Ross Edwards (born 1 December 1942, Cottesloe, Western Australia) is a former Western Australian and Australian cricketer.
Edwards played in 20 Tests for Australia, playing against England, West Indies and Pakistan. He also played in nine One Day Internationals including the 1975 Cricket World Cup series. He was a right-handed batsman and superb cover fielder as well as a part-time wicket-keeper.
In the 1971–72 Sheffield Shield season he made 4 centuries and went to England in 1972 at the age of 29 and got his first chance at Nottingham where he made an unbeaten 170. He made ducks in his next two innings however.
In 1974–75 Edwards scored his second century against England when he hit 115 in the Perth Test match. He made 99 at Lord's in 1975.
World Series Cricket beckoned in 1977 after which he failed to reach national selection.
An orchestra (/ˈɔːrkᵻstrə/ or US /ˈɔːrˌkɛstrə/; Italian: [orˈkɛstra]) is a large instrumental ensemble used in classical music that contains sections of string (violin, viola, cello and double bass), brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Other instruments such as the piano and celesta may sometimes be grouped into a fifth section such as a keyboard section or may stand alone, as may the concert harp and, for 20th and 21st century compositions, electric and electronic instruments. The term orchestra derives from the Greek ὀρχήστρα, the name for the area in front of an ancient Greek stage reserved for the Greek chorus. The orchestra grew by accretion throughout the 18th and 19th centuries, but changed very little in composition during the course of the 20th century.
Ross (Ros in Scottish Gaelic) is a region of Scotland and a former earldom and county. The name Ross allegedly derives from a Gaelic word meaning "headland", perhaps a reference to the Black Isle. Another possible origin is the West Norse word for Orkney – Hrossey – meaning horse island; the area once belonged to the Norwegian (West Norse) earldom of Orkney. Ross is a historical comital region, perhaps predating the Mormaerdom of Ross.
Excavations of a rock shelter and shell midden at Sand, Applecross on the coast of Wester Ross have shown that the coast was occupied by Mesolithic hunter-gatherers.
It may be doubted whether the Romans ever effected even a temporary settlement in the area of the modern county. In Roman times, and for long afterwards, the land was occupied by Picts, who, in the 6th and 7th centuries, were converted to Christianity by followers of Saint Columba. Throughout the next three centuries the natives were continually harassed by Norwegian Viking raiders, of whose presence tokens have survived in several place-names (Dingwall, Tain, and others). At this time the country formed part of the great province of Moray (Latin: Moravia), which then extended as far as the Dornoch Firth and the Oykel, and practically comprised the whole of Ross and Cromarty.
The Heart was a music channel on XM Satellite Radio that specialized in playing soft AC love songs. It was available on channel 23 on XM and channel 819 on DirecTV. The program director of The Heart was Mike Abrams. The channel was dropped as part of the Sirius/XM merger on November 12, 2008. It was replaced by Sirius's similar The Bridge and Sirius XM Love (formerly Sirius Love).
Artists that were on the playlist include Whitney Houston, Elton John, James Taylor and Phil Collins.
The Heart was on XM's channel lineup at service launch. In 2004 and 2005, the channel's regular format was temporarily replaced with a pop Christmas music format called "Holly" between Thanksgiving and Christmas; in 2006, Holly preempted XM's U-Pop channel instead and The Heart retained its normal format through December.
The Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is an Australian symphony orchestra. It was founded in 1932 as the National Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra. Since its opening in 1973, the Sydney Opera House has been its home concert hall. The orchestra's chief conductor is David Robertson who succeeded Vladimir Ashkenazy at the beginning of 2014.
The Sydney Symphony performs around 150 concerts a year to a combined annual audience of more than 350,000. The regular subscription concert series are mostly performed at the Sydney Opera House, but other venues around Sydney are used as well, including the City Recital Hall at Angel Place and the Sydney Town Hall. The Town Hall was the home of the orchestra until the opening of the Opera House in 1973. Since then, most concerts have been taking place in the Opera House's Concert Hall (capacity: 2,679 seats). A major annual event for the orchestra is Symphony in the Domain, a free evening outdoor picnic concert held in the summer month of January in the large city park known as The Domain. This event draws audiences of over 80,000 and is a long-established part of the Sydney summer cultural calendar.

This is such an awesome piece by Australian composer Ross Edwards... I had to share it! Sorry about the poor audio and video quality, it was recorded with an iphone4! I think there is only 1 other full performance of this piece on youtube... So another reason I am uploading this is for educational purposes... I know it helps me so much learn a piece if I am able to watch a few versions of it on youtube! Matthew Withers has done an awesome recording of this on his CD 'Solo' which is definately worth checking out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGSPAwHAaAU - Michael -

Recorded live at Old Skool Studios by David Wilkinson dave@oldskoolaudio.com.au From Ross Edwards' website: "About 1994 I started composing for the guitar, never having done so before. In this new venture I received advice and encouragement from several Australian guitarists. My first attempt was a Concerto for Guitar and Strings commissioned by Adrian Walter for John Williams, who gave the first performance with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra at the 1995 Darwin International Guitar Festival. This was followed by a performance of the concerto in Melbourne with Timothy Kain as soloist and it was Tim who, with Australia Council assistance, commissioned Blackwattle Caprices. ...
