External Voltage Regulator Kit and Field Replacement Module for 1988 & up Chrysler Corporation Vehicles

Since 1987 for Dodge and Chrysler vehicles and since 1991 for Jeep Family vehicles have alternators that are controlled by the Alternator Voltage Regulator Control Module inside the vehicle computer.
Engine Control Unit (Computer).
The computer is often called the ECC, ECM, EEC, or PCM. Often the alternator voltage regulator, or field control module, in the computer will fail, leaving you with a dead charging system where your alternator doesn't work, yet your engine runs just fine. Before our external voltage regulator conversion kit, the entire computer would need replacement at a much higher cost.
In order to avoid costly computer replacement and get your alternator working, you can simply bypass the internal Alternator Voltage Regulator Control Module using our simple External Voltage Regulator conversion kit.

NOTE: The FRM Module (gold color) is inserted beteen the two wires that go back to the vehicle's computer, which you remove from the alternator to install the external voltage regulator kit. Your vehicles' computer may be broken in such a way the FRM Module will not put out the check engine light in about 10 to 20% of the cases, but the external voltage regulator kit will work 100% of the time as long as your alternator is working.
The FRM module does NOT need to be grounded, where as, the metal case of the voltage regulator must have a good ground between the alternator, voltage regulator and battery. The FRM module may get hot so don't wrap it up with tape.
How to test your alternator on the vehicle:
To check to see if your alternator is working, unplug or remove the two field wires from the back of the alternator. Then ground one of the field terminals on the alternator and jumper the other field terminal to the positive battery post on the back of the alternator. It does not matter which terminal is grounded and which one get positive power. When you connect the ground and positive wires to the field terminals you will get a small spark, this is normal. This is by-passing the voltage control and will cause your alternator to run full blast, if it is working. Put a multi-meter on your battery and run your engine on high idle, do not allow your alternator to charge the battery much over 16 volts. If you find that your alternator is charging when you do this procedure, but does not charge when you connect it back to the computer, this kit will get your alternator working and charging at the proper voltage. The voltage regulator is preset at 14.5 volts. If you want to adjust the voltage regulator you use the screw on the back, but be sure the metal case of the voltage regulator is grounded while you adjust it.

In this video I'm comparing in practice a buck converter with LM7805 linear voltage regulator. Two driver boards from old hard drives are used as a dummy load to check efficiency and temperature of the buck converter and linear voltage regulator. I'm presenting pros and cons of both devices.
There are 2 mistakes in my calculations:
1. 5:02 - 5:08 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.42A = 2.94W
2. 5:17 - 5:23 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.22A = 1.54W
I double checked everything, but I should have triple checked. I'm sorry for my mistake.

In this video I'm comparing in practice a buck converter with LM7805 linear voltage regulator. Two driver boards from old hard drives are used as a dummy load to check efficiency and temperature of the buck converter and linear voltage regulator. I'm presenting pros and cons of both devices. There are 2 mistakes in my calculations: 1. 5:02 - 5:08 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.42A = 2.94W 2. 5:17 - 5:23 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.22A = 1.54W I double checked everything, but I should have triple checked. Since 1987 for Dodge and Chrysler vehicles and since 1991 for Jeep Family vehicles have alternators that are controlled by the Alternator Voltage Regulator Control Module inside the vehicle computer.
Engine Control Unit (Computer).
The computer is often called the ECC, ECM, EEC, or PCM. Often the alternator voltage regulator, or field control module, in the computer will fail, leaving you with a dead charging system where your alternator doesn't work, yet your engine runs just fine. Before our external voltage regulator conversion kit, the entire computer would need replacement at a much higher cost.
In order to avoid costly computer replacement and get your alternator working, you can simply bypass the internal Alternator Voltage Regulator Control Module using our simple External Voltage Regulator conversion kit.

NOTE: The FRM Module (gold color) is inserted beteen the two wires that go back to the vehicle's computer, which you remove from the alternator to install the external voltage regulator kit. Your vehicles' computer may be broken in such a way the FRM Module will not put out the check engine light in about 10 to 20% of the cases, but the external voltage regulator kit will work 100% of the time as long as your alternator is working.
The FRM module does NOT need to be grounded, where as, the metal case of the voltage regulator must have a good ground between the alternator, voltage regulator and battery. The FRM module may get hot so don't wrap it up with tape.
How to test your alternator on the vehicle:
To check to see if your alternator is working, unplug or remove the two field wires from the back of the alternator. Then ground one of the field terminals on the alternator and jumper the other field terminal to the positive battery post on the back of the alternator. It does not matter which terminal is grounded and which one get positive power. When you connect the ground and positive wires to the field terminals you will get a small spark, this is normal. This is by-passing the voltage control and will cause your alternator to run full blast, if it is working. Put a multi-meter on your battery and run your engine on high idle, do not allow your alternator to charge the battery much over 16 volts. If you find that your alternator is charging when you do this procedure, but does not charge when you connect it back to the computer, this kit will get your alternator working and charging at the proper voltage. The voltage regulator is preset at 14.5 volts. If you want to adjust the voltage regulator you use the screw on the back, but be sure the metal case of the voltage regulator is grounded while you adjust it.

In this video I'm comparing in practice a buck converter with LM7805 linear voltage regulator. Two driver boards from old hard drives are used as a dummy load to check efficiency and temperature of the buck converter and linear voltage regulator. I'm presenting pros and cons of both devices.
There are 2 mistakes in my calculations:
1. 5:02 - 5:08 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.42A = 2.94W
2. 5:17 - 5:23 - correct calculations should be: (12V - 5V) x 0.22A = 1.54W
I double checked everything, but I should have triple checked. I'm sorry for my mistake.

This is my personal opinion on the product cdi electronics regulator-rectifier om# 585114 193-5114. You can get more information on Amazon-US: http://bit.ly/1UQ2TQP I installed this on my 1988 Mercury in-line six 115HP outboard and it's working perfectly. As may or not know, earlier outboards did have any form of voltage regulation. The OEM rectifier was sending nearly 18v through my electrical at high rpm, shortening the life of my battery (preventing me from considering a no-maintenance or gel due to the excessive charge), caused my fish finder to cut intermittently, and stereo to clip. Thank God for my patience; the brand new fuel pressure regulator & the Ron Francis dual electric fan controller FAILED. The regulator is leaking fuel from the diaphragm ... and the dual fan controller (second one) refused to engage either of the Derale electric fans! The ONLY way the electric fans worked ... is with the TEST BUTTON that you have to depress manually. SUMMIT just emailed me return labels for both items; once the defective parts are scanned into UPS's system (proving that I shipped the defective parts back to Summit Racing Equipment), Summit will immediately ship out both new replacement items to me on MONDAY. Some of these peptides have essential and conserved cellular functions. In Drosophila, we have predicted a particular smORF class encoding ~80 aa hydrophobic peptides, which may function in membranes and cell organelles. Here, we characterise hemotin, a gene encoding an 88aa transmembrane smORF peptide localised to early endosomes in Drosophila macrophages. hemotin regulates endosomal maturation during phagocytosis by repressing the cooperation of 14-3-3ζ with specific phosphatidylinositol (PI) enzymes. hemotin mutants accumulate undigested phagocytic material inside enlarged endo-lysosomes and as a result, hemotin mutants have reduced ability to fight bacteria, and hence, have severely reduced life span and resistance to infections. I installed this on my 1988 Mercury in-line six 115HP outboard and it's working perfectly. As may or not know, earlier outboards did have any form of voltage regulation. The OEM rectifier was sending nearly 18v through my electrical at high rpm, shortening the life of my battery (preventing me from considering a no-maintenance or gel due to the excessive charge), caused my fish finder to cut intermittently, and stereo to clip. I this regulator/rectifier in minutes and have a constant 14v coming of the motor.

Thank God for my patience; the brand new fuel pressure regulator & the Ron Francis dual electric fan controller FAILED.
The regulator is leaking fuel from the diaphragm ... and the dual fan controller (second one) refused to engage either of the Derale electric fans! The ONLY way the electric fans worked ... is with the TEST BUTTON that you have to depress manually.
SUMMIT just emailed me return labels for both items; once the defective parts are scanned into UPS's system (proving that I shipped the defective parts back to Summit Racing Equipment), Summit will immediately ship out both new replacement items to me on MONDAY. The Ron Francis dual electric fan controller's price increased by $20.15, the sales/tech guy just informed me. That has NO effect on my replacement.
The electric CARTER 110-gph was re- installed/positioned via reverse polarity (if I'm not mistaken) because RALPH didn't see the positive/negative markings on the pump. Tyrone Taylor (My-Boy, my TH400 builder, and the guy that got my Regal 455 mechanically able for street drive-ability for me) forgot to mention for me to mark the pump's negative/positive connections (gotten covered with filth over the last 5 years) ... or maybe Tyrone DID tell me and I forgot.
It's "weird" that this is the 2nd time I leave Ralph's ... and my dual electric fan controller FAILS.
Also, the 1st fuel pressure regulator was sent back to Summit because it had a HUGE/DEEP scratch dug across the front of it ... now the NEW replacement FINALLY get installed today ... and it leaks fuel. LOL
The fuel pressure gauge on the current regulator reads @ 6-1/2-psi of fuel ... the gauge on the hood reads 9-psi of fuel. The hood mounted fuel pressure gauge is plumbed in AFTER the fuel pressure regulator.

A pitbull was raped and murdered in Thuston County, Washington last week. The animal was found hanging from a tree, with its feet just out of reach of the ground, on Department of Natural Resources land. A mountain biker came across the macabre scene while cycling through the property.
