Paul Akers is a businessman and was a candidate for United States Senate from the U.S. state of Washington in the 2010 mid-term elections.
Akers grew up in Southern California and graduated from Biola University in 1984. He began his career as a high school teacher.
In 1997 Akers founded FastCap, a woodworking products manufacturer based in Bellingham, WA.
Akers decided to seek the Republican nomination to challenge Democratic incumbent Patty Murray after seeking the advice of Fox News Channel commentator Dick Morris in December 2009. His run for Senate was largely self-financed with the candidate providing more than $400,000 of his own money to his campaign. Akers ultimately lost his bid in Washington's 2010 primary election having earned less than three-percent of the vote.
Akers campaigned with a program he called "10-3-Lean." His platform envisioned ten-percent cuts in federal spending and taxes for three consecutive years. Additionally, he stated support for streamlining of the immigration process, including introduction of a guest worker program.
Paul Akers is founder and president of FastCap LLC, a product development company manufacturing products for the contractor/cabinetmaking, coffee, tech, surfing and gardening industries. After Paul discovered Lean and the Toyota Production System (TPS), Fastcap became even more successful. In 13 years, Paul and his wife, Leanne, built FastCap from their garage into a multi-million dollar company. Paul became passionate about Lean, wrote 2 Second Lean, and was named Business Executive of the Year by Seattle Business magazine. Paul's passion is helping people discover their full potential and teaching others how to implement Lean thinking for their own business and personal success. http://www.tedxbellingham.com In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organ...

Lean Health is the fountain of youth in a book. It opens your eyes to the most natural and simple strategy for aging in reverse. To summarize this entire book in one word it would be “Ferrari.” The secret to excellent health—the answer—is to treat your body like you would treat a Ferrari. A precise and high performance machine that's exotic, fast, agile and beautiful. If you take care of your body as you would a Ferrari—using only the best fuel and regularly taking it to the best mechanic for maintenance—your body will give you ten times what you put into it, for the duration of your life. So ask yourself, “Do I treat my body like a Ferrari or a Pinto?” Your body is a high performance sports car transporting you through life. It is the vehicle you use to experience everything. If your...

Something in the way you talk
maybe baby, just the way you walk
is shaking all the leaves out of the trees
Something in the way you smile
teeth and lips and hair run wild yeh
surely this has brought me to my knees
Oh Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
yes Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
And I don't know which way to turn
Which way to go
Chorus:
What did you do to me
(did you do) did you do a little seance
(did you do) a black cat romance
(did you do) did you do a little sun dance
(did you do) did you do some voodoo baby
Hey, yeh, yeh, yeh
Feels like a winds a blowin
looks like a hurricanes comin
and it's coming from the center of your eyes
these eyes are deepest blue
these eyes that are so true
you got the eyes to make me cry
Oh Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
yes Lord, I'm down -- I'm down upon my knees
and all I know is I don't know what I know
Hush now darlin
I don't plan to cry
I say hush now darlin
That ain't my style
Look at you, God knows I do
I put it down to a thing called voodoo
I put it down to the curse of love
I put it down to fate, hey
