When the pressure of the gas inside the discharge tube is reduced by working the vacuum pump, to about 110 mm of Hg, no discharge
occurs through the tube. At a pressure of about 100 mm of Hg, the discharge of electricity through the gas begins and irregular streaks
of light appear, accompanied by a crackling sound. As the pressure is reduced to the order of 10 mm of Hg, the irregular streaks broaden out into a luminous column extending from the anode, almost upto the cathode. This column is known as the positive column. With further reduction in pressure to around 0.01 mm of Hg, the positive column disappears and Crooke’s dark space fills the whole tube. At this stage, the walls of the glass tube fluoresce with green colour. This greenish glow in the final stage of the gaseous
discharge is found to be a fluorescence of the glass produced by some invisible rays emanating from the cathode (shown in the
wrapper). These rays are called cathode rays and are found to be electrons.

The tube at the top contains pure krypton at 200 torr; the tube in the middle contains krypton at 100 torr plus a crystal of iodine (vapor pressure ~0.3 torr); and the tube at the bottom contains pure xenon at about 30 torr. Gases are delivered at UHP purity through a metal-sealed system and pressure is measured with a 1000-torr Baratron manometer. The different colors and structures of the discharges are discussed as they relate to fill gas composition--particularly the improvement caused by the addition of iodine to krypton. You may be performing an investigation that has been planned by your teacher. One suitable investigation is described below. Take note of the safe work practices required when any discharge apparatus is operating.
Gather information by observing and recording observations in accurate summary form. Simple diagrams can assist your recollection of phenomena observed.
Using discharge tubes
A common piece of apparatus used for this investigation is a set of glass discharge tubes at different pressures, arranged side-by-side on a board. The tubes have been sealed after having had varying amounts of air pumped out of them (the more air pumped out, the lower the air pressure).
Each tube contains an electrode at each end to allow the application of a large voltage, which is provided by an induction coil. The high voltage causes an electrical discharge through the air in the tube, causing the air to glow. Different discharge patterns are formed at different pressures.
Sample observations
At 5% of atmospheric pressure, long, thin red-purple streamers appear between the two electrodes.
At lower pressure, these streamers give way to a soft red glow.
Upon further pressure reduction, the glow is broken into striations, bands of light and dark. The amount of dark space between the glowing bands increases with further reductions.
At 0.01% of atmospheric pressure, the dark space extends throughout the tube. At this very low pressure, the glass near the anode glows a yellow-green colour.

Complete video instructions to make low pressure gas plasma discharge tubes starting with borosilicate test tubes. Such low pressure tubes are expensive to buy and being able to them at home is great. Required items would include a vacuum pump such as from a fridge compressor, high vacuum tubing, 3 way glass stopcock, propane torch, and a variety of different gases. Of course air and water are free!

Gas-filled tube
A gas-filled tube, also known as a discharge tube, is an arrangement of electrodes in a gas within an insulating, temperature-resistant envelope. Gas-filled tubes exploit phenomena related to electric discharge in gases, and operate by ionizing the gas with an applied voltage sufficient to cause electrical conduction by the underlying phenomena of the Townsend discharge.
The voltage required to initiate and sustain discharge is dependent on the pressure and composition of the fill gas and geometry of the tube. Although the envelope is typically glass, power tubes often use ceramics, and military tubes often use glass-lined metal. Both hot cathode and cold cathode type devices are encountered.
Gases in use
Hydrogen
Hydrogen is used in tubes used for very fast switching, e.g. some thyratrons, dekatrons, and krytrons, where very steep edges are required. The build-up and recovery times of hydrogen are much shorter than in other gases. Hydrogen thyratrons are usually hot-cathode. Hydrogen (and deuterium) can be stored in the tube in the form of a metal hydride, heated with an auxiliary filament; hydrogen by heating such storage element can be used to replenish cleaned-up gas, and even to adjust the pressure as needed for a thyratron operation at a given voltage.

Gases are delivered at UHP purity through a metal-sealed system and pressure is measured with a 1000-torr Baratron manometer. The different colors and structures of the discharges are discussed as they relate to fill gas composition--particularly the improvement caused by the addition of iodine to krypton. Perform an investigation and gather first-hand information to observe the occurrence of different striation patterns for different pressures in discharge tubes
You may be performing an investigation that has been planned by your teacher. One suitable investigation is described below. Take note of the safe work practices required when any discharge apparatus is operating.
Gather information by observing and recording observations in accurate summary form. Simple diagrams can assist your recollection of phenomena observed.
Using discharge tubes
A common piece of apparatus used for this investigation is a set of glass discharge tubes at different pressures, arranged side-by-side on a board. The tubes have been sealed after having had varying amounts of air pumped out of them (the more air pumped out, the lower the air pressure).
Each tube contains an electrode at each end to allow the application of a large voltage, which is provided by an induction coil. The high voltage causes an electrical discharge through the air in the tube, causing the air to glow. Different discharge patterns are formed at different pressures.
Sample observations
At 5% of atmospheric pressure, long, thin red-purple streamers appear between the two electrodes.
At lower pressure, these streamers give way to a soft red glow.
Upon further pressure reduction, the glow is broken into striations, bands of light and dark. The amount of dark space between the glowing bands increases with further reductions.
At 0.01% of atmospheric pressure, the dark space extends throughout the tube. At this very low pressure, the glass near the anode glows a yellow-green colour.

Vaginal discharge refers to secretions from the vagina. The discharge may be:
Thick, pasty, or thin
Clear, cloudy, bloody, white, yellow, or green
Odorless or have a bad odor
Itching of the skin of the vagina and the surrounding area (vulva) may be present along with vaginal discharge. It can also occur on its own.
Causes
Glands in the cervix and the walls of the vagina normally produce a clear mucus. This is very common among women of childbearing age.
These secretions may turn white or yellow when exposed to the air.
The amount of mucus produced varies during the menstrual cycle as hormone levels in the body change.
The following factors can increase the amount of normal vaginal discharge:
Ovulation (the production and release of an egg from your ovary in the middle of your menstrual cycle)
Pregnancy
Sexual excitement
Different types of infections may cause itching or an abnormal discharge in the vagina. Abnormal discharge is characterized by abnormal color (brown, green), and odor. It is associated itching or irritation.
These include:
Infections spread during sexual contact. These include chlamydia, gonorrhea (GC), and trichomoniasis.
Vaginal yeast infection, caused by a fungus.
Normal bacteria that live in the vagina that overgrow, causing a gray discharge and fishy odor. This is called bacterial vaginosis (BV). BV is not spread through sexual contact.

Xenon is beloved by plasma artists for its vivid white arcs. It is the main constituent gas in most commercial plasma globe toys. (It's a shame it's so costly!) In this video, a one-liter glass flask fitted with an electrode is evacuated on a high vacuum pumping station and then incrementally pressurized with pure xenon while a high-voltage RF discharge is passed through it. At the end, I seal off the flask from the pumps. Nothing is redacted, so it's a long and at times boring video. During the second period of the World Tournament, all the players must compete in a Battle Royal elimination match. During the second period of the World Tournament, all the players must compete in a Battle Royal elimination match. In the middle of the fighting, the battle is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a giant Mega Size Gunpla which belongs to none of the participating players. The other Gunpla have no way to deal with its overwhelming firepower, and since it isn't related to the tournament, most of the players try to avoid fighting it. But Reiji, on the other hand, boldly challenges the giant Gunpla. His seemingly reckless fighting spirit is backed up by the Star Build Strike, the new Gunpla that Sei has built. To win the fight, Sei activates the Discharge System installed in the Star Build Strike.
