Magadha empire may refer to the following, for a general view of the states based on Magadha, see Magadha.
here is little certain information available on the early rulers of Magadha. The most important sources are the Hindu Puranas, the Buddhist Pāli Canon and Mahavamsa of Sri Lanka, and the Jain Agamas. Based on these sources, it appears that Magadha was ruled by the Haryanka dynasty for some 200 years, c. 600 BCE – 413 BCE. The Hindu Mahabharata calls Brihadratha the first ruler of Magadha. The second book of the Hindu Mahabharata, the Sabha Parva, also includes the story of how Krishna kills King Jarasandha of Magadha, allegedly to stop him from making human sacrifices of 95 kings Jarasandha had captured. Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was born in Kapilavastu in the Shakya clan in an area of modern-day Nepal[3]) in the 6th or 5th century BCE, a tribal territory which was later a...

This a brief description of Magadha empire important for diffrent government examinations
The Magadha empire was established very likely by semi-mythical king Jarasandha who was a son of Brihadratha, as it stated in the Puranas, one of the descendants of eponymical Puru.Jarasandha appears in the Mahabharatha as the Magadhan Emperor who rules all India and meets with an unceremonious ending. His descendants, according to the Vayu Purana, ruled Magadha for 1000 years followed by the Pradyota dynasty which ruled for 138 years. However, no sufficient evidence to prove the historicity of this claim. The Empire was founded in 322 BCE by Chandragupta Maurya, who had overthrown the Nanda Dynasty and rapidly expanded his power westwards across central and western India, taking advantage of the disruptions of local powers in the wake of the withdrawal westward by Alexander's Greek armies. By 316 BCE the empire had fully occupied Northwestern India, defeating and conquering the satraps left by Alexander. Chandragupta then defeated the inva...
