One of last year's most critically acclaimed indie games, Axiom Verge, is slated to launch on Xbox One and Wii U later this year. Axiom Verge recently released on both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita with cross-buy for $19.99 (it's also available via Steam for PC and Mac). Axiom Verge received over 24 different 9/10 or higher reviews, including a 5/5 from Examiner. We caught up with Dan Adelman during Pax East for a brief look at the game on Wii U.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the title, Axiom Verge is a 2D 16-bit style Metroidvania which is also a bit reminiscent of Contra and Blaster Master. This indie game was developed by just one person, Tom Happ, over a period of five years during his free time. There's more than 40 weapons and tools to utilize, and almost 100 upgrades to help you blast your way through 80 different enemy types and 1,000 rooms to explore.
Nintendo Wii U owners can look forward to utilizing their Wii U game pad to play the entire game without a television. They also have easy access to the map and inventory when they look down at their Wii U controller when playing on the big screen. Text really doesn't do Axiom Verge justice, and we implore you to check out the attached trailer.
