Classic Game Room reviews the NINTENDO GAMECUBE videogame console from Nintendo released in 2001. This CGR video review of the Nintendo GameCube hardware shows the black Nintendo Gamecube and silver Gamecube controller. This GameCube has the Game Boy Adapter which player Gameboy videogames, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color. The GameCube was a competitor to the Sony Playstation 2, Xbox and Sega Dreamcast. Many of the popular GameCube games can be easily found today like Metroid Prime, Mario Kart Double Dash and Resident Evil 4. The Nintendo Gamecube is Nintendo's first primary optical disc based video game console and it uses memory cards. Gamecube games can be played on the Nintendo Wii today.

The Nintendo GameCube (ニンテンドーゲームキューブ, Nintendō Gēmukyūbu?), officially abbreviated to NGC in Japan and GCN in other regions, is a sixth generation video game console released by Nintendo on September 15, 2001 in Japan, November 18, 2001 in North America, May 3, 2002 in Europe, and May 17, 2002 in Australia. It was the successor to the Nintendo 64.
The GameCube sold 21.74 million units worldwide, and was discontinued on February 22, 2007. Its successor, the Wii was released in November 2006.
The Nintendo GameCube was the first Nintendo console to use optical discs as its primary storage medium, after several aborted projects from Nintendo and its partners to utilize optical-based storage media. In contrast with the GameCube's contemporary competitors, Sony's PlayStation 2, Sega's Dreamcast and Microsoft's Xbox, the GameCube uses miniDVD-based discs instead of full-size DVDs. Partially as a result of this, it does not have the DVD-Video playback functionality of these systems, nor the audio CD playback ability of other consoles that use full-size optical discs.

This CGR video review of the Nintendo GameCube hardware shows the black Nintendo Gamecube and silver Gamecube controller. Everything you already knew about the Nintendo GameCube and less!
This video was meant to be up on the September 14, 2011, as that is the 10th anniversary of the GameCube being released in Japan, but technical issues prevented that from happening. Thus ruining the whole point of this. Not really! So, it's a day late, but basically, I like the GameCube a lot, and like collecting the consoles, so its 10th anniversary/birthday was my excuse for making an extremely long and boring video about the console. There's nothing in here that you didn't already know. Even the three different startup sounds are easily found on YouTube. But I put them in anyway. Classic Game Room reviews the NINTENDO GAMECUBE videogame console from Nintendo released in 2001. This CGR video review of the Nintendo GameCube hardware shows the black Nintendo Gamecube and silver Gamecube controller. This GameCube has the Game Boy Adapter which player Gameboy videogames, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color. The GameCube was a competitor to the Sony Playstation 2, Xbox and Sega Dreamcast. Many of the popular GameCube games can be easily found today like Metroid Prime, Mario Kart Double Dash and Resident Evil 4. This video was meant to be up on the September 14, 2011, as that is the 10th anniversary of the GameCube being released in Japan, but technical issues prevented that from happening. Thus ruining the whole point of this. Not really!
So, it's a day late, but basically, I like the GameCube a lot, and like collecting the consoles, so its 10th anniversary/birthday was my excuse for making an extremely long and boring video about the console.
There's nothing in here that you didn't already know. Even the three different startup sounds are easily found on YouTube. But I put them in anyway. They made for nice ways to split up the video. :)
BTW, the first alternate startup is done by holding the Z button on the controller in port 1 while starting up. The other startup music requires having four controllers plugged in and holding Z on ALL of the while turning the console on. Whew.
Well, I won't let this description get as long as the video. If there is even a way to directly compare the length of a video to the length of text. The video moves at a fixed pace for everyone, but people all read at different rates. So who can say how long it took you to get this far in the description. Could've been days, I don't know. If it has been that long, please...that's enough. Step away from the computer and get a glass of water, you are probably dehydrated.

These are presented for informational purposes and with extensive commentary. I mean, the whole video is commentary. I just don't shut up.
Any other background music was created by me, Nice and Games, and it is crappy, but is also free from any copyrighted material.

Despite the fact that the GameCube is frowned upon by some and seen as the least successful console of the sixth video game generation, I think that it has man...
Despite the fact that the GameCube is frowned upon by some and seen as the least successful console of the sixth video game generation, I think that it has many redeeming factors and games that some people unfortunately overlook! In this video I will be taking a look at the everything related to the Nintendo GameCube, including the console's features, the many peripherals that were available for it, and of course the games and how their cases looked much different in Japan! I also explain what the Digital Output port on the back of the console is for that very few people have actually used.
It is a shame that the GameCube didn't do too well though, although I guess that part of the reason for that is that the PlayStation 2 had DVD playback abilities which made it very popular (along with the great library of games that the PS2 has of course) as well as the fact that the Microsoft Xbox (one?) had incredible online playing capabilities which were revolutionary at the time. The thing that has always put the GameCube on top for me though is the line up of games that it had. With things like Super Mario Sunshine, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and tons more the GameCube has consumed more hours of my life than almost any other console! Even today I enjoy going back and replaying many of these games just as much as I did when they were first released over ten years ago!
So I hope that you enjoy my review as I talk not only about the Game Cube hardware and software but also about some of my memories of playing it as well! Please feel free to post your comments below regarding what you think of the GameCube, and what some of your favourite games for it are!

Despite the fact that the GameCube is frowned upon by some and seen as the least successful console of the sixth video game generation, I think that it has many redeeming factors and games that some people unfortunately overlook! In this video I will be taking a look at the everything related to the Nintendo GameCube, including the console's features, the many peripherals that were available for it, and of course the games and how their cases looked much different in Japan! I also explain what the Digital Output port on the back of the console is for that very few people have actually used.
It is a shame that the GameCube didn't do too well though, although I guess that part of the reason for that is that the PlayStation 2 had DVD playback abilities which made it very popular (along with the great library of games that the PS2 has of course) as well as the fact that the Microsoft Xbox (one?) had incredible online playing capabilities which were revolutionary at the time. The thing that has always put the GameCube on top for me though is the line up of games that it had. With things like Super Mario Sunshine, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and tons more the GameCube has consumed more hours of my life than almost any other console! Even today I enjoy going back and replaying many of these games just as much as I did when they were first released over ten years ago!
