One day you're Ukrainian, the next you're Russian. That's the prospect facing the people of Crimea, a neglected pocket of a nation left battered and all but broken by a corrupt President and his cronies.
"It reminds me of the propaganda of Soviet time now. They tell about the same thing many times, fascist, fascist, fascist. They don't tell about other opinions", Yevgeniy Snezhkin says, describing Russia's media storm in Crimea. He's a Russian-speaking Crimean and doesn't care which country it's in, but doesn't like Putin's tactics. For Crimea's minorities there's more than distaste, they're afraid that the terrors they suffered under Communism may return. "We're taking very seriously what's happening to our Fatherland because aggressors have come. They have automatic weapons and they dictate their conditions to us", says Aigar Aga, a local Tartar. Tensions are rising in Crimea and it doesn't bode well for minorities like the Tartars: "Crimea has chosen Russia. We will not let the enemy in", a group of ethnic Russians tell us in no uncertain terms.

Making his intentions clear, he showed a specially made map of Europe, with Austria already incorporated into Germany, to Mussolini in September 1937, and to the top official in the Austrian Foreign Ministry two months later. He took Mussolini's silence for assent. The incorporation of Austria fitted well into Göring's geopolitical idea of a broad, German-led economic sphere in Central Europa. So he also pressed for a currency union between the two countries. The idea met with a lukewarm response from the Austrian government, which suspected that this would lead inexorably to political union, given the vastly greater economic strength of Germany. This aggressive policy was too tough, Hitler told Mussolini in September 1937. Nevertheless, he did nothing to stop Göring's initiatives. Annexation (Latin ad, to, and nexus, joining) is the de jure incorporation of some territory into another geo-political entity (either adjacent or non-contiguous). Usually, it is implied that the territory and population being annexed is the smaller, more peripheral, and weaker of the two merging entities, barring physical size. It can also imply a certain measure of coercion, expansionism or unilateralism on the part of the stronger of the merging entities. Because of this, more positive terms like political union or reunification are sometimes preferred. Annexation differs from cession and amalgamation, because unlike cession where territory is given or sold through treaty, or amalgamation (where the authorities of both sides are asked if they agree with the merge), annexation is a unilateral act where territory is seized and held by one state and legitimized via general recognition by the other international bodies (i.e. countries and intergovernmental organisations).
During World War II the use of annexation deprived whole populations of the safeguards provided by international laws governing military occupations. The authors of the Geneva Convention IV made a point of "giving these rules an absolute character", thus making it much more difficult for a state to bypass international law through the use of annexation.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (Russian: Влади́мир Влади́мирович Пу́тин; IPA: [vɫɐˈdʲimʲɪr vɫɐˈdʲimʲɪrəvʲɪtɕ ˈputʲɪn] (
listen); born 7 October 1952) is a Russian politician who has been the President of Russia since 7 May 2012. Putin previously served as President from 2000 to 2008 and as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000, and again from 2008 to 2012. Putin also serves as chairman of United Russia and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union of Russia and Belarus. He became acting President on 31 December 1999, when president Boris Yeltsin resigned in a surprising move. Putin won the 2000 presidential election; in 2004 he was re-elected for a second term lasting until 7 May 2008.
Because of constitutionally mandated term limits, Putin was ineligible to run for a third consecutive presidential term. After his successor Dmitry Medvedev won the 2008 presidential election, Putin was nominated by Medvedev to be Russia's Prime Minister; Putin took office on 8 May 2008 and a period of so-called "tandemocracy" followed. In September 2011, Putin and Medvedev agreed he should seek a third, non-consecutive term in the 2012 presidential election, which he won in the first round on 4 March 2012.

A Static Lullaby was a post-hardcore band formed in Chino Hills, California in 2001. ASL's music has been classified under many sub-genres of rock. Their musical style has been labeled as post-hardcore, emo, screamo, metalcore, alternative metal and southern rock.
A Static Lullaby came together after a casual high school jam session that led its members to quit their existing bands and come together as one. Formed in 2001 in Chino Hills, CA, the group began with singer Joe Brown, bassist Phil Pirrone, drummer Brett Dinovo, and guitarists Dan Arnold and Nathan Lindeman. Their first show was a mere two weeks after forming, and it started a buzz about the band that continued to be built upon throughout the local circuit.
In September 2001 the band recorded their first home made song called "Withered". They released it as a demo and burned CDs with the song on it. They then recorded 2 other songs; "A Sip of Wine Chased With Cyanide" and "A Song for a Broken Heart" and released them on a demo, when in 2002 they released their EP, Withered, they sold 6,000 copies. After that they toured, performing the songs taken from the EP across the West Coast

Making his intentions clear, he showed a specially made map of Europe, with Austria already incorporated into Germany, to Mussolini in September 1937, and to the top official in the Austrian Foreign Ministry two months later. One day you're Ukrainian, the next you're Russian. That's the prospect facing the people of Crimea, a neglected pocket of a nation left battered and all but broken by a corrupt President and his cronies.
"It reminds me of the propaganda of Soviet time now. They tell about the same thing many times, fascist, fascist, fascist. They don't tell about other opinions", Yevgeniy Snezhkin says, describing Russia's media storm in Crimea. He's a Russian-speaking Crimean and doesn't care which country it's in, but doesn't like Putin's tactics. For Crimea's minorities there's more than distaste, they're afraid that the terrors they suffered under Communism may return. "We're taking very seriously what's happening to our Fatherland because aggressors have come. They have automatic weapons and they dictate their conditions to us", says Aigar Aga, a local Tartar. Tensions are rising in Crimea and it doesn't bode well for minorities like the Tartars: "Crimea has chosen Russia. We will not let the enemy in", a group of ethnic Russians tell us in no uncertain terms.

The annexation of Korea started from the liquidation of an enormous debt of Korea in 1910. Japan spent 1/3 of national budget, total amounts ¥60 billion during the 35 years. Korea was free of poverty at the end of WWII.
If Korean language and culture are suppressed during the annexed era, why were school text books published by Government -General of Chosen(朝鮮総督府) written in Korean language under the Japanese education system? Korean text books, photos and films of 1930s tell that Japan educated Korean language in Korea.
I don't understand why Korea lies about it and most Westeners
simply believe it without research the historical documents, evidence and fact verification.
Alleyne Ireland' book “TheNew Korea” states that:
"The state of 19th century Korea (Joseon Dynasty 조선왕조 李氏朝鮮) was very similar to that of present day North Korea. The majority of the population were starving and were enslaved by a small number of corrupt bureaucrats called Yangban (양반 両班) who were supported by Qing Dynasty China. (Just like Kim Jong-un and his henchmen rule North Korea with aid from China today).
Korea chose to be annexed by Japan in 1910. This move was welcomed by the majority of Koreans (former slaves who enjoyed freedom and better lives under new administration) but was resented by Yangban who lost their privilege to enslave people. (Yangban would soon launch independence movement)
At the time Japan annexed Korea in 1910, the actual conditions of life in the Peninsula were extremely bad. This was not due to any lack of inherent intelligence and ability in the Korean race, but to the stupidity and corruption which had characterized the government of the Korean dynasty, and to the existence of a royal court which maintained a system of licensed cruelty and corruption throughout Korea. Such was the misrule under which the Koreans had suffered for generation after generation that all incentive to industry and social progress had been destroyed because none of the common people had been allowed to enjoy the fruits of their own efforts."
His book makes it clear that the common perception -- Japanese invaded Korea, exploited Korean & committee atrocities -- is just a myth.

"Caucasus" harbor is located near the Kerch Strait that connects the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, separating the Kerch Peninsula of Crimea in the west from the Taman Peninsula of Russia's Krasnodar region in the east. This is the only connection between Russia and illegally annexed Crimea. Last year, after the annexation of Crimea, there were 5 kilometers long queues of people eager to get into the peninsula. Russian citizens from Orenburg, Nizhny Tagil, and Crimeans among the tourists.
Now there's much less people; there are barely 30 passengers for a big ferry, called "Victory".
The internationally recognized Ukrainian territory of Crimea was annexed by Russia in March 2014. Back then Russian masked troops invaded and occupied key Crimean locations, including Ukrainian airports and military bases, following President Putin's orders.

Ukrainian journalists still face difficulties working there and struggle to provide a realistic picture of what is actually happening there. Two years have passed since Russia's annexation of Crimea which subsequently led to an illegal referendum in the occupied peninsula. Ukrainian journalists still face difficulties working there and struggle to provide a realistic picture of what is actually happening there. They are only permitted to film at demonstrations like the one that took place on March 16th, 2016, dedicated to the second anniversary of the so-called 'Referendum for Independence of Crimea'.
Of course, this is just a showcase; Sergey Aksyonov, the self-proclaimed head of Crimea and the "hero" of occupation is leading the march. Employees of state-owned companies and students are obliged to participate in such events. There were also 'guests' from different regions in Russia and a woman with a 'press' badge shouting "Death to Khokhols!", a disrespectful nickname for Ukrainians.
"Russia hasn’t had a statesman as a ruler for a long time who could gather the nations together. Now we feel that our country is uniting again. The fight against terrorism in Syria is also a part of this", one of the so-called "Kossaks" (representatives of a Russian radical non-governmental organization) tells Hromadske.
The other "Kossak" even quoted Stalin: "Everything changed fundamentally. As Stalin said, 'Life has become better, life has become more joyful'."

Europa Universalis IV is a grand strategy game, developed by Paradox Development Studios and published by Paradox Interactive, from Sweden. The game was released in August 2013, which means that it is now actually somewhat old. Over the years, many expansions and a lot of DLC has been released.
Now, in december 2015, another expansion has been released: The Cossacks! We explore the new expansion with a somewhat less than predictable country choice: Japan. We play from 1444 as the Japanese Shogunate, and first united all Daimyo's on the Japanese island. After that, we started colonizing in South Asia and the New World, and we have also gone land inwards towards the horde nations. Let's see where the game takes us!

STORY: Russia began marking the second anniversary of the annexation of Crimea on Wednesday (March 16). The main day of concerts and parades in Russia to celebrate the March 2014 events is Friday (March 18).
Russian forces seized control of Crimea after Moscow-backed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich fled power after months of street protests, a move described by Russian officials as a coup which threatened the safety of Russian speakers in Ukraine's southern Crimea region.
The takeover began in late February when Russian troops without insignia appeared in various parts of Crimea, mostly outside Ukrainian military bases and government buildings.
On March 16 a referendum, organised by Crimea's pro-Russian politicians and boycotted by a majority of local Ukrainians and Tatars, was held on the peninsula and was declared by organisers to show 97 percent support among those who voted for joining Russia.
Russia's parliament approved the annexation of the peninsula on March 21 2014.

STORY: Russia began marking the second anniversary of the annexation of Crimea on Wednesday (March 16). The main day of concerts and parades in Russia to celebrate the March 2014 events is Friday (March 18).
Russian forces seized control of Crimea after Moscow-backed Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich fled power after months of street protests, a move described by Russian officials as a coup which threatened the safety of Russian speakers in Ukraine's southern Crimea region.
The takeover began in late February when Russian troops without insignia appeared in various parts of Crimea, mostly outside Ukrainian military bases and government buildings.
On March 16 a referendum, organised by Crimea's pro-Russian politicians and boycotted by a majority of local Ukrainians and Tatars, was held on the peninsula and was declared by organisers to show 97 percent support among those who voted for joining Russia.
Russia's parliament approved the annexation of the peninsula on March 21 2014.

The two Belizean journalist and activists discussed the revolutionary actions of the Belize Territorial Volunteers (BTV) in their relentless resistance against the Guatemalan military oligarchy aggression since 2008 after the signing of the 2008 Compromis between the Belizean government and the Guatemalan government that would have taken both countries into a referendum to take the Belize/Guatemalan Dispute to the international Court of Justice. Since that time, the Guatemalan government has encouraged massive encroachments on Belizean land at the Southern border of Belize, and has violently aggressed Belizeans citizens, the Belize Coast Guard, and murdered a Belizean security personnel, Danny Conorquie. The issue is close to become an international catastrophe with the Guatemalan military blockade of the BTV expedition to the Sarstoon Island on Sunday August 16, 2015, as a show of resistance to establish claim to the island as Belizean territory.
