STORYLINE
London became the latest major
European city on Friday to introduce a cycle-hire scheme, amid accusations that the
British version is considerably more expensive than its continental counterparts.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson launched the scheme, which provides five thousand bicycles at 315 docking stations around the British capital.
The new bicycles were, on the whole, well received by Londoners.
Residents say the scheme is practical and good value for money.
