PPStream - Watch Free Streaming Movies Part 1 - Ubuntu 9.10
This project provides a set of plugins for gstreamer and totem (gst-plugins-pps and totem-pps) for linux users. The gst-plugins-pps enables gstreamer powered media player to play ppstream streamings such as the url which has a prefix "tvod://" or "pps://" . And totem-pps adds a kan.pps.tv play list to totem. With both plugins installed, you can browser and play videos from kan.pps.tv with totem. PPA: launchpad.net official site: code.google.com Movie Player Totem install package : libpps libppswrapper gst-plugins-pps totem-pps ppstream vids: kan.pps.tv firefox user: greasemonkey: addons.mozilla.org pps script for firefox : userscripts.org install package: totem-mozilla PPStream is a Chinese peer-to-peer streaming video network software. Since the target user is in Chinese mainland, there is no official English version, and vast majority of channels are from Eastern Asia, mostly Mainland China, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Channel varieties vary from Chinese movies to Japanese anime, sports channels, as well as American popular TV and films. It can broadcast TV programs stably and smoothly to broadband users. Compared to traditional stream media, PPStream adopts P2P-streaming technology and supports high-volume traffic with tens of thousands of users online at once.

Kangaroo Island, South Australia
Separated from the Australian mainland about 9000 years ago, Kangaroo Island remains one of the most unspoilt natural wonders of the world. You'll find seals basking on quiet beaches; koalas munching on gum trees; echidnas wandering in search of insects; and kangaroos, goannas, wallabies, penguins and birds at just about every turn. One third of the island is protected as conservation and national parks, and half the island has never been cleared of native vegetation. You can walk among huge weather-sculptured granite boulders at Remarkable Rocks and roll down the white sand dunes of Little Sahara. Dodge the wildlife as you hike through bushland. Stretch out in your own secret spot along the island's 480 kilometres of coastline. And retire to your own lighthouse keeper's cottage for the night. Kangaroo Island is a 30-minute flight south from Adelaide, or less than two-and-a-half hours by car and ferry. Kangaroo Island Sealink runs ferries between Cape Jervis (90 minutes drive south of Adelaide) and Penneshaw. At 150 kilometres long and 55 kilometres wide, the island is Australia's third largest. It has four town centres: Kingscote, Penneshaw, Parndana and American River. A coach service runs twice daily between Kingscote, American River and Penneshaw to connect with ferry services (but bookings are necessary). There's a major sealed road right around the island, but many smaller roads are narrow, unsealed and edged with scrub. Driving by day or night, take it easy and ...

Killer Whales, Shetland Islands, 17th July 2011
Great encounter with a pod of Killer Whales yesterday. The light and visibility were poor, so decided to use the opportunity to experiment with video rather than take still photos. This video is a quick and rough edit of the resulting footage. Filmed at three different locations - Clumlie, Boddam and Grutness - in the south mainland of the Shetland Islands, 17th July 2011.

NBN Mainland switch on at Armidale
CLOSED CAPTIONS TO COME The city of Armidale in rural New South Wales today celebrated becoming the first centre in mainland Australia to receive the National Broadband Network. The Prime Minister presided over the switch-on of the superfast fibre optic broadband services to selected Armidale residents at an official ceremony this morning. The NBN will in the coming months enable an increasing number of residents, businesses, and medical and educational facilities in the Armidale First Release Site to receive broadband at speeds of up to 100 Megabits per second*. Residents are progressively being connected to the network as part of the customer trials by four telecommunications providers who have already completed the certification process: iiNet, Internode, iPrimus and Telstra. The handful of Armidale customers who have been trialling the service over the past month now join those already connected to the network in Tasmania, where the three communities of Midway Point, Smithton and Scottsdale were brought online in August last year. This test phase is a critical step in building the network, working with telecommunications providers and integrating our operating systems as we aim to provide the best possible service throughout the future rollout. The launch featured demonstrations of education, health and business applications that will be enabled by the NBN as well as testimonials from some of the first Armidale customers connected to the network. Absolute Body Control
Epopoeia of the Food and Drink of the United States (A Dream in Hell)
1
Beautiful like a baby calf is the song of chicken fried with batter,
the long red and white picnic tablecloth is finer than the finest lady’s legs, the finest thing there is to embark upon a heaping bowl of coleslaw,
shrimp from the gulf coast are delicious, gushing with wine as if feeling,
like honey mussels, in Redmond or Olympia, harvested by fishwives, in the seaweed,
and the glory of banjos in Baton Rouge, their juices course through them like
ageless autumn lemons,
like mom's fragrant pot pie, chocked full of juicy stew, widens the gullet,
and, baked, cries out blooming peach tree blossoms.
2
What would you say to some barbecue ribs, burning hot
grilled on a charcoal fire in June on the banks of a man made lake,
pines or cedar trees that sum up the dramatic atmosphere of a
damp sunset at Lake Lanier or Stone Mountain,
or to a clam chowder, whose name is inextricably related to Manhattan or
Rhode Island or New England?
No, you hunt quail and you grill it, just like you hear honky-tonk or stars and stripes
at the feet of Mount Rushmore, and fried catfish along the Chattahoochee
where it leaps into the sacred sizzling skillet, superbly fine
river fish, makes fishing boats rich while the sisters Lee,
as if in pain, sweat what's human and divine on the grand antique family fiddle.
3
Tremendous turkeys that smell like summer, almost human, autumn shades of
walnut or chestnut, I eat them everywhere, and in D.C. I kiss them,
like the vats where barley sighs like the prettiest girl in Jersey
raising her skirt underneath the lights of the big apple, same
as the roof off of a block party with streamers and flags where we drink in red plastic cups
a substantial whiskey and beer,
or the love mattress, upon which we set sail and sighing face each other and
the night’s tremendous oceans, into whose horrible darkness,
black and tenacious flows the bloody calla lily,
or the teardrop that falls in our moths as we joyfully sing.
4
Napa Valley wine is enormous and dark in the California sunset, and when
it's in your blood, nostalgia
and the apology to heroism sing in the wheels of spurs to
the beast’s hide, dancing to the fundamental tune of backwater rapids
against the frothy red glare.
5
Nicely aged bourbon bellows in its cellars like a great sacred cow,
and St. Louis will be golden, like a rib-eye on the grill, all over
the bloodied paths towards Oklahoma, autumn's
guitar will weep like a soldier's widow,
and we'll remember everything we didn’t do and could have and
should have and wanted to, like a madman
staring down a town's abandoned well,
watching, ear shattering, the engines of youth rev down dawn's
wide gust
crumbling like memories in the abyss.
6
The saddle glows all across the Midwest, mountain range to mountain range, booming like a great combine with its 20 foot span, booming
like a cow auctioneer or a righteous pastor or tornado season,
lasso raised up against the sky
on top of a guffaw, a hyuck or a yeehaw, splashed with sun and hard work, where manure perfumes dung heaps like a domestic god, with tremendous balls like a widow.
7
A mighty log cabin with its open yard, apple trees, front porch
scented with remote antiquity,
where the bootlegger and his still would sing, drop by drop, a sense of eternity into
the water, recalling old ancestors with its tremulous pendulum,
exists, same as in Madison as in Franklin or Fairview or Springfield,
although it’s the little town of Hodgenville Kentucky that most proudly proclaims the wooden troughs or pig iron pots, wide open spaces, the Appalachians, the original wild west, civil war and emancipation, in little log cabins,
from Tennessee to Ohio, who express it proudly in tremendous language, eating ears of pigs eating ears of corn.
8
Because, if it's necessary to stuff yourself with hot dogs in a Detroit Coney before dying,
on a rainy day, blessed with a strawberry milkshake from fresh upstate dairy, and smoke, bathing in conversation, friends and the munchies, launching yourself into terrible leaps and bounds, blubbering, savoring the booming chili in spoonfuls and fries,
it's also necessary to get your meat from the Kansas City stockyards in March, when the pigs
look like televangelists and the televangelists look like swine or hippopotamus,
and wash the food down with some fiery sips from a short glass,
yes... in Dallas or Fort Worth the corn tortillas look like the local ladies: wide white waists and sleepy half moon eyes, since, ticklish and cuddly,
they turn their faces, and let themselves be kissed, unendingly on either end.
9
And the chit'lins, swimming and searing in broth and tabasco, and the cornbread that moaned in broiling bacon fat, is blessed where thunder rolls in wide whips, along the Mississippi, between one drink and the next,
but it never surpasses a gamy partridge, savored in the dry underbrush of July,

Apologies for some dodgy bits of sound in this video: something weird happened in the conversion process and I don't have time to fix it as I'm heading to the mountains tomorrow.
Also I don't know why two blank minutes have appeared at the end. Life's too short for perfection!
The Shetland Isles lie 100 miles north of the British mainland. We travelled there on the overnight ferry in the week of the summer solstice and then rode and paddled from the south of the islands all the way north.

New $330 Million Road to the Florida Keys Open
A new $330 million road connecting the South Florida mainland with the Florida Keys is finished and opened. The new "18-Mile Stretch" is a segment of US Highway 1 between Florida City and Key Largo. Officials said the new road features numerous safety, environmental and aesthetic enhancements for residents and visitors. A concrete median barrier, painted Belize blue as recommended by marine life artist Wyland, stretches almost the entire length of the road and is already reducing the number of serious vehicular accidents. "Number one is safety and we will be able to eliminate 10 to 14 critical accidents a year," said Gus Pego, Florida Department of Transportation's District 6 Secretary. Environmental features include almost 20 culverts and underpasses for animals such as crocodiles and Florida panthers to cross safely under the road. Elimination of a land causeway that once bisected Lake Surprise has restored natural water flow to Florida Bay. Outside shoulders and berms were built to prevent road pollutants from washing into Florida Bay. The project's iconic element, the 1.25-mile-long, 65-foot-high Jewfish Creek Bridge, completed in May 2008, has created a more impressive visual driving approach to the Florida Keys. "The new 'Stretch' has completely changed the driving experience into the Florida Keys," said Monroe County Mayor Heather Carruthers, who is also a member of the region's tourism council. "Not only is it much safer, but when you come over the top of the new ...

Inchon Bridge, South Korea
The Incheon Bridge (also called the Incheon Long Bridge) is a newly-constructed bridge in South Korea. At its opening in October 2009, it became the second connection between Yeongjong Island and the mainland of Incheon. The 21.38 kilometres (13.3 mi) long highway project consisted of government-built sections at three ends and a 12.34 kilometres (7.7 mi) section in the middle build with private capital, the bridge section is 18384 metres (60315 ft) long. The bridge has a cable stayed section over the main sea route to Incheon port. This was the most difficult part to construct, with a main tower 230.5 metres (756.2 ft) high, vertical clearance of 74 m (243 ft), and five spans: a centre span of 800 m (2625 ft) flanked on either side by spans of 260 m (853 ft) and 80 m (262 ft). Adjacent to the center section are approach spans consisting of a series of 150 m (492 ft) balanced cantilever spans. Lower level viaducts consisting of 50 m (164 ft) spans connect to land at each end of the bridge. The bridge cost over USD$1.4 billion (~1.25 trillion Won) to build. The main purpose of the bridge is to provide direct access between Songdo and Incheon International Airport, reducing travel time between them by up to one hour.

Tierra del Fuego
Recorded February 24-25, 2009. Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland, across the Strait of Magellan. The archipelago consists of a main island Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego divided between Chile and Argentina with an area of 18572 square miles, and a group of smaller islands including Cape Horn. Initially discovered by Ferdinand Magellan's expedition in 1520, the islands were not settled by people of European descent until the second half of the 19th century at the height of the sheep farming and gold rush booms. The video begins as we sail around Cape Horn and up the Beagle Channel on the Star Princess. After docking in Ushuaia, Argentina I take a drive through the Andes Mountains and embark on a wildlife cruise in the Beagle Channel. From: timvp.com
