From the 10th to 16th of August, Rossport Solidarity Camp hosted it's 3rd wind turbine building course. You can read a report of the first one here: http://www.indymedia.ie/article/95731. As the 3 previous turbines that were built are still going strong (and powering both the camp and camp house), this year it was decided to go for something bigger and more challenging. This year it's was decided to build a 4.2 metre turbine that is planned eventually to be connected to the grid at the house of a local Shell to Sea campaigner.

“We are the last frontier in a Europe that is looking for GM free food” Clare Keane.

People in Ireland have joined millions of people worldwide repaying unjust and illegitimate ‘debts’.

Ireland’s repayments of the now dead Anglo-Irish Bank’s debts could reach over €47 billion by 2031if the repayments are not suspended! That’s over €26,000 per working person. Take Action!

Welcome to the Gluaiseacht newsletter! We're hoping to have editions out every two or three months or so from now until the fall of capitalism! Inside you’ll find articles on some events Gluaiseacht took part in and events coming up soon are listed. Also some info and insight from some of the many community campaigns starting up around the country.

Gluaiseacht is a non-hierarchical environmental and social justice movement bringing together grassroots organisations, concerned individuals and student groups from all over Ireland to raise awareness and take non-violent direct action on social, environmental and political issues. We’re a diverse group, a loose campaign and skills network who share the same vision of a truly democratic and sustainable society.

Gluaiseacht is a member of the Irish Environmental Network. We gratefully acknowledge their support over the years.
