1972年，豪商羅老爺正室產子，產房燈火通明、服侍周到，兒子取名羅定一。另一方面下人司徒阿綺(李惠敏飾演)，因受羅老爺汙辱，因奸成孕，於同日在潮濕邋遢的幽暗廚房內獨自產子，取名羅四兩。及後兩母子更被羅老爺趕出家門。
阿綺幸得算命師高師傅(Joe Junior)收留，高師傅得知羅四兩非池中物，加以照顧。羅四兩自小逢賭必勝，橫財就手，生活無憂。反觀羅老爺一家，自定一出生之後，頭頭碰著黑，最後弄至家破人亡，定一淪為孤兒，幸得阿綺收留。
三歲的四兩已天才橫溢，因風水術數關系，要和定一換轉名字，更自行改名司徒定一(杜德偉飾演)。從此風山水起，二十五歲成為世界級賭王之王，未到三十，旗下的麻雀館和地下賭莊不計其數。羅四兩(張家輝飾演)正好相反，雖然嗜賭如命，無賭不歡，但卻逢賭必輸，並患上思覺失調，幸得青梅竹馬的阿花(楊恭如飾演)、沙煲兄弟鐵罐和飯盒(郭力行和梁俊一飾演)收留。阿花對四兩處處關照，但感情卻是若即若離。
四兩突遭奇遇，像開竅一樣逢賭必勝，好運之際，卻被神秘超級富豪幕後操縱的組織綁架，與同被綁架的各種天才一起生活，慘成研究對象。四兩在組織內認識數學天才方天鐸(李燦森飾演)，幾經艱苦，終能一同逃出生天。
四兩與方天鐸雙劍合璧，橫掃賭壇，開始威脅定一。定一諸事不順，想起高師傅曾批算自己的三十大限，有感大限將至，定一必要與同年同月同日生的四兩賭命借運，贏取四兩運勢，方可繼續大富大貴。
四兩與方天鐸最後與司徒定一決戰一局，以生命作賭註，決定大家今後命運，決定“賭俠”誰屬……
Hong Kong returns to the well, except this time the well-drinker isn't Wong Jing. Hong Kong's tackiest auteur may be behind nearly all gambling flicks since the early nineties, but Fate Fighter arrives courtesy of producer Ng Kin-Hung and director Steve Cheng Wai-Man. Usual Wong Jing cohort Nick Cheung is the lead, and the title bears the familar do hap (gambling hero) Chinese characters.
One would hope that Fate Fighter is better than the last HK gambling effort, The Conman 2002. But despite the fact that Conman 2002 was an all-out turkey AND Wong Jing is absent from the credits, Fate Fighter IS NOT better than Conman 2002. Our disappointment cannot be accurately measured.
Nick Cheung is Leung, a poor guy with enormously bad luck. He lives with Uncle Three (Alfred Cheung) and barely ekes out a living in odd jobs. Luckily he has two things going for him: old childhood pal Fa (an uncharacteristically dour Kristy Yeung) and some amazing gambling skills which strangely enough have never been exploited. All that changes when he gets drawn into the web of sinister gambler/corporate bigwig Yat (Alex To), who is actually Leung's long-lost half brother. It seems they were birthed on the same day by different mothers to the same superstitious father, but unfortunately everything backfired and it all went to hell. The brothers separated, one (Yat) led a charmed life and the other (Leung) lived on the scraps of others. Fate can be cruel.
Still, if anyone really wanted to make a good gambling film, then they should have done this: call Wong Jing. Asking for Wong Jing's help might sound like a sign of the Apocalypse, but the guy made some very, very entertaining gambling flicks in his time.

Nick Cheung Ka-fai (born 2 December 1967) is a Hong Kong actor. Cheung was a Royal Hong Kong Police officer for five years and changed his career as an actor with ATV. After a few years Cheung moved over to rival TVB.
Cheung met Hong Kong actress Esther Kwan while he was still working for ATV. The couple married on 8 November 2004 in Australia. Their daughter, Brittany Cheung (張童) was born on 24 January 2006.
Nick Cheung has won totally 7 prizes for Beast Stalker including Hong Kong Film Critics Society Award for Best Actor, Hong Kong Film Award for Best Actor, Golden Horse Film Award for Best Actor etc.
Nick Cheung has also dubbed foreign films and Television programs into Cantonese Chinese.

Zhao Wei (born 12 March 1976) is a Chinese actress and pop singer. Audiences sometimes refer to her by her English name, Vicki Zhao (sometimes spelled Vicky Zhao). She has been awarded the Hundred Flowers Award, Shanghai Film Critics Award, Huabiao Award, Golden Eagle TV Award as well as Shanghai Film Festival Golden Globe, amongst others.
After being chosen to work as an extra on a filming set, Zhao developed a love for acting. While studying at Beijing Film Academy, Zhao participated in various film projects. Zhao's breakout role as a leading actress was in Princess Pearl, a Chinese television series. In 1999, after Princess Pearl was broadcast, Zhao also began a singing career with her first album, Swallow. She is considered one of the "Four Young Dan actresses" in China (四小花旦), along with Xu Jinglei, Zhang Ziyi and Zhou Xun.
Zhao rose to international stardom in films such as Stephen Chow's Shaolin Soccer (2001), So Close (2002) and the epic Warriors of Heaven and Earth (2004). In John Woo's historical epic Red Cliff (2009), she played warrior princess Sun Shangxiang. She gained positive reviews from the Associated Press: "But the biggest surprise in the cast is Chinese actress Zhao Wei, who steals the show with her portrayal of Sun's spunky tomboy sister Sun Shangxiang." For her achievements in film, television, and music, Japanese media dubbed her China's No.1 actress, and UK's The Independent described her as "China's box office darling."

1972年，豪商羅老爺正室產子，產房燈火通明、服侍周到，兒子取名羅定一。另一方面下人司徒阿綺(李惠敏飾演)，因受羅老爺汙辱，因奸成孕，於同日在潮濕邋遢的幽暗廚房內獨自產子，取名羅四兩。及後兩母子更被羅老爺趕出家門。
阿綺幸得算命師高師傅(Joe Junior)收留，高師傅得知羅四兩非池中物，加以照顧。羅四兩自小逢賭必勝，橫財就手，生活無憂。反觀羅老爺一家，自定一出生之後，頭頭碰著黑，最後弄至家破人亡，定一淪為孤兒，幸得阿綺收留。
三歲的四兩已天才橫溢，因風水術數關系，要和定一換轉名字，更自行改名司徒定一(杜德偉飾演)。從此風山水起，二十五歲成為世界級賭王之王，未到三十，旗下的麻雀館和地下賭莊不計其數。羅四兩(張家輝飾演)正好相反，雖然嗜賭如命，無賭不歡，但卻逢賭必輸，並患上思覺失調，幸得青梅竹馬的阿花(楊恭如飾演)、沙煲兄弟鐵罐和飯盒(郭力行和梁俊一飾演)收留。阿花對四兩處處關照，但感情卻是若即若離。
四兩突遭奇遇，像開竅一樣逢賭必勝，好運之際，卻被神秘超級富豪幕後操縱的組織綁架，與同被綁架的各種天才一起生活，慘成研究對象。四兩在組織內認識數學天才方天鐸(李燦森飾演)，幾經艱苦，終能一同逃出生天。
四兩與方天鐸雙劍合璧，橫掃賭壇，開始威脅定一。定一諸事不順，想起高師傅曾批算自己的三十大限，有感大限將至，定一必要與同年同月同日生的四兩賭命借運，贏取四兩運勢，方可繼續大富大貴。
四兩與方天鐸最後與司徒定一決戰一局，以生命作賭註，決定大家今後命運，決定“賭俠”誰屬……
Hong Kong returns to the well, except this time the well-drinker isn't Wong Jing. Hong Kong's tackiest auteur may be behind nearly all gambling flicks since the early nineties, but Fate Fighter arrives courtesy of producer Ng Kin-Hung and director Steve Cheng Wai-Man. Usual Wong Jing cohort Nick Cheung is the lead, and the title bears the familar do hap (gambling hero) Chinese characters.
One would hope that Fate Fighter is better than the last HK gambling effort, The Conman 2002. But despite the fact that Conman 2002 was an all-out turkey AND Wong Jing is absent from the credits, Fate Fighter IS NOT better than Conman 2002. Our disappointment cannot be accurately measured.
Nick Cheung is Leung, a poor guy with enormously bad luck. He lives with Uncle Three (Alfred Cheung) and barely ekes out a living in odd jobs. Luckily he has two things going for him: old childhood pal Fa (an uncharacteristically dour Kristy Yeung) and some amazing gambling skills which strangely enough have never been exploited. All that changes when he gets drawn into the web of sinister gambler/corporate bigwig Yat (Alex To), who is actually Leung's long-lost half brother. It seems they were birthed on the same day by different mothers to the same superstitious father, but unfortunately everything backfired and it all went to hell. The brothers separated, one (Yat) led a charmed life and the other (Leung) lived on the scraps of others. Fate can be cruel.
Still, if anyone really wanted to make a good gambling film, then they should have done this: call Wong Jing. Asking for Wong Jing's help might sound like a sign of the Apocalypse, but the guy made some very, very entertaining gambling flicks in his time.

Synopsis:
Hong Kong residential property is reported to be the most expensive in the world. Nevertheless, four average Joes would still do anything to become proud property owners. Lung (Nick Cheung), a hardworking property agent, is facing a serious situation in life. His girlfriend won`t marry him unless he can buy her a 1000-sq ft apartment in one year`s time. Charlotte (Sammi Cheng), a recent divorcee who just moved out from her ex-husband, is in need of a new place to live. She receives a sizable breakup fee of 4 million dollars. Delivery girl Hak (Angelababy), who is Lung`s step daughter and sees him as a father figure, owns a small flat given by her estranged mother. Mainland richling Very (Oho) works as an intern in Lung`s property agency, claiming to experience an ordinary life in Hong Kong. Hoping to make enough money through property speculation, the four of them become co-owners of a penthouse in a luxurious condominium. However, the government plays a big trick on them by issuing an anti-speculation measure to cool down the property market, which catches them completely dumbfounded.
