The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent that forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan. It is the world's 17th largest desert, and the world's 9th largest subtropical desert. About 85% of the Thar Desert is in India, and the remaining part in Pakistan. In India, it covers about 320,000 km2 (120,000 sq mi), of which 60% is in Rajasthan and extends into Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana. This desert comprises a very dry part, the Marusthali region in the west, and a semidesert region in the east with less sand dunes and slightly more precipitation.

the thar-or great indian-desert is the most densely populated desert in the world and has been
inhabited for thousands of years. huge windblown seas of sand dominate the desert with some dunes
reaching close to 500 feet in height. extreme temperature shifts, from near freezing to more than
120 degrees, make life difficult for all who call the thar home. the thar desert is situated partly
in india and partly in pakistan. in india the thar desert extends from the sutlej river in the north
& northeast, surrounded by the aravalli range on the southeast, on the south by the salt marsh known
as the rann of kutch (parts of which are sometimes included in the thar), and on the west by the
indus river plains.
This exclusive show contains rare footage of hitherto unseen parts of Thar Desert in Rajasthan, including areas of shifting sand dunes along India-Pakistan border & traces of Mysterious Saraswati River that many believe still flow few feet below the burning desert.

People living in the Thar Desert region of Pakistan near the border with India, experience frequent periods of severe drought. During protracted drought periods many families move to barrage areas (adjacent to canals) for survival. Many fall into debt and have to sell their animals for low prices or seek employment in towns far from their homes.

This is a short documentary of our trek for ten days into the Thar Desert from Jaisalmer, an ancient city in Rajasthan, India. With just three camels; Papu, Lalu, and Babaloo and our trusted guide Rhman, we set out with all the food and water necessary for the foray. We trekked about 20 km per day going 7 to 8 hours on camel back. We slept on top of the dunes at night and battled dung beetles and the occasional snake. The people of the desert are incredibly hospitable and friendly and we had some amazing interactions. We got to know our camels intimately as well as our guide a hard working man who is passionate about life.

My Journey to Thar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8zaJ-eDHVc well video was just shot in the starting of Trip, & what i had experienced in next 25 Hours i can,t describe it in totality,its infallible, & no camera can shot it except my own eyes ,utter bliss to make me cry, terror, Beauty & Nuclear bomb exploded inside my Skull. while facing Sun & as i closed my eyes ,i see Supreme light ,its Greatness is beyond words ,i had never
seen anything brighter, & beautiful than that , i become one with Supreme,all thoughts cease to exist at that moment ,i lost memory of Track , it was Pure Divine Bliss, it
encompass all existence , after that vision of Supreme only a single thought come in my mind, that now Even if Death will kill
me i dont care & but in those moments of awe & wonder in Praise i lift my hands towards Universe. Than a musician cm near me & played flute, my Thar Desert Trip was the most BEAUTIFUL and yet FRIGHTNING experience of my life, i spend whole day from Noon 12 & whole night in Thar Desert,in night time beautiful Milky way Galaxy was shining,stars were dancing on Trance, i was Alone in whole Thar Desert ( was fearful too but i fight fear ) with lots of Scorpion ,insects ,they bite hell out of me lolz,snakes come in Desert not now but in may ,june haa hee but i will advice Tripping in Desert is not for everyone ,it can be tough,as body need proper nourishment water while tripping, & my water got finished in evening ,in morning i drank 2 Jugs of water , i bear hotness of desert as well as cold in night,i was lying in desert with love for mother Desert and was shaking with cold as mor was approaching, .The Dose was very Strong & Visions were like
anything spectular i had seen ever seen,knowledge ,beauty & Universal Love, as well as Death & Destruction, lolz it was all
Paradoxical, and i was wrong , we can learn a lot , from a Bad Trip, bad trip is not really bad trip, it is Good Trip & finally next morning i see sunrise & i see camel coming
towards me he was shining like Gold than i do camel
riding but got into debate with camel owner that camel should nt feel
discomfort & u need to love him a lot,still tripping, as i came out
of Desert, everyone was laughing , face full of dust,but Acid let u
fight your fears, so i sit with those villagers,I drink Tea,as one bad
boy ask me what is your caste ? i said i don,t believe in all this, he
make my fun , but in end i said a Human being is a Human being,& he
was silent,but it is my advice that while tripping please avoid negative
people, things can turn bad , as i reached Jaisalmer city from
sam,there too people were laughing,some also scare off as my face was
full of sand dust, & eyes were Red like red light.when i see my face
in mirror of hotel , i got scared , .but i can see the
magic, of being polite, magic of softening my ego, things were not touching me, i was smiling, was lost into Trance, i was feeling kind of affection who so ever i observe
in the city from animals to Humans, all living beings.
Lessons Learned
i achieved not some Ego Death after Trip, but Ego softening.
That when u hurt a living being
u hurt your own soul
when u love a living being
u love your own own soul
that when u behave badly with someone, you did,t harm him actually, u
left a impression, and if the impression is bad, it harm your own
soul,and u will smell very badly lolz ,even those who love u will turn u
down,but if u love all, smile always, even your enemies will calm down,
& u will spread your Fragrance every where , all will love u & u
will love all.
Therefore i will say sorry to all those Human beings whom i had hurted
in the Past...and if you had done so, than go for it because after
sometime there will be nothing left but regret..i forgive everyone who
so ever had hurted me , and i forgive myself for hurting them, but if
make your soul strong, nothing in this Universe can hurt u, u are ATMAN,
u are Brahman, u are Universe.
That Love &; Happiness, kindness are Strongest weapons in the
world,not war weapons, look at the life of King Ashoka, his biography
was in my front me when i was Tripping & i cried out, and i decide
that i will try to spread Smile & love as much i can in this
Universe.
i learned what Leary had said " If you want to change the way people
respond to u, change the way u respond to people "
if u look in eyes of any living beings ,deeply ,they are craving for
Love, so lets spread it in the whole world as much as we can,although it
is not possible to make everyone Happy but we can try our best to
minimize pain and Increase Happiness.
i realize earlier i was what ?? i was so wrong, so wrong,and i need to
Transform myself for better , i need to change myself .and now i am
feeling strong, things which were hurting me before, is not even
touching me , and i am feeling Love for all living beings lolz,it is
blasting from my nerves.Love u all,lets Smile,lets make earth Heaven
lets love each other to our best that is my message to the whole world

The Thar Desert (Rajasthani: थार मरुधर, Hindi:थार मरुस्थल, Urdu (Urdu: تھر صحرا also known as the Great Indian Desert) is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent and forms a natural boundary running along the border between India and Pakistan. With an area of more than 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi), it is the world's 9th largest subtropical desert.
It lies mostly in the Indian State of Rajasthan, and extends into the northern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into southern Gujarat state. In Pakistan, the desert covers eastern Sindh province and the southeastern portion of Pakistan's Punjab province. The Cholistan Desert adjoins the Thar desert spreading into Pakistani Punjab province.
In India the Thar Desert (also known as the Great Indian Desert) extends from the Sutlej River, surrounded by the Aravalli Ranges on the east, on the south by the salt marsh known as the Great Rann of Kutch (parts of which are sometimes included in the Thar), and on the west by the Indus River. Its boundary to the large thorny steppe to the north is ill-defined, about 3/5th of the total geographical area of the State.
In Pakistan, the desert covers eastern Sindh and the southeastern portion of Punjab, Pakistan. The Tharparkar District is one of the major parts of the desert area. Tharparkar consists of two words: Thar means ‘desert’ while Parkar stands for ‘the other side’.

The Thar Desert - Deserts and Life
The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent that forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan. It is the world's 17th largest desert, and the world's 9th largest subtropical desert. About 85% of the Thar Desert is in India, and the remaining part in Pakistan. In India, it covers about 320,000 km2 (120,000 sq mi), of which 60% is in Rajasthan and extends into Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana. This desert comprises a very dry part, the Marusthali region in the west, and a semidesert region in the east with less sand dunes and slightly more precipitation. People living in the Thar Desert region of Pakistan near the border with India, experience frequent periods of severe drought. During protracted drought periods many families move to barrage areas (adjacent to canals) for survival. Many fall into debt and have to sell their animals for low prices or seek employment in towns far from their homes. Ten Day Camel Safari, Thar Desert Rajasthan
This is a short documentary of our trek for ten days into the Thar Desert from Jaisalmer, an ancient city in Rajasthan, India. With just three camels; Papu, Lalu, and Babaloo and our trusted guide Rhman, we set out with all the food and water necessary for the foray. We trekked about 20 km per day going 7 to 8 hours on camel back. We slept on top of the dunes at night and battled dung beetles and the occasional snake. The people of the desert are incredibly hospitable and friendly and we had some amazing interactions. We got to know our camels intimately as well as our guide a hard working man who is passionate about life. -

An Indian snake charmer performs (on green-screen) purportedly in the Thar Desert, Rajasthan, India. This snake charmer belongs to Kalbelia tribe of India. The Kalbelias were known for their frequent movement from one place to another in ancient times. Their main occupation is catching snakes and trading snake venom. It is the world's 17th largest desert, and the world's 9th largest subtropical desert. About 85% of the Thar Desert is in India, and the remaining part in Pakistan. In India, it covers about 320,000 km2 (120,000 sq mi), of which 60% is in Rajasthan and extends into Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana. This desert comprises a very dry part, the Marusthali region in the west, and a semidesert region in the east with less sand dunes and slightly more precipitation.

This is a short documentary of our trek for ten days into the Thar Desert from Jaisalmer, an ancient city in Rajasthan, India. With just three camels; Papu, Lalu, and Babaloo and our trusted guide Rhman, we set out with all the food and water necessary for the foray. We trekked about 20 km per day going 7 to 8 hours on camel back. We slept on top of the dunes at night and battled dung beetles and the occasional snake. The people of the desert are incredibly hospitable and friendly and we had some amazing interactions. We got to know our camels intimately as well as our guide a hard working man who is passionate about life.

My Journey to Thar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8zaJ-eDHVc well video was just shot in the starting of Trip, & what i had experienced in next 25 Hours i can,t describe it in totality,its infallible, & no camera can shot it except my own eyes ,utter bliss to make me cry, terror, Beauty & Nuclear bomb exploded inside my Skull. while facing Sun & as i closed my eyes ,i see Supreme light ,its Greatness is beyond words ,i had never
seen anything brighter, & beautiful than that , i become one with Supreme,all thoughts cease to exist at that moment ,i lost memory of Track , it was Pure Divine Bliss, it
encompass all existence , after that vision of Supreme only a single thought come in my mind, that now Even if Death will kill
me i dont care & but in those moments of awe & wonder in Praise i lift my hands towards Universe. Than a musician cm near me & played flute, my Thar Desert Trip was the most BEAUTIFUL and yet FRIGHTNING experience of my life, i spend whole day from Noon 12 & whole night in Thar Desert,in night time beautiful Milky way Galaxy was shining,stars were dancing on Trance, i was Alone in whole Thar Desert ( was fearful too but i fight fear ) with lots of Scorpion ,insects ,they bite hell out of me lolz,snakes come in Desert not now but in may ,june haa hee but i will advice Tripping in Desert is not for everyone ,it can be tough,as body need proper nourishment water while tripping, & my water got finished in evening ,in morning i drank 2 Jugs of water , i bear hotness of desert as well as cold in night,i was lying in desert with love for mother Desert and was shaking with cold as mor was approaching, .The Dose was very Strong & Visions were like
anything spectular i had seen ever seen,knowledge ,beauty & Universal Love, as well as Death & Destruction, lolz it was all
Paradoxical, and i was wrong , we can learn a lot , from a Bad Trip, bad trip is not really bad trip, it is Good Trip & finally next morning i see sunrise & i see camel coming
towards me he was shining like Gold than i do camel
riding but got into debate with camel owner that camel should nt feel
discomfort & u need to love him a lot,still tripping, as i came out
of Desert, everyone was laughing , face full of dust,but Acid let u
fight your fears, so i sit with those villagers,I drink Tea,as one bad
boy ask me what is your caste ? i said i don,t believe in all this, he
make my fun , but in end i said a Human being is a Human being,& he
was silent,but it is my advice that while tripping please avoid negative
people, things can turn bad , as i reached Jaisalmer city from
sam,there too people were laughing,some also scare off as my face was
full of sand dust, & eyes were Red like red light.when i see my face
in mirror of hotel , i got scared , .but i can see the
magic, of being polite, magic of softening my ego, things were not touching me, i was smiling, was lost into Trance, i was feeling kind of affection who so ever i observe
in the city from animals to Humans, all living beings.
Lessons Learned
i achieved not some Ego Death after Trip, but Ego softening.
That when u hurt a living being
u hurt your own soul
when u love a living being
u love your own own soul
that when u behave badly with someone, you did,t harm him actually, u
left a impression, and if the impression is bad, it harm your own
soul,and u will smell very badly lolz ,even those who love u will turn u
down,but if u love all, smile always, even your enemies will calm down,
& u will spread your Fragrance every where , all will love u & u
will love all.
Therefore i will say sorry to all those Human beings whom i had hurted
in the Past...and if you had done so, than go for it because after
sometime there will be nothing left but regret..i forgive everyone who
so ever had hurted me , and i forgive myself for hurting them, but if
make your soul strong, nothing in this Universe can hurt u, u are ATMAN,
u are Brahman, u are Universe.
That Love &; Happiness, kindness are Strongest weapons in the
world,not war weapons, look at the life of King Ashoka, his biography
was in my front me when i was Tripping & i cried out, and i decide
that i will try to spread Smile & love as much i can in this
Universe.
i learned what Leary had said " If you want to change the way people
respond to u, change the way u respond to people "
if u look in eyes of any living beings ,deeply ,they are craving for
Love, so lets spread it in the whole world as much as we can,although it
is not possible to make everyone Happy but we can try our best to
minimize pain and Increase Happiness.
i realize earlier i was what ?? i was so wrong, so wrong,and i need to
Transform myself for better , i need to change myself .and now i am
feeling strong, things which were hurting me before, is not even
touching me , and i am feeling Love for all living beings lolz,it is
blasting from my nerves.Love u all,lets Smile,lets make earth Heaven
lets love each other to our best that is my message to the whole world

An Indian snake charmer performs (on green-screen) purportedly in the Thar Desert, Rajasthan, India.
This snake charmer belongs to Kalbelia tribe of India. The Kalbelias were known for their frequent movement from one place to another in ancient times. Their main occupation is catching snakes and trading snake venom. Hence, the dance movements and the costumes of their community bear a resemblance to that of the serpents. They are also known as Sapera, Jogira or Jogi. They follow Hindu religion. They trace their ancestry from Kanlipar, the 12th disciple of Guru Gorakhnath.
The Thar Desert is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent and forms a natural boundary running along the border between India and Pakistan. With an area of more than 200,000 km2 (77,000 sq mi), within the Indian state of Rajasthan, covering the districts of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner and Jodhpur, and some region of the states of Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat. it is the world's 9th largest subtropical desert.
Thar Desert extends from the Sutlej River, surrounded by the Aravalli Ranges on the east, on the south by the salt marsh known as the Great Rann of Kutch (parts of which are sometimes included in the Thar), and on the west by the Indus River. Its boundary to the large thorny steppe to the north is ill-defined. It lies mostly in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state.

This is a video showcasing the camel safari I took across the Thar Desert located near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. The 4 day safari was an amazing experience and my camel guide and his nephew were wonderful hosts. They took me to Gypsy villages, secluded sections of the desert and other areas which I would have never seen on a typical tour. When you think India, if you think spicy food, snake charmers, dodging cows, the Taj Mahal, and total chaos- you’re thinking about Northern India. It's an adventure waiting to happen, and will leave you wondering why it only accounts for 1% of world tourism.
Join Ricky Moreno as he explores Delhi, Rajasthan, Agra, Rishikesh, and Varanasi.
Welcome to Delhi. Say goodbye to your personal space. It’s crowded, it’s overwhelming, and definitely exhausting. One day here can feel like an entire week. The only way you’ll have any fun is to just put down the Purell and join the party.
Instead of going straight to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, first I head west to hang with some locals in Rajasthan. Here, the people are welcoming, the desert is sprawling, and the camels command the streets. And it turns out that the cows aren’t the only things Hindus hold sacred.
Karni Mata Rat Temple. Over 20,000 rats call this Hindu temple home, and Indians come here to pay their respects, as these rats are believed to be the reincarnations of ancestors. Shoes aren’t allowed inside, so plan ahead and bring two pairs of socks, and if you’re brave enough, it’s considered an honor to share a bowl of milk with the rats.
Most travelers who come to Jaisalmer opt for the camel safari across the Thar Desert, leading you to a good spot to view the sun setting over the Pakistani border, which happens to be heavily armed, so always keep your cool.
The food is awesome. It completely blew me away. I honestly don’t know much about Indian food, and half the time I didn’t know what I was ordering, but with the intense spices and pungent flavors, every meal seemed to be better than the next, from high end restaurants to local cafes. TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet usually hit the mark with their recommendations, and asking for whatever the chef recommends almost always rewarded me with a memorable meal.
Get on a bus and head north, and you’ll eventually reach Rishikesh- a city where you won’t find meat on any menu, and is overrun by hippie backpackers, weird yoga people, and unruly monkeys. It’s the gateway to the Himalayas.
Oh my God whatever you do.. don’t feed the monkeys. Rabies is a very serious risk in India, and medical treatment to prevent it is very long, and very painful.
After experiencing my share of incredible extremes here in India, my journey brings me to Varanasi, Hindu’s most holy city on the banks its most holy river, The Ganges. Varanasi is a city that was built on and still thrives on traditions. Traditions that may seem strange and shocking, at first, but spend enough time here and you’ll come to appreciate the power of this place.
For many people, Varanasi is their final resting place. Hindus believe that dying here will release you from the cycle of rebirth. For families that can afford it, elaborate cremation ceremonies are carried out in publi c view along the river, their ashes being released into the water. For the vast majority, however, bodies are weighted with stones and sunk to the bottom. These traditions are in harmony with daily bathing rituals- a ritual that is said to remove sins and purify souls.

Many historic landmarks such as the Lal Qila, the Red Fort, are a reminder of the city’s glorious past. Due to its numerous magnificent historic buildings, Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is one of the most beautiful and impressive cities in the region. The facade of the city’s most famous landmark, the Palace Of The Winds, is one of the most photographed sights in India. Around forty-two kilometres west of Jaisalmer the Desert National Park helps visitors to experience the natural beauty of the remote Thar Desert. At night the inhabitants of the desert, accompanied by traditional and exotic sounds, display the oriental side of their culture. Traditional music and dance are part of the nocturnal ambience of the desert and create an evocative scene straight out of the One Thousand And One Nights. With around seven hundred thousand inhabitants Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan. The Meherangarh Museum contains an extensive collection of historic objects that once belonged to the rulers of Jodhpur. Agra is the most popular tourist destination in India. Between 1630 and 1653 Shah Jahan built a unique monument here that is one of the most famous buildings in the world, the Taj Mahal, a magnificent example of Mughal architecture that is synonymous with India itself. Tigers : They may or may not be present in all the tiger reserves but your chances of seeing a tiger are fairly good in Bandhavgarh or Ranthambore tiger reserves.

Hill Stations: India is home to some remarkable, scenic and gorgeous hill stations such as Shimla, Mussorie, Darjeeling, Shillong and Ooty.

Leh : Considered to be on the top of the world. One of the highest inhabited cities of the world. It gives a different idea of high altitude altogether with unbelievable landscapes.
Srinagar : It is the capital of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Extremely beautiful city in the midst of the Himalayas with a very beautiful Dal lake in it.
Gangtok : Capital city of Sikkim. Gangtok is a bewitching hill-station located amidst the multiple-hued mountains of Sikkim.
Goa : Ruled by Portuguese for over 400 years, Goa is a cocktail of Indian and Portuguese culture. Quite a different kind of place altogether, Goa is full of beautiful beaches and flocking tourists.
Pondicherry : Pondicherry was a French colony over two hundred years and has a lot of sighting of French influence throughout it's territories. Now tourists often flock there for spiritual ashrams or enjoyable pubs and parties.
Bishnupur : Located in West Bengal, it is home to the famous terracotta temples and a great centre for classical Bishnupur Gharana music. Do not forget to buy a Bankura horse made of terracota(which is the symbol for Indian handicrafts).
Tirupati Balaji : If you want to see the material richness of a religious place, visit this temple. It is considered to be the richest temple in the world and one surprising sight to see for a non Indian. It is located in Andhra Pradesh.
Nalanda : Related to Buddhism, It was the oldest university of the world later on destroyed completely during the Muslim invasions of India. Sights of Buddhist interest like Pavapuri and Rajgir are in the vicinity.
Golden Temple : An actual temple plated with gold is one of Sikhism's holiest shrines. Looks very serene early in the mornings.
Khajuraho : Supposedly the birth place of Kamasutra, Khajuraho is full of temples with erotic sculptures all around them. One of the most interesting and less talked about aspects of Hindu culture.
Kochi : In a State full of secluded and ravishing beaches, Kochi is one of the most sought after tourist destination. It is advisable to visit the surrounding beach cities of Kochi. Don't forget to experience backwaters of Kerala in a house boat.
Andamans : Beautiful Island territory of India in the Bay of Bengal, Andaman islands can be considered one of the best island destinations in the world.
