as well as ordinary citizens. In August 1964 he returned to New York, reported on the Democratic Convention in Atlantic City, and was briefly employed as a feature writer at the New York Herald Tribune. He began writing a column for the New York Post in late 1965, and by the end of that year was reporting from Vietnam.[17]
Over the course of nearly forty years Hamill worked at the Post, the New York Daily News, the Village Voice, and New York Newsday. He served briefly as editor of the Post, and later as editor-in-chief-of the Daily News. His resignation from the latter position after eight months prompted a letter of protest signed by more than a hundred of the paper's writers.[18] Hamill's more extensive journalistic pieces have been published in New York, The New Yorker, Esquire, Playboy, Rolling Stone, and other periodicals. He has written about wars in Vietnam, Nicaragua, Lebanon and Northern Ireland,[19] and reported on America's urban riots of the 1960s. Hamill wrote about the New York underclass and racial division, most notably in an essay for Esquire magazine entitled Breaking the Silence.[20] He also wrote about boxing, baseball, art, and contemporary music, winning a Grammy Award in 1975 for the liner notes to Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks.[21]
Two collections of his selected journalism have been published: Irrational Ravings and Piecework (1996). For the Library of America he edited two volumes of the journalism of A.J. Liebling. In 1998, he published an extended essay on contemporary journalism titled News is a Verb: Journalism at the End of the Twentieth Century.
Hamill's 1994 memoir, A Drinking Life, chronicled his journey from childhood into his thirties, his embrace of drinking and the decision to abandon it.[22] According to Hamill, Frank McCourt was inspired by the book to complete his own memoir, Angela's Ashes.[23] Hamill's memoir Downtown: My Manhattan includes his reporting for the New York Daily News on the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, at which he was present.

United Nations REPLACEMENT MIGRATION Program: http://www.un.org/en/development/desa/population/publications/ageing/replacement-migration.shtml
"United Nations projections indicate that over the next 50 years, the populations of virtually all countries of Europe as well as Japan will face population decline and population ageing. The new challenges of declining and ageing populations will require comprehensive reassessments of many established policies and programmes, including those relating to international migration."
"Focusing on these two striking and critical population trends, the report considers replacement migration for eight low-fertility countries (France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, United Kingdom and United States) and two regions (Europe and the European Union). Replacement migration refers to the international migration that a country would need to offset population decline and population ageing resulting from low fertility and mortality rates." -United Nations, Replacement Migration, Population Division
AK: The United Nations is flooding Western (low birth rate) Countries with millions of 3rd world immigrants with no skills, with the express purpose of REPLACING them with that third world population. That's genocide by definition. They are deliberately, and publicly, inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about particular groups physical destruction in whole or in part.

“Multiculturalism” is a program that is FORCED upon EVERY & ONLY White countries.
“Multiculturalism” is a program to turn EVERY White country into a non-White country.
This IS geNOcide. WHITE geNOcide.
If you are White, and you object to your own geNOcide, you are called a RACIST!
Well guess what, my people, White people, are catching on very quickly to the following two things:
