Kōdō
Kōdō (香道, "Way of Fragrance") is the art of appreciating Japanese incense, and involves using incense within a structure of codified conduct. Kōdō includes all aspects of the incense process, from the tools (香道具 kōdōgu), to activities such the incense-comparing games kumikō (組香) and genjikō (源氏香). Kōdō is counted as one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement, along with kadō for flower arrangement, and chadō for tea and the tea ceremony.
Etymology
The word 香 kō is written in the Chinese Kangxi radical 186 composed of nine strokes, which can also be expanded up to 18 strokes 馫. Translated it means "fragrance", however in this context may also be translated as "incense".
The word 道 dō means "way", both literally (street) and metaphorically (a stream of life experience). The suffix -道 generally denotes, in the broadest sense, the totality of a movement as endeavor, tradition, practice and ethos.
In the search for a suitable term, translations of such words into English sometimes focus on a narrower aspect of the original term. One common translation in context is "ceremony", which entails the process of preparation and smelling in general, but not a specific instance. In some instances, it functions similarly to the English suffix -ism, and as in the case of tea (chadō/sadō 茶道) one sees teaism in works dating from early efforts at illustrating sadō in English, focusing on its philosophy and ethos.

Kruder & Dorfmeister
Kruder & Dorfmeister, named after members Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, is an Austrian duo best known for their downtempo-dub remixes of pop, hip-hop and drum and bass songs.
Career
In 1993 they released the 4-track EP G-Stoned featuring the hypnotic "High Noon" and a cover mimicking Simon & Garfunkel to critical acclaim especially from the UK. Gilles Peterson played the track at first on his famous now called Worldwide-show.
2010 saw the 16th anniversary of Kruder & Dorfmeister and their record label G-Stone Recordings which resulted in the release of the "Sixteen F**kin Years Of G-Stone Recordings“ compilation and the development of the "K&D Sessions Live“ show. The show included visuals by longtime G-Stone VJ collaborator Fritz Fitzke and MC performances by Earl Zinger and MC Ras T-Weed. With performances at The Big Chill, Berlin Festival and numerous other high profile festivals, the "K&D Sessions Live“ show became an instant success and a world tour ensued.

For many, the ōdaiko solo is the embodiment of power due to the size of the drum, the volume, and the endurance it takes to perform. Ōdaiko means "big taiko", but within any group, it describes the largest drum in an ensemble, which could mean 12 inches (300 mm) in diameter or 12 feet (3.7 m) in diameter. Made from a single piece of wood, some ōdaiko come from trees that are hundreds of years old.

Although the main focus of the performance is taiko drumming, other traditional Japanese musical instruments such as fue and shamisen make an appearance on stage as do traditional dance and vocal performance. Kodo's performance include pieces based on the traditional rhythms of regional Japan, pieces composed for Kodo by contemporary songwriters, and pieces written by Kodo members themselves. The numbers that Kodo perform can change from concert to concert. Kodo's performance normally lasts for about one hour and forty minutes.
In Japanese the word "Kodo" conveys two meanings: "heartbeat" the primal source of all rhythm and, read in a different way, the word can mean "children of the drum," a reflection of Kodo's desire to play their drums simply, with the heart of a child.
Kodo strives to both preserve and re-interpret traditional Japanese performing arts. From worldwide tours and research trips, Kodo brings back to Sado world music and experiences which now exert a strong influence on the group's performances and compositions. They also collaborate with other artists and composers.
Since their debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981, Kodo have given over 3,100 performances on five continents, spending about a third of the year overseas, a third touring in Japan and a third resting and preparing new material on Sado Island.

太鼓是有无限节奏可能性的传统日本鼓。 鼓童的使命是探索这些可能性，并在过程中为这满是生活力的艺术形式开拓新天地。
在日语中，「鼓童」（Kodo）一词有双重含义。它可以被翻译成“心跳”，是所有节奏的根源。大太鼓的声音让人联想到子宫里的婴儿感受到母亲的心跳，并可在它如雷鸣的振动声中安然入睡。在另一语境下「鼓童」也可是指“鼓的孩子”的意思，道出鼓童这个团体想用淳朴的孩子的心来击鼓的愿望。
自1981年在柏林艺术节首次亮相以来，鼓童已在五大洲52个国家进行了6,500多场演出，其中包括4,000场以《同一个地球》为主题的演出来体现鼓童跨越语言和文化范筹的愿望，以及与观众共享人类相互的纽带。
此外，鼓童通过 《交流学校公演》 演出与日本数以千计的学童交流合作。鼓童又广泛参与其他的项目和活动，包括在主要的国际艺术节领衔演出、为电影配乐、以及与全球众多世界级艺术家合作。
2019年7月，鼓童在上海，广州和北京巡演由日本人间国宝坂东玉三郎导演的 《螺旋》，获高度的赞誉评价。

Kodo is an ancient Japanese incense ceremony, in which participants must detect subtle similarities between different mixtures of incense. This elusive and eclectic game is little-known even in Japan, and due to its great expense, has been practiced by a few rich and initiated. "Kodo: The Art of Japanese Incense" offers a rarely-seen glimpse of this ancient ceremony and provides historical background and a brief summary of the tradition of contemporary Japanese incense culture. This 12-minute film offers a poetic, musical and contemplative look at this most intangible and invisible world of aromatic pleasures. Much like jazz, the two-hour long Kodo ceremony is more about the rhythm of spaces rather than the activity itself, and as such, it seems to be almost suspended in time. As we rush into the 21st century, post-industrial societies become progressively aware of the hectic pace, rapid consumerism, quick changes and distractions of modern life. Realizing it, more and more people connect with activities which help them to slow down, relax their bodies, clear their minds, and to realize that no matter how fast they move and progress, time can not be overcome. Incense and perfumes affect our brain in a most direct way and olfactory sensations are more important for our survival than any other. Kōdō (香道, "Way of Incense") is the Japanese art of appreciating incense, and involves using incense within a structure of codified conduct. Kōdō includes all aspects of the incense process, from the tools (香道具 kōdōgu) -- which, much like tools of the tea ceremony, are valued as high art -- to activities such the incense-comparing games kumikō (組香) and genjikō (源氏香). Kōdō is counted as one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement (kadō, or ikebana for flower arrangement, kōdō for incense, and chadō for tea and the tea ceremony), but it is relatively unknown among modern Japanese people.

Ōdaiko : One of the most memorable drums of many taiko ensembles is the ōdaiko (大太鼓). For many, the ōdaiko solo is the embodiment of power due to the size of the drum, the volume, and the endurance it takes to perform. The ōdaiko is the largest drum of all taiko, if not the entire world. The largest ōdaiko are too big to move and permanently reside inside a temple or shrine. Ōdaiko means "big taiko", but within any group, it describes the largest drum in an ensemble, which could mean 12 inches (300 mm) in diameter or 12 feet (3.7 m) in diameter. Made from a single piece of wood, some ōdaiko come from trees that are hundreds of years old.

Kodō (鼓童?) is a professional taiko drumming troupe. Based on Sado Island, Japan, they have had a role in popularizing taiko drumming, both in Japan and abroad. They regularly tour Japan, Europe, and the United States.
Although the main focus of the performance is taiko drumming, other traditional Japanese musical instruments such as fue and shamisen make an appearance on stage as do traditional dance and vocal performance. Kodo's performance include pieces based on the traditional rhythms of regional Japan, pieces composed for Kodo by contemporary songwriters, and pieces written by Kodo members themselves. The numbers that Kodo perform can change from concert to concert. Kodo's performance normally lasts for about one hour and forty minutes.
In Japanese the word "Kodo" conveys two meanings: "heartbeat" the primal source of all rhythm and, read in a different way, the word can mean "children of the drum," a reflection of Kodo's desire to play their drums simply, with the heart of a child.
Kodo strives to both preserve and re-interpret traditional Japanese performing arts. From worldwide tours and research trips, Kodo brings back to Sado world music and experiences which now exert a strong influence on the group's performances and compositions. They also collaborate with other artists and composers.
Since their debut at the Berlin Festival in 1981, Kodo have given over 3,100 performances on five continents, spending about a third of the year overseas, a third touring in Japan and a third resting and preparing new material on Sado Island.

在日语中，「鼓童」（Kodo）一词有双重含义。它可以被翻译成“心跳”，是所有节奏的根源。大太鼓的声音让人联想到子宫里的婴儿感受到母亲的心跳，并可在它如雷鸣的振动声中安然入睡。在另一语境下「鼓童」也可是指“鼓的孩子”的意思，道出鼓童这个团体想用淳朴的孩子的心来击鼓的愿望。
自1981年在柏林艺术节首次亮相以来，鼓童已在五大洲52个国家进行了6,500多场演出，其中包括4,000场以《同一个地球》为主题的演出来体现鼓童跨越语言和文化范筹的愿望，以及与观众共享人类相互的纽带。
此外，鼓童通过 《交流学校公演》 演出与日本数以千计的学童交流合作。鼓童又广泛参与其他的项目和活动，包括在主要的国际艺术节领衔演出、为电影配乐、以及与全球众多世界级艺术家合作。
2019年7月，鼓童在上海，广州和北京巡演由日本人间国宝坂东玉三郎导演的 《螺旋》，获高度的赞誉评价。

Kodo is an ancient Japanese incense ceremony, in which participants must detect subtle similarities between different mixtures of incense. This elusive and eclectic game is little-known even in Japan, and due to its great expense, has been practiced by a few rich and initiated. "Kodo: The Art of Japanese Incense" offers a rarely-seen glimpse of this ancient ceremony and provides historical background and a brief summary of the tradition of contemporary Japanese incense culture. This 12-minute film offers a poetic, musical and contemplative look at this most intangible and invisible world of aromatic pleasures. Much like jazz, the two-hour long Kodo ceremony is more about the rhythm of spaces rather than the activity itself, and as such, it seems to be almost suspended in time. As we rush into the 21st century, post-industrial societies become progressively aware of the hectic pace, rapid consumerism, quick changes and distractions of modern life. Realizing it, more and more people connect with activities which help them to slow down, relax their bodies, clear their minds, and to realize that no matter how fast they move and progress, time can not be overcome. Incense and perfumes affect our brain in a most direct way and olfactory sensations are more important for our survival than any other. They enable us to increase our concentration, attain balance with our inner selves, to search for harmony with others and eventually with ourselves.

The Kumano Kodo is a set of ancient pilgrimage routes that crisscross the mountainous Kii peninsula of Japan. They link isolated sacred sites with a unique mixture of Buddhism and native belief systems.

Kōdō
Kōdō (香道, "Way of Fragrance") is the art of appreciating Japanese incense, and involves using incense within a structure of codified conduct. Kōdō includes all aspects of the incense process, from the tools (香道具 kōdōgu), to activities such the incense-comparing games kumikō (組香) and genjikō (源氏香). Kōdō is counted as one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement, along with kadō for flower arrangement, and chadō for tea and the tea ceremony.
Etymology
The word 香 kō is written in the Chinese Kangxi radical 186 composed of nine strokes, which can also be expanded up to 18 strokes 馫. Translated it means "fragrance", however in this context may also be translated as "incense".
The word 道 dō means "way", both literally (street) and metaphorically (a stream of life experience). The suffix -道 generally denotes, in the broadest sense, the totality of a movement as endeavor, tradition, practice and ethos.
In the search for a suitable term, translations of such words into English sometimes focus on a narrower aspect of the original term. One common translation in context is "ceremony", which entails the process of preparation and smelling in general, but not a specific instance. In some instances, it functions similarly to the English suffix -ism, and as in the case of tea (chadō/sadō 茶道) one sees teaism in works dating from early efforts at illustrating sadō in English, focusing on its philosophy and ethos.
