Commons made an explosive start to his Celtic career, scoring in the fifth minute of his debut against Aberdeen in the Co-Operative Insurance Cup semi-final at Hampden just a day after joining the club. He has proved to have an eye for a spectacular strike throughout his career, which started at Stoke, included a spell at Nottingham Forest and three seasons at Derby County. The attacker bagged 14 goals in his first six months in Paradise and never requires an invitation to try his luck from distance. He has continued that form ever since, and has proved to be one of Celtic's main threats in front of goal, despite often playing off the striker or on the wing. Commons also scored the fastest SPL goal after just 12.2 seconds against Aberdeen in March 2013, beating Stokes' previously record of 12.4 seconds. In season 2013/14, Commons was Celtic's top goalscorer, scoring 32 goals for the season and being named Scotland's Player of the Year. This campaign, Commons has continued his goal-scoring form, opening his account for the season against Dundee United as well as scoring a crucial goal in the UEFA Europa League against Dinamo Zagreb.
