Chris Downey is an American writer and producer.
Downey first rose to prominence as a writer on the hit TV show, Cosby. From there, his work started to get noticed, and he got pick up to write for several other shows, including Oh, Grow Up, and What about Joan. From there, he got asked to produce other shows, among which notable work includes The King of Queens and currently running show Leverage. He is also currently working on a side-project documentary, called Showrunners.
Chris Downey was born in Santa Monica, California. Before working in television, Downey was a defense attorney in New York, dealing mainly in white-collar crime. He also worked as a reporter for The Associated Press, and the Knight-Ridder newspapers. After working as an executive producer on The King of Queens for six years, Downey made the move to produce Leverage, a still running TV series.
Downey is currently a writer and an executive producer on the TV show, Leverage, which is currently entering its fifth season, and for which he is one of the co-creators. Downey recently stated that he feels the biggest challenge with the show, is constantly having to come up with new challenges and cons for the crew, as he feels, they have done so many already.
